Every restart you had to be so aggressive to pass people because that was your best shot to pass them and everyone realized it. There wasn’t much grip out there and everyone was doing that and you are going to have a crash."

Kansas Speedway is certainly one of the cookie-cutter races that the Chase schedule has to offer. The variable 17 to 20 degrees of banking in the corners plus the 10 degrees on the frontstretch leaves much to be desired for those looking for an exciting Sunday afternoon of racing.

Many race fans have ignored the fact that Greg Biffle is in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) Chase. Don’t look now but Biffle is currently sixth in the overall series point’s standings and down a deficit of 41 points to series points leader Matt Kenseth.

Kevin Harvick ran the fastest lap of the field in his No. 29 Budweiser Chevrolet SS with a speed of 187.516 mph to capture the pole position for Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Kansas City Speedway. This marked Harvick’s sixth Sprint Cup career pole and first in 16 races at the 1.5-mile track. It also snapped a 254-race pole drought. His last number one starting spot came at New Hampshire in Sept. 2006, a race he also won.

HOW WAS THE QUALIFYING LAP?: “Everybody on our Budweiser team has done a good job. We made a couple really good runs in practice and a couple of a little sketchy runs in practice, but we knew the conditions would be cooler so we put the car back how we started practice and hoped that the race track came our way. Hopefully, that gets us a good starting spot and we can go from there.”

RICKY STENHOUSE JR., No. 17 Ford EcoBoost Fusion – “So far so good for our EcoBoost Fusion here. I knew if those guys going out early, if I could be somewhere around that group of guys that we would have a decent day for qualifying. Scott and the guys made great changes and it isn’t near as fast as when we qualified here earlier this year. It was definitely on edge and I had a lot of fun doing that. I am proud of the guys for the adjustments that they made. I am not sure it that will hold up or stack up but beating those guys that already went out feels pretty decent.”

As the sun went down over the Kansas Speedway qualifying for the fourth race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup Series began. Kevin Harvick would take the pole with a lap of 28.796 seconds or 187.526 mph.

MATT KENSETH, No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - Starting Position: 7th - Have you made progress from yesterday's practice session? "No. We haven't really made a lot of progress. That's not going to end up good at all. It might hopefully be in the top-20. Just been way off -- kind of running out of time to figure it out. Hopefully, we'll figure it out tomorrow."
