JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 DRIVE TO END HUNGER CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Richmond International Raceway and discussed being fastest in the final practice session, the penalties levied this week against Joe Gibbs Racing, the new qualifying format NASCAR announced this week for Sonoma and Watkins Glen and other topics.

Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Geek Squad Ford Fusion, is sixth in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series point standings heading into this weekend’s race. Edwards held a Q&A session after Friday’s final practice session to discuss his hopes for Saturday night.

JASON RATCLIFF, crew chief, No. 20 Dollar General Toyota Camry, Joe Gibbs Racing - How difficult is it that this is a TRD engine and not a Joe Gibbs Racing engine that started this? "It's difficult. Obviously, it's a mistake. I'm not going to call it a simple mistake because it's a big mistake."

Following his win at Kansas Speedway, NASCAR deemed Matt Kenseth's motor to be illegal. A connecting rod was found to be approximately 2.7 grams underweight when NASCAR weighed it during the tear down of the race winning No.20 car from Kansas. The other seven connecting rods were each a few grams to the good and perfectly legal.
