After seeing good runs at Daytona and Phoenix ruined by mechanical gremlins, No. 56 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota driver Martin Truex Jr. was mired in 34th place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points. Although still early in the season, Truex’s bid for a second consecutive berth in the Chase for the Sprint Cup needed a boost.

The Century Mark: With his 10th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway last weekend, Jamie McMurray reached his 100th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) career top-10 finish.

One of Mexico’s most acclaimed and popular actresses, Kate del Castillo, will serve as Honorary Starter for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series’ Auto Club 400 at Auto Club Speedway on Sunday, March 24.

In 15 starts at the two-mile California track, Edwards has one win, one pole, seven top-five and 12 top-10 finishes. His average start is 18.5, and his average finish is 8.7 which is the second best among active drivers. Edwards has completed 3518 of 3534 (99.5%) of laps attempted at Auto Club Speedway.

SUPER START: Brad Keselowski is the only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver to start the season with four top-five finishes in the first four races. The last driver to start the year with five-consecutive top-five finishes also drove the “Blue Deuce.” Rusty Wallace accomplished the feat in 1998.

Brad Keselowski: Keselowski finished third at Bristol and snatched the points lead from Jimmie Johnson, who finished 22nd, two laps down. Keselowski now leads Dale Earnhardt, Jr. by nine.

No other team currently in NASCAR has as much talent and young superstars coming up through NASCAR’s ranks than Joe Gibbs Racing. JGR has lots of young talent and a potential fourth Cup ride which could be driven by any of JGR’s new and young talent.
