Phoenix Recap: The FedEx Racing team used excellent strategy and quick pit stops in Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Phoenix International Raceway to help get Denny Hamlin into the top-five for the final charge to the checkered flag, and the driver of the #11 FedEx Ground Toyota made a breathtaking, three-wide last lap move to finish third in the 312-mile race won by Carl Edwards.

Biffle on Vegas: “I’m jacked up about heading to Vegas. One, I love to gamble, and two, I love that race track. We run really well there. We’ve got the American Red Cross on the car this weekend and I just can’t wait to get there. It takes a lot of things to win at Vegas. Track position is key and you need to have the right pit stop at the end. We’ve been really close to winning in the Cup car before and hopefully this is it.”

The Michael Waltrip Racing driver won his 56th career pole Friday in Phoenix moving past Bill Elliott and into sole possession of seventh place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series all-time poles.

With an average finish of 12.8 at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, Marcos Ambrose looks to tally another top-10 finish this weekend in the No. 9 Stanley Ford. Ambrose and the team have posted two 18th-place finishes this season and currently hold the 12th spot in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver points.

Aric Almirola is eager to head to the first intermediate track of the year, the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. After posting the fastest time in January testing at the similar Charlotte Motor Speedway, the team has confidence it can be fast this weekend.

As the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season begins, Kwikset is announcing a partnership agreement with Richard Childress Racing and driver Jeff Burton. Kwikset will have its logo on the No. 31 Chevrolet for every race this season, and will also be the primary paint scheme for the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway on July 6. Throughout the 2013 season, Kwikset will be announcing opportunities to engage fans and customers in unique ways.

The driver of the No. 35 MDS Transport Ford says this weekend's race at Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway will finally give the team a feel of what many 2013 Sprint Cup Series tracks will be like because the 1.5-mile Vegas oval is one of numerous intermediate tracks the series visits.

Most people like a nice smooth road when they're behind the wheel. But when it comes to Sprint Cup race tracks, sometimes bumpier is better. David Gilliland, for one, looks forward to the unique surface characteristics of Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway, where the Cup Series will race its third points event of the season this weekend.
