It's really a big change of pace from where we've been -- we've been at a lot of race tracks that have been repaved and have a ton of grip. We get here with a track surface that doesn't have a lot of grip -- the tire wears out a lot. Like I said, it's a pretty big change of pace for all of us in the garage area. So far, the 5-hour ENERGY Toyota has been pretty good and looking forward to the weekend. It's going to be a long, hot one."

TONY STEWART, NO. 14 OFFICE DEPOT/MOBIL 1 CHEVROLET, met with members of the media at Atlanta Motor Speedway and discussed the first practice session, the importance of bonus points in the Chase and other topics.

Tony Stewart has a heck of an arm, and he proved it last weekend at Bristol when he heaved his helmet at the hood of Matt Kenseth’s car. That arm did not go unnoticed, and Friday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, he received a small token of appreciation.

Michael Waltrip Racing announced Friday it has agreed to multiyear contract extensions with Martin Truex Jr. and NAPA AUTO PARTS keeping Truex behind the wheel of the No. 56 NAPA AUTO PARTS Toyota in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Carl Edwards comes into this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway needing a win to help his chances at making the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The good news for Edwards is that he has three series victories at AMS, including the first of his career in 2005. In fact, Edwards swept both races that season and then captured the fall event in 2008.
