Atlanta is a big weekend for Martin Truex Jr. On Friday, he’ll join Michael Waltrip Racing executives and NASCAR President Mike Helton in the media center for a 1 p.m. news conference to discuss the 2013 season and beyond.

This weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Chevrolet Racing will begin the brand’s fight against breast cancer as Chevrolet gears up to support the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer initiative.

Kenseth on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway: “Atlanta is a place that I always look forward to coming to and racing at since it’s a high-banked and fast track where we can run several lines. It’s a really fast track and it always seems to get slicker as the race goes on and the track rubbers up, so you’re always looking for a groove that helps you get more grip."

Dodge has nine NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins at Atlanta Motor Speedway – including three of the last five races. Dodge scored three consecutive Sprint Cup Series wins from 2009-10. Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne swept the Cup Series races for Dodge in 2009 with Busch winning again at the spring event in 2010.

RCR in The ATL ... In 123 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series starts at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing has earned three pole awards and nine wins, including Kevin Harvick's emotional victory in the Cracker Barrel 500 on March 11, 2001.

Carl Edwards on racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway: “We could not be going to a better race track for our team right now, all the guys are pumped. We’ve had great success there. Atlanta is one of the more challenging tracks to drive. It’s fun, it’s fast, there are bumps and different grooves. The track has character and that’s what makes it so much fun to race."

The No. 15 5-hour ENERGY team will be featured in the ABC television special Catching Speed presented by John Deere that airs at 2 p.m. ET Sunday. The show features the Michael Waltrip Racing team as it prepares for The Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway—one of NASCAR’s most prestigious races.

Johnson finished second at Bristol and clinched a spot in the Chase For The Cup. He moved up two places to second in the Sprint Cup point standings, 11 behind Greg Biffle.

STILL LOOKING FOR THAT “WIN AND IN”: Despite coming home with a solid eighth-place finish and leading the most laps in last Saturday night’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway, Joey Logano is still looking for his second win of the season to help propel him into the Chase for the Sprint Cup. With the two “wild card” spots still up for grabs, Logano’s Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Kyle Busch holds the second and final spot into the playoffs.
