Jimmie Johnson had an extremely confident look on his face during pre-race before Sunday afternoon's running of the Brickyard 400. He went even as far to tweet on Saturday " I can't wait for tomorrow, Our car is awesome".

Dave Blaney drove the Tommy Baldwin Racing (TBR) No. 36 SealWrap Chevrolet from the 32nd position to finish in 23rd place at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Six races remain until the "Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup" field is set, and Jeff Gordon is currently outside looking in. The five-time Pocono Raceway winner knows it will take at least one win to earn a coveted "Chase" position, and track position could be the determining factor in who captures victory in Sunday's Pennsylvania 400.

Jeff Gordon has four Cup championships, but Jimmie Johnson now has five. Jeff won the Brickyard 400 four times, and now so has Jimmie. You could think of this as Jimmie having taken over from Jeff as Rick Hendrick's premier driver.

Greg Biffle, driver of the No. 16 3M Ford Fusion, was one of five Ford drivers participating in a Goodyear tire test today at Michigan International Speedway. Biffle took time to speak with MIS President Roger Curtis before the afternoon session on the track.

NASCAR announced earlier today (July 30) that all four manufacturer submitted 2013 car models have been approved by the series to begin racing next season, and that the OEMs may now start building parts for those cars.

Harvick maintained an average running position of 17.594 during the Brickyard 400 while spending 69 of the 160 laps (43.1 percent) running within the top 15.

On a day when track position was key, Trevor Bayne and the crew of his No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion came away with a respectable 17th-place finish in the Curtiss Shaver 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. continues to accomplish firsts in the 2012 season. Sunday at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway he added another, becoming the point leader for the first time since September of 2004.

Jimmie Johnson's win was his 4th at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, tying him with teammate Jeff Gordon, his 3rd victory of the season, and 58th career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series win.
