NASCAR Cup Series

The 70th season of NASCAR is drawing to a close. After 38 weeks and 35 races, Ford Championship Weekend is upon us. Four drivers in each national touring series will race tonight, Saturday and Sunday to win the championship.

Martin Truex Jr.’s No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/5-hour ENERGY Toyota will have familiar look in this weekend’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Ford team owners Walt Czarnicki (Team Penske) and Tony Stewart (Stewart-Haas Racing) were part of the Championship 4 team owners press conference ahead of the opening practice sessions at Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway Friday morning.

Kevin Harvick, driver of the No. 4 Jimmy John’s Ford Fusion, is one of two Ford drivers gunning for the NASCAR Championship at Ford Championship Weekend on Sunday. Harvick participated in breakout media sessions as part of the NASCAR Championship Media Day.

NASCAR held its annual Championship 4 Media Day Thursday in Miami. Below are transcripts from the day that included Ford drivers Kevin Harvick and Joey Logano.

Fresh out of its break-in period, AmericanMuscle’s (AM) Justin Dugan visited Maple Grove Raceway in Berks County, PA with his new 10R80 equipped 2019 Mustang GT Premium. The trip was part “another day in the office”, part “dragstrip fun”—all to compare quarter mile times and see how much faster a tuned 2019 Mustang GT is versus stock.

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series will all be winding up at Homestead-Miami with the Championship 4 races in each series. Check out the full schedule for Ford Championship weekend below, which is subject to change.

With one race remaining behind the wheel of the No. 78 Furniture Row Racing Toyota, Martin Truex Jr. will attempt to become the 16th driver in history to win multiple NASCAR Cup Series championships.

Legends are rare. Many get an honorary title, no doubt stars in their own right at one time long ago or a pioneer of some description. However, to be a true legend, an icon, it takes a lot to make the grade. In NASCAR, David Pearson was an undisputed legendary driver, one of the best all-time, a true giant of the sport.
