William Byron is an under the radar rookie that has grabbed some attention within the last few weeks. His development and growth since he joined Hendrick Motorsports in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series have been starting to show with the last two results.

The start of the Consumers Energy 400 will showcase three individuals who know about the adrenaline of being in high energy moments. NBA Legend Ben Wallace will be the pace car driver; Tom Hunt, the Jackson County Teacher of the Year, will serve as the grand marshal; and Michigan hero Jason Potter will drop the green flag as the honorary starter.

Stenhouse Jr. has 11 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Michigan International Speedway with an average starting position of 20.0 and average finishing position of 21.7.

Bayne will make his 15th MENCS start at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. In his 14 previous starts, Bayne has an average finish of 21.1 with one top-five and two top-10s.

THE GRANDDADDY OF THEM ALL: Kasey Kahne is spending the week at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa for the annual Knoxville Nationals sprint car event. Kahne will race on Wednesday night (8/8) in an attempt to qualify for the feature event which is on Saturday night (8/11). Kahne will be behind the wheel of the No. 4 Ollie’s Bargain Outlet car with his Kasey Kahne Racing team.

AJ ALLMENDINGER, NO. 47 KROGER CLICKLIST CAMARO ZL1 - RACING AT MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY: "Throughout the years of racing at Michigan (International Speedway), the track has really gotten slick and widens out," Allmendinger said. "We definitely saw that in the first race in June. I always find it's a challenging weekend because when you start out the weekend for practice on Friday, the track is one groove-wide and it doesn't really widen out until the end of final practice on Saturday."
