NASCAR Cup Series

The start of the Consumers Energy 400 will showcase three individuals who know about the adrenaline of being in high energy moments. NBA Legend Ben Wallace will be the pace car driver; Tom Hunt, the Jackson County Teacher of the Year, will serve as the grand marshal; and Michigan hero Jason Potter will drop the green flag as the honorary starter.

Alex Bowman on finding success at Michigan: "We just need to put together a whole race without anything bad happening and run where we have the speed to run. We will wait and see. I like that place, though. We weren’t as strong last time there as I thought we would be, but our cars are getting better each and every week, so I think we can be much better there this coming race.”

Stenhouse Jr. has 11 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Michigan International Speedway with an average starting position of 20.0 and average finishing position of 21.7.

Bayne will make his 15th MENCS start at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. In his 14 previous starts, Bayne has an average finish of 21.1 with one top-five and two top-10s.

THE GRANDDADDY OF THEM ALL: Kasey Kahne is spending the week at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa for the annual Knoxville Nationals sprint car event. Kahne will race on Wednesday night (8/8) in an attempt to qualify for the feature event which is on Saturday night (8/11). Kahne will be behind the wheel of the No. 4 Ollie’s Bargain Outlet car with his Kasey Kahne Racing team.

AJ ALLMENDINGER, NO. 47 KROGER CLICKLIST CAMARO ZL1 - RACING AT MICHIGAN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY: "Throughout the years of racing at Michigan (International Speedway), the track has really gotten slick and widens out," Allmendinger said. "We definitely saw that in the first race in June. I always find it's a challenging weekend because when you start out the weekend for practice on Friday, the track is one groove-wide and it doesn't really widen out until the end of final practice on Saturday."

Michigan International Speedway serves as ‘home’ for Jack Roush and Roush Fenway Racing, located just an hour from Roush Industries in Livonia, Michigan. MIS has naturally been one of the organization’s most successful tracks on the circuit, with the team earning a total of 23 wins across NASCAR’s three major touring series.

Martin Truex Jr. doesn’t have to make amends. He is the reigning NASCAR Cup Series champion, who continues to be one of the top drivers this season. He is also coming off a stalwart runner-up finish in Sunday’s Watkins Glen International road race.

Michigan Preview: The Series returns to Michigan for Sunday’s race around the 2-mile oval in the Irish Hills where Denny Hamlin looks to improve upon his 12th-place finish captured earlier this season. Hamlin and #11 FedEx team have accumulated seven top-five and 11 top-10 finishes in 25 stops at the Brooklyn, Michigan track.
