NASCAR Cup Series

After winning last weekend’s Clash for the eighth time, Ford will be looking for its 15th victory in Sunday’s Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway. Ford has won the event four times in the last eight years, and has three previous race-winners in its lineup with Kevin Harvick (2007), Trevor Bayne (2011) and Joey Logano (2015).

Today, Team Penske announced that it has formed a technical partnership with Stratasys Ltd. (Nasdaq:SSYS), the 3D printing and additive manufacturing solutions company.

After earning the eighth fastest time during Saturday’s practice, the 2013 NASCAR Rookie of the Year qualified 13th in Sunday’s qualifying session scoring him the seventh starting-position for Thursday night’s Can-Am Duel 1 which sets the field for the Daytona 500.

The sun was shining, at least on Sunday, the birds were singing, and joy was back in our hearts. A new NASCAR season is now upon us, and we could not be happier. We learned over the offseason that if a car gets too torn up that it can not be fixed in five minutes on pit road using original pieces, other than tons of tape, its gets parked.

That’s it! I’ve had enough! I cannot count the times I have heard how NASCAR or the people involved with the sport have placed blame on the lack of attendance, ratings and overall disinterest in NASCAR on drivers retiring or not racing. This week a well-respected publication stated that since Dale Earnhardt Jr. decided to sit out the Advanced Auto Parts Clash on Sunday, that led to a decrease in attendance.

After an exhaustive restoration process, Team Penske has unveiled one of the most unique pieces of its history, a customized 1972 International Fleetstar truck known in the racing circles as “The Blue Hilton.” The truck was one of the first known enclosed transporters used for racing purposes. It served the team in various capacities from 1972-1983. The restoration is complete down to the smallest detail, including authentic PPG paint and hand lettering just in time for Roger Penske’s 80th birthday.

On Tuesday, February 21, "The King" Richard Petty will spend a day at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn. Petty, the seven-time Daytona 500 champion and current owner of Richard Petty Motorsports, will promote the upcoming running of the "Great American Race," the Daytona 500. Petty is the perfect guest; he holds the record for the most wins in the most prestigious NASCAR race, and is one of the sport's leading ambassadors.

Roush Fenway Racing and NASCAR will officially kick off the 2017 season when 42 cars line up to compete for the front row of the world’s most famous race at Daytona 500 Pole Day. Roush Fenway Cup drivers Trevor Bayne and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. will each look to take home the fastest lap, after posting strong efforts in Friday’s practice session.

Chase Elliott, who is just in his second year of full-time MENCS competition earned his second consecutive Daytona 500 pole.

For the second consecutive year, Chase Elliot put the No. 24 NAPA Chevrolet SS on the pole for the season-opening Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, Daytona 500. With a lap of 46.663 seconds/192.872 mph, the 2016 Cup Series Rookie-of-the-Year, claimed his third career pole.
