With all three of NASCAR’s national touring series set to descend on Atlanta Motor Speedway for the Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 weekend just days from now, drivers looking ahead to the races have described AMS in many different ways. Fast, abrasive, slick, aged, fun, wild and even mean are just a handful of the adjectives that have been uttered by drivers about historic 1.54-mile race track. In a yearbook of race tracks, AMS might sweep the superlatives page for most character, most dramatic and certainly, most popular.

It will be kind of based off of what tire Goodyear brings. If it’s a soft tire that’s got a lot of speed initially, it’s really going to wear off. Martin Truex Jr. and his younger brother Ryan have shared many racing highs and lows over the years. But this weekend the two shared a major accomplishment, finishing runner up in their respective races at Daytona International Speedway.

Martin Truex Jr. was edged by Denny Hamlin at the checkered flag in the closest Daytona 500 finish in history. Hamlin’s margin of victory over Truex was 0.010 seconds, less than one foot. The runner-up finish was also a career best in 12 Daytona 500 starts for Truex.
