Take a look through history and you’ll see that everything has a way of becoming popular again – Star Wars, bell bottoms, muscle cars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, tie-dye, penny loafers. For more than 40 years NASCAR fans packed into Richmond International Raceway for Sunday races, and after almost two decades of hosting all night races, day racing returns to Richmond in April 2016.

NASCAR Hall of Famer Ned Jarrett, a championship winning driver and legendary broadcaster, has experienced just about everything in the world of NASCAR.

In the final race of the Contender round and with the elimination of four more drivers, here is what was surprising and not surprising from the CampingWorld.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway.

Through no fault of his own, Joey Logano may have achieved the most unpopular sweep in NASCAR history on Sunday afternoon.

Following a wild finish in the CampingWorld.com 500 at Talladega Superspeedway, four Team Chevy drivers have advanced to the Eliminator round of the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The 10-race playoff began with nine Chevy SS drivers vying for this season’s championship title. With only five races remaining in the season, four Chevrolet SS drivers are left standing to try to earn Team Chevy’s 31st driver championship.

Greg Biffle once again flexed his fuel saving muscles and almost left Talladega Superspeedway with the win Sunday afternoon. Biffle stayed out while others pitted and had saved enough fuel to make it to the end when a caution came out and an extended cleanup period ensued. Biffle had to relinquish the lead and come down pit road for fuel due to the extra cleanup time. Biffle was able to make up a few positions on the race ending green-white-checkered finish to cross the finish line 20th in the No. 16 Cheez-It Ford.

My guys just did an amazing job with the car, with the strategy and really excited to go to Martinsville. It’s fun to still be in it and we’ll just go race hard and have some more fun.”

TODD GORDON, crew chief, No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Fusion – TELL US ABOUT THE FINAL LAPS. “I would say we were probably the lowest stressed group coming into today. The final laps there we had a good car. I felt like we could contend and execution in the pits got us to the point where we got off pit road that last fuel only stop first and we were watching it go and seeing what was happening with the 16."
