Ryan Reed was poised to earn his career best finish at Bristol Motor Speedway before a tire went flat on his No. 16 Drive Down A1C Lilly Diabetes Ford with only 12 laps remaining. Bristol has been Reed’s nemesis, but he was able to earn his best qualifying effort at the .0533-mile track of 12th and had a top-10 finish in his sights.

Following his strong run at Mid-Ohio, Elliott Sadler returned to second in the NASCAR Xfinity Series point standings – just 17 markers outside of first.

Perennial NASCAR Xfinity Series contender Elliott Sadler said he is ending his run as a full-time driver after the 2018 season. The veteran of more than 800 races in NASCAR’s national series and driver for JR Motorsports posted a statement on his website, ElliottSadler.com, on Wednesday announcing his decision.

News and notes: The NASCAR Xfinity Series will take a break from the road course racing action as it makes its way to Thunder Valley for some short track racing. This will be Boyd's second trip to The World's Fastest Half-Mile. In his previous trip, Boyd scored a 25th place finish. "I'm stoked to be coming back to Bristol this weekend," says Boyd. "I've always wanted to race here under the lights, so that's going to be very special. The atmosphere at Bristol is unlike any other. It's so loud and the fans are a lot of fun. Hopefully we can come out of here with a great finish."

Richard Childress Racing's Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series history at Bristol Motor Speedway ... In 169 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Bristol Motor Speedway, Richard Childress Racing boasts nine wins - seven with Dale Earnhardt, one with Kevin Harvick and one with Jeff Burton - three pole awards, 34 top-five and 69 top-10 finishes. The Welcome, N.C.-based organization has led 3,679 laps at the "World's Fastest Half-Mile."

Gallagher collected his sixth top-10 finish of 2018 as well as his career best NASCAR Xfinity Series road course finish.

Ryan Reed crossed the finish line 10th at Mid-Ohio, earning his best finish at the road course and his third straight top-10 finish. Reed had the No. 16 Drive Down A1C Lilly Diabetes Ford on top of the speed charts in practice on Friday and followed it up with an 11th-place qualifying effort. During the race, Reed took one self-inflicted trip through the grass, but rebounded and was a consistent factor in the top 10 during the 75-lap event.

Chase Briscoe took the checkered flag 14th in Saturday afternoon’s race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Briscoe and the No. 60 Ford Performance team persevered, bouncing back after a spin in stage two threatened their efforts.
