NASCAR O'Reilly Series

After subbing for Dale Earnhardt Jr. for two Sprint Cup Series races, Regan Smith has been signed by JR Motorsports to drive the No. 5 Chevrolet in the Nationwide Series for the full 2013 schedule. Smith will make his JRM debut this year, running the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway on November 17 as a teammate to Cole Whitt and Danica Patrick.

Coming off an impressive season driving for Venturini Motorsports, standout driver Kevin Swindell has teamed up with NASCAR team Biagi-DenBeste Racing and will compete next month driving the No.98 entry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) events at Texas Motor Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway.

NASCAR Bashers will sponsor Nationwide Series driver Cole Whitt in the JR Motorsports # 88 car to create on-track buzz among fans. The NASCAR Bashers car will run the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge on November 3 at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth. The car will showcase prominent NASCAR Bashers badging and detailed graphics simulating the logo and the number 88 crashing through the paint scheme.

With three Nationwide Series races remaining in the 2012 season, Kyle Busch finds himself in unfamiliar territory. The winningest driver in NNS history is winless. Yes, winless. Locked out of a place that he used to take up an almost permanent residence and looking for some way to get back on the right side of the racing Gods. For Busch, nothing less than winning is acceptable.

The Nationwide Series race at Kansas was a caution filled display of skills and patience. The freshly paved surface proved to be a wickedly fast, wickedly slick Halloween ghoul. The track management created a surface that after a couple of races and a winter of seasoning will be one of the best tracks in NASCAR.

Researchers studying earmarks for the current farm bill were shocked to discover that NASCAR has been receiving subsidies from the Federal Government since 2007, not to help the beleaguered racing organization stay afloat in the worldwide recession, and protect the jobs of as many people as possible, no, these subsidies, which were hidden deep under ‘crop rotation and preservation’ sub-paragraphs, are paying America’s most prominent race series…to keep fans out of the seats.

Hal Martin has lived his entire racing life following the motto of his beloved hometown football team, the New Orleans Saints. So for this driver, known as the ‘Ragin Cajun’, there will only be one acceptable outcome to his Nationwide Series debut in Kansas this weekend, to ‘Finish Strong.’

The Toyota Racing Dream Build Challenge -- a vehicle-modification build competition where fans will determine the winner among four Toyota Racing drivers who are competing for charity -- is giving fans a chance to win too when they finally get to see the completed vehicles unveiled on the Dream Build website this Saturday, Oct. 20.

Thrust & Son and H.I. Technologies will present The Supportmilitary.org car for the Kansas Lottery 300 this Saturday at Kansas Speedway. Jason Bowles will pilot the No. 81 Dodge for MacDonald Motorsports around the 1.5 mile D-shaped oval. This will mark the second time that The Support Military Foundation’s colors will run in the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
