For the past few seasons, Spring Valley, California’s Jarrett Kramer has been an infrequent competitor in the California Lightning Sprint Car Series. After the first three races in 2017, his fellow competitors are hoping he goes back to the infrequent schedule as last Saturday night at the Bakersfield Speedway, Kramer won his second main event of the campaign at round #1 of the “Civil War Challenge” matching the CLS against the cars from the Bay Cities Racing Association.

3GT Racing, the IMSA team fielded by RRDC member Paul Gentilozzi, longtime champion driver and team owner in Trans-Am, IMSA and IndyCar competition, will support the RRDC Evening with Emerson Fittipaldi Presented by Firestone on April 6 as a Platinum sponsor.

For the second year in a row, Ty Majeski visited victory lane in the prestigious Rattler 250 Super Late Model race at South Alabama Speedway. Majeski took the lead on a restart with 18 laps remaining in Sunday afternoon’s 41st Annual Rattler 250 – the season opener for the Southern Super Series.

Two weeks after making his debut with David Gilliland Racing, Giovanni Bromante captured his first career pro late model top ten finish with a sixth in the Baby Rattler 125 on Saturday night at South Alabama Speedway.

Cole Anderson made his debut with Bond Suss Racing on Sunday afternoon in the Hardee’s Rattler 250 and despite starting and finishing in the tenth spot, persevered through much adversity over the course of the 250-lap contest.

The Hardee’s Rattler 250 weekend was a notch in Chase Purdy’s super late model cap as the youngster started the event from the pole position as fast qualifier for the first time in his career. A slipping clutch foiled his chances at victory, however, forcing the No. 97 Bama Buggies Toyota to the pits before halfway.

Corvette Racing stormed to a stunning class victory in the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida on Saturday – its third straight in North America’s oldest endurance sports car race. Antonio Garcia, Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller drove the winning No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C7.R to a 4.453-second victory for the team’s 11th Sebring class victory.

It was just over one year ago that my race car caught fire at Circuit of the Americas during an endurance event. You can read more about it here. Suffice to say that as fires go, this one was bad. Perhaps my fellow racers will find the following thoughts from that experience helpful.

The first round of the 2017 Trans Am West Championship presented by Pirelli is scheduled to kick off at Willow Springs on March 26. This inaugural event at the historic southern California road course will feature an exciting weekend of Trans Am racing and vintage SVRA cars - a timeless mix of nostalgia and modern motor racing.
