Since September of 1969, Talladega Superspeedway has been the place for heart-stopping racing entertainment. With the draft keeping drivers tightly together at 200 mph, it is no surprise that the track has earned a name for itself as NASCAR’s Most Competitive track. The 2.66-mile tri-oval boasts several of the sport’s records, including 88 lead changes (twice) and a tie for the closest finish in a points race when Jimmie Johnson beat Clint Bowyer by .002 seconds in the 2011 GEICO 500. The competition is so intense that races at Talladega are often considered unpredictable as the mammoth track has produced its share of the most unexpected winners, and a few crazy “Big One” incidents along the way.

This NASCAR Playoff doubleheader weekend at Talladega Superspeedway marks 30 years since former IMSA GTP driver Lyn St. James earned a special place among drivers who have shattered records at the mammoth venue.

With his win at Dover on Sunday, Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Elliott not only secured his second victory of the season, but he also punched his ticket to the Round of 8 in the NASCAR Playoffs. Even though Elliott doesn’t have to worry about the unpredictability of Talladega Superspeedway’s 1000Bulbs.com 500 Sunday affecting his immediate postseason advancement, the Dawsonville, GA, native plans to go all-out in his return to NASCAR’s largest track this weekend because he knows his performance can certainly have long-term championship implications.

Racing fortune in NASCAR’s top level came full circle for Chase Elliott Sunday at Dover International Speedway. A year after enduring perhaps his toughest defeat, the 22-year-old fan favorite stayed on the track while his rivals pitted and survived a green-white-checkered restart with old tires to secure an unlikely victory in the “Gander Outdoors 400” Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series playoff race.

Christopher Bell has long been known as a rising star in NASCAR. The talent on the track is obvious. But there’s been one goal that Bell has had all along that maybe even some of his most diehard race fans didn’t know about.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month during October, the pink Chevrolet Camaro SS pace car will be on track at Talladega Superspeedway for the NASCAR Playoff 1000Bulbs.com 500 on Sunday, October 14, in efforts to raise money for the American Cancer Society in its work to save lives from breast cancer. Furthermore, the track will splash the start/finish line with a fresh coat of paint, changing the look of the black and white checkered pattern to give it a pink and black flair.

Carl Edwards, who won six times at TMS over the course of his NASCAR career, will be inducted into the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame on Saturday, November 3. Site of the final victory of his Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series career, Edwards will return to world-renowned motorsports facility on Saturday, Nov. 3 during the AAA Texas 500 NASCAR tripleheader playoff weekend, where he'll be inducted into the Texas Motorsports Hall of Fame.

Falci Adaptive Motorsports, DireenTech, and Furniture Row have combined efforts to allow people with physical disabilities and paralysis the opportunity to gain independence through the ability to drive a NASCAR Cup race car with key modifications. An event will be held at Dover International Speedway on the morning of Thursday, October 4, 2018 at 9 a.m. ET to demonstrate these modifications.

Sunday’s inaugural Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 – arguably the most anticipated Charlotte Motor Speedway race since the first superspeedway night race in 1992 – exceeded the hype in spectacular fashion.
