Notes of Interest

● Where We Stand: The New Jersey native sits second in the driver standings with 487 points, just five points behind leader and JGR teammate Denny Hamlin. All four Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) entries are currently inside the top-11 in the standings, with Ty Gibbs seventh and Christopher Bell 11th as the series heads heads into the summer months this weekend just across the Mississippi River from St. Louis.

● In the 2022 debut of the NASCAR Cup Series at World Wide Technology Raceway (WWTR) in Madison, Illinois, Truex and the No. 19 team ran well, leading 42 laps and bringing home a sixth-place finish. They followed it up in 2023 with a solid fifth-place finish. Truex’s average WWTR finish is a solid 5.5.

● Dazzling Debut: While this weekend is just the third time the Cup Series will have competed at WWTR, Truex has competed at the 1.25-mile, egg-shaped oval twice before in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, qualifying on the pole for both the May 2004 and 2005 races. He went on to win the 2004 race, leading 109 laps along the way.

● Looking for 35: Truex’s win at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon last July was his most recent Cup Series win, the 34th of his career, tying him with 2004 champion Kurt Busch for 25th on the all-time Cup Series win list.

● Ahead at this Stage: Truex has accumulated 63 stage wins since the beginning of the stage era in 2017. He is the only driver with 10 or more stage sweeps, with his latest sweep coming at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn last August. Truex scored his second stage win of the season at Dover (Del.) Motor Speedway last month, leading the field across the line at the end of Stage 1.

What has it been like going back to St. Louis the last couple of years, but this time in the Cup Series?

“It’s been awesome to go back there. I think the last time I raced there before the last couple of years was 2005. It’s amazing how different the track is now and how good it is. The racing there was incredible with this NextGen car. We were going back there thinking that this was going to be one-groove with everyone on the bottom and it’s going to be hard to pass, and that’s not been the case at all. We use the whole racetrack and that’s what makes it good now. It’s a fun track with really long straightaways, but you have to use the brakes, you have to slow down for the corners. It’s the only place we downshift twice on an oval to make a corner and it’s really produced some really good racing and it’s been a lot of fun. We’ve had a good season but would love to get in the win column this weekend with our Bass Pro Shops Camry. It’s a place we are capable of winning at, for sure.”

What does it take to be able to win at WWTR?

“Qualifying well is important, but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t qualify well. It’s a short track, basically. It has long straightaways but short turns, so you have to be able to turn the center of the corner but also be able to get the power down on exit and be able to save the tires for the long run. That’s key.”

What have been the challenges of the NextGen car?

“It’s challenged all of us, that’s for sure. The biggest thing is that everyone is so close, we all have the same car. So it’s really hard to find those little things that make our cars faster and make your chances of winning better. It’s just been tough. These cars are very sensitive to small changes and you really have to be on top of it. The crew chiefs and engineers are all going to be out of hair in a couple of years working on this thing because it’s a challenge. It’s been tough, but also a lot of fun to drive.”

What are your expectations heading to the Cup Series’ third race at World Wide Technology Raceway?

“The first year there, we were one of the best cars out there, along with Joey (Logano) and Kyle (Busch). We were up there and fighting for the lead a ton. It’s a place I’ve always liked, so we were able to get our car where we needed to fairly quickly with a full practice session and time to work on the car during the weekend. Last year, we got behind on track position but had a really strong finish to the race and almost made it back up into the top-five at the end. Hoping we can pick back up where we left off there and keep the track position this time and get our first win of the season. St. Louis is flat, like Phoenix, but it’s a lot more worn out. Hoping we can have another strong effort there with our Bass Pro Shops Toyota Camry XSE.”

Cadillac at Detroit: Returning home on a roll

Cadillac Racing has finished first or second in all four IMSA GTP races

DETROIT (May 28, 2024) – History 101: A Cadillac DPi won four of the five races and placed second in the other at Detroit (Belle Isle) since joining IMSA prototype competition in 2017. There was no race in 2020 because of the pandemic and no IMSA prototype class race in 2023 in the city.

History 102: Renger van der Zande co-drove to victory in 2022 and 2021 with Cadillac Racing at Belle Isle after starting from the pole position.

History 103: The Cadillac Motor Car Co. was named after French explorer Antoine Laumet de La Mothe, sieur de Cadillac, who founded Detroit in 1701.

Cadillac in four IMSA GTP races: 5
First- or scond-place finishes 4
Earned poles 3
Front-row qualifying sweeps 2
Track-record qualifying lap times 1

Recent history: Cadillac is the lone Grand Touring Prototype manufacturer to finish first or second in all four IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship races this season, has earned the pole in every race, including a front row sweep in three events, and has recorded the fastest race lap three times.

Cadillac Racing’s No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R and No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R head into their home race on a roll.

Now for something new: The IMSA hybrid GTP cars will compete on the 1.654-mile, nine-turn street circuit in the shadow of the Renaissance Center instead of the 2.3-mile street circuit on nearby Belle Isle.

The circuit, comprised chiefly of 90-degree turns with a short frontstretch, should highlight the quickness, agility and cornering power of the Cadillac V-Series.R.

“It’s a new track for everybody so it’s a level playing field and that’s quite exciting,” Aitken said. “I’ve had a couple of new tracks in the past few weeks with Long Beach and Laguna Seca, both of which I think I got up to speed quickly. Going to somewhere that is new for everybody will swing favor in our direction.”

The Cadillac GTP entries will pit on driver’s right for their scheduled lone service and driver change on the split pit lane.

The 100-minute Chevrolet Detroit Sports Car Classic on Saturday, June 1, marks the second short race on the IMSA calendar. The No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R driven by Sebastien Bourdais and van der Zande won the first in April at Long Beach after starting second to the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R driven by Pipo Derani and Jack Aitken, who were the runners-up.

“The Cadillac V-Series.R has been the car to beat in IMSA, so I’m sure it will be competitive there as well,” said van der Zande, who at Long Beach extended his streak of at least one victory in each of his 11 IMSA seasons. “It’s a home track for GM, which makes it special for us as Cadillac Racing drivers to see if we can perform to the maximum and win the race.”

Cadillac, the reigning and four-time IMSA prototype class (DPi/GTP) Manufacturer Champion, leads the GTP standings.

USA will telecast the race starting at 3 p.m. ET Saturday, June 1. Peacock will provide flag-to-flag streaming of the race along with qualifications at 4:35 p.m. Friday, May 31, in the U.S. while IMSA.TV will have coverage outside the U.S. IMSA Radio (IMSA.com), RadioLeMans.com will broadcast every session. SiriusXM live race coverage will be available at XM 206, SiriusXM Web/App 996.

‘No Perfect Formula’ premiere

A documentary that follows the development of the Cadillac V-Series.R and its 2023 IMSA and WEC competition premieres at 7 p.m. ET Friday on Hagerty Channel 2545 on Samsung TV Plus. Also available on Hagerty’s Facebook page.

What they’re saying

No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R

Sebastien Bourdais: “The circuit is all-new for everybody and looks challenging going from fairly wide to very narrow places. Some places have been repaved, so we’ll have to see where the bumps are. Quite a bit to figure out and always a bit tricky schedule with the short format, so there will be a need to get as comfortable as possible quickly on a technical track. Every corner is a first gear corner and will be difficult to manage braking with our big, heavy cars to make sure you don’t lock up and at the same time get the tires energized and ready to go. Detroit has been good for me over the years and I’m looking forward to our Cadillac 01 to do well at its home race. We’ve proved that we can get things done and we have a far better understanding on how to get there, so the whole group is pumped. It’s high intensity right now on the heels of Laguna and going to Detroit and straight to Le Mans. I’m looking forward to it.”

Renger van der Zande: “I won in Detroit in Cadillac DPi – once with Sebastien (Bourdais) and once with Kevin (Magnussen) and I also won in LMPC there, so it’s been fa fantastic place for me. But, obviously, we’re on a different track now. Exciting to be on a track that we don’t know, exciting to see what the track will bring. We have wide cars and the track is narrow, so we’ll need to see how things develop and see what works on the setup. The Cadillac V-Series.R has been the car to beat in IMSA, so I’m sure it will be competitive there as well. It’s a home track for GM, which makes it special for us as Cadillac Racing drivers to see if we can perform to the maximum and win the race.”

No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R

Pipo Derani: “Quite honestly, I am sad we are not racing at Belle Isle anymore. Despite that, it is always great to race at GM’s home and feel the extra energy that it brings. We will be hoping to continue our strong form into this very important weekend as we seek to defend our championship. I’m looking forward to challenging for the race win with the No. 31 Whelen Cadillac V-Series.R.”

Jack Aitken: “So far, the season has been great. We’re showing a lot of consistency, which is one of the things we wanted to work on from last year with it being such a crazy first year of the GTP cars, and we do think it’s going to be quite important in the title defense. So, with three second places and being in the hunt at Sebring before the accident as well I think we really have carried through on that goal. Of course, it is a bit frustrating to not have that first win up on the board, but I’m sure we will be able to solve that in the coming weeks. We’re continuously putting ourselves in the right place, we have a fast car and it’s been bad luck and a few mistakes that have held us back. It would be fantastic to get that win in Detroit in our home race. It’s a new track for everybody so it’s a level playing field and that’s quite exciting. I’ve had a couple of new tracks in the past few weeks with Long Beach and Laguna Seca, both of which I think I got up to speed quickly. Going to somewhere that is new for everybody will swing favor in our direction.”

Trois-Rivières (Quebec), May 28, 2024.- Less than two weeks after the inaugural round on the road course of the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport) in Ontario, the drivers of the NASCAR Canada series will compete this Saturday in the first of seven consecutive races on an oval track, at the Autodrome Chaudière, located in Vallée-Junction, in the Beauce region of Quebec. For the driver of car #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, this is a very important race, on a track that he particularly appreciates.

The three-time champion of the NASCAR Canada series and the Dumoulin Compétition team are indeed familiar with the Autodrome Chaudière track, which they occasionally use in testing and to fine-tune the development of their oval car. “I really like this track. The Autodrome Chaudière has quite banked turns, which makes it pleasant for the drivers, and the races there are always very competitive” indicates Louis-Philippe Dumoulin, who adds: “The particularity is that this event will not only be the first of the 2024 NASCAR Canada championship presented in Quebec but also the first of seven consecutive rounds on an oval track. In fact, from this Saturday, all series’ races until the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières next August will be on ovals.

Third in qualifying last year at Vallée-Jonction, then Top 5 at the end of a very competitive race where the first 10 at the last restart could claim victory, Dumoulin is confident about the improvements made to his oval car: “I’m happy that this is the second race of the season because it will quickly give us good lessons for the following rounds. I’m aiming for victory because we worked well during the off-season on this #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab and the whole team work very well together, as we shown at the season opener at Mosport.”

Classified third in the first event after leading for several laps, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will be making his 155th start in NASCAR Canada series this Saturday. “It’s been a long career in the series and I’m still highly motivated to win! But for now, I prefer to look to the future and this race this Saturday which could allow us to be back to Victory Lane. At least the Top 5 to score good points but, even if I know that there is always a bit of contacts that we can avoid in the last laps in this race, I really think that we have a candidate to win” says the Trois-Rivières driver.

Very often ranked well without managing to score a win in recent years on this oval, Louis-Philippe Dumoulin knows that settings are crucial on this track, just like qualifying. “It’s a 300-lap race in which the strategy is defined mainly according to the position on the starting grid. If you are well qualified, you can stay at the forefront throughout. Otherwise, you have to be patient and take advantage of restarts to gain positions and to be among the leaders at the end,” concluded the driver of car #47 WeatherTech Canada | Groupe Bellemare | Omnifab.

Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda Commit to New Engine Development for the Electrification Era, Toward Carbon Neutrality

Toyota City, Japan, May 28, 2024 – (JCN Newswire) – Subaru Corporation (Subaru), Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota), and Mazda Motor Corporation (Mazda) have each committed to developing new engines tailored to electrification and the pursuit of carbon neutrality. With these engines, each of the three companies will aim to optimize integration with motors, batteries, and other electric drive units. While transforming vehicle packaging with more compact engines, these efforts will also decarbonize ICEs by making them compatible with various carbon-neutral (CN) fuels*1.

Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda have always been driven by a deep understanding of their customers’ diverse lifestyles. This understanding has led the three companies to develop signature engines*2 that not only represent their respective brands but also cater to their customers’ unique needs and preferences.

In pursuing decarbonization, all three companies have focused on carbon as the enemy and sought to expand options by acting with passion and purpose. This mindset has driven efforts to ensure a future for the supply chains and jobs that underpin engines. Under the extreme conditions of racing, the companies have worked to broaden powertrain and fuel options by competing with vehicles running on liquid hydrogen and CN fuels.

This process has clarified the role that future engines will play in achieving carbon neutrality. With the next generation of engines, the three companies will seek to not only improve standalone engine performance but also optimize their integration with electric drive units, harnessing the advantages of each.

While being highly efficient and powerful, the new engines will also revolutionize vehicle packaging by being more compact than existing models. Smaller engines will allow for even lower hoods, improving design possibilities and aerodynamic performance while contributing to better fuel efficiency. The development will also emphasize compliance with increasingly strict emissions regulations.

At the same time, the new engines will be made carbon neutral by shifting away from fossil fuels and offering compatibility with various alternatives, including e-fuel (synthetic fuel), biofuels, and liquid hydrogen. In doing so, these engines will contribute to the broader adoption of CN fuels.

Upon this announcement, the CEOs of the three companies made the following comments:”Achieving a carbon-neutral society is a challenge that must be undertaken by all of Japan’s industries and society as a whole. As we continue to refine electrification technology, we will also enhance our horizontally-opposed engines with an aim to use carbon-neutral fuels in the future. Moving forward, the three companies sharing the same aspiration will continue to advance the pursuit of sustainable excellence in Japanese car manufacturing.”(Atsushi Osaki, Representative Director, President and CEO, Subaru Corporation)

“In order to provide our customers with diverse options to achieve carbon neutrality, it is necessary to take on the challenge of evolving engines that are in tune with the energy environment of the future. The three companies, which share the same aspirations, will refine engine technologies through friendly competition.”(Koji Sato, President, Member of the Board of Directors and CEO, Toyota Motor Corporation)

“We will continue to offer customers exciting cars by honing internal combustion engines for the electrification era and expanding the multi-pathway possibilities for achieving carbon neutrality. Given the rotary engine’s compatibility with electrification and carbon-neutral fuels, Mazda will continue to develop the technology through co-creation and competition to ensure it can contribute broadly to society.”(Masahiro Moro, Representative Director, President and CEO, Mazda Motor Corporation)

Even as Subaru, Toyota, and Mazda compete in the product arena with unique engines and cars, the companies have a shared dedication to achieving carbon neutrality through a multi-pathway approach. Together with like-minded partners similarly skilled and passionate about engines, they will work to create the future of Japan’s auto industry.

3 Reels Vs 5 Reels | Slot Online in Cambodia

The Basics of 3 Reels Slots

3 reels slots are the traditional form of slot games, often referred to as classic slots. These games are characterized by their simplicity and straightforward gameplay, making them a favorite among both new and seasoned players. The primary appeal of 3 reel slots lies in their ease of play and the nostalgic feel they provide, reminiscent of the old-school slot machines found in land-based casinos.

In BK8 Cambodia, 3 reel Slot Online is a popular choice for those who appreciate the minimalistic approach to online casino in Cambodia. These games typically feature a limited number of paylines, usually ranging from one to five. This simplicity makes it easier for players to keep track of their bets and understand their winning combinations.

Exploring the Features of 5 Reels Slots

In contrast, 5 reels slots offer a more complex and engaging gaming experience. These slots are packed with features, including multiple paylines, bonus rounds, free spins, and a variety of symbols that can trigger special effects. The increased number of reels allows for more combinations and, consequently, more opportunities to win.

BK8KH and other best online casinos in Cambodia offer a wide range of 5 reel slots that cater to players looking for excitement and bigger rewards. The additional features and bonuses available in these slots make them a popular choice among players who enjoy a more dynamic and immersive gaming experience.

Pros and Cons of 3 Reels Slots

Back-to-Back Winner Newgarden Receives Largest Payout in ‘500’ History

INDIANAPOLIS (Monday, May 27, 2024) – The Indianapolis 500 purse record was shattered for the third year in a row after a weather-delayed 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, with two-time race winner Josef Newgarden of Team Penske earning $4.288 million from a total purse of $18,456,000.

After record-breaking payouts in 2022 and 2023, this is the largest purse and largest winner’s payout in the century-plus history of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” The year’s average payout for NTT INDYCAR SERIES drivers was $543,000, which also exceeds last year’s average of $500,600.

In 2023, the Indianapolis 500 purse was $17,021,500, and the year’s winner payout was $3.666 million. In 2022, the Indianapolis 500 purse was $16,000,200, and the winner earned $3.1 million. Prior to 2022, the largest Indianapolis 500 purse was $14.4 million for the 2008 Indianapolis 500.

Second-place finisher Pato O’Ward of Arrow McLaren took home $1,050,500, exceeding the take-home prize for last year’s second-place finisher.

“The Indianapolis 500 is the greatest race in the world, and this record-breaking purse is reflective of just how monumental competing in and winning at Indy is for these drivers,” Penske Entertainment President and CEO Mark Miles said. “Despite weather challenges, the Month of May featured packed grandstands and intense on-track action. Presenting this purse is the ideal end cap to an epic month.”

NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson earned Indianapolis 500 Rookie of the Year honors for his performance during the Month of May. Larson, driving for Arrow McLaren/Rick Hendrick, made his first attempt to complete “The Double,” by racing both the 108th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge and the NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600. Larson earned a $50,000 bonus for being named Rookie of the Year, adding to a total take-home prize of $178,000.

The Indianapolis 500 purse consists of Indianapolis Motor Speedway and NTT INDYCAR SERIES awards, plus other designated and special awards. Purse awards are presented annually at the Victory Celebration, held this year at the JW Marriott in downtown Indianapolis Monday night.

Newgarden’s purse included a $440,000 rollover bonus from BorgWarner for earning back-to-back wins in the “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” The jackpot increases by $20,000 each year but has only been awarded one other time since its inception when Helio Castroneves won the Indy 500 in both 2001 and 2002.

The next NTT INDYCAR SERIES race is the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear on Sunday, June 2 on the streets of Downtown Detroit. The race will be broadcast live on USA Network, Peacock and the INDYCAR Radio Network starting at noon (ET).

Note: The quotes in this article are fictional.

1. Denny Hamlin: Hamlin finished fifth in the Coca-Cola 600.

“The weather really prevented what was sure to be an exciting finish in the 600,” Hamlin said. “It was the very definition of anticlimactic. Anticlimactic could also be used to describe a fight that starts with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. punching Kyle Busch in the face and ends with Busch punching Stenhouse’s father in the face.”

2. Christopher Bell: Bell won Stage 2 at Charlotte and outgunned Brad Keselowski on the final restart before the race was stopped and eventually called official due to weather.

“I was fortunate enough to be in the lead when the race was stopped for weather,” Bell said. “Some may call it luck; I call it ‘storming’ to the front at just the right time.”

3. Brad Keselowski: Keselowski finished second at Charlotte, his third runner-up finish of the year.

“I can certainly relate to both Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and Kyle Busch,” Keselowski said. “Like Stenhouse, I’ve always wanted to punch Kyle, and like Kyle, I’ve been cursed with an extremely punchable face.”

4. Chase Elliott: Elliott finished seventh at Charlotte.

“My No. 9 Chevrolet featured the blacked-out NAPA paint scheme,” Elliott said. “Given the amount of alcohol my fans consume during a race, there’s a good chance they won’t even remember that paint scheme because they themselves have blacked out.”

5. Ty Gibbs: Gibbs started on the pole and finished seventh in the rain-shortened Coca-Cola 600.

“NASCAR’s $75,000 fine of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. indicates that they don’t condone fighting,” Gibbs said. “Their social media promotion of it says otherwise. I think I speak for all drivers when I say that I don’t mind having a black eye on the sport, but only if you define ‘sport’ as ‘Kyle Busch’s face.'”

6. Martin Truex Jr.: Truex struggled with handling issues at Charlotte and finished 12th.

“Congratulations to my Joe Gibbs Racing teammate Christopher Bell,” Truex said. “He was in the right place at the right time. Similarly, Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s right fist was in the right place at the left place, Kyle Busch’s cheek.”

7. William Byron: Byron won Stage 1 at Charlotte on his way to a third-place finish in the Coca-Cola 600.

“If not for a drive-through penalty at Indianapolis,” Byron said, “my HMS teammate Kyle Larson would have likely scored a top-10 finish in the 500. As it was though, he was a lot like Jerry Falwell watching his wife and the pool boy, because he ‘held his own.'”

8. Alex Bowman: Bowman finished ninth at Charlotte, posting his ninth top-10 of the season.

“Jimmie Johnson was at the Indianapolis 500 earlier on Sunday doing some commentating for NBC,” Bowman said, “and still made it to Charlotte to race in the 600. Jimmie’s still fast at getting from one point to another; now…just not getting from the starting line to the finish line.”

9. Ross Chastain: Chastain finished eight in the Coca-Cola 600.

“The Coca-Cola 600 is the longest single-day race in motor racing,” Chastain said. “It doesn’t quite last forever, although it may feel that way if you’re watching it.”

10. Kyle Larson: Larson finished 18th in the Indianapolis 500 earlier on Sunday then made his way to Charlotte Motor Speedway, where he arrived just as weather stopped the race and eventually ended it.

“There was also a weather delay at Indy,” Larson said, “so I really had to leave there in a hurry to even have a chance of driving in the Coco-Cola 600. So, while I didn’t get to ‘kiss the bricks,’ I did have to ‘hit the bricks.'”

Keselowski Finishes P2 to Lead RFK in Rain-Shortened Coca-Cola 600

Buescher P23 After 249 Laps Completed in Charlotte

CONCORD, N.C. (May 26, 2024) – The 2024 running of the Coca-Cola 600 was shortened Sunday night to just shy of 250 laps after inclement weather moved into the Concord area. After a lengthy delay, the race was deemed official due to ‘inclement weather, high humidity and the likelihood of resuming action after 1 a.m. with the track-drying process.’

Despite the controversy and what appeared to be a dry race track soon after, Brad Keselowski was credited with a second-place finish, his third of the season, while Chris Buescher was on the flip side of the call with a 23rd-place official result.

The finish for Buescher and the No. 17 Fastenal team capped off a grueling weekend, going to a backup car after Saturday’s practice and qualifying sessions, prompting a start at the tail end of the field.

For Keselowski and the No. 6 BuildSubmarines.com team, it’s the third-runner up result of the season, and fourth of second or better in the last six races.

“Yeah, it was pretty disappointing,” Keselowski said after the race. “I felt like we had a car to win the race. We kind of ran down the 20 car twice and just didn’t get to see it play out. Kind of slipped through our fingers there. Would have liked to have just had more laps and ran the Coke 600. I think we ran the Coke 350 today.

“All in all, really happy with our performance. Car was really fast, pit stops were phenomenal. Just didn’t get to see it through. Bummed for our team, bummed for everybody. But the weather is what the weather is.”

6 Recap
Keselowski’s qualifying effort was not indicative of the speed shown on Sunday, as he qualified 30th in Saturday’s single-car session.

He wasted no time improving upon that, though, advancing into the top-20 just 40 laps into Sunday’s action. He was scored 14th at the first yellow flag of the day at lap 86, restarted ninth and went on to finish eighth in the opening stage of 100 laps, a 22-spot improvement from the drop of the green flag.

The BuildSubmarines.com Ford fired off ninth to begin the second stage as Keselowski went on to long pit, ultimately inheriting second place before pitting again under green-flag conditions at lap 145. Three cautions then flew in the final 40 laps of the stage as Keselowski drove to fifth by lap 196, earning more stage points.

He rolled sixth for the third stage as inclement weather approached the area. Another caution flew at lap 228 with Keselowski back in the runner-up position, and after another solid stop, he fired off second for the race’s final restart at lap 234.

Then, at lap 246, NASCAR threw the caution for the final time – this time due to precipitation – in what ultimately led to red-flag conditions, and the decision to declare the race official.

17 Recap
Buescher had an eventful 250-lap race after starting the race with effectively a brand new car, after he lost a left-rear tire in practice on Saturday, resulting in a backup car for Sunday.

Despite starting at the rear, Buescher found himself near the front early and often, advancing all the way to second in the first pit cycle of the day at lap 50. He finished the opening stage in 15th, and worked his way back into the top-10 midway through stage two.

Pit road positioning issues throughout the night caused headache for Buescher and neighboring cars, which ultimately led to the No. 17 losing multiple positions in the opening set of stops. He finished the second stage in 11th, and was forced to restart 27th for the third stage.

He was scored 21st at lap 228 – the final yellow before weather – and restarted 26th at lap 234. But, due to the limited laps that ensued under green, Buescher was unable to regain any additional track position, finishing 23rd.
