BetMGM Goes All In with NASCAR Xfinity Entitlement, Speed Street Sponsorship at Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. (March 13, 2024) – BetMGM, which earlier this week ushered in a new era of sports entertainment in North Carolina with the launch of online sports betting, is going all in with its market access partner Charlotte Motor Speedway this May. The sports betting and iGaming leader has been named the entitlement sponsor of the BetMGM 300 race (part of the NASCAR’s Xfinity Series showdown at America’s Home for Racing on Saturday, May 25. In addition, BetMGM Speed Street will bring three full days of entertainment to fans in town for NASCAR’s tripleheader weekend at the iconic 1.5-mile Charlotte Motor Speedway.

“When we first started talking about a partnership with BetMGM, one of the things that interested us was finding a partner that would activate at our events and add value to the fan experience,” said Charlotte Motor Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Greg Walter. “Bringing them on as both the race entitlement and Speed Street sponsor will help elevate their brand to the NASCAR audience and provide those on-site for our race weekend the chance to connect and engage in North Carolina’s next era of sports entertainment.”

The sponsorship agreement includes naming rights for Saturday’s BetMGM 300 race, which pits up-and-coming NASCAR Xfinity Series drivers against one another in a pivotal 300-mile showdown on one of the sport’s biggest weekends of the season. BetMGM will also receive signage, hospitality and display activation in the BetMGM Speed Street, where fans will have the opportunity to download and learn more about the BetMGM sports betting app, which went live in North Carolina Monday.

Justin Haley, Driver of the No. 51 Ohanafy Ford Mustang Dark Horse

● Justin Haley, driver of the No. 51 Ohanafy Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Rick Ware Racing (RWR), will make his fourth start at Bristol Motor Speedway in Sunday’s Food City 500 NASCAR Cup Series race. The .533-mile track set in the mountains of East Tennessee played host to the series’ only dirt race each spring for the last three years. But no more, as The Last Great Colosseum will once again host both of its races this year on its iconic, high-banked concrete surface.

● In three starts on the traditional concrete surface, Haley has a best finish of 12th earned in September 2022. The 24-year-old also owns six NASCAR Xfinity Starts at Bristol with two top-10s.

● Bristol is the site of Haley’s career-first NASCAR national series start. On Aug. 19, 2015, a 16-year-old Haley made his first NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series start from the 21st position and took the checkered flag 14th against the likes of reigning Cup Series champion, Ryan Blaney, and the winningest driver in NASCAR history, Kyle Busch.

● Last Sunday’s race at Phoenix Raceway saw the debut of NASCAR’s enhaced short-track package. Despite qualifying 33rd, Haley and the No. 51 team made improvements over the race’s 312 laps and brought home a 24th-place finish, RWR’s best ever at Phoenix.

Kaz Grala, Driver of the No. 15 N29 Capital Partners Ford Mustang Dark Horse

● Sunday’s Food City 500 marks Kaz Grala’s first Cup Series short-track start and he will once again pilot the No. 15 N29 Capital Partners Ford Mustang Dark Horse.

● In two Xfinity Series starts at Bristol, Grala has a best finish of 10th earned last September. He’s finished no worse than 20th in eight of 13 Xfinity Series short-track starts. Grala also owns two top-five finishes in the ARCA Menards Series East at Bristol (2015 and 2016).

● In three races behind the wheel of the No. 15 RWR entry, Grala has a best finish of 14th earned Feb. 25 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and has completed 836 of 839 laps – 99.6 percent.

Rick Ware Racing Notes

● For the first time since 2021, the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup Series will head to Sebring (Fla.) International Raceway, where RWR drivers Cody Ware and Preston Pardus are set to compete in a weekend doubleheader that will make up rounds three and four of the 2024 schedule. Wednesday will see the pair practice and qualify for the first of two 45-minute races, set for Thursday afternoon on the 3.74-mile, 17-turn road circuit. Thursday’s results will the lineup for the Friday morning’s race. Both MX-5 Cup races will be streamed live on RACER.com and IMSA.tv.

● The Progressive American Flat Track (AFT) season kicked off last week with two-time AFT Singles champion Kody Kopp taking the win in his heat race and Al Lambs’ Dallas Honda Challenge exhibition race before running away with his first victory of the seaon in the main event. Kopp, who joined the RWR lineup just a week before the start of the season, took control of the race at mid-distance and took the checkered flag by a 1.502-second margin.

● Rick Ware has been a motorsports mainstay for more than 40 years. It began at age six when the third-generation racer began his driving career and has since spanned four wheels and two wheels on both asphalt and dirt. Competing in the SCCA Trans Am Series and other road-racing divisions led Ware to NASCAR in the early 1980s, where he finished third in his NASCAR debut – the 1983 Warner W. Hodgdon 300 NASCAR Grand American race at Riverside (Calif.) International Raceway. More than a decade later, injuries would force Ware out of the driver seat and into fulltime team ownership. In 1995, Rick Ware Racing was formed, and with wife Lisa by his side, Ware has since built his eponymous organization into an entity that fields two fulltime entries in the NASCAR Cup Series while simultaneously campaigning successful teams in the Top Fuel class of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, the LMP3 class of the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge, Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, Progressive American Flat Track and FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX), where RWR won the 2022 SX2 championship with rider Shane McElrath.

Where does Bristol rank on your list of favorite tracks?

“Bristol is an awesome track. I actually made my first NASCAR national series start there in a truck, so it’s always been a special place for me. I’ve always run pretty strong there. I finished sixth in the spring Bristol race last year but the track had dirt on it and they took that away, so I’m not sure how I’ll fair now. But, I love Bristol and it’s obviously one of a kind. It’s a cool place to race, so I’d say it’s pretty high.”

Sunday’s race at Phoenix was very trying for the No. 51 team, but you came out with a top-25 finish. What’s your mindset now, and how do you push through to the next race after tough races like the one you had last weekend?

“I’m good. I felt like we improved a lot by the end of the race. Learned a lot and are just steadily building up our notebook. You’re going to have those days, especially with a new team, but I just can’t let that stick with me. I’m in such a relaxed environment now. There’s pressure, but I’m at it every week. We’re all growing and building together and this team is relying on me and trusting me to do my part to be successful. I appreciate everything these guys do every week to get better and I feel like they truly appreciate me. As a racecar driver, you really can’t ask for anything more meaningful than a team that will go to battle with you and win and lose with you.”

Kaz Grala, Driver Q&A

As a driver who grew up short-track racing, this must be your favorite part of the season with Bristol, Richmond (Va.) Raceway and Martinsville (Va.) Speedway coming up over the next four weeks. What are you most looking forward to?

“I’m just excited to get to the short tracks, in general. I feel like that is where I can really do the most to give us a good result, but I’m also still learning the NextGen car, so we’ll definitely have to pack our patience and take what we can get. These tracks that are coming up are all so different but we’ll be able to learn something we can take to each, so hopefully we can build up some good momentum.”

What is the key to being successful at Bristol?

“Bristol is one of the coolest places we visit. If you get your car handling well, it could be a really good day and, as a driver, you really have to be able to find your rhythm and stick to it. Hopefully I can do that early on. The biggest thing everyone will face is staying out of the mess that is bound to happen at some point. Things happen quickly on a track as short and fast as Bristol, so staying focused goes a long way.”

Kamui Kobayashi returning to 23XI Racing for upcoming Cup event at COTA

23XI Racing took to social media to reveal the return of Kamui Kobayashi, who will be making his second NASCAR Cup Series career start at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, on March 24.

The 37-year-old Kobayashi from Amagasaki, Hyōgo, Japan, who currently competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship for Toyota Gazoo Racing and in Super Formula for Kids com Team KCMG, will be piloting a third 23XI Racing Toyota Camry XSE entry and compete alongside teammates Bubba Wallace and Tyler Reddick for the Cup Series’ first road-course event of the 2024 season. In addition to competing in the World Endurance region, he is also the team principal for Toyota Gazoo Racing.

The news comes seven months after Kobayashi made his Cup Series debut with 23XI Racing at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, where he recorded a 33rd-place result while piloting the team’s No. 67 Toyota entry. In doing so, Kobayashi joined Hideo Fukuyama as one of two Japanese competitors to compete in NASCAR’s premier series.

Kobayashi, who grew up competing in karts before moving up to open-wheel competition and competing in Formula Renault across the Italy, Germany, Netherlands and Asian championship regions, won the 2021 24 Hours of Le Mans in the FIA World Endurance Championship region while competing for Toyota Gazoo Racing. He would also achieve the 2019-20 FIA World Endurance Championship title in the LMP1 class before achieving another World Endurance championship in Hypercar during the 2021 season.

Kobayashi also made a total of 75 career starts in Formula One between 2009-12 and in 2014. He achieved a single podium result during the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka Circuit by finishing in third place while driving for the Sauber F1 Team. Additional achievements made by Kobayashi include the Japanese veteran winning the 2008-09 GP2 Asia Series title along with championships in both the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 and Formula Renault 2.0 Italy in 2005.

Kamui Kobayashi’s second NASCAR Cup Series career start is set to occur at Circuit of the Americas for the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix on March 24. The event’s broadcast time is scheduled to occur at 3:30 p.m. ET on FOX.

Recapping the Last Race: In his first Truck Series start of the season, Connor Mosack and the No 45 team qualified the Chevy Accessories 19th for Friday night’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Mosack and team ran a clean race, battling for position inside the top-20 for much of the race, ultimately ending the night in 19th-place.

Mosack on Last Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: “Definitely a lot of learning for me,” said Mosack. “I feel like at the beginning of the race I was a little too conservative with the truck, wanting to get comfortable with it. The truck started to get tight and didn’t realize how tight we were until we got later on in the run. We got it freed up later in the race and our speed was where it needed to be. I think there’s some things I can do to help that so I can be better for the next one. Thanks to Niece and Phil [Gould] for bringing a great truck and we’ll be ready for the next one.”

Recapping the Last Race: Matt Mills and the No. 42 J.F. Electric/Utilitra truck lined up 22nd to start Friday night’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Fighting a tight truck, Mills battled for position in the top-20 for much of the race. Contact with the wall late in the race caused a flat tire and forced Mills down pit road for repairs, ultimately leaving the No. 42 team with a 31st-place finish.

Mills on Last Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: “We’d just started working our way up the field,” said Mills. “On restarts we just had to be smart and pick them up where we could. As it started getting dicey towards the end, I ultimately got in dirty air.”

Recapping the Last Race: Bayley Currey qualified the No. 41 Niece Chevrolet in 17th-place to start Friday night’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Even with a mid-pack starting spot, Currey felt confident about the speed in his truck. Unfortunately, an early accident caused severe damage to the back of the No. 41 truck, forcing Currey down pit road for repairs. Currey would finish the night in 28th-place.

Currey on Last Race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway: “I made too aggressive of a move too early,” said Currey. “I thought it would work. We were rolling forward from the jump and made that move and put myself in a bad spot. We lost the air on the right side, spun around, and hit the wall. From there, I had to maintain all night being three laps down. I’m really proud of Niece for bringing me a great truck. I hate the fact I ruined the night, but I will learn from it, come back, and be stronger for Bristol.”

PLANO, Texas (March 13, 2024) – NASCAR makes its first of two trips to Bristol Motor Speedway in 2024 where the Cup Series runs its fifth race of the season and it will mark the fourth event for the Truck Series.

Coming off win, Bell looks for Bristol Spring repeat … Christopher Bell captured Toyota’s first points-paying Cup Series win of the season last weekend at Phoenix, locking himself into the Playoffs and catapulting himself to ninth in the points standings. The Oklahoma native is also the reigning Bristol Spring race winner, the victor of the final Bristol dirt race. Should he win again at the half-mile circuit, Bell would be the first Cup Series driver to reach two wins in 2024.

NASCAR history made … On Sunday at Phoenix Raceway, Toyota made NASCAR history as five drivers led 50 or more laps in the race. No other manufacturer has ever had five drivers lead 50 or more laps in a single race in NASCAR history. The history makers were – Denny Hamlin (68), Tyler Reddick (68), Ty Gibbs (57), Martin Truex Jr. (55) and Bell (50).

Spring Bristol returns to concrete … After a three-year stint with dirt, the first Bristol race of the season is back on the famed half-mile concrete surface, which bodes well for some of the Toyota stable. Joe Gibbs Racing’s (JGR) Hamlin is a three-time winner on the Bristol concrete and is coming off a win in the Saturday night fall race last season. Erik Jones of LEGACY MOTOR CLUB returns to Bristol Motor Speedway in a Toyota Camry, where he’s finished in the top-five in half of his previous Bristol starts with Toyota back when he was with JGR from 2017-2020.

Gibbs continues strong start in sophomore season … Living up to predictions of a strong second season in the Cup Series, Gibbs comes to Bristol off his best career finish of third at Phoenix last weekend. The 21-year-old started on the front row and led 57 laps on the way to his podium finish. The great run also makes it three consecutive top-10s for Gibbs in the first four races, as he now sits sixth in the series points standings, along with fellow Toyota drivers, Truex (third) and Reddick (fifth).

Heim, Gray in strong points positions … After a week off, the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series returns to action at Bristol Motor Speedway. Toyota Development Drivers, Corey Heim and Taylor Gray, come into the weekend both in the top-ten of the Truck Series points with Heim in third and Gray in sixth. Heim has finished in the top three in each race so far this season and Gray is coming off consecutive fourth-place finishes.

Sawalich makes 2024 Trucks debut … Fresh off his dominating ARCA Menards Series victory last weekend, William Sawalich will race the No. 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro for TRICON Garage this weekend. The 17-year-old made six starts in the Truck Series a year ago, with an impressive finish of sixth at Indianapolis Raceway Park last August.

Heim seeks back-to-back at Bristol … Heim aims to continue his strong start to 2024 by repeating as the Truck Series winner at Bristol Motor Speedway, to which he won the fall Bristol race last season, his final victory of 2023. This will be Heim’s third start at the half-mile oval where he has a top-10 finish to go along with that victory a season ago.

How to Respond if Someone Cuts You Off on the Road

Getting cut off, whether on purpose or through another driver’s genuine mistake, can result in a frustrating and potentially dangerous situation. While you may initially feel anger or the need to retaliate, prioritizing the safety of yourself and others on the road is crucial. Whatever Happens, Stay Calm and Composed

When another driver cuts you off, feeling an immediate surge of adrenaline and frustration is natural. Staying vigilant and anticipating the actions of others on the road is another crucial defensive driving technique to use. Remain aware of your surroundings, scan your mirrors frequently, and identify potential hazards. Erratic driving behaviors such as speeding, weaving in and out of traffic, or failing to use turn signals should be viewed as immediate signs of potential danger. When you actively anticipate situations where someone may cut you off, you can take proactive actions such as slowing down or changing lanes safely.

De-Escalating a Potentially Dangerous Situation

Reacting aggressively after someone cuts you off, even if they did so intentionally, only serves to escalate the severity of the situation and put people at risk. Instead, focus on de-escalating the situation to the best of your ability. Don’t stare down or make rude gestures at the driver who cut you off, as this can make the situation significantly worse.  

When it comes to your own driving, be sure to use your turn indicators properly so other motorists understand your intentions. If you change lanes and the driver who initially cut you off attempts to merge back into your lane, give them the space to do so safely. You should always attempt to navigate the situation calmly and safely. Punishing the other driver for their mistake just makes the road more dangerous for everyone on it.

Don’t Dwell on the Incident

Dwelling on the encounter can distract you from your primary responsibility, which is the safe operation of your vehicle. Once the immediate danger has passed, do your best to let go of any anger or frustration and refocus your attention on staying in control of your car.

While not every instance of poor driving warrants a formal report, you may consider reporting extreme reckless driving that poses a significant threat to safety. Provide details such as the vehicle description, license plate number (if visible), and the time and location of the incident.

CORVETTE RACING AT SEBRING: ‘The Ultimate Test’

Corvette GT3 program looking to add to brand’s rich history of 12 Hours success

DETROIT (March 13, 2024) – The new-look Corvette Racing program is headed to one of the toughest and most extreme tests in all of motorsports – the 72nd running of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Cadillac.

The rough-and-tumble Sebring International Raceway in central Florida is steeped in Corvette Racing lore with countless tests plus 29 races during a quarter-century of Corvette competition. That should bode well for the fortunes of the four Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R entries entered for this America’s oldest sports car race.

Two of the Corvette GT3 cars are entered in each of the GT classes of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship – a pair for Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports in GTD PRO and an additional two for AWA in GTD.

The goal for each team is to put Corvette back on the top step of the podium – a place Corvette Racing has stood 14 times leading into this year’s running. Operated by Pratt Miller Engineering, the Corvette factory team has tasted victory each of the last two years – 2022 in GTD PRO and 2023 in the GTE Am class of the FIA World Endurance Championship.

The current Corvette/PMM team tested the Corvette Z06 GT3.R at Sebring in November in order to gather valuable data on the first-year car ahead of the season’s most grueling race across the bumps and concrete of the 3.74-mile, 17-turn Sebring circuit. The lineups remain the same from the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona: Antonio Garcia, Alexander Sims and Daniel Juncadella in the No. 3 Oshkosh / Mobil 1 Corvette with Tommy Milner, Nicky Catsburg and Earl Bamber sharing the No. 4 Oshkosh / Mobil 1 Corvette.

The six Corvette factory drivers have a combined 11 victories at Sebring.

In GTD, the AWA team will make its second start with the Corvette brand after debuting at Daytona. The squad enjoyed a solid Sebring 12 Hours a year ago in LMP3 with the No. 13 trio of Orey Fidani, Matt Bell and Lars Kern finishing second in class.

They will team again in this year’s race while 2023 fourth-place LMP3 finishers Anthony Mantella and Nico Varrone – a winner last year for Corvette Racing in the FIA WEC’s 1,000 Miles of Sebring – are set to drive with Rolex 24 teammate Thomas Merrill.

The Corvette Z06 GT3.R is Chevrolet’s first car built to global GT3 regulations. It’s based on the production Corvette Z06 supercar with the two sharing a significant amount of DNA.

The racecar is built on the same production aluminum chassis frame – from Chevrolet’s Bowling Green (Ky.) Assembly plant – as the road-going Z06. Similar carbon-fiber splitters for front downforce, and the surface area from the top of the windshield to the rear of the Z06 remained intact on the Z06 GT3.R. That includes side air ducts behind the doors — directly inspired by Z06 production road car — that help to cool the engine, transaxle and rear brakes.

The similarities carry over to the hand-built 5.5L, flat-plane crankshaft V8 engine in the Z06 GT3.R. Both original from the Bowling Green factory with the racing version sharing 80 percent of the production content from the Z06, including the crankshaft, connecting rods, cylinder heads, fuel injectors, coils, gaskets and a variety of other sensors.

Celebrating Mobil 1’s 50th Anniversary

To mark the 50th anniversary of Corvette technical partner Mobil 1, both the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvettes from Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports will contest Sebring with special Mobil 1-inspired liveries. Both cars – plus the No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R in GTP – will feature celebratory Mobil 1 gold along with the Mobil 1 Pegasus, which throughout its history has symbolized speed and power within the brand. The Mobil 1 brand and its partners will be highlighting the brand’s legacy and future at Sebring, as well as off the track through the rest of this monumental anniversary year.

For more than 25 years, the Mobil 1 brand has been an integral part of the Corvette Racing program. It was the only lubricant used by the factory racing effort dating back to the first on-track tests of the Corvette C5-R in 1997. The Mobil 1 brand continues as a primary sponsor of the Pratt Miller-run Corvette Z06 GT3.R team, and since 1993 has been the factory fill for all new production Corvettes.

Chevrolet Motorsports Display, Ride and Drive Return to Sebring

In addition to the many happenings on the racetrack at Sebring, fans will have plenty to see and experience from Chevrolet. That’s because two locations at the circuit – Chevrolet’s Motorsports Display and the Chevrolet Ride and Drive – will be full of Chevy vehicles that spectators can learn more about throughout the weekend.

The Chevrolet Motorsports Display opens at 9 a.m. Thursday and Friday plus 8 a.m. Saturday in the Sebring Midway. Numerous Chevrolet vehicles and other highlights include:

  • The Corvette Z06 GT3.R showcar along with the 2023 Corvette Z06 coupe
  • Corvette Stingray convertible
  • Additional Chevrolet products such as Traverse Z71, Blazer EV RS, Silverado 1500, Colorado ZR2, Tahoe RST, Silverado 2500HD
  • An example of the LT6.R engine in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R
  • An opportunity to receive a 2024 Chevrolet Motorsports t-shirt

Also beginning Thursday, fans visiting the Sebring Skidpad outside of Turn 17 can sample a Chevrolet vehicle for themselves at the Ride and Drive event. Starting at 9 a.m. each day, spectators have the chance to test a wide variety of Chevrolets including Blazer RS, Tahoe High Country, Silverado 1500, TrailBlazer Active and Trax Active.

The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Cadillac is scheduled for 9:40 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 16. The race will air on USA Network from 4-10 p.m. ET with full streaming coverage on Peacock at 9:30 a.m. ET. IMSA Radio will air all on-track sessions beginning at IMSA.com along with Sirius 216, XM 207, SiriusXM Online 992 and 100.9 FM at the circuit.

Already we have some notes and data from testing over the bumps late last year so that should help us arrive with a good baseline. ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m looking forward to Sebring a heck of a lot. The way last year’s race worked out still perplexes me! So now it will be cool to go there and try to get my first Sebring GT win, after coming home second a few seasons ago. Having driven the car there in testing, it felt good. It was probably the most challenging track I’ve been on so far in trying to get used to the ABS with the bumps throughout. We’ve made gains with the car since the test but difficult to know what those are like and how relevant they are to the Sebring track and the surface. As we gain general understanding of the car and the tires, things are going in a positive direction.”

DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Sebring is an event that starts in the day and ends at night, which is very unique. The track is very cool with a lot of history behind it. It’s definitely one of the highlight races in IMSA. I’ve always heard that the Corvette is a very good car around Sebring, and that’s exciting as well. I’ve raced two times there and came second and third. Hopefully if we are on the podium, we will be on that missing step.

“This is no secret or mystery – winning at Sebring is more exciting than winning at a lot of other places. It’s a race where a lot of things happen over the 12 hours. There is so much history behind it. It’s a very cool event. I’ve only raced there twice but already feel like I know the track very well. I feel like I have raced there a lot more, but I have done a lot of laps on simulators over the years. That makes it easier to get to grips.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m always excited to go to Sebring. It gives us a chance to see how the Z06 GT3.R will be in a configuration that will carry on through the rest of the year. We’ve done a lot of testing at Sebring, including with this car. Historically the Corvette racecars have always been very strong over the bumps, and this car seems no different than previous generations. So we’re anticipating a good race from our side. As always, Sebring is famously rough on equipment and drivers! I’m confident we’ve addressed the issues that we experienced in testing and at Daytona. I’m super happy with how driving with Earl and Nicky ended up. They both did a fantastic job, as expected. I’m going into the weekend with high hopes and expectations. But it’s still a new car and a new season. We’ll see how things go once we get on track for practice.”

NICKY CATSBURG, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “The last couple of years at Sebring have been good for me personally, winning there and dominating in WEC and then the year before with Antonio and Jordan we won in IMSA. So it’s been quite good and I look forward to continuing that streak. I do have high hopes. Yes, Daytona was difficult but the car already showed some good pace. I do not believe we were too slow to fight for a podium. Maybe we could not have fought for a win, but there some small technical issues which we should struggle with less going forward. We have had more time to discover the time, and a 24-hour race is not the easiest race to start with. The team continues to progress and we have improved the car from where it was weak in Daytona. So we should be strong there. The team knows how to set up the car really well at Sebring, and I believe they know exactly what to do so we can extract the most speed out of it. I like the car, we have a great team and great teammates. I cannot wait for Sebring to come so we can fight for a victory.”

EARL BAMBER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “The debut of the Corvette at Daytona was exciting. We showed that we had good form to run at the front. When we tested at Sebring, the car also was really strong. Of all the GT3 cars recently that I’ve driven, the Corvette is one of the stronger packages, and at Sebring it was really good too. The Pratt Miller guys have been working hard to rectify the small teething things we had at Daytona, and I think we’ll come out swinging at Sebring. It’s a track that has suited Corvette for a long time. Doing my first race with them, I can see why they beat us and won so many championships when you look at the side of the truck. I’m looking forward to getting down there and giving it a good shot at another endurance racing classics.”
