TPC Racing Brings Two-Car Lamborghini Super Trofeo Entry to Vallelunga for 2023 World Finals

  • Shehan Chandrasoma and Nikko Reger Co-Drive the No. 120 TPC Racing Lamborghini Austin Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 in Pro-Am
  • Alan Grossberg Competes in the No. 102 TPC Racing/Dream Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 in the LB Cup Class

ROME, Italy (November 14, 2023) – TPC Racing has arrived at Autodromo Vallelunga in Italy and has already put in laps on the 2.538-mile circuit with its pair of Lamborghini Huracan EVO2 entries in preparation for this weekend’s Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals on the 15-turn road course located less than 20 miles Northwest of Rome.

After making the team’s first major international race start in last year’s World Finals in Portugal, TPC Racing returns for this year’s running of the worldwide season-ending event in Italy with the Pro-Am pairing of Shehan Chandrasoma and Nikko Reger and LB Cup class competitor Alan Grossberg.

Chandrasoma and Reger co-drive the No. 120 Lamborghini Austin Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 and come to Italy with the momentum of a pair of podium finishes in the final North American rounds of the Super Trofeo championship one race ago on the road course at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS).

The third-place finishes at Indy moved Chandrasoma to third in the Pro-Am point standings with just the two season-ending races remaining in the North American championship Thursday and Friday in Vallelunga.

Grossberg drives solo in the No. 102 TPC Racing/Dream Racing Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2 after returning to the series with TPC one race ago at Indianapolis after nearly a year away from the championship. His best finish in the competitive LB Cup class at Indy was ninth with a goal of improving on that result in both rounds of the North American championship doubleheader this week.

In addition to TPC Racing and its North American series competitors, the World Finals also include teams and drivers from the Super Trofeo European and Asian championships. All conclude their respective national seasons Thursday and Friday before competing against each other Saturday and Sunday in twin World Finals races. All races are 50-minute sprints and the World Finals doubleheaders will see Pro and Pro-Am teams share the track in each race while LB Cup competes alongside Am-class competitors in their pair of races.

Harris Levitas, Director of Race Operations: “The TPC Racing team is very excited for the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals in Vallelunga. We didn’t compete for a full-season championship this year, but that will change for next season for sure. For now, we are just going to focus all we can on the finals in Italy. Shehan Chandrasoma and Nikko Reger made the trip to co-drive the No. 120 Lamborghini Austin car and Alan Grossberg is in the No. 102 in the LB Cup class. Shehan and Nikko have a good shot in the fight for Shehan to finish second in the Pro-Am class season championship. We are going to work as hard as we can and do all that we can to help Shehan achieve that championship podium result. It has been a really good season so far. We came in only halfway through but earned some really great results with podium showings in about half of the races we have contested. Can’t really ask for more than that. Some very strong finishes, solid results, and we have brought that momentum here to the World Finals and will take it into the 2024 season.”

Shehan Chandrasoma, Driver, No. 120 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2: “We were aiming for first in the Pro-Am championship from the beginning of the season, of course, but we have had lots and lots of terrible luck. We’re not going to be able to finish first in the championship, it’s just not realistic, but second or third, depending on how it goes, is definitely attainable. The first two races count for points in the Super Trofeo North America Championship, and the last two races are all the European and Asian competitors and the American guys all in one race. Hopefully we can win the Pro-Am World Finals.”

Nikko Reger, Driver, No. 120 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo EVO2: “We’ve worked this whole year, and it’s been a rollercoaster of a season. There have been a couple of different drivers in this car, and Shehan has been really fighting and trying to maintain his championship hopes. I think going into this last one, we’ve just got to put our heads down and remember what we’re made of. We’ll try to show the Europeans a taste of American determination! I’ve never been to Vallelunga, so there’s a whole lot to learn. I know the European drivers have been here, they test here, it’s a regular track for them. We’ve got an uphill battle but it’s fun to be the underdogs.”

(BROWNSBURG, Indiana.) November 14, 2023 — Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti (WTRAndretti) announced today that 2009 FIA Formula One World Champion, Jenson Button, and 2022 Indianapolis 500 Champion and newly named Andretti Global NTT INDYCAR SERIES driver, Marcus Ericsson, will complete the Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti Acura ARX-06 GTP driver lineups for the season opener of the 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the Rolex 24 At Daytona. Marcus Ericsson will help co-pilot the No. 10 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 GTP alongside Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque, and Brendon Hartley while Jenson Button will assist Jordan Taylor, Louis Delétraz and Colton Herta in the No. 40 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 GTP.

Entering his second Rolex 24 At Daytona, Ericsson is eager to add another iconic motorsport title to his resume. Joining Andretti Global beginning with the 2024 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season, the 2022 Indianapolis 500 winner also has three additional wins and 16 top-five finishes in his five seasons. The Swedish-driver previously competed at the 24-hour event in 2022, but finished sixth in the former DPi class, multiple laps down from the leader. As a star on the scene in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Ericsson’s racing career also includes starts in Formula One, a Formula BMW UK Championship and Japanese Formula Three Championship.

Fresh off his IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and GTP debut at the 2023 MOTUL Petit Le Mans, Button will compete in his first Rolex 24 At Daytona of his career at the 2024 event. The 2009 Formula One World Champion most recently competed in the historic Garage 56 program at the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans, his second appearance at the famed 24-hour event, where he worked closely with now co-driver and teammate, Jordan Taylor. Button’s competition with WTRAndretti in the No. 40 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 also marks the British driver’s return to the Honda racing family after competing under their banner in his Formula One career. The British driver’s diverse resume includes not only open-wheel cars, but sportscar racing, rally racing and starts in stock car racing.
The 2024 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season kicks off with the annual three days of Roar Before the 24 testing, January 19 – 21, 2024, followed by the endurance classic, the Rolex 24 At Daytona, January 25-28, 2024. NBC and Peacock, along with IMSA.TV, will provide flag-to-flag coverage of the race on its family of networks.

If media members are interested in speaking further with the newly announced 2024 WTRAndretti drivers, please contact Megan Barnhart, mba@coforce.com, to coordinate directly.

Jenson Button, 2024 No. 40 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 GTP Rolex 24 Co-Driver:
“I am very happy to announce that I’ll be racing with Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in the No. 40 Acura ARX-06 with one of my Le Mans teammates and good pal Jordan Taylor, super speedy Louis Delétraz and Colton Herta whose career in IndyCar I’ve watched with great interest. I had my first taste of IMSA last month at Petit Le Mans and loved it. I couldn’t be happier to race at Daytona with such a prestigious team that has achieved so much in endurance racing and especially at Daytona.”

Marcus Ericsson, 2024 No. 10 WTRAndretti Acura ARX-06 GTP Rolex 24 Co-Driver:
“I’m very excited and proud to join the WTRAndretti team for the Daytona 24-hour. After getting a taste of the race in 2022, I have been eager to get back on the grid for this legendary race. It feels fantastic to be racing with one of the best and most successful teams in the sport! I’m already counting down the days and I’m looking forward to working with the team and my new teammates. It is extra special for me to be racing with Acura, HPD and HRC which I know very well from racing my entire INDYCAR career with them. Bring on 2024!”

Wayne Taylor, Team Principal, Wayne Taylor Racing with Andretti:
“Marcus is absolutely the perfect guy for our team because of the way he goes about racing. He’s finished in the top 10 something like 30 times in IndyCar, he’s won the Indy 500. He has really shown loads of interest by meeting with the team already and he is very dedicated and focused. I’m happy to have him, and of course, as he is part of Andretti Global program, so we are lucky to have him.

Jenson and I have spoken for quite a few years. We’ve just never been able to make it happen, but this round we got it to happen. He drove for JDC at Petit Le Mans and the relationship that he’s built with Jordan from the Garage 56 program closes the loop on our driver lineups as Jenson will take the last driver slot that’s open. The guy is really fast. I mean he is a Formula One World Champion. He’s very motivated, my team is very motivated, HPD and Acura are motivated with having him as well as all our sponsors. We look forward to working with him. He obviously is coming from a different background, but we’ve had Formula One drivers before, and they’ve all done really well. I have no question about his ability to do well for us and for himself. I’m really excited after three years to finally get Jenson to sign up with us.”

Michael Andretti, Chairman and CEO, Andretti Global:
“I’m very happy with the driver lineups that WTRAndretti will put forth in both the No. 10 and No. 40 Acura ARX-06 GTP cars for Daytona. WTRAndretti has a strong history of running at the top level and we’re pushing hard to put together all the pieces to bring home race wins and have two cars contending for the Championship. The addition of Marcus and Jenson to an already proven roster of endurance drivers will make for an exciting and competitive 24 hours.”

David Salters, President and Technical Director, HPD:
“Can you believe it? Once again, my compliments to WTRAndretti for putting together a truly impressive lineup for the pair of Acura ARX-06 entries competing at the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January. With the addition of Honda-powered Indianapolis 500 winner Marcus Ericsson and Formula One World Champion Jenson Button – another driver long affiliated with Honda – they’ve managed to add still more talent to an already impressive lineup. This is fantastic for all concerned at Acura, HPD, WTRAndretti and of course the fans!”

Multi-Platinum Recording Artist Riley Green to Perform Pre-Race Concert for EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at COTA

AUSTIN, Texas (Nov. 14, 2023) – Multi-platinum country-music superstar Riley Green will get Austin rocking with a Texas-sized pre-race concert before the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at Circuit of The Americas (COTA) on Sunday, March 24, 2024.

“My grandaddy was a huge fan of NASCAR and passed on his love for it to me,” said Green. ”He inspired my song ‘Numbers On The Cars,’ so I’m excited to get out to COTA and play before the big race. I’ll see y’all there!”

Green is scheduled to perform a 60-minute concert, pulling from his wide range of hits like “There Was This Girl,” “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” and “Georgia Time” in addition to his Top 20-and-climbing single, “Different ‘Round Here” (featuring Luke Combs) and other songs from his recently released second album, Ain’t My Last Rodeo. Following the concert, the green flag will fall on the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix as NASCAR makes a high-profile stop at one of the world’s premier road courses, Circuit of The Americas.

The pre-race concert, which will take place on the frontstretch infield of the 3.41-mile road course, is free for fans with an EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix ticket. Fans can upgrade with a Track Pass for stage-front access to the concert and NASCAR Cup Series driver introductions.

Raised on the sounds of traditional country, bluegrass and Southern gospel music, Green learned the spirit of songwriting and performing at a young age while spending time with his grandfather, Buford Green, who created the Golden Saw Music Hall in their hometown of Jacksonville, Ala. Prior to pursuing his passion in country music, the duck-hunting enthusiast who once played quarterback at Jacksonville State University worked with his family framing houses.

Green burst onto the scene with his 2018 debut album, Different ‘Round Here (BMLG Records), which included the two-time, Platinum-certified hit “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” and the Platinum-certified single “There Was This Girl.” The 2020 ACM Awards New Male Artist of the Year is currently on the road on his own headlining dates in addition to touring across North America on the Luke Combs World Tour with Lainey Wilson. About Riley Green:

Riley Green has been compelling Country music fans to raise a drink, shed a tear, and, above all, celebrate where they are from, since first releasing his self-titled EP in 2018. His songs like the No. 1 PLATINUM hit “There Was This Girl,” the 2X-PLATINUM-certified heart-tugger “I Wish Grandpas Never Died” (which he performed live at the 55th ACM Awards), and his chart-topping collab with Thomas Rhett, “Half of Me,” have made Riley synonymous with what Country music does best: making listeners feel something with his no-gimmick, relatable writing and classic feel.

An avid sports fan, former athlete (Jacksonville State University quarterback) and outdoorsman, Riley is riding a wave of success after being named the Academy of Country Music’s 2020 New Male Artist of the Year, a former MusicRow Breakout Artist of the Year, a CMT “Listen Up Artist,” and one of CRS’s 2020 New Faces. Now playing to an average of 65,000 fans each night serving as direct support for Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs this year, Green headlined the Rock The South festival and is selling out his own headlining shows. Combs joins Riley on his current Top 25-and-climbing single “Different ‘Round Here (Ft. Luke Combs),” the title track to Riley’s 2019 debut album that he re-recorded with Combs after seeing how fans connected to it.

His new album Ain’t My Last Rodeo, produced by Dann Huff, is more of the signature Riley Green fans have come to know and love from the good ol’ boy who still lives in his hometown of Jacksonville, AL. The project, heavily influenced by the rural, small town and slower way of life at home and time spent with his family, is available now via BMLG Records. Chevrolet Wins NHRA Manufacturers Cup for the 28th Time

With Success Seen in Multiple Categories During the 2023 NHRA Season, Team Chevy Drivers in Nitro, Pro Stock, and FlexJet Factory Stock Showdown Contribute to Season Triumph

DETROIT (November 14, 2023) – For the record-extending 28th time, Chevrolet has been awarded the National Hot Rod Association’s (NHRA) Manufacturers Cup and is recognized as the top manufacturer of the series in 2023. With success contributed by Team Chevy drivers and teams in multiple classes including but not limited to Funny Car, Pro Stock, FlexJet Factory Stock Showdown, the Bowtie brand was awarded the honor during the Monday, Nov. 13th NHRA Awards Ceremony in at the Pechanga Resort Casino in Temecula, California.

For the seventh consecutive year, and the ninth time in the past 11 seasons, Chevrolet has been presented the award for being the automobile manufacturer whose current-year models earn the most points for qualifying and category victories in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series and NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series regional and divisional events.

Points are awarded to entries in Funny Car, Pro Stock, Super Stock, and Stock Eliminator classes, as well as the FlexJet Factory Stock Showdown category.

Chevrolet first earned the award in 1966, and no other manufacturer has won the award more times than the Bowtie brand. General Motors brands Oldsmobile and Pontiac combined to win 24 titles between 1971 and 2006.

“Thanks to our Chevrolet teams who delivered valuable points towards capturing the 2023 Manufacturers Cup,” said Jim Campbell, Chevrolet U.S. Vice President, Performance and Motorsports. “These drivers, team members and owners in the professional and Sportsman classes were critical to Chevrolet winning the Manufacturers Cup for the 28th time.”

With numerous victories and noteworthy moments across Funny Car, and Pro Stock, FlexJet Factory Stock Showdown, Super Stock, and Stock Eliminator categories, Chevrolet showed prowess at notable times like a tripe-up victory at zMAX Dragway by John Force Racing’s Robert Hight (Funny Car) and Austin Prock (Top Fuel), and KB Titan Racing’s Deric Kramer (Pro Stock), as well as Erica Enders capturing her 47th victory, all with Team Chevy, at the Texas Motorplex’s NHRA Texas FallNationals to become the winningest female in NHRA history.

Racing to the nitro winners’ circle five times in 2023, Chevrolet also captured their 19th Pro Stock driver championship with Erica Enders and Elite Motorsports, while now holding 282 event victories in the category since 1970, 263 in the Camaro nameplate.

Despite the Top Fuel class not counting toward Manufacturers Cup points in NHRA, John Force Racing’s Brittany Force and Austin Prock, as well as their teams, both made notable performances and contributions to the Bowtie brand this season, with Force making memorable passes to qualify No. 1 six times during the season, and Prock getting his fourth career win at Charlotte’s four-wide event.

The 2024 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series begins March 8-10, 2023, with the NHRA Gatornationals from Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville, Fla. A broadcast schedule for the 2024 season with NHRA on FOX will be released in the near future.

CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR SERIES WRAPS UP 2023 SEASON AT BAKERSFIELD AND PLACERVILLE

(Torrance, CA, November 13, 2023) The California Lightning Sprint car series will conclude its 28th season this week with races at the Bakersfield Speedway and the Placerville Speedway. The 7th Annual Western States Lightning Sprint Car Championship presented by Channel Islands Floorcoverings will kick off the busy week at Bakersfield on Tuesday, November 14th. It will be the final points-paying race of the CLS season, and the finale of the CLS/POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprints “Best of the West Series.” The CLS will then head north to close 2023 with Bay Cities Racing Association at the prestigious Hangtown 100 on Friday and Saturday, November 17th and 18th.

Heading into Saturday’s clash at Bakersfield, legendary Bobby Michnowicz is on the cusp of his historic sixth CLS championship. Going into the race on “The West’s Fastest 1/3-Mile High Banked Clay Oval,” the Oak Hills driver has a 111-point lead over Palmdale’s Eric Greco. With only 142 points available on the night, Michnowicz could see the championship decided before the main event.

Behind the lead duo, there will be a tremendous fight to the finish for third. Lakewood’s Aiden Lange is third coming into the battle on the famous Kern County clay oval. However, he is only 31 points ahead of “Rockstar” Jon Robertson of Torrance. If that is not tight enough, 2022 Rookie of the Year Connor Speir of Fillmore is just 25 points behind Robertson and 56 markers shy of Lange. Those three spots could be completely flip-flopped by night’s end.

In the Best of the West Series finale, the same two drivers are on top with Michnowicz again leading the way. Greco, a Glendale College first-year student, only trails Michnowicz in the BWS by 64 points. Yucca Valley’s Jeff Dyer is third with defending POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint champion Brent Sexton of Lakeside fourth. Speir is fifth.

The bad news for all of the competition is that Michnowicz has won three of the first six Western States Lightning Sprint Car Championships. Those three wins have come in the past four runnings of the event including last year’s edition. The good news for the competitors is the fact that he has only captured one of the four CLS main events at the “Okie Bowl” this year. Other Bakersfield victors in 2023 are San Diego’s AJ Bender, California Highway Patrol Officer Dyer, and Colorado’s Chris Crowder.

In addition to the regular purse, Channel Islands Floorcovering is guaranteeing the winner will take home more than $500.00 and all starters will get at least $100.00. In addition, there is $1,250.00 in lap money with $25.00 to the leader of each lap, $15.00 for the driver in second, and $10.00 for the third place racer. AG Sandcars/XXX Racing is paying $50.00 to the winner of heat #1. The winner of heat #2 will get $50.00 courtesy of T Shirts By Timeless. The heat three is going to pocket $50.00 from Iza.ini. Brent Horn’s Iron Alliance Engineering is rewarding the fastest qualifier with $100.00 and PJ Beneditti has $100.00 for the main event Hard Charger.

In addition to those titles being decided on Tuesday, the SWLS crown will be settled as well. Dyer has a comfortable 71-point lead over Sexton going into the closer. Threatening Sexton is Dyer’s 16-year-old son Seth. He is just 11 points behind Sexton. Last Saturday at Perris Jeff Dyer won the main event after both Sexton and Seth broke.

As well as the series regulars, another factor in Saturday’s show will be Brodey Graham. The 15-year-old high school football player shocked the CLS regulars when he jumped into a lightning sprint car for the first time and spanked the field in the main event at the Ventura Raceway on October 28th. PRO STOCK MOTORCYCLE’S CHASE VAN SANT NAMED 2023 NHRA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

TEMECULA, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2023) – After a successful debut NHRA season, Pro Stock Motorcycle standout Chase Van Sant has been named the 2023 NHRA Rookie of the Year in the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series.

The four other NHRA pros eligible for the award were Top Fuel driver Dan Mercier, as well as Pro Stock competitors David Cuadra, Eric Latino and Jerry Tucker. The NHRA Rookie of the Year award honors a first-year standout competitor within the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series ranks.

“The 2023 season was a great rookie year for us,” Van Sant said. “We went to four semifinals this season and I’m really proud of the work we did. I think we’re just getting started. I’d like to thank my family for getting me into racing and the whole White Alligator Racing team for giving me the opportunity.”

Van Sant made his Pro Stock Motorcycle debut in Gainesville at the NHRA Gatornationals, advancing to the semifinals. It was the first of his four semifinal appearances that combined with four quarterfinal finishes allowed Van Sant to finish the season ninth in points. By advancing to the semifinals during the regular season, he was able to compete in the new Mission #2Fast2Tasty NHRA Challenge.

Canadian Top Fuel driver Dan Mercier qualified for seven national events, including the Norwalk race where he picked up a round win over Top Fuel champion Doug Kalitta.

Pro Stock drivers Cuadra, Latino and Tucker also took to the track in the very competitive class.

Cuadra joined his family, which includes father Fernando Sr. and brothers Fernando Jr. and Cristian, as competitors in the class. Cuadra made his Pro Stock debut at the Four-Wide race in Charlotte where he joined his family in a four-wide “Cuadra-Quad.”

Latino, hailing from Port Perry, Ontario, drives for the KB Titan Racing juggernaut and is also a co-owner of the team. Latino made his NHRA Pro Stock debut in Norwalk this season and qualified for six NHRA races.

Tucker competes for Pro Stock giant Elite Motorsports. He qualified for all 2023 Pro Stock events this season while advancing to a semifinal and four quarterfinals, picking up round wins over Pro Stock stars Erica Enders, Bo Butner and Troy Coughlin Jr.

Last season, Camrie Caruso was named the 2022 Rookie of the Year. Other recent winners include Pro Stock’s Dallas Glenn in 2021, and Top Fuel drivers Justin Ashley in 2020 and Austin Prock in 2019.

The NHRA Rookie of the Year award recognizes the top rookie competitor who also represents the future of the NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series. The nation’s leading auto racing journalists select the winner through a voting system based on the following criteria: number of events competed in, performance on and off the racetrack, participation in NHRA promotions, and relationships with fans, sponsors, and media.

2023 NHRA CAMPING WORLD DRAG RACING SERIES CHAMPIONS CROWNED AT ANNUAL AWARDS CEREMONY

TEMECULA, Calif. (Nov. 13, 2023) – First-time world champions Doug Kalitta and Gaige Herrera were crowned Monday evening, along with multi-time world champs Matt Hagan and Erica Enders, during the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series awards ceremony at the Pechanga Resort Casino in scenic Southern California Wine Country.

The four superstar competitors were honored for their incredible achievements over the course of the 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season and given their trophies for their championship runs during one of the most thrilling Countdown to the Championship playoffs in NHRA history. The NHRA also handed out a new award for the first time, naming a Crew of the Year in each category.

Kalitta picked up his long-awaited first Top Fuel world championship after powering to the victory in an incredible winner-take-all final round on Sunday at In-N-Out Burger Pomona Dragster. It’s the crowning achievement for the 26-year veteran who had finished second in points six times throughout his standout career. But the fan-favorite Kalitta and his team went on a remarkable run during the Countdown to the Championship, winning three times – the first that gave him his 50th career win in his 11,000-horsepower Mac Tools/Toyota dragster – to clinch his first world title.

Hagan won the Funny Car championship for the fourth time in his career on Sunday, prevailing over a loaded lineup of title contenders in Pomona in his 11,000-horsepower Dodge Direct Connection Charger SRT Hellcat. By earning a fourth title, he joins legendary drivers John Force, Don Prudhomme and Kenny Bernstein as the only drivers to win four or more Funny Car world titles in NHRA history. To get there, Hagan was impressively consistent throughout the year, winning six times and advancing to eight final rounds, handing Tony Stewart Racing its first NHRA world championship.

Enders added another Pro Stock championship to her growing legacy and was recognized on Monday after earning her sixth world title on Sunday in her Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage/Melling Performance Chevrolet Camaro. She clinched the title with a victory in the opening round at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals, which also handed Enders her fourth championship in the past five years. She’s now tied with Warren Johnson for the second-most world titles in Pro Stock history, bouncing back from early-season adversity to take control in the playoffs. Along the way, Enders also became the winningest female in motorsports and now has 48 national event victories in her record-breaking career.

In Pro Stock Motorcycle, Gaige Herrera’s dominant season was recognized on Monday, capping off one of the most amazing years in category history. From start-to-finish, Herrera controlled the season on his Mission Foods/Vance & Hines Suzuki, winning the first three races of the year. He then won the last five races of the year, finishing with 11 victories and 14 No. 1 qualifiers. Both are new single-season records in the category, as Herrera clinched the championship on Friday in Pomona in his first full season of racing in the class.

The new Crew of the Year awarded was given to a team in each professional category and was based on a number of statistical categories, including average qualifying position, average eliminations E.T., speed index, average points per race and oildowns. In Top Fuel, the Capco Contractors racing team of Steve Torrence earned the award, while Hagan’s TSR team was named the top crew in Funny Car.

The RAD Torque Systems team of standout Dallas Glenn earned the award in Pro Stock, while the Vance & Hines team for Herrera took home the honors in Pro Stock Motorcycle.

Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Chase Van Sant was also named NHRA Rookie of the Year after a strong first season. He advanced to the semifinals four times, advancing to the Countdown to the Championship and finishing ninth in points. Top Fuel’s Dan Mercier and Pro Stock’s Jerry Tucker, Eric Latino and David Cuadra were also nominated.

For the seventh straight season and an NHRA-record 28th time, Chevrolet won the NHRA’s Manufacturers Cup. The award is given to the automaker whose current model year vehicles accumulate the most points during the NHRA season. Among those who enjoyed banner seasons for Chevrolet were Hight, Funny Car legend John Force, Enders, Aaron Stanfield, Greg Anderson and Matt Hartford.

Drivers in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series were also recognized as 2023 world champions, including Vince Musolini (Top Dragster), Brandon Miller (Top Sportsman), Trevor Larson (Super Gas), John Labbous Jr. (Super Comp), Kyle Rizzoli (Stock), Wyatt Wagner (Super Stock), Bruno Massel (Comp), Doug Gordon (Top Alcohol Funny Car) and Julie Nataas (Top Alcohol Dragster).

The 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series begins March 7-10 with the 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals at Gainesville Raceway.
