GRANT SEXTON FINISHES SEASON AT TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX – BRENT SEXTON INJURED AT PLACERVILLE

(Lakeside, CA, November 23, 2023) USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year Grant Sexton will close his 2023 season this Friday and Saturday in the 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at the Ventura Raceway. Unfortunately, the 19-year-old’s father Brent saw his season come to a premature end when he was injured in a nasty flip at the Placerville Speedway last Friday night.

Attached to this release is a Doug Allen photo of Grant Sextonand the Sexton Gatlin Racing team logo.

Grant, who lives in Lakeside, California, will be making his second appearance in the popular Thanksgiving weekend event. His first effort in the holiday special came last season. In that endeavor, he finished third in his heat race and fifth in his qualifier on the first night. At the Saturday finale, the well-spoken teen, who finished eighth in USAC/CRA points this year, had to race in one of the 12-lap B mains. The 2021 POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Car Series champion started fifth in the race and moved forward. However, it was a night where survival of the fittest was a big part of the show. Throughout the race, he maintained one of the transfer spots and seemed assured of qualifying for the finale. With a couple of laps left, two cars tangled directly in front of him in turn three. The young driver had nowhere to go and got snared into the incident ending his night.

Brent’s season came to a scary end in his heat race on the first night of the Hangtown 100 at Placerville last Friday. The track had been pounded by rain and it was a “Cowboy Up” surface that would bite numerous drivers throughout the night. Unfortunately, one of those drivers was Brent. He started on the pole in the second heat on the Lightning Sprint Car portion of the doubleheader show. The 50-year-old was the first to turn one, but when he got there, his car bicycled and then went into a series of violent flips. Much to the relief of the crowd on the cold night, he climbed out of the car under his own power.

While he seemed uninjured, something was not right. Forty-eight hours after the crash he decided to visit the E.R. near his home. As it turned out, he broke two ribs and injured his shoulder and legs.

Fortunately, the Placerville crash came three nights after Sexton, the 2022 POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Car Series champion, sewed up second overall in the SWLS standings with a fourth-place finish at the Bakersfield Speedway. That finish also sewed up fourth for him in the six-race Best of the West Series that matched the SWLS vs the California Lightning Sprint Cars. Earlier in the night before his fourth-place finish in the main, Sexton was the ninth-fastest qualifier in the 16-car field with a time of 13.206. He also won the second heat race.

To see rising star Grant Sexton in action at the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Ventura, spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m. each night with racing at 5:00. Advance tickets are available and advised at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/82nd-annual-turkey-night-grand-prix-tickets-629591554287?aff=oddtdtcreator. The track is located on the Ventura County Fairgrounds at 10 W. Harbor Boulevard (93001). The website is http://venturaraceway.com/ and the office phone number is (805) 648-RACE.

For fans who cannot make it, both nights will be streamed live on Flo Racing. For more information or to order please visit https://www.floracing.com/.

If you are looking for a top-of-the-line lightning sprint car with the best of everything, Brent has one car left. If interested, use his contact information in this release.

If you or your company are interested in becoming a partner with Sexton Gatlin Racing in 2023, please call (619) 454-6945 or E-mail mailto:sextonfire@cox.net or mail to.

Mitsubishi Motors to Launch the New Minicab EV Electric Commercial Vehicle in Japan in December

Minicab EV (20.0 kWh four-seater)

TOKYO, Nov 24, 2023 – (JCN Newswire) – Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (hereafter, Mitsubishi Motors) announced that the new Minicab EV, a kei-car(1) class electric commercial vehicle with a monobox design, will go on sale at sales affiliates nationwide in Japan on December 21. The Minicab EV two-seater is priced at 2,431,000 yen, and the four-seater is priced at 2,486,000 yen (10 percent consumption tax included).

The new Minicab EV is based on the Minicab-MiEV, which has sold approximately 13,000 units(2) over the past 12 years. By leveraging the expertise gained through the development and maintenance of the Minicab-MiEV, the new Minicab EV offers an improved cruising range as well as enhanced safety and convenience features to answer the needs of commercial customers.

In response to the accelerating efforts for decarbonization aimed at achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and the growing demand for kei-car class electric commercial vehicles from the logistics industry and government agencies, Mitsubishi Motors will contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions in the last mile of commercial use with the new Minicab EV.

Product overview

The Minicab EV is a kei-car class electric commercial vehicle with a monobox design and is equipped with a new generation of electric components including the motor and drive battery. The cruising range has been extended to 180 km (in WLTC mode(3)) per charge, which is an increase of approximately 35 percent compared to the previous model. A normal charging at AC200V (15A) takes approximately 7.5 hours to fully charge the battery, so if the battery is charged after work, it will be fully charged and ready to use when work begins the next day. In addition, up to 80 percent of the battery can be charged in approximately 42 minutes(4) with quick charging(5).

The new electric motor produces a maximum torque of 195 Nm instantly, so even when the vehicle is heavily loaded with cargo, it retains the smooth and powerful driving performance unique to an electric vehicle, delivering a crisp, stress-free driving. Moreover, the new motor and inverter have been integrated into a single unit for enhanced quietness, allowing users to drive early in the morning or late at night with no fear of disturbing others. The price has been kept at the same level as the previous model, while improving the cruising range and enhancing the safety features.

A new generation of Mitsubishi Motors’ unique EV system

Compared to the previous model, the capacity of the drive battery has been increased by 25 percent. The motor and inverter have been integrated into a single unit to improve motor efficiency, resulting in a cruising range of 180 km (in WLTC mode) per charge, which is a 35 percent increase over the previous model.

Safety features

Active safety technologies such as the Forward Collision Mitigation system (FCM), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Automatic High Beam (AHB), and Ultrasonic misacceleration Mitigation System (UMS) when driving forward have been adopted to improve safety performance. With the enhanced safety features, the new Minicab EV qualifies for the Safety Support Car S Wide promoted by the Japanese government.

Hill Start Assist (HSA), which prevents the vehicle from rolling backwards when starting on a steep hill, has been added for safe and worry-free starting.

Convenience features

A power outlet(6) (AC100V, maximum 1500W) is provided at the rear of the floor console to allow electricity to be drawn from the vehicle at any time. This allows for the use of electronics and appliances with high power consumption even during disasters or other emergencies.

At the instrument panel, Type C and Type A USB charging outlets(7) are available as factory options, and a smartphone tray has been added for user convenience.

Road performance

The damping performance of the front and rear shock absorbers has been improved to enhance passenger comfort and decrease cabin sway, thereby reducing the stress placed on the cargo.

Actual power consumption is improved by increasing the regenerative power when in the B position, which makes active use of the regenerative brake.

Broadcaster Jennie Gow makes a welcome return to the commentary box for Extreme E Season 3 finale

24 November 2023, London: Extreme E is delighted to welcome back broadcaster Jennie Gow to its commentary team for the Season 3 finale next week (2-3 December).

Jennie, who suffered a devastating stroke back in December 2022, will now return to join the all-star commentary crew of Andrew Coley and Jess Rodgers for the forthcoming season finale, the Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix in Chile.

Jennie has been a well-known face and voice on the motorsport stage for almost two decades. After spearheading BBC Sport’s coverage of MotoGP, she then switched from two wheels to four when she joined BBC Radio 5 live as the station’s Formula One pit-lane reporter and presenter, a role she has also recently returned to. She has also presented Extreme E’s sister series, Formula E, for both BBC and ITV.

After her stroke almost a year ago, which severely affected her speech and the right side of her body, Jennie has spent most of this year learning to write and talk again. During her intense recovery and rehabilitation, she has also been on a mission to share her experience and ‘shine a light on stroke survivors’ in the hope of helping those affected by stroke.

On returning to Extreme E for the 2023 season finale in Chile, Jennie said: “I am beyond happy to be returning to Extreme E. This will be the first time I’m returning to the commentary box for any motorsport race, and I’m really looking forward to getting back behind the microphone.

“My recovery this year has been an incredible journey, filled with ups and downs, but the unwavering support from the motorsport community and my loved ones has given me a lot of strength throughout this time. I’m thrilled to return to what I’m most passionate about and continue to be a part of Extreme E and the whole motorsport family.”

Ali Russell, Extreme E Managing Director, said: “Jennie’s return to our commentary team is a significant moment for Extreme E. She is an absolute professional and her expertise is massively respected within our sport.

“We are thrilled to welcome her back the gallery as she joins Andrew Coley and Jess Rodgers for the Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix in Chile. Her journey of recovery is an inspiration – we wish her well and we couldn’t be happier to have her back with us.”

Matt Beal, Director of Broadcast – Executive producer – Extreme E, Aurora Worldwide, said: “We’re so pleased to have Jennie return to the commentary box in time for the Extreme E season finale in Chile. Her recovery has been remarkable and we have been keen to give Jennie has much time as she needed before she felt ready to return. She’ll be joined by her great co-commentary team-mates Andrew Coley and Jess Rodgers, who will make sure she is totally supported as she returns to the microphone from the first session on Friday. It’s great to welcome Jennie back to the gallery.”

The 46-year-old joined Extreme E’s commentary team back in 2021, alongside Andrew Coley, to tell the story of Extreme E’s inaugural campaign.

Based at Aurora Media’s London studio, Jennie said at the time of her appointment: “Diversity and inclusion are so important in the future growth of motorsport. This is a powerful moment in time where men and women will be represented in every (Extreme E) team. It seems only right, therefore, that there is a mixed team in the commentary box, too.”

INLAND RIGGING DRIVERS ROA AND DUNKEL FINISH 2023 SEASON AT THE TURKEY NIGHT GRAND PRIX AT VENTURA

Doug Allen Photo

(Cypress, CA, November 23, 2023) Inland Rigging drivers Brody Roa and Tommy Dunkel will wrap up their 2023 seasons this Saturday night at the historic 82nd running of the Turkey Night Grand Prix at Jim Naylor’s Ventura Raceway. The two drivers will run their preliminary events on Friday night in the USAC West Coast Series. They will come back on Saturday evening for their main events. Joining the sprint cars on the two-night racing program will be the USAC National Midgets.

Last year before a near-capacity crowd at the Turkey Night Grand Prix, Dunkel and Roa were both in competition. However, they were not teammates on the night. Dunkel was driving his own car and Roa was driving for Central California car owner Jayson May.

A year ago this weekend, Dunkel impressed the fans with an exciting display passing more experienced drivers. Starting 11th in the B main, he had to get to sixth. He did just that and earned his ticket into the finale of the sprint car portion of the TNGP.

Starting on the back row in 23rd for the A main, Dunkel had to test his reflexes on several occasions in the main event in a race that sometimes looked like a free-for-all. Within the first three laps, he had moved up six spots to 17th. On the 19th lap, he was up to 15th and still moving forward. His drive included deftly avoiding a flipping car as he advanced through the field. With nine laps to go he raced into 14th. He stayed there until the last circuit when he took one more car and finished 13th. All told he passed a total of 15 cars on the night. Only two other drivers passed more.

This season, Dunkel competed at Ventura more than any other racetrack. Coming into this weekend, the friendly driver has been at the racing facility six times. He finished in the top 10 four of the six. Highlighting his journeys to the track located adjacent to the beach on the Ventura County Fairgrounds was a main event victory on April 8th. He also notched second-place finishes on July 8th and September 2nd.

For 2023 USAC/CRA Sprint Car Series champion Roa, it will be his first appearance at Ventura since the 81st edition of the prestigious race one year ago. On the opening night, the Garden Grove, California racer placed second in his heat and won his qualifier. He was running fourth in the dash and looked like a shoo-in for a top-four start before getting caught up in someone else’s mess. Fortunately, his car was able to restart and he came from the back to finish sixth.

Starting on the outside of row three in the Saturday night Finale, Roa quickly moved into fifth and was challenging for the fourth place position. However, his car was noticeably slowing. Even though his steed continued to decelerate, Roa was still in seventh late in the going. Unfortunately, an overzealous driver clobbered him from behind and knocked him out of the race with two laps remaining. Officially, he finished 17th.

Earlier in 2022, Roa contested a USAC/CRA race at Ventura. On a one-lane, at the bottom track, Roa finished with a frustrating runner-up finish. While he was clearly faster than the leader, he did not want to risk getting freight-trained if he tried to drive around the outside Unlike some drivers, he raced clean and did not knock the leader out of the way. Instead, he clung to the leader’s push bar and crossed the line in second.

Spectator gates will open at 3:00 p.m. each night with racing at 5:00.

Dunkel and Roa want to thank the following sponsors for making the 2023 season possible. Inland Rigging, Dunkel Farms, United Asset Sales, Osborne Speed & Machine, “Biker” Bruce Fischer, ALR Virtual Services, Burris Racing, Caltrol, Jambo Barbeque Pits, Competition Suspension, K-1 Race Gear, Molecule, Rod End Supply, Driven Racing Oil, Baldwin Filters, and NGK Spark Plugs. If you would like to be a marketing partner with the Inland Rigging Racing Team in 2024, please contact Dunkel or Roa the information at the top of this release.

QEV Tech’s recent expansion has been extremely successful in recent years with the development of solutions for urban mobility through ZEROID the new mobility brand of QEV Tech, which will help change the face of urban transportation in the coming years.

In this exciting partnership with Formula G, QEV Tech will put all its development expertise into play, by leading all the technological project and undertake the development of the powertrain and battery, unquestionably standing as the ideal technological partner.

“Motorsport is our passion,” said CEO Joan Orus. “It provides the ‘halo effect’ for everything we are creating in the factory and gives the company an exciting, vibrant environment for all our technicians.

“I was involved in Formula E from the outset and I have been saying to Alejandro Agag and others within Formula E and Extreme E that we need a junior category for drivers entering the electric journey. I am delighted that we are involved in Formula G and that it creates two categories for drivers to specialise in this field.

“Formula One has Formula Two and Formula Three which is the proving ground for drivers graduating into the top echelon. To be successful in Formula One you need to be quick and have the fastest car. In electric motorsport you need to have a number of more complex skills as well; you need to be able to understand how to conserve energy and use the power intelligently. These are skills which can be learned in the Formula G series.”

“Similarly, the collaboration will give us an opportunity to provide opportunities for young engineers and mechanics in the early stages of their career to learn the skills around electric motorsport.”

Formula G and QEV Tech have an equal passion for the future of mobility and for the education and nurturing of drivers and technicians within this field. The targets are shared over the two organisations and the ambition is to create an academy to train drivers and engineers and technicians in the electric motorsport field.

“Of course, we are delighted to be working with QEV Tech,” said Dilbagh Gill, Founder and Chief Executive Officer – Formula G.

“We share the same aims and goals and we have worked together in Formula E and other projects. QEV Tech is the perfect partner for this championship. I have every confidence in QEV Technologies to deliver two fantastic cars for our two categories.”

Gaming in the Fast Lane: How NASCAR Influences the World of Online Casinos

In the dynamic world of online casinos, where fortunes can be won or lost with the click of a mouse, there’s a surprising influence coming from an unexpected source – NASCAR. The high-speed, adrenaline-fueled world of stock car racing has found its way into the virtual realm of online casinos, shaping the gaming experience for enthusiasts around the globe. In this article, we’ll explore the unexpected intersection of NASCAR and online casinos, delving into how the two seemingly disparate worlds have come together to create a unique and thrilling gaming experience.

The Need for Speed: A Shared Adrenaline Rush

When it comes to the world of speed and excitement, few things compare to the thrill of a NASCAR race. The roaring engines, the smell of burning rubber, and the high stakes of competition create an atmosphere of pure adrenaline. Surprisingly, this same spirit of competition and speed has found a home in online bola tangkas casinos.

Virtual Racing Games

One of the most direct influences of NASCAR on online casinos is the rise of virtual racing games. Online casinos now offer a variety of racing-themed games that allow players to experience the rush of the track from the comfort of their homes using Najlepszy portal sportowy. These games and sports portals often feature realistic graphics, authentic engine sounds, and a sense of speed that mirrors the intensity of a NASCAR race.

Popular Titles

  • NASCAR Heat Series: Inspired by the real NASCAR races, this series provides players with the opportunity to step into the shoes of their favorite drivers and compete in high-stakes races.
  • iRacing: Known for its realistic simulation, iRacing brings the thrill of NASCAR to the virtual world, allowing players to race against each other in real-time.

High-Stakes Betting: From the Track to the Table

NASCAR’s influence on online casinos extends beyond virtual racing games. The high-stakes nature of stock car racing has inspired a new wave of casino games that appeal to those seeking a similar level of excitement.

NASCAR-Themed Slot Machines

Slot machines have long been a staple in the world of casinos, and NASCAR has found its way onto the spinning reels. NASCAR-themed slot machines offer players the chance to combine their love for racing with the thrill of hitting the jackpot.

Key Features

  • Racing Symbols: Reels adorned with race cars, checkered flags, and pit crew icons immerse players in the NASCAR experience.
  • Bonus Rounds: Some slots feature bonus rounds that simulate pit stops or races, adding an extra layer of excitement.

Live Betting on Races

For those who enjoy the real-time action of NASCAR, live betting on races has become a popular option at online casinos. Players can place bets on various aspects of a race, such as the winner, leading laps, or even specific events during the race.

Betting Options

  • Race Winner: Predicting the driver who will take the checkered flag.
  • Fastest Lap: Betting on which driver will record the fastest lap time during the race.
  • Head-to-Head Matchups: Wagering on the outcome of a direct competition between two drivers.

Sponsorship and Cross-Promotion: A Winning Combination

NASCAR’s reach goes beyond the tracks and into the world of sponsorship and cross-promotion with online casinos. The synergy between the two industries has led to exciting collaborations that benefit both NASCAR and online gaming platforms.

Online Casinos as Race Sponsors

In a bid to attract a broader audience, online casinos have stepped into the world of NASCAR sponsorship. The logos of popular online casinos now adorn the hoods of race cars, gaining visibility among the millions of fans who tune in to watch the races.

Benefits for Online Casinos

  • Brand Exposure: NASCAR sponsorship provides online casinos with extensive brand exposure during races, enhancing their visibility.
  • Target Audience: The NASCAR fanbase aligns with the demographic that online casinos often target, creating a mutually beneficial partnership.

Exclusive Promotions and Bonuses

To capitalize on the NASCAR fanbase, online casinos frequently offer exclusive promotions and bonuses tied to racing events. These promotions can range from free spins on NASCAR-themed slot machines to special odds on race-related bets.

Examples of Promotions

  • Free Race Day Spins: Online casinos may offer free spins on designated NASCAR race days to engage players.
  • Double Winnings for Race Predictions: Special promotions that double the winnings for successful bets on specific race outcomes.

Conclusion

In the world of online casinos, the influence of NASCAR is unmistakable. From virtual racing games that capture the speed and excitement of the track to NASCAR-themed slot machines that add a touch of racing flair to traditional casino games, the intersection of these two worlds is creating a gaming experience like never before. As online casinos continue to embrace NASCAR through sponsorships, promotions, and innovative technologies, the future looks bright for those who crave the adrenaline rush of the fast lane, whether on the track or at the gaming table.

Tamara Molinaro joins JBXE for Extreme E Season 3 finale

22 November 2023, London: Former Extreme E podium finisher Tamara Molinaro has joined Jenson Button’s JBXE outfit for the Antofagasta Minerals Copper X Prix in Chile.

Italian Molinaro will team up with fellow former Championship Driver Andreas Bakkerud for the final X Prix of Season 3, replacing Hedda Hosås who will debut for the NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team in the Atacama Desert.

Molinaro has plenty of experience behind the wheel of the ODYSSEY 21, and was the series’ Championship Driver in 2021 as well as the previous four events of this 2023 campaign.

In Season 2, Molinaro made her racing debut for XITE Energy Racing where she scored a best finish of second at her home event, the NEOM Island X Prix, alongside Timo Scheider. Molinaro and XITE Energy Racing finished eighth in the overall standings last term.

The 26-year-old also made a one-off Extreme E appearance in 2023 for NEOM McLaren Extreme E Team at Island X Prix II, where she stood in for the injured Emma Gilmour.

Molinaro will relish getting back behind the wheel for her new outfit, who are currently ninth in the standings – recording their joint-best result of the season last time out in Sardinia by finishing in fifth.

It is a full circle moment for Molinaro and Bakkerud, who started the 2023 campaign as Championship Drivers at the season opening Desert X Prix in NEOM, Saudi Arabia, and have both now progressed to race seats in the same year.

On returning to the Extreme E grid, Molinaro said: “I am delighted to join JBXE for the final race of the season in Chile. Being a part of this series as a Championship Driver is always special, but a race seat is something I have wanted for a while and to return alongside Andreas [Bakkerud] is a really exciting prospect.

“It is great to be a part of Jenson’s team as well, and I can’t wait to get back out there in the Atacama Desert and go racing again. This is the fifth different Extreme E team I have worked with since the championship launched – it is not always easy to adapt quickly to get back into a good rhythm, however I am hopeful that alongside Andreas I will be able to do just that when we go racing once again.

“I have waited patiently for this opportunity and I am really keen to grasp it and score as many points as I can in the final two races of the 2023 season.”

Jenson Button, JBXE team owner, said: “Tamara is very experienced behind the wheel of the ODYSSEY 21 and has worked together with Andreas previously, so we feel that is a strong pairing going into the last races of the year in Chile.

“We are eager to move up the championship standings and with Tamara joining the team alongside Andreas we feel that is a pairing capable of doing just that.”

The crowning of the 2023 champions will be live across ITV and STV in the UK, while outside of the UK please visit here for broadcaster details.

JEFF DYER SEWS UP POWRi SOUTHWEST LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR SERIES CHAMPIONSHIP AT BAKERSFIELD

(Lakeside, CA, November 20, 2023) California Highway Patrol Officer Jeff Dyer sewed up the first title in his open-wheel career when he placed third in the POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Car Series/California Lightning Sprint Cars main event last week in the 7th Annual West Coast Lightning Sprint Car Championship at the Bakersfield Speedway. The new champ trailed legendary Bobby Michnowicz and rising star Aiden Lange in the 25-lapper. That win assured Michnowicz the title in the six-race Best of the West mini-series that pits the SWLS vs the CLS.

After winning the six-car dash, Dyer started on the pole on “The West’s Fastest 1/3-Mile High Banked Clay Oval.” Michnowicz was alongside. That is, he was alongside until they crossed under starter Jimmy “The Shoe” Irwin’s green flag at the start of the 25-lap race. Michnowicz, who was only hours away from his 60th birthday, took off like a scalded cat. By lap five he had a commanding 2.5-second lead over Dyer.

Bad luck struck the top five two times before the race reached the halfway point. Bakersfield 15-year-old Brodey Graham pulled off on lap eight while in third. Three laps later, Levi Klatt, who came all the way down from Langley, British Columbia, Canada for the race, dropped out while running fourth.

Out front, Oak Hills resident Michnowicz maintained his impressive advantage. However, with 10 laps to go it was apparent that Lakeside’s Lange was inching closer. With five laps to go, he was not inching anymore. Instead, he was closing in like a runaway freight train. It still seemed like Michnowicz had the field covered and he had a three-car length lead at the white flag. He also had a lapped car ahead of him. Lange swung wide coming off the second corner and relieved the race-long leader of the top spot. Going into turn three, he dropped to the bottom ahead of Michnowicz but behind the lapped car.

It looked as though the race was going to go to Lange. However, coming off of four the lapped car slid off the bottom lane. Lange did the same. When he did, wily veteran Michnowicz dove into the gap, and the two cars were inches apart when they crossed under the checkers. It took a few seconds for officials to check the computer and determine that Michnowicz had bagged the win.

“I don’t know who won, I didn’t know,” Michnowicz told the crowd when he was interviewed by USAC’s Drake York after the race. “I thought I got him, but then I looked at the board and it said #13. I thought I lost (at that point), but I guess I won.”

“I knew I was slow,” the happy winner continued. “I couldn’t even get by the lapped cars. It is tough to go out because you have to guess (while waiting for the USAC B main to conclude). You cannot work on your car as you have to sit there in the hot chute. We just guessed. I left it stuck out on the right rear and everything. I knew I was not good, but we won and I guess that is what counts.”

Behind Michnowicz, Lange, and Dyer, 2022 SWLS champion Brent Sexton of Lakeside and BCRA star Greg Dennett of Livermore rounded out the top five. Bakersfield local Leland Day captured the PJ Benedetti Hard Charger award going from 13th on the start to finish sixth.

Before the main, Michnowicz’s lap of 12.580 was the quickest in Iron Alliance Engineering Qualifying at the “Okie Bowl.” Klatt was second fastest at 12.609. The third-best time in qualifying came from Graham at 12.812.

Sexton bagged the win in the AG Sandcars/Triple X Racing heat #1. The 50-year-old was chased to the checkered by “Rockstar” Jon Robertson of Torrance and Michnowicz. In the T Shirts By Timeless second heat, 16-year-old Seth Dyer of Yucca Valley beat Lange to the checkers. Dyer’s father, Jeff, finished third.

In addition to winning the title, Yucca Valley’s Dyer also led the SWLS with four victories in 2023. Michnowicz and Sexton had three victories each. No other driver posted more than one triumph in the series in 2023. Drivers with single wins were Seth Dyer, AJ Bender, Braden Chiaramonte, Cody Griggs, Parker Dumas, Darren Brown, and Peter Benker.

The Dyer family is taking two awards away from the 2023 SWLS season. As well as Jeff winning the championship, his son Seth placed third in the standings and is the Rookie of the Year. The highlight of the teen’s season came when he smoked the field for his first win at the Imperial Valley Raceway on October 21st.

The POWRi Southwest Lightning Sprint Car Series would like to thank Sexton Fire Protection, RTL Traffic Control & Equipment, Victory Graphix, BK Wing, and A.M. Ortega Construction Inc. If you or your company would like to become part of the series in 2023, please contact Brent Sexton at (619) 454-6945 or mailto:sextonfire@cox.net

PRO STOCK’S ERICA ENDERS OVERCOMES SLOW START TO CONTINUE DOMINANT RUN, EARN SIXTH TITLE

INDIANAPOLIS (Nov. 21, 2023) – Over the course of winning her six championships in Pro Stock, Erica Enders has known that each of them has a decidedly different feel. From her first title to dominant runs in both 2015 and 2022, each one has had its own unique story.

That was especially true during Enders’ 2023 NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series season, which was a far cry from last year’s incredible run. This season was steeped in adversity and plenty of perseverance, as a slow start had the veteran 14th in points after six races.

But what started with trying times ended once again in pure joy, as Enders and her Elite Motorsports team turned things around at the perfect time. She took over the points lead at the halfway mark of the Countdown to the Championship, became the winningest female in all of motorsports and finished off a brilliant closing stretch in her Johnson’s Horsepowered Garage/Melling Performance Chevrolet Camaro with her sixth Pro Stock world championship, tying her with Warren Johnson for second all-time in class history.

“I think the word that describes this season is tenacity,” said Enders, who also won her fourth title in the past five years. “Every championship has its story and this season is just another reminder that you don’t give up. You doubt yourself and it’s just digging yourself out of that ditch, and coming back and knowing you can get it done and execute. That’s what this season is about – tenacity and not giving up. These moments make all of that hard work worth it. I get to live my dream and I’m grateful.”

A year after winning 10 races, advancing to 13 finals and clinching the title in Las Vegas in dominant fashion, nothing came easy to open the 2023 campaign. Enders lost in the opening round four times in the first six races, with a holeshot loss to Aaron Stanfield in Chicago dropping her to 14th in points.

Enders reflected about the slow start in Bristol, but also felt confident a turnaround was coming. The team turned the corner in Chicago and she rolled to an impressive win in Thunder Valley, qualifying No. 1 and picking up her first victory of the season. She jumped five places in the standings in one weekend and climbed the rest of the season, moving up at least one place in the points at six of the next eight races, taking over the points lead in St. Louis. It was never easy, but Enders and her team never stopped working.

“Our season started really poorly and it took until Chicago to figure our problem out,” Enders said. “We just kept plugging away at it. We knew we didn’t have a horsepower problem and we rallied and figured it out. It’s all about teamwork. That’s where our season turned, but it was still a dogfight, obviously. I’m really thankful for the position we were in and I talk about it all the time, but when our backs are against the wall, my guys perform and execute, and it makes me so proud to be their driver. It was a crazy year and we took the long way here, but we ended up on top.”

Following the win in Bristol, Enders qualified No. 1 in Denver and then won in Topeka, advancing to the semifinals in Indianapolis to open the playoffs in third.

She qualified No. 1 at the first three races in the Countdown to the Championship, advancing to three straight semifinals. After taking the lead in St. Louis, she all but slammed the door shut with clutch performances in Dallas and Las Vegas, earning her NHRA-record 10th victory at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The race prior in Dallas, Enders won her 47th career national event, sending her to the all-time lead for wins by a female. It was a thrilling moment for Enders, whose late-season run only strengthened her remarkable Pro Stock legacy. A first-round win at the In-N-Out Burger NHRA Finals clinched a sixth world championship, breaking a tie with Greg Anderson and Jeg Coughlin Jr. It may have not been the spectacular wire-to-wire run to the title from a year ago, but this one was just as important, especially considering the road Enders and her team traveled to reach the ultimate prize.

“I questioned myself, too. It’s easy to get down on yourself and doubt yourself,” Enders said. “It’s easy to be positive when you’re winning. It’s when you’re going through all the troublesome times when you have to fight with all you’ve got. It’s definitely a gut check and something that’s not easy to go through. Going through those moments, we still had our core people and nobody pointed fingers. We just went to work and it just shows you what happens when you don’t give up. We do still have it, it turns out.”

The 2024 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series begins March 7-10 with the 55th annual NHRA Gatornationals at historic Gainesville Raceway. For more information about NHRA, including the 2024 schedule, please visit www.NHRA.com.
