COMPETITION NOTES

Gilliland has one previous NASCAR Cup Series start at the track. Last year in his rookie season with Front Row Motorsports (FRM) the team finished 25th. They are looking to better the result with first-year crew chief Ryan Bergenty.

Gilliland has four starts at Pocono in the NASCAR CRAFTMSAN Truck Series and has one pole, three top-10 and one top-five finish.

CREW CHIEF RYAN BERGENTY

“Looking at Todd’s stats in the truck series, it’s obvious he knows how to get around this track. The Cup level is a whole new game, but we are going to give Todd what he needs. We’re in that summer grind right now and the remainder of July and all of August will be big races for us. We want to maximize our finishes and gain as many points as possible.”

DRIVER TODD GILLILAND

“I’ve always enjoyed Pocono. The track is so different than anything else we go to and I just really like the challenge. I’ve had good runs in the trucks, but last year was a learning experience for us. I think we’re going to be much better this weekend.

“It’s cool to have Speedy Cash back with us this weekend and see them running this contest. It’s a lot more fun when partners are running promotions and contests. So, I hope fans are trying to win all my stuff!”

2023 NASCAR Truck Series Stats
Starts: 14; Best start: 9th; Best finish: 11th (Gateway); Laps led: 5; Current points position: 16th

Chassis History
Dye and the No. 43 team will compete with GMS Racing chassis no. 330 in the Pocono mountains. Chassis no. 330 has been driven twice before at Pocono, first by Zane Smith in 2021 where it finished 14th, then last season by Jack Wood where it finished 33rd after getting involved in a crash. Daniel has raced with this chassis three times this season, and earned his best finish of 11th at WWT Raceway with it last month. Smith took it to victory lane at Dover Motor Speedway in 2020.

Rookie of the Year
Rebounding from an off-track excursion earlier in the race, Daniel Dye was able to claw his way through the field en route to a top-15 finish. A 14th place result for Dye at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course was the second best result of all NCTS rookies in the field. Daniel surpassed his teammate, Rajah Caruth, and is now third in rookie points (139 back from Sanchez and 61 behind Garcia) heading into Pocono.

Daniel Dye Quote

“I’m really looking forward to heading to Pocono this weekend; it’s close to the Champion Container home base and we will have a bunch of their employees that’ll be joining us at the track. Pocono is a place that I’ve raced at before and I enjoy racing at quite a bit, so I’m looking forward to seeing what Blake and the rest of our No. 43 team can bring to the racetrack. We’ll fight hard all day and make good changes and hopefully put on a good show for our partners and give them a run they can be proud of.”

No. 1 Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions Chevrolet

  • Sam Mayer returns to Long Pond, Pa. for his third career start at Pocono Raceway, the site of his first start in the NASCAR Xfinity series in 2021.
  • In 15 starts on tracks measuring over 2 miles in length in the NXS, the young driver has notched two top-five and four top-10 finishes.
  • The Franklin, Wis. native was on the rise to a solid top-five finish last week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway until a multi-car incident in the closing laps relegated him to an 18th-place effort.
  • The 20-year-old Mayer currently sits ninth in the championship standings, 63 points above the playoff cutline.

Josh Berry
No. 8 Tire Pros Chevrolet

  • Josh Berry has two starts at Pocono, with the best finish of third coming in last year’s event on the 2.5-mile triangle. In those starts, his average finish is a solid 6.0 and he’s led nine laps.
  • At tracks 2 miles or greater in NXS competition, Berry has amassed 16 starts, with five top-five and nine top-10 finishes.
  • Tire Pros rejoins the No. 8 team this weekend, marking the eighth time he has run those colors this season.

Driver Quotes

“Pocono is a fun track and I am looking forward to getting more laps there to really improve from my first two starts. I am confident that we can turn our luck around this weekend and hopefully get this No. 1 Accelerate Professional Talent Solutions Chevrolet up front to contend for the win.“ – Sam Mayer

“We’ve been really strong at Pocono over the last couple of years. It’s always been a track that I enjoy coming to. It’s definitely unique, with each corner having its own distinct challenges. I know that Jim (Pohlman, crew chief) and everyone on this Reese’s Ice Cream team are ready to get there and see what we can do. If we unload the same way we have been here lately, I see no reason why we won’t find ourselves in a position to fight for the win on Saturday.” – Justin Allgaier

“Pocono lives up to its name as the Tricky Triangle, because of the three very different corners. We had a good run here last year with a third-place finish but we need to start making ground in the points, and a win this weekend for Tire Pros and our No. 8 team is exactly the way to make that happen.” – Josh Berry

“We had a really good car last week in New Hampshire and we were able to close in on the playoff cutline. JRM dominated this race last season and this No. 9 team has been hard at work to bring the same speed this weekend. Pocono is a tough track but I know this team will do everything possible to make sure we are battling towards the front again this week.” – Brandon Jones

JRM Team Updates

  • JR Motorsports at Pocono: JR Motorsports has competed at the “Tricky Triangle” 27 times in the NXS, recording one win, eight top fives and 17 top 10s. JRM comes into this race as the defending race winner after its No. 9 team took home the checkered last season.
  • Benefitting the Gary Sinise Foundation: During the Summer for Heroes Giving Campaign, a company-wide initiative that supports American troops, veterans, first responders and their families through unique programs designed to make a difference in the lives of everyday heroes across the country, Tire Pros customers can donate an amount of their choice on the designated Gary Sinise Foundation donation page. Donate now!
  • Souvenir Rig Signing: JRM drivers Justin Allgaier, Josh Berry, Brandon Jones and Sam Mayer will be signing autographs at the JR Motorsports/Legacy MC souvenir rig on Saturday, July 22 from 3:25 p.m. – 3:50 p.m.

Toyota Racing – Weekly Preview – 07.19.23

This Week in Motorsports: July 17-23, 2023

· NCS/NXS/NCTS/ARCA: Pocono Raceway – July 21-23
· NHRA: Pacific Raceways – July 23

PLANO, Texas (July 19, 2023) – Toyota is milestone focused this weekend with the opportunity to hit landmark victories in both NASCAR and NHRA competition.

NASCAR National Series – NCS | NXS | NCTS

600 in our sights… After scoring two victories at New Hampshire Motor Speedway over the weekend, Toyota sits at 599 NASCAR national series victories heading into Pocono Raceway. In its NASCAR tenure, Toyota has won 176 NASCAR Cup Series races, 196 NASCAR Xfinity Series events and 227 NASCAR Truck Series races.

Truex looks to extend points lead… Martin Truex Jr. is coming off a perfect weekend in New Hampshire as Truex won both stages and the race to earn seven Playoff points. With the result, Truex retook the NCS points lead by 17 with six races remaining in the regular season. Truex looks to expand the lead this weekend. The New Jersey-native has earned two victories at Pocono Raceway – picking up wins in 2015 and 2018.

Pocono strong for Hamlin… Denny Hamlin heads to Pocono Raceway off a strong top-10 run in New Hampshire. Pocono has been one of Hamlin’s best tracks over the years. Hamlin has six victories – two wins in 2016 and a single victory in 2009, 2010, 2019 and 2020.

Nemechek plans to continue winning streak… John Hunter Nemechek expanded his NXS points lead with his second consecutive victory on Saturday in New Hampshire. It is Nemechek’s first time winning back-to-back races in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and his fourth win of the season. Nemechek finished third in the Truck Series race at Pocono last season and owns a Xfinity Series top-10 finish at the track in 2018.

Smith continues strong performance… Sammy Smith has a string of three consecutive top-10 finishes for the first time in his rookie season in the NASCAR Xfinity Series. The Toyota development driver earned his first stage win of the season and finish fifth in New Hampshire on Saturday. Smith made his second-ever Xfinity start at Pocono last season and started fifth before being taken out in a late-race incident.

SHR drivers running Saturday double… Sam Hunt Racing’s driver duo for Pocono will be running double-duty on Saturday. Kaz Grala is coming off his third straight top-15 finish in the NASCAR Xfinity Series after a strong run at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He will drive his normal No. 26 Toyota GR Supra, but will first compete in the NASCAR Truck Series for TRICON Garage in the No. 1 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. In Grala’s last Truck Series start, he earned a top-10 finish at Circuit of the Americas in March. NASCAR Truck Series points leader Corey Heim will look to follow his Mid-Ohio victory with another strong performance at Pocono as he desires to clinch the regular season Truck Series championship. After he completes the Truck Series race in his No. 11 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, Heim will make his third career Xfinity Series start in the No. 24 Toyota GR Supra. Heim finished in the top-10 in his last start in the GR Supra at Darlington Raceway in May.

Friesen, Gray look for Playoff berths… Stewart Friesen and Tanner Gray continue to battle for the last Playoff berths in the NASCAR Truck Series. With two races remaining in the regular season, Friesen is just one point behind the final playoff spot, while Gray is 24 points out. Friesen’s best finish at Pocono is fourth in 2018, while Gray scored a top-10 finish at the track in 2022.

NHRA – Top Fuel | Funny Car

Holding at 199… Despite a strong performance by Team Toyota with six drivers in the semi-finals at Denver, Toyota continues to hold at 199 race wins heading into Seattle. Antron Brown is the most recent Toyota winner at Pacific Raceways, claiming victory there in Top Fuel in 2018.

Todd continues to have performance surge… J.R. Todd earned his third semi-final finish in the last four races, following a strong run at Norwalk with two round wins in Denver. Todd is looking for his first Seattle victory in Funny Car but has won at the track in Top Fuel in 2015.

Ashley holds championship points lead… Justin Ashley continues to hold on to the Top Fuel championship points lead on the strength of a series-leading four event wins in the first 10 races this season. Ashley is looking for his first Seattle victory. He advanced to the semi-finals last season before being defeated by eventual event winner Tony Schumacher.

NASCAR Regional Series – ARCA

Love continues to lead… Jesse Love continued to expand his lead with another top-five finish at Iowa Speedway. Love has seven top-five finishes in nine starts this season, and his championship lead is nearly 50 points heading into Pocono. Love made his track debut at Pocono last season. The California-native started third, led eight laps and finished 13th.

d’Orlando Continues Victory Streak with Third Win on Streets of Toronto

Brooks earns fourth place, top ten for Browne, experience gained for St-Jean

Michael d’Orlando celebrates third career victory in USF Pro 2000 in Toronto
Toronto, Ontario (July 18, 2023) – Michael d’Orlando continued his victory streak in the USF Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires, taking his third win in three straight weekends in Race 1 on the streets of Toronto. The 21-year-old, who is half Canadian, qualified on the front row for the first of two races after a shortened qualifying session due to prolonged red flags. In the race, d’Orlando pushed hard to snag the top spot away from Myles Rowe for over half of the 25-lap event before a red flag came out for rainy weather with less than 10 laps to go.

Once the race resumed under wet conditions, d’Orlando continued to push for the lead until a mistake made by Rowe allowed him to slide his #1 USF Pro Championships/Priority Payments Systems car into first position and claim the win.

After starting third for Race 2, d’Orlando didn’t take long to move up into the second position where he ran for the majority of the race, pressuring leader Myles Rowe for the lead with every lap; unfortunately, bad luck reared its head once again for the New York native as a fuel pump failure caused his car to lose power, taking away a sure podium finish and resulting in P14.

Despite the setback in Race 2, d’Orlando still earned enough points this weekend to improve to fourth in the championship standings, a mere 12 points off of second place.

“I’m really proud of the pace that Turn 3 Motorsport and I showed this weekend,” said d’Orlando. “Race 1 was an incredible result for me. Winning in front of my family in Toronto was a feeling like no other. I’m ecstatic to have my first win in Toronto. Although Race 2 didn’t come our way with a mechanical issue, we had the opportunity to win. I’m just glad to show that we were the driver to beat this weekend; whether or not things fell our way is a different story. I can’t wait to head out to COTA for our next event.”

Jonathan Browne in his #2 JB Racing car in Toronto
Jonathan Browne qualified tenth for the first of two races after very limited time on track in both practice and qualifying thanks to multiple red flags stopping the sessions early. In Race 1, Browne had a strong run coming up from tenth, particularly coming alive once rainy conditions set in over the Canadian street course. The Irishman was pushing for seventh before finding the tire barrier at Turn 8 with only a couple laps to go, ending up P15.

In Race 2, Browne got caught behind an opening lap incident which dropped him to the back of the field; however, he was able to continue on the lead lap and fight his #2 JB Racing car back up to a P10 finish to round out the weekend.

“Another difficult weekend was had in Toronto,” said Browne. “Many red flags in practice and qualifying made it difficult from the start. I found some pace in Race 1 when it started raining, but unfortunately while battling for seventh, I broke fractionally too late, and it sent me into the wall. In Race 2, I had nowhere to go at Turn 1 and had to stop and reverse out of the situation. This put me to the back, but we fought our way back into the top 10. It was not the best weekend for us, but I’m looking forward to going back and resetting for the last two rounds in a month’s time.”

Louka St-Jean in his #3 Planiform / Proservin Construction car in Toronto
Rookie Louka St-Jean faced an uphill battle from the start of the weekend in his home country; the 17-year-old French Canadian didn’t get much track time on the previously unexplored circuit before going into his first qualifying session where he ended up P18 after tagging the wall and coming in for repairs. In Race 1, St-Jean battled hard to gain positions and was up to P14 before getting into the tire barrier midway through the race.

Race 2 didn’t produce much more good fortune for St-Jean as he suffered front wing damage to his #3 Planiform / Proservin Construction car on the opening lap after unavoidably plowing into a pileup in his path, knocking him out of the race and scoring him P18.

“Well, it was a horrible end to the weekend for me unfortunately,” said St-Jean. “I had a lot of bad luck in both of the races and wasn’t able to get the results I was hoping for after a strong run at the last two rounds. Even though I didn’t have the results, I gained more experience in the USF Pro 2000 car, and I know we will be better at the next round in Texas.”

Christian Brooks in his #44 car on the streets of Toronto
Christian Brooks, who rejoined the team in Toronto after being out of a race car since the season opener in March, had a slower start to the weekend as he had limited time to find his rhythm and pace on his first ever visit to the 1.786-mile, 11-turn street circuit. Starting P13 for Race 1, Brooks was eager to prove his capabilities and raced his way up to a well-earned eighth place finish, earning the Tilton Hard Charger Award for gaining the most positions on track.

Qualifying for Race 2 went substantially better than the first session for Brooks with the 22-year-old American clocking in the fifth fastest lap time in his #44 car for Sunday’s race. On Lap 1, Brooks had already moved up to fourth and then third position where he remained for more than half the race. After some hard fought battles in the remaining laps, Brooks ended up just outside the podium in fourth for his return to the USF Pro 2000 series.

44 Christian Brooks // USF Pro 2000

“What an experience the Toronto Grand Prix has been,” said Brooks. “I think we’ve made a statement again contending for the podium in my first race back since St. Petersburg in March. Turn 3 Motorsport did a fantastic job as always, and I’m hoping to be back racing with them again soon!”

After an overall positive weekend, the team came away maintaining second in the Team Championship with 244 points.

“Once again we proved how competitive our team is by taking a win and a fourth in the two races in Toronto,” said Team Owner Peter Dempsey. “I’m extremely disappointed to have had the mechanical issue on Michael’s car in Race 2 though. We’ve had excellent reliability all year, so to not have Michael get the weekend he should have had with his performance is frustrating. It was an absolute pleasure to have Christian back in our program this weekend. Once again, he showed his class and maturity. Toronto is the most difficult track we race on, and to be challenging for a podium in Race 2 with it being his first time there was a great success. Hopefully he can be back with us again in the near future.”

“Jonathan and Louka didn’t have the best weekend on the performance side,” continued Dempsey. “The best thing for them both to do is to focus forward and come back stronger for COTA and Portland. A huge thanks to all our crew as always; their hard work and dedication never goes unnoticed.”

Rounds 14/15 of the USF Pro Championships will take place in Austin, Texas at the Circuit of the Americas road course from August 24-27.

Later that year, Peter and Turn 3 Motorsport achieved a record-breaking win at the NASA 25 Hours of Thunderhill endurance race, piloting the #10 Eastern Racing / Turn 3 Motorsport Radical SR3 RSX 1340 to a dominating win, leading 638 out of 672 laps, and becoming the first car under two liters to achieve the overall win.

In the team’s rookie season, Turn 3 Motorsport attracted attention out of the gate by winning the season opener of the 2020 Indy Pro 2000 Championship Presented by Cooper Tires in a sweeping performance with Singaporean driver Danial Frost. Frost and the team went on to achieve a pole position, six podium finishes, and third overall in the championship in 2020.

In 2022, T3M showed its strength and teamwork by achieving a podium, win, and/or pole at 7 of the 9 events on the Road to Indy calendar with rookie drivers Josh Green, Jonathan Browne, and Christian Weir each earning the aforementioned results across two different series (USF2000 and Indy Pro 2000).

Pocono up Next for Burton, DEX Imaging Team

As Harrison Burton and the No. 21 DEX Imaging team head to Pocono Raceway for Sunday’s HighPoint.com 400, they are hoping history repeats itself.

The Wood Brothers have three Cup wins on the 2.5-mile Tricky Triangle, including their most recent victory, with Ryan Blaney at the wheel of their iconic Ford in 2017. And crew chief Brian Wilson has two Cup wins as an engineer – with Kurt Busch in 2007 and Brad Keselowski in 2011- and another as a crew chief in the Xfinity Series with driver Austin Cindric in 2021. (All of Wilson’s Pocono victories came with cars and drivers from Team Penske, which shares an alliance with the Wood Brothers.)

Burton also has previous success at Pocono having won an ARCA race there in 2018.

Wilson said he’s optimistic headed into this weekend after Burton and the No. 21 team showed some decent speed in Monday’s rain-delayed race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

“Last weekend in Loudon was a step forward for our short-track program,” Wilson said. “The previous races with the low-downforce aero package have been a challenge for us. Our Ford post-race reports showed several stints with average lap times in the top 20 and 15. “We also set a season high on quality passes for this track type.”

Wilson is further heartened by the DEX Imaging team’s performance at Pocono in 2022.

“We look back on last year’s performance when we were able to lead a few laps during the race,” he said. “We’ll continue to build on recent Intermediate-style races where we’ve been able to connect the corner better for Harrison and produce competitive performances.

“I’m confident the DEX Ford will have a great weekend.”

Wilson added that the tire combination will be another factor in the team’s preparation for and strategy during the race.

“Goodyear will bring the same right-side tire as last season’s race, but have a new and more durable left side,” he said. “This combination will also reduce the stagger measurement for the race. Rebalancing this will be a focus, but one we’ve dealt with often this season.”

Wilson said that in addition to the decisions teams must make related to tires, the races at Pocono always bring unique strategy options.

“I expect that this year’s tire and aero will allow for the same,” he said. “I’ve always been excited to see how the race unfolds at Pocono.”

Practice for the HighPoint.com 400 is set for Saturday at 2:35 p.m. Eastern Time and will be followed immediately by qualifying.

Sunday’s 160-lap race is scheduled to get the green flag just after 2:30 p.m. with TV coverage on USA Network.

Stage breaks are planned for Laps 30 and 95.

New Hampshire recap: Noah Gragson qualified in the 29th position for the rain-delayed event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. He teetered back and forth on the lead lap throughout the majority of the event, before a Lap 272 problem on the right front that sent Gragson into the wall in Turn 1. He finished the day in 32nd.

Xfinity success at Pocono: Last season’s outing at the 2.5-mile track in Long Pond turned out as of the most exciting races Gragson ever drove. Gragson’s No. 9 JR Motorsports Chevrolet crossed the finish line by .281-seconds ahead of Ty Gibbs. The last 15 laps of the race, the two were just within .3-seconds of one another.

Meet NG: Fans will have two opportunities to meet Noah this weekend at Pocono. On raceday, he will appear at the Fan Fair stage in the midway for a Q&A at 11:30 am local time. He will then sign autographs at the trackside merchandise trailer at 12 pm local.

Luke at Pocono: Crew chief Luke Lambert has 18 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series of which he has earned three top-10 finishes with four different drivers. In 2021, Lambert won the pole position with driver Chris Buescher. The one start he made in the Xfinity series was the race win with Gragson in 2022.

NASCAR Hall of Fame Fan Vote: LEGACY MOTOR CLUB co-owner Jimmie Johnson was selected as a nominee for the 2024 NASCAR Hall of Fame class. The vote will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 2 when a 61-person panel will meet to select next year’s inductees. The 62nd vote goes to winners of a NASCAR.com Fan Vote (www.nascar.com/halloffame). The fan vote is currently open and will close on July 30 at 12:00 a.m. ET.

Quoting Noah: “I really like racing at Pocono. Last year when we won in Xfinity, it was probably the hardest I’ve ever driven. We put on a heck of a show. It was such a good race at the end, that win meant so much to us. I like going up there and am hoping for a good weekend.”

A well-timed caution allowed the team to pit and restart in 20th position. Jones crossed the finish line in 11th place for the second consecutive week in a row. The team now has four straight top-15 finishes.

The Honorable: In partnership with the United States Air Force, LEGACY MOTOR CLUB will host Honorable Kristyn Jones, performing the duties of the Under Secretary of the Air Force, as a guest for the Highpoint.com 400 at Pocono Raceway. Honorable Jones will have the opportunity to witness the race weekend firsthand, joining Jones for a pace car ride and observing the No. 43 United States Air Force Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 on the track up close on race day.

Pocono Pole: Throughout his career, Jones has established himself as a strong contender for the pole position at Pocono Raceway. He has claimed the starting spot twice at the track, once in the Truck Series and once in the Xfinity Series. Jones boasts a total of twenty-four pole positions throughout his career across the three major touring series, with two of them achieved at the “Tricky Triangle” of Pocono.

Last minute call up: In 2018, Erik Jones received an unexpected call to drive the No. 18 truck to fill in for Noah Gragson. Jones started the race from the rear of the field and raced as if he had nothing to lose, driving his way to a second-place finish.

Dave in New Hampshire: No. 43 crew chief Dave Elenz has a total of six starts at the “Tricky Triangle” in the Xfinity Series. Under his guidance, four different drivers achieved one top five, four top-10s and one pole position. Elenz’s track record at Pocono shows an average starting position of 7.8 and finish of 10.5, with only one result outside the top-15.

Meet Erik: On Sunday, July 23rd at Pocono Raceway, Jones will sign autographs for approximately 100 fans at the United States Air Force activation display in the Fan Zone at 10:20 am local time. He will then appear at the Chevrolet Racing stage at 11:00 am for a Q&A followed by a visit to the LEGACY MOTOR CLUB merchandise trailer at 11:20 am.

Quoting Erik Jones: “Pocono has been a good track, I have been there just as much, if not more, than any other track that I have been to in my career. I have been racing there since 2013 in ARCA cars and then up through the Truck, Xfinity, now Cup series, and I have enjoyed going every time. I feel like it has been a good track for me, and I feel like I got around there pretty well. Last year I felt like we had a good car there with a lot of speed in it, and I am hoping to have the same this year. I always like going up there, I love the track itself and the racing is fun with the way that it plays out with stages, you can mix it up with taking tires and fuel before the stage or not, taking two or four, and seeing how the fuel plays out at the end of the race is always pretty fun. I am hoping we have a good car with some speed to continue our good runs up at Pocono.”

Toyota Mobility Foundation and WRI India Release Study that Offers Key Insights into Metro Usage Patterns Across India

A survey of 7,200 commuters, across Nagpur, Delhi, and Bengaluru, conducted as part of the Station Access and Mobility Program (STAMP) underlines solutions for improving last-mile connectivity to metros.

Toyota City, Japan, July 19, 2023 – (JCN Newswire) – Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF) and WRI India today launched a working paper that offers new insights into the way commuters access and utilize the metro, and its implications on last-mile services. The paper ‘Improving Metro Access in India: Evidence from Three Cities,’ was launched as part of Connect Karo 2023, a flagship knowledge event, organized by WRI India, that showcases research-based, solution-centric initiatives, geared towards sustainable development in India.

The paper presented key findings and recommendations based on extensive research across three metro cities-Nagpur, Delhi and Bengaluru. The study’s findings reveal how poor access to metro stations impacts the use of the metro rail system in India. This shows that despite significant investment channeled into these systems, the lack of efficient last-mile connectivity has limited the metro’s full potential. The working paper, compiled as part of the TMF and WRI India Station Access and Mobility Program (STAMP), emphasizes the urgent need for comprehensive and strategic planning to address this critical issue.

“The paper emphasizes the need for robust data collection and analysis of commuter behavior for each station. This will enable cities to design appropriate services that respond better to the needs of commuters. Understanding last-mile commuter behavior is crucial for increasing ridership, as it has been identified as the biggest hindrance to utilizing the metro,” said Madhav Pai, Chief Executive Officer, WRI India.

One of the key findings of the study is that Indian metro systems primarily attract the demographic of 18- to 35-year-olds, who use the metro to access workplaces and educational institutes. Additionally, the research underscores that metro users prefer walking or low-cost shared modes of transport for last-mile connectivity, with informal paratransit modes, such as shared autos, emerging as a particularly popular option. In all three survey cities, walking and shared modes constitute over 75% of the total last-mile mode-share. This indicates that low-cost, shared services and pedestrian infrastructure play a vital role in facilitating last-mile connectivity for metro users.

The study also reveals the time-sensitive nature of commute in India, especially for women, who are averse to waiting for last-mile modes. Consequently, the working paper emphasizes the importance of high-frequency services when planning shared last-mile connectivity options. The research also indicates that existing fare structures empirically place a disadvantage on women as they tend to travel shorter distances, leading to higher fares. This highlights the need for fare structures that can accommodate gender-inclusive travel patterns. Another important finding is that users are willing to travel up to 20 minutes to access metro stations, including the time spent waiting for last-mile modes. This figure is consistent across cities and income groups, indicating that the “catchment region” of a metro station is determined by access time rather than by a fixed area.

The working paper proposes several recommendations to address the last-mile connectivity problem in the Indian metro rail systems. The findings suggest that a metro station’s effective catchment area can expand by operating faster last-mile modes, reducing wait times, and increasing average speeds, which can improve ridership.

“Not all cities are the same, and not all catchment areas around a metro station are the same. The types of commuters are different. Their travel patterns and mobility needs are different. Understanding this diversity is critical to understand the best way to seamlessly integrate first and last-mile mobility into the metro journey. Appropriately grasping these critical insights, the working paper serves as a call to action for policymakers, urban planners, and stakeholders in the transportation sector to adjust the key parameters that drive the metro journey, including journey information, booking services, hardware and software used for first and last mile, seamless payment methods, etc. By adopting the recommendations outlined in this paper, India can further unlock the full potential of its metro rail systems, by placing the commuter experience at its center, and contributing to sustainable urban development with the best integration of public and private transportation,” said Pras Ganesh, Executive Program Director, Asia Region, Toyota Mobility Foundation.

The paper was released as part of Station Access and Mobility Program (STAMP), which is an initiative led by TMF and WRI India to promote better multimodal integration of metro rail, with other modes of transportation in Indian cities, through a partnership model with the innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystem. The initiative, which launched in 2016 in Bengaluru, has also been deployed in six other cities, namely Hyderabad, Kochi, Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and Delhi.

Unleashing The Power: A Comprehensive Guide To Maintaining Your Jeep In The Heart of the Motorsports Hub

As a Jeep owner, you’ve got a powerful machine at your disposal. But to truly unleash its potential, especially in the heart of the motorsports hub, you’ve got to stay on top of maintenance. Regular maintenance ensures peak performance and extends your vehicle’s lifespan.

It’s not just about oil changes and tire rotations, though. You’ll want to tackle common repair issues head-on and enhance your vehicle’s off-road capabilities.

Plus, you can perform DIY repairs with the right tools, saving you a pretty penny.

And let’s not forget safety measures and precautions; they’re crucial for enjoying a smooth, worry-free ride. So buckle up because we’re diving headfirst into the world of Jeep maintenance.

In this comprehensive guide, you’ll find everything you need to keep your Jeep roaring on the roads and trails. Let’s get your beast in tip-top shape!

Regular Maintenance Schedule for Optimal Performance

You’ve got to keep a regular maintenance schedule if you want your Jeep to perform at its peak, especially in the heart of the motorsports hub.

The engine is the heart of your vehicle, so regular oil changes are crucial. Ensure you get that oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles or every 3 to 6 months, whichever comes first. This prevents grime from building up and causing damage to your engine over time.

You also can’t neglect the tires. Ensure they’re correctly inflated and regularly rotated. This helps fuel efficiency and keeps your ride smooth and handling sharp. Check your tire pressure weekly and rotate them every 6,000 miles.

Remember to change the air filter, typically every 12,000 to 15,000 miles. This keeps debris out of your engine and helps it run more efficiently. Don’t forget about brake maintenance, either. Have your brake pads inspected at every oil change and replaced as needed.

Keeping your Jeep in top-notch condition isn’t just about these basics. It’s also about being aware of any unusual noises or signs of wear.

Next, we explore how to tackle common repair issues.

Tackling Common Repair Issues

In the bustling world of off-roading and high-performance driving, it’s crucial to know how to handle the common repair issues that can arise with your beloved four-wheeler. Your Jeep may experience issues like brake wear, overheating, engine oil leaks, or transmission problems. Don’t panic; these are common, and knowing how to tackle them can save you a lot of stress.

You’ll first notice a squeaking noise or decreased stopping power when dealing with brake wear. This calls for a quick replacement of brake pads or rotors.

Overheating can be due to a damaged radiator or a faulty thermostat. Always monitor your temperature gauge and ensure your coolant is at the right level.

Engine oil leaks can result from a worn-out gasket or a loose oil filter, both of which are easy fixes.

Lastly, difficulty shifting gears often signals transmission problems, requiring a fluid change or a complete overhaul.

Now that you’re armed with knowledge of common repair issues, you’re ready to take on the next challenge. Dive into how you can further enhance your vehicle’s off-road capabilities by embracing the thrilling world of motorsports.

Enhancing Your Vehicle’s Off-Road Capabilities

Ready to ramp up the thrill factor? Let’s dive into how to boost your vehicle’s off-road prowess. Enhancing your Jeep’s off-road capabilities involves mechanical know-how and practical upgrades. It’s not just about aesthetics; it’s about making your vehicle more adaptable, resilient, and capable in challenging terrain.

  1. Upgrade your tires: Choose larger, wider tires with deep treads. They provide better traction, enabling your Jeep to navigate muddy, rocky, or sandy terrain easily.
  2. Improve Suspension: A high-performance suspension system can cushion your vehicle against shocks and bumps, enhancing ride comfort and vehicle stability.
  3. Install a winch. This can be a lifesaver in sticky situations, helping pull your vehicle out of mud or other obstacles.
  4. Protective Accessories: Skid plates protect vital components from damage, while rock sliders prevent dents and scratches when navigating rocky terrain.

Each enhancement contributes to a more powerful, off-road-ready Jeep. Remember, it’s about creating a vehicle that matches your adventurous spirit and off-road demands.

To optimize your Jeep’s off-road capabilities and be prepared for any adventure, you must equip yourself with the necessary tools for DIY repairs.

Whether tackling upgrades or regular maintenance, having the right tools is crucial. And for added peace of mind, you can also rely on a reputable Jeep service center in Dubai to ensure your vehicle remains in top shape and is ready to conquer any off-road challenge.

Essential Tools for DIY Repairs

Armed with the right tools, handling common vehicle problems and keeping your off-road beast running smoothly is easier.

A comprehensive tool kit for your Jeep should include a set of wrenches, screwdrivers, and sockets in various sizes. These tools will be useful when tightening loose bolts, removing parts for repairs, or installing new components.

A torque wrench is another essential; it ensures that bolts are tightened to the correct specifications, preventing over- or under-tightening. Similarly, a multimeter is vital for diagnosing electrical issues and helping you understand if your vehicle’s battery or alternator is working correctly.

Invest in a high-quality hydraulic jack and stands for lifting your Jeep securely during repairs or tire changes. Keep a tire pressure gauge handy to maintain appropriate pressure, ensuring optimal performance and fuel efficiency.

Don’t forget to include a battery jump starter in your tool kit. This can be a lifesaver when you’re out in the wilderness, and your battery decides to quit on you.

As you assemble your toolbox, remember that knowledge is power. The more prepared you are, the better you’ll handle any situation that comes your way.

Now that you’re equipped for DIY repairs let’s shift gears and delve into important safety measures and precautions every Jeep owner should know.

Safety Measures and Precautions for Jeep Owners

Driving a Jeep isn’t just about the thrill of off-road adventures; it’s also about staying safe while you’re at it. As a Jeep owner, you must prioritize safety measures and precautions as much as you focus on the vehicle’s performance and maintenance. Here are some critical safety practices you should incorporate:

  1. Regular vehicle inspection: Conduct a thorough check of your Jeep before every trip, especially when planning off-road adventures. Examine the tires, brakes, and engine to ensure optimal condition.
  2. Seatbelt usage: Always buckle up. It’s a simple measure that can save lives during accidents. Remember, your Jeep’s safety features can only do so much without your cooperation.
  3. Driving under the influence: Avoid driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Not only is it illegal, but it also significantly impairs your ability to operate the vehicle safely.
  4. Speed limits: Follow posted speed limits. Jeeps are designed for rough terrain, not high speeds. Overspeeding may lead to a loss of control, especially on uneven surfaces.

Your safety as a Jeep owner is paramount. By adhering to these safety measures and precautions, you’re not just protecting yourself but also ensuring the longevity of your vehicle. Remember, a safe Jeep owner is a happy Jeep owner. Keep your ride in top shape and stay safe on the road.

Conclusion

You’ve got this! Keep your Jeep in top shape with regular maintenance and common repairs. Enhance its off-road capabilities and DIY repairs with the right tools. Remember, safety comes first.

Now, unleash the power of your Jeep in the heart of the motorsports hub!
