The Report on ‘Rowdy’:

KBM owner-driver Kyle Busch makes his fifth and final Craftsman Truck Series start of 2023 behind the wheel of the No. 51 Zariz Transport Silverado in Saturday’s 60-lap event at Pocono Raceway. Busch opened his 2023 Truck Series schedule with a dominant victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March and has two runner-up finishes this season. In his most recent start, he finished seventh at Kansas Speedway in May. Including his 2023 results, Busch has an average finish of 3.16 over his last 30 Truck Series starts while recording 15 wins and nine runner-up finishes during that span.

The Las Vegas native has two victories (2015 and 2018) across five career starts in Truck Series action at “The Tricky Triangle.” In his most recent Truck Series start at the 2.5-mile tri-oval he finished second to his KBM teammate John Hunter Nemechek in the 2021 event. Starting with Busch’s win in 2015, a KBM driver has won seven of the last eight Truck Series events at Pocono, including Chandler Smith’s victory last year. Busch also has four Cup Series wins (2017, 2018, 2019 and 2021) and one Xfinity Series triumph (2018) at Pocono.

Busch’s Vegas victory was his record-extending 63rd career Craftsman Truck Series victory. The win was the first for KBM under the Chevrolet banner, after collecting the first 98 with Toyota. For Busch, it was his first win in a Chevrolet truck since November of 2007 at Phoenix Raceway. With his win at Las Vegas, he extended his series-best streak of winning at least one race to 11 consecutive Truck Series seasons (2013-2023).

‘Rowdy’ has won 37.3% (63/169) of the Truck Series races he has entered in his career and has finished first or second in 56.8% (96/169). In addition to his Truck Series leading 63 wins, he also ranks first all-time among Truck Series drivers in driver rating (123.7), average finish (6.4) and is second in laps led (7,780).

Busch, who claimed KBM’s first Truck Series victory at Nashville Superspeedway in April of 2010, will be looking to collect his organization’s 100th NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series victory on Saturday. His Las Vegas win in March was KBM’s record-extending 99th career victory leaving his organization one shy of the century mark. Overall, 18 different drivers have won at least one race behind the wheel of a KBM truck, led by Busch’s 47. Four drivers rank second on the list with seven victories: William Byron, Christopher Bell, Erik Jones and John Hunter Nemechek. Seven of KBM’s wins have come at Pocono, including two by Busch.

Veteran crew chief Brian Pattie is calling the shots for the No. 51 team this year in his first season at KBM after spending the last 14 seasons atop the pit box in the NASCAR Cup Series. In the Cup Series, his drivers produced six wins, nine poles, 57 top-five and 131 top-10 finishes across 528 starts. In 2012, he guided Clint Bowyer to three victories and a runner-up finish in the Cup Series championship standings. In 2017, he guided Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to two wins and a berth in the playoffs. The Florida native has also recorded 11 wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and now has two wins as a crew chief in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Saturday will be Pattie’s first time calling a Truck Series race at Pocono Raceway. His best result across 28 Cup Series starts was a second-place finish with Juan Pablo Montoya in 2009.

The No. 51 team currently ranks seventh in the Craftsman Truck Series owner’s point standings. Across 14 starts in 2023, the team has recorded one win, one pole, 163 laps led, five top-five and eight top-10 finishes resulting in an average finish of 11.7. With two races remaining in the regular season, they sit 39 points above the cutoff line for making the owner’s playoffs.

Zariz Transport, a fast growing intermodal drayage company specializing in transporting containers from the ports, has served as the primary sponsor on Busch’s Silverado for all five of his races in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series this year. Billy Ballew Motorsports will serve as an associate sponsor on the No. 51 Saturday at Pocono. You can find the lowest prices on used Cars, Trucks and SUV’s at www.BillyBallewMotorsports.com.

Matt Mills will make his KBM debut behind the wheel of the No. 51 J.F. Electric Chevrolet at Richmond Raceway next week.
Kyle Busch, Driver Q&A:

KBM has been very good at Pocono in recent years. How has your team been able to be so successful there?

“Pocono is a track that we put a lot of emphasis on in our early days. When the Craftsman Truck Series first started going there, we got our butt kicked by KHI the first couple years — really, really bad — and I wasn’t too thrilled about it. So, after that, we put a lot of emphasis on getting better there and focusing on that place. We went and tested there in 2015 when Rudy (Fugle) was the crew chief with Erik Jones, and I was able to go to the test and be there as well and ever since then we’ve been really good. We went back for the race a month later and I was able to bring home the win and I think we’ve won at Pocono every year except one year since then — even had a couple of KBM 1-2 finishes along the way. This will be our first time showing up with Team Chevy, so I’m looking forward to our Silverados being fast out there and of course me being behind the wheel of the Zariz Transport Silverado hoping that we can get another win for them to cap off their first year as sponsor in NASCAR on a high note. If we can do that, it’ll be KBM’s 100th — it’s been talked about way too long that we’ve been trying to bring home that monumental win, so hopefully we can knock that out of the way Saturday.”

Kyle Busch Craftsman Truck Series Career Highlights:

  • Busch has a total of 169 Craftsman Truck Series starts and is ranked first all-time in wins (63), driver rating (123.7) and average finish (6.4).
  • The 38-year-old driver has won 37.3% (63/169) of the NCTS races he has entered and finished first or second in 56.8% (96/169).

  • Kyle Busch’s No. 51 Chevrolet Silverado RST:

KBM-77: The No. 51 Zariz team will unload KBM-77 for Saturday’s race at Pocono Raceway. The Silverado made its debut at Darlington Raceway with William Byron where he led seven laps and brought home a fourth-place finish.

KBM Notes of Interest:

  • Across 32 starts at Pocono, KBM drivers have earned seven wins, two poles, 325 laps led, 17 top-five and 25 top-10 finishes, with an average starting position of 8.8 and an average finish of 8.5.
  • Chandler Smith picked up the organization’s most recent win at Pocono last year. Busch has tallied two wins (2015 and 2018) at the 2.5-mile track while Smith (2022), John Hunter Nemechek (2021), Brandon Jones (2020), Christopher Bell (2017), and William Byron (2016) each have one win.
  • KBM holds the Craftsman Truck Series records for most career wins (99) and most wins in a single season (14 in 2014). With his victory at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway last year, Corey Heim became the 18th different driver to win a Truck Series event for KBM. In addition to collecting a series-record seven Owner’s Championships, the organization has produced two championship-winning drivers: Erik Jones (2015) and Christopher Bell (2017).
  • With 41 victories, the No. 51 is the winningest number in KBM’s Truck Series fleet.

Notes of Interest

● Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway will feature double the HighPoint.com branding as Chase Briscoe’s No. 14 Ford Mustang entry regains the familiar blue-and-white scheme for the recently named HighPoint.com 400. Briscoe is fresh off his fifth top-10 finish of the season earned Monday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon. It was his best result since a fourth-place finish in the non-points-paying NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro (N.C.) Speedway on May 21.

● The leading IT infrastructure and solutions company entered a partnership with Pocono to sponsor the 160-lap race this season. The event takes place at the 2.5-mile triangle just 90 minutes west of Sparta, New Jersey, where the company was founded in 1996. HighPoint serves markets in the Tri-State Region and Southeastern United States, with a presence in Charlotte, North Carolina, and overseas in London and The Netherlands.

● In his third Cup Series start at the Tricky Triangle in 2022, Briscoe earned his best finish of 15th and qualified 13th.

● Briscoe has visited Pocono’s victory lane twice – once in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and once in the ARCA Menards Series. In 2020, the native of Mitchell, Indiana, overcame a pit-road speeding penalty, a near-miss in a multicar accident and a late-race spin while leading to notch his fourth Xfinity Series win of the season and the first home-track win for HighPoint.com. He led 24 laps that day.

● On July 29, 2016, Briscoe won the ARCA event at Pocono, the last in a series of four consecutive victories that year. He led all but nine of the race’s 60 laps. Following Pocono, he picked up two more victories to take the ARCA championship by an impressive 535 points.

● Briscoe finished ninth in his lone NASCAR Truck Series start at Pocono in 2017.

Chase Briscoe, Driver of the No. 14 HighPoint.com Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing:

Pocono is known for being an extremely finicky track. How have you been able to find success there?

“I have always really liked Pocono for whatever reason and it just kind of fits my driving style. I like a challenge and you get that there. Your car is never going to drive perfect, it’ll likely be bad in one of the corners and you just have to deal with it and work on getting it right in the other two and on straightaways. You have to get used to being really uncomfortable, and you have to adapt and change things as the race goes on. You’re constantly searching, trying to find whatever it is that you need to make your car just a little bit better in one small part of the track. Every little thing is critical as far as getting your timing right, your momentum right. If you lose time in the wrong area because you’re trying to pass somebody and don’t clear him, you lose a lot more than you would somewhere else.”

How do you keep your head in the right place for a track that challenging?

“I think some guys go in with the mindset or mentality where they’re already kind of defeated before they get there because it’s such a tough track. That’s half the battle and I’ve always loved racing there. But it is probably one of the most terrifying places we race. The front straightaway is so long, and you can’t see the end of the corner. You’re almost going into this 90-degree corner and, you know, hopefully you come out OK on the other side. The racing is tough but the track has a great atmosphere with all the fans camping, so if you can go in knowing you have challenges that you just have to manage, the success will come and then you get to go out and celebrate with all of those people that have stuck it out all weekend.”

For a team that is in the position of having to win to make the playoffs, is Pocono a track you look forward to as the regular season winds down?

“We have to win and that does open the door for some strategy. Pocono is a great place for that. You can kind of get off strategy and try some things to get track position and then just keep it up front. We’ve just got to go there and win, there is no other plan, and we need to do that for HighPoint, as well, to get their in car in victory lane for their race. There would be no better outcome but, no matter what, every race is chance for us to learn. You hope you’re doing that with a win, but we can always find things to take away for improvement.”

Notes of Interest

● Kevin Harvick has a sweet ride this weekend at Pocono (Pa.) Raceway. The 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion will drive the No. 4 Busch Light Peach Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) in Sunday’s HighPoint.com 400 at the 2.5-mile triangle. Busch Light Peach is a crisp, refreshing, peach-flavored lager with a touch of sweet on the front end and a clear, beer finish on the back end. It is available for a limited time only in 12-, 24- and 30-packs nationwide.

● Pocono is known as the “Tricky Triangle” for its three distinct corners connected by three straightaways, including an enormously long 3,740-foot frontstretch. It is the only triangle-shaped track on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar, and its layout was designed by two-time Indianapolis 500 champion Rodger Ward, who modeled each of its three turns after a different track. Turn one, which is banked at 14 degrees, is from the legendary Trenton (N.J.) Speedway. Turn two, banked at 8 degrees, is a nod to the turns at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. And turn three, banked at 6 degrees, is based on the corners at The Milwaukee Mile. The first race on the 2.5-mile triangle came in 1971, but it wasn’t until Aug. 4, 1974 that NASCAR visited, with the inaugural race won by NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty.

● Sunday’s HighPoint.com 400 will mark Harvick’s 44th NASCAR Cup Series start at Pocono. The 23-year Cup Series veteran has finished among the top-10 in half of those starts, and among active drivers, Harvick leads the series in top-fives (15) and top-10s (22) there. Fellow Cup Series veteran Denny Hamlin is next best, trailing Harvick with 14 top-fives and 21 top-10s.

● On June 27, 2020, in his 39th NASCAR Cup Series start at Pocono, Harvick finally nabbed a coveted victory at the “Tricky Triangle.” After starting ninth and methodically working his way toward the front, Harvick led the final 17 laps to take the checkered flag by .761 of a second over runner-up Hamlin in the first race of a doubleheader weekend. Harvick then followed up his win with a strong second-place finish Sunday, as Hamlin came home the victor.

● Harvick has five second-place finishes at Pocono, and all of them have come since joining SHR in 2014. And in Harvick’s last 16 races at Pocono – all of which have come with SHR – the driver of the No. 4 Busch Light Peach Ford Mustang has only three finishes outside the top-10.

● Harvick has also enjoyed success at Pocono away from the NASCAR Cup Series. He has made two career NASCAR Truck Series starts at the track, winning from the pole in 2011 and finishing second in 2015.

● In a season that is celebrating Harvick’s milestones – as it’s his 23rd and final year as a NASCAR Cup Series driver – the 47-year-old racer added two more milestones this past Monday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon.

● In taking the green flag for the Crayon 301, Harvick made his 810th career Cup Series start, surpassing NASCAR Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip for eighth all-time. Harvick is on track to finish the year with 826 career starts. He’s part of an impressive club that includes Richard Petty (1,185 starts), Ricky Rudd (906), Terry Labonte (890), Dave Marcis (883), Mark Martin (882), Kyle Petty (829), Bill Elliott (828), Waltrip (809) and Jeff Gordon (805). Harvick was the fifth-youngest driver to make 800 starts, which he accomplished on April 23 at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway.

● When Harvick took the lead on lap 239, he led his 16,000th career lap in the Cup Series. He led a total of 10 laps at New Hampshire, bringing his tally to 16,009 entering the HighPoint.com 400 at Pocono. Harvick is one of just 11 drivers who have surpassed 16,000 laps led. The leader in this category is seven-time Cup Series champion Richard Petty. “The King” led a whopping 51,514 laps in his storied career.

Kevin Harvick, Driver of the No. 4 Busch Light Peach Ford Mustang

What makes a lap at Pocono so challenging?

“When you look at Pocono, you know that you’re going to have a challenge of getting your car to handle in all three corners. That’s the biggest challenge when it comes to Pocono. You have to make sure you can get all you can coming to turn three because the straightaway after that is really, really long. You can kind of give up the Tunnel Turn, but you still need to be very good in all three corners. It’s just a different style of racetrack than what we go to on a week-to-week basis.”

You mentioned the Tunnel Turn – what makes it so difficult?

“The Tunnel Turn is difficult just because you try to carry so much speed through there. It’s not an extremely hard corner, but it’s an extremely hard corner to carry speed through there without having the front end push or the back slide out. It’s not an extremely hard corner until you try to go through there as fast as you can lap after lap. It’s an easy corner to make a mistake. You can give up a lot of time there, but you can also make a lot of time.”

How big of a deal is aero at Pocono, specifically, battling through dirty air when you’re in traffic?

“Air is a big deal everywhere, now, but obviously at Pocono you have some flatter, sharper, different style of corners than some of the places that we go to, so you wind up having to have a really good car to make a pass. That makes track position important, and the restarts, as well.”

Pocono seems to have a road-course element to it – some flat, fast corners, some bumps, plenty of shifting – does that make it a track that puts more of the race in your hands?

“I’ve never found the road-course similarities, so for me that’s a little something that I’ve never agreed with. But I think Pocono, especially with what we have in today’s world with all the shifting and things that you have access to, is definitely a different style of race than it used to be. You just have a lot to do as a driver. It doesn’t necessarily put more in your hands, you just have a lot to do.”

Drivers now shift at seemingly all the tracks on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule, but shifting on an oval really seemed to first come into vogue at Pocono. Can you talk about the element of shifting at Pocono – when you started doing it, why you started doing it, and how you’re currently shifting there?

“We used to have an overdrive for fourth gear and you just downshift into turn one, so then it evolved into more shifting, then it evolved into no shifting with rules, and now we’re back to the most shifting that we’ve ever done there. It’s definitely gone all over the place, and I think with this car you wind up shifting everywhere, so it’s not as big of a deal as it probably once was.”

You’ve been successful at Pocono through a couple different generations of racecars and technologies. Do you take satisfaction in being able to be so consistent for so long?

“I do, because it was not always our best track at RCR (Richard Childress Racing). We got it figured out at the end, but we’ve always run really well there since I’ve been at Stewart-Haas Racing. So to have the opportunity to go up there and be in victory lane was pretty neat. And that was always one of the main focuses of Rodney (Childers, crew chief) – all the racetracks where I haven’t won at, he wanted to win at.”

Pocono used to serve as a doubleheader on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule. Did you like the doubleheader format and, perhaps even more specifically, did you like the off-weekend it added to the Cup Series calendar?

“I’m all about off-weekends, so I’m going to build myself in some off weekends for next year. But having the doubleheader and having the unique starting format for the second day, and everything that went with that weekend, I thought was pretty unique. And I think anything we can do to shorten the schedule with stuff like that is something that would be very good for everybody, to have one or two more off-weekends.”

How do you balance staying competitive while still taking in the moments of these final races at NASCAR tracks?

“It’s really been no issue. We’ve had such a laid-out plan for so long, and all that was intended to know that you’re going to do things, but also put yourself in a position to be competitive. We’ve done that pretty much every week except for Chicago and North Wilkesboro. You just have to grind away, and that’s just kind of the nature of the beast. With this particular car, you’re just going to have some weeks that you’re ‘off.’ For the most part, we’ve been competitive. We’ve had a couple of chances to win races, and it just hadn’t all come together to be able to get to victory lane. From the competition side, I think everything has gone well, and the rest of it – we planned for and knew it would be more work than what a normal season would be. I think there are some places that you look at and realize everything that you’ve been able to accomplish throughout the years. That’s the cool part about this year – you can let your guard down, go back and say, ‘Yeah, it has been a good racetrack for us.’ That makes it fun, because there’s nothing to hide anymore. You don’t have to hide what you think about really anything, just because of the fact that next year is different. For years, I didn’t want everybody to really know what I thought, what I was thinking, or know too much about you, because you can put yourself in a position where people know your weaknesses or strong points. So the less you say, the less they know. That’s not really relevant this year, and it’s been fun to kind of just let your guard down and say what you think.”

Honeycutt on Saturday’s Race at Pocono Raceway: “I’m so happy to get this opportunity with Niece Motorsports. I’ve raced at Pocono before, so I’m not super unfamiliar with the track. I’ve had a few opportunities to get behind the wheel this season in the Truck Series, but this is my biggest opportunity thus far so I’m excited to show what this team can do.”

Honeycutt at Pocono Raceway: Saturday will be Kaden Honeycutt’s second start at the 2.5-mile Pocono Raceway. In one previous start at Pocono, Honeycutt finished 25th after qualifying 33rd.

Returning to the Truck Series: “I’m excited to get back behind the wheel and am extremely thankful to Al Niece and everyone at Niece Motorsports for the opportunity,” said Honeycutt. “We’re hopeful that we can get some more partners to come on board and make some more starts this season. I’ve been working at the shop the last few months, so I know how hard this organization is working to field fast trucks.”

2023 Success: Honeycutt turned heads earlier this season, turning in strong performances at some of the circuit’s toughest tracks. The Texas-native earned four top-15 finishes in seven starts, including top-10s at the Bristol dirt track and Darlington Raceway.

The No. 41 Truck Last Race at Mid-Ohio: Conor Daly was behind the wheel of the No. 41 Unishippers Silverado two weeks ago at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Daly showed speed throughout the weekend, but was hampered by a power steering problem from the start of practice to the end of the race. Daly battled all race long, finishing 18th.

Daly on Last Race at Mid-Ohio: “Sadly, we struggled from lap one with the power steering going in and out every lap. So, that made it super challenging to drive — I tried to keep going and hold on. I think the truck was really fast and I appreciate the team’s work; it was just a real challenge to get the most out of it. I’d love another shot to come back and give it another run because we were quick. I’m just thankful to have this chance; this is a great team.”

Chastain at Pocono Raceway: In four starts at Pocono Raceway in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Ross Chastain has not finished worse than 10th. In his last two starts at the track, he has an average finish of 3.5, including a win in 2019, where he led all but six laps.

Chastain on Saturday’s Race at Pocono Raceway: “We’ve had success together at Pocono, scoring a win in 2019. I’m excited to get back into the No. 41 WWEX Racing Chevrolet Silverado again this coming weekend. The Niece Motorsports group has been bringing some fast race trucks to the track lately.”

On the Truck: Chastain’s No. 41 Worldwide Express Chevrolet Silverado will race with support from the WWEX group of brands, which comprises Worldwide Express, Unishippers and GlobalTranz, and offers full-service logistics expertise to more than 115,000 customers across the country.

Mid-Ohio Recap: In the final road course race of the year, Lawless Alan was able to impress. The Los Angeles driver was able to collect a stage point with a 10th-place finish in Stage One after starting the race 21st. Unfortunately for the driver of the No. 45, he was not able to get back into the top-10 after the first stage, ultimately finishing 17th, and tying his best finish of the season thus far.

Alan on Last Race at Mid-Ohio: “I’m happy with how the day went for our team. We were able to run up front, collect a stage point, and show our speed after coming from the back multiple times. It was really sketchy when the track was wet, but I think that’s where I made up the most time. In the end, I wish we could have finished a bit better, but it’s a step in the right direction for our team.”

Alan at Pocono Raceway: Alan will make his third-career start at Pocono this weekend. In two previous starts, Alan has a best finish of 20th and an average finish of 21st.

Alan on Saturday’s Race at Pocono Raceway: “I get some added confidence coming to a track I’ve been to more than once. Pocono is one of those tracks and I’ve had decent runs there the past two years. That said, I’m hoping to build on our good finish last race in Mid-Ohio and improve our season-best finish.”

Mid-Ohio Recap: After starting just outside the top-10, Carson Hocevar found himself multiple laps down by the end of the first stage after being collected in multiple incidents on the rain-soaked road course. But, with solid strategy and perseverance, Hocevar made up both laps, finishing 12th.

Hocevar on Last Race at Mid-Ohio: “Mid-Ohio was just as tough mentally as it was physically. We had to go through wet and dry conditions, battle a damaged truck, and race with power steering issues throughout the race, so to rebound with a 12th-place finish feels good. We had an incredible strategy call by Phil [Gould] late in the race and I think that’s what saved us. Overall, it was a good turnaround and I’m ready for Pocono.”

Hocevar at Pocono Raceway: In two starts at the Tricky Triangle, Carson Hocevar has an average finish of ninth, including a fifth-place finish a year ago. Hocevar has qualified inside the top-15 for both races and has not finished worse than 13th.

Hocevar on Saturday’s Race at Pocono Raceway: “Niece Motorsports always brings good trucks to Pocono, so I’m excited to get back to the track. We finished inside the top-five there last year and scored stage points. It’s an important track to this team as Ross [Chastain] won here a few years back. It’s a high speed track that gets very technical in the corners, but is super fun to race at and I think we can put our Worldwide Express Silverado up towards the front.”

On the Truck: Hocevar’s No. 42 Worldwide Express Chevrolet Silverado will race with support from the WWEX group of brands, which comprises Worldwide Express, Unishippers and GlobalTranz, and offers full-service logistics expertise to more than 115,000 customers across the country.

CORVETTE RACING AT LIME ROCK: Going for Two

No. 3 C8.R team will try to go back-to-back after class win in Canada

DETROIT (July 18, 2023) – Long tracks and short tracks… Corvette Racing has won at them both. It’s the latter that’s next on the team’s calendar as the longest-running sports car racing program in North America heads to Lime Rock Park for Saturday’s FCP Euro Northeast Grand Prix presented by Liqui Moly.

The No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R of Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor will look for back-to-back victories this weekend, having won the last time out at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park two weeks ago. As was the case then – and at most stops on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule – Corvette Racing owns a stellar record at Lime Rock.

With six victories at the 1.474-mile, seven-turn road course in northwestern Connecticut, no team in IMSA history has won more times at Lime Rock than Corvette Racing. In fact, no team in the paddock has half the number of victories at the circuit.

A seventh Lime Rock triumph would go a long way toward helping Garcia, Taylor, the No. 3 C8.R team and Chevrolet get back in prime position to fight for the GT Daytona (GTD) PRO championship. There are five rounds to go counting this weekend with the Corvette squad third in the Drivers, Manufacturers and Teams standings and within striking distance of first place.

The Garcia/Taylor pairing has stood on the top step at Lime Rock before, taking victory in the GT-only race in 2021. This is the first of two races this season to feature only GTD PRO and GTD cars, the second coming at Virginia International Raceway in August. Of note, six of Corvette Racing’s 126 victories worldwide have been overall wins, including the 2021 Lime Rock win for the No. 3 Corvette.

The FCP Euro Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park is scheduled for 12:10 p.m. ET on Saturday, July 22. The race will air live on USA and stream live on Peacock inside the United States and IMSA.com outside the U.S. IMSA Radio will air all on-track sessions beginning with Friday morning’s practice at IMSA.com with the race call also on XM 207 and SiriusXM Online 992.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “It’s always good to go right back to racing after a win. Everyone I think gets to the track feeling better about things, so I hope that is the case for us at Lime Rock. This is a very intense and physical race usually. It’s so hard to pass and if we are stuck behind GTDs, especially early, then it can be a long and frustrating day. This race is all about track position, so we need to arrive at the track with everything right on our Corvette so we can start fine-tuning immediately. That will be the easiest and best way to start toward the front and hopefully stay there.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “Lime Rock is such a unique race for us. It’s nothing like any of our other events, a true bullring of a track. I feel like we’ve had a few races in a row now that we’ve been executing on all levels, and everything fell into place for us at CTMP to get the win. With Lime Rock being such a big race on execution, I always like our chances with Corvette Racing. And if we need to make some positions on track, maybe some of my stock car experience from this year can come into play.”

  • 6: Number of victories at Lime Rock for Corvette Racing, the most of any entrant in IMSA.
  • 7: Number of drivers who have won races at Lime Rock for Corvette Racing – Oliver Gavin (four), Olivier Beretta (three), Jan Magnussen (two), and Johnny O’Connell and Tommy Milner (one each). Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor joined the list with last year’s victory
  • 7: Fastest race laps for Corvette Racing drivers at Lime Rock. Antonio Garcia (2017) was the most recent

  • 100: As in Corvette Racing’s 100th program victory at Lime Rock Park in 2016
  • 126: Victories worldwide for Corvette Racing – 113 in North America, nine at Le and three in the FIA WEC. The most recent came in the last IMSA round at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park
  • 277: Event starts by Corvette Racing since 1999.
  • 6,708.24: Number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing in its 15 previous trips to Lime Rock Park. That represents 4,412 laps or 64 trips from the Empire State Building in New York City to the track
  • 359,080.28: Total number of racing miles completed by Corvette Racing since its inception. To put that in perspective, Corvette Racing is more than halfway to the distance traveled by Apollo 13 – the longest manned spaceflight in history: 622,268 miles. That means Corvette Racing has raced to the moon… and then some!

Meyer Shank Racing Heads to Iowa Double-Header

#06: Helio Castroneves, Meyer Shank Racing Honda

Conor Daly will sub for Pagenaud in the No. 60 AutoNation / SiriusXM Honda

Pataskala, Ohio (18 July 2023) – Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) is prepared for the only double-header INDYCAR SERIES event of the season at Iowa Speedway this weekend after a quick turnaround following a tough team weekend on the streets of Toronto on Sunday.

Following further evaluation, MSR full-season driver Simon Pagenaud has not been cleared by the INDYCAR Medical Team to compete in the Hy-Vee INDYCAR Race Weekend at Iowa Speedway.

The decision comes three weeks after Pagenaud experienced a massive shunt at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course following a manufacturer brake failure. Having done so on short notice at Mid-Ohio, Conor Daly will once again step into the No. 60 AutoNation / SiriusXM Honda and substitute for Pagenaud. The No. 60 Honda will also feature a new logo on its side pod starting this weekend. Eight-time GRAMMY winner, Carrie Underwood launched her new SiriusXM Channel, “Carrie’s Country” – SXM Ch. 60 – with the logo being displayed on the side of the No. 60 Honda at Iowa Motor Speedway and Nashville.

Last weekend Meyer Shank Racing recruited its IMSA championship winning driver, Tom Blomqvist to sub in the No. 60 Honda in Toronto – marking a big INDYCAR SERIES debut for the Brit who was unfortunately collected in a first lap crash.

Daly heads into the Iowa weekend with seven race starts at the 0.875-mile tri-oval and a bundle of recent success. Iowa Speedway was the site of Daly’s first-ever INDYCAR SERIES pole position in 2020 as one of his three career top-three qualifying results, with the American racer earning his best race finish of eighth in 2020.

Helio Castroneves heads into the third oval of the season looking for a change of fortunes after getting knocked out of the Honda Indy Toronto event. The Iowa circuit could be a good spot to do that, as Castroneves has a strong record at the short oval. He qualified on the front row in his first outing in Iowa in 2007, claiming his first pole position at Iowa two years later in 2009, and then scoring a win at the Midwest bullring in 2017.

In addition to the double-header race weekend, the Hy-Vee event will put on two concerts on Saturday and Sunday.

The Hy-Vee Iowa weekend will feature the first of two races on Saturday – the Hy-Vee Homefront 250 with broadcast coverage on NBC starting at 3:00pm ET. The Hy-Vee One-Step 250 will go green on Sunday at 2:00pm ET with coverage on NBC. SiriusXM will also host live weekend IndyCar Radio coverage on XM Ch. 160.

Meyer Shank Racing Team Quotes:

Conor Daly:

“I’m thankful to Mike and Jim to calling me up to fill in for Simon again this weekend in Iowa. Obviously I’m wishing him the best and hope that he gets well soon. Iowa has definitely become one of my favorite tracks in the last couple of years. Obviously I have qualified really well there – qualified on the pole and started in the top three the last two years. Hopefully we can replicate that qualifying performance, but also deliver in the race. The team does an incredible job to prepare the car, so we’re going to do our best for Simon again. We’ll do everything we can to score some more points for the team and I’m thankful to drive this No. 60 car again for AutoNation and SiriusXm

Helio Castroneves:

“Iowa is definitely one of my favorite track to race at and its a place that I have done really well at in the past. I’m also looking forward to heading back to an oval, we haven’t raced on one since Indy, so that should be exciting. And of course, the weekend is just a huge show with the concerts and it has drawn tons of fans, so I’m really looking forward to it.”
