PREVIEW: Wright Motorsports Revs up for Thrills at VIRginia International Raceway

ALTON, Vir., (June 15, 2023) – As the SRO America starts back up its season, Wright Motorsports will rev back up its efforts in the two top GT3-based series. Wright continues to lead the Fanatec GT World Challenge America championship fight as the Porsche customer racing team heads into rounds seven and eight at VIRginia International Raceway (VIR). The GT America powered by AWS series will host rounds nine and ten of the 18-race championship, officially hitting the halfway point in the season. Based in the wooded fields of Alton, Virginia, the 3.27, 17-turn course will be the beautiful backdrop as the pair of Wright Porsches compete in the two sets of championships June 26-18.

“We’re ready to resume the 2023 SRO America championships,” said Team Owner John Wright. “We had a brief break for Le Mans, where four Wright drivers went overseas to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Le Mans Cup. While they didn’t get the results they were hoping for, Charlie Luck and Jan Heylen are more motivated than ever to push for strong results this week. Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer are also on a great roll, and we’re ready to continue to make gains in the championships.”

In GT World Challenge America, Wright Motorsports is riding strong momentum through the season, having recently secured four podiums in the two previous rounds at Circuit of the Americas. The No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 R race car of Charlie Luck and Jan Heylen celebrated their first double-podium weekend of the year, while the No. 120 Porsche of Adam Adelson and Elliott Skeer swept both victories. The team holds a 46-point lead over CrowdStrike by Riley and TRG the Racers Group, both of whom are tied for second place. Adelson and Skeer lead the Pro/Am driver points, with a 36-point lead over George Kurtz, Colin Braun, and Derek Deboer. Luck and Heylen sit close behind in sixth place in what continues to be a tight championship fight. The weekend will host a pair of 90-minute races on Saturday, June 17 at 3:10 PM ET, and Sunday, June 18 at 3:15 PM ET.

Adam Adelson has been making his own way in the GT America championship. The young driver stands fifth in the championship standings, having missed the first two opening rounds of the season. He olds four top-five finishes in six races, recently closing out the previous round at Circuit of the Americas in second place. This weekend at VIRginia International Raceway, he’ll compete in a pair of 40-minute races, competing against 23 other entries for top honors in the bronze-only series. Race one will take place on Saturday, June 17 at 1:00 PM ET, followed by race two at 8:45 AM ET on Sunday, June 18.

All races will air live on Youtube.com/GTworld.

DRIVER QUOTES

Charlie Luck // No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 R

I was extremely fortunate to have the opportunity to compete in two Le Mans Cup this past week, which are 55 minute pro/am events. I learned an awful lot and had an absolute blast. An eight-mile track and 33 corners, taking about four minutes per lap, is an incredible experience.

I’m really excited about coming back to VIR, which is my home track. We’ve had lots of success here over the years. Jan and I are ready to work hard and make the best possible result happen.

Jan Heylen // No. 45 Porsche 911 GT3 R

I’m happy to be back at one of my favorite tracks of the season. VIR is such a fun track with a good mix of high and low-speed corners and good passing zones. The goal is to come away from this weekend with as many points as possible to continue our bid for the championship. It’s also Charlie’s home track which makes it extra special.

Adam Adelson // No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R

We’ve had such an amazing year so far, I think it’s safe to say that

the results have far exceeded our expectations. We’re firing on all

cylinders, the teamwork and camaraderie are incredible at Wright, and I feel like we’re getting better with each passing day. VIR is my

favorite track in North America, and I think our 991.2 GT3 R can be a real weapon around here. However, if there’s anything we’ve learned this season, it’s that the competition is stiff and many of our

competitors are working just as hard as we are, so it’s time to put

our heads down and give it our all, just as we have been since the

start of the season.

Elliott Skeer // No. 120 Porsche 911 GT3 R

Few places rival VIR for the feeling inside of the race car and having it after the Le Mans break is perfect. Adam and I have used this last month wisely and feel prepared for the weekend and the challenges we may face. Ultimately, we know Wright Motorsports is going to give us the right car for the job, and we just need to keep executing as we have been on previous weekends.

I have a lot of respect for Al Niece and the supportive partners of the team like Unishippers and Worldwide Express. It means a lot to get to represent for them as well as Chevrolet. Daly, who raced in the DAYTONA 500 this season, also has two NASCAR Cup Series starts at road courses. He raced at Circuit of the Americas earlier this season and at the Charlotte Motor Speedway road course in 2022.

In addition to his multiple Cup Series starts, Daly competed in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Road America in 2018. In Truck Series competition, Daly has two starts, both at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Between those two starts, Daly has a best finish of 18th.

The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series visits the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for the O’Reilly Auto Parts 150 on Saturday, July 8. The race will air live on FS1, The Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio at 1:30 p.m. ET.

TOYOTA QUOTES

JUSTIN ASHLEY, Phillips Connect Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, Maynard Ashley Racing

“It would mean the world to me to win the 200th race for Toyota with in the NHRA. Every race is prestigious. Every race has history, but to be able to do that for Toyota, such a prestigious organization, would really mean the world to me and our entire team.”

ANTRON BROWN, Matco Tools Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, AB Motorsports

“It would be huge if we could definitely get into the books with that 200th win for Toyota. Just for the history with how long they have been out here, and for how many years we’ve been racing with Toyota, since 2008. There is a lot of history there and I think it would be monumental to go down in the record books, being the 200th winner for Team Toyota. Toyota Racing, throughout our history, I know that we’ve had a lot of accolades and we won a lot of races together. You’re talking about over 50 wins with Toyota in Top Fuel. If we would win the 200th, I think you would put that on the mantle and put it up there amongst one of those things that you definitely can’t take away. To share that moment with all of Toyota Racing would be huge, especially for me and AB Motorsports.”

RON CAPPS, NAPA Auto Parts Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, Ron Capps Motorsports

“We had a lot of firsts last year. 2022 was just unbelievable. Getting the first win for the Supra at the Bristol race was crazy. There is such history, and when you look back at what Toyota’s done just in motorsports, and in drag racing. To watch J.R. (Todd) and Alexis (DeJoria) and what they’ve done, and to be a part of that family now. To be able to give Toyota a hallmark win like that would be epic.”

ALEXIS DEJORIA, Bandero Premium Tequila Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, DC Motorsports

“To be the 200th winner for Toyota, would be incredible, honestly. I would love to be able to do that for Toyota and our team. We are itching to get our next win, so to be able to do both would be incredible.”

DOUG KALITTA, Mac Tools Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, Kalitta Motorsports

“It would be awesome for sure. I appreciate the opportunity to be a part of Team Toyota. It would be a cool place to put my name.”

SHAWN LANGDON, Kalitta Air Bounty Hunter Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, Kalitta Motorsports

“It would mean a lot to be able to bring that home for Toyota. I’ve been a partner with Toyota for 13 years now. They’ve been there every step of the way. So having that great relationship with them, to bring something meaningful like that to them, would be a good feeling.”

STEVE TORRENCE, Capco Contractors Toyota Top Fuel Dragster, Torrence Racing

“That would be icing on the cake on an already momentous relationship with Toyota. It’s just a credential that no one else will ever have. If you are the 200th, that’s a big mark. It would be really special if we could pull it off.”

J.R. TODD, DHL Toyota GR Supra Funny Car, Kalitta Motorsports

“To be that guy, that would mean a lot. Being a part of the Toyota family – that’s exactly what it is – it’s a family. To be able to contribute just a little bit on our end at Kalitta Motorsports, that would be a pretty cool milestone.”

Algarve Pro Racing Reigns Victorious with CrowdStrike Racing at the 24 Hours of Le Mans Centenary

  • George Kurtz, Colin Braun, James Allen take dramatic victory in LMP2 Pro-Am class
  • First Le Mans wins for Kurtz and Braun
  • First-year partnership between CrowdStrike Racing and Algarve Pro Racing

LE MANS, France (June 15, 2023) – CrowdStrike Racing is a 24 Hours of Le Mans winner in its first attempt as a part of the Algarve Pro Racing (APR) team. The victory was even more memorable as it was the centenary anniversary of the Le Mans race.

Drivers George Kurtz, Colin Braun and James Allen teamed to drive the No. 45 CrowdStrike ORECA 07-Gibson prototype to a victory in the Le Mans Prototype (LMP) 2 Pro-Am category. The trio combined to complete 322 laps for 2,727.34 miles to stand on top of the podium in one of the world’s greatest auto races.

It also was the first time CrowdStrike Racing and Kurtz contested the race with a heavy level of activation behind the effort.

More than 325,000 fans witnessed this year’s Le Mans, which featured 62 entries – 24 in LMP2 alone. The No. 45 CrowdStrike ORECA began the race ninth in class and second among the Pro-Am cars.

The driving trio made it through two periods of torrential rain early in the race that sidelined a number of cars only to experience its own set of unique challenges. Things looked bleak shortly after midnight as the No. 45 ORECA was sidelined and the APR team was forced to repair a faulty accident data recorder before returning to the race. The CrowdStrike-liveried car then moved into the Pro-Am lead only to lose track time again with a punctured tire. APR ultimately reassumed the lead with nearly nine hours left. The Kurtz/Braun/Allen trio went on to win by five laps.

In addition to the success on the track, CrowdStrike Racing made an impact off it as well. CrowdStrike welcomed a number of guests during the race week, including hosting the highly exclusive CXO Summit and offering its VIPs a once-in-a-lifetime experience for many of the Le Mans’ promotional events, including hospitality at the famous Drivers Parade through the streets of Le Mans on Friday.

Held at SRO, IMSA, and Formula 1® races around the globe, the CrowdStrike CXO Summits allow CrowdStrike VIPs an opportunity to meet and discuss current trends in cloud computing and cybersecurity with industry thought. Each CXO Summit session will allow the VIP guests to learn how to best secure their businesses from breaches.

CrowdStrike Racing’s next event is at Virginia International Raceway this weekend in SRO Motorsports America competition.

Driver quotes after the 24 Hours of Le Mans

George Kurtz (No. 45 Algarve Pro Racing ORECA 07 LMP2): “To be on the top step of the podium in front of thousands of people at the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans is incredibly special. I couldn’t be happier to be here, and I’m just trying to soak it in and enjoy the victory. The rain made the race very tricky and it was critically important to not make any mistakes and look after the car. As always, Algarve Pro Racing gave us a great car and it all came together in the end. I feel really fortunate to be on the top step.”

Colin Braun (#45 Algarve Pro Racing ORECA 07 LMP2): “What a day! I’m super proud of James (Allen) and George (Kurtz) because they both drove really well, and it was a tough race with a lot of challenges. The most difficult was probably the weather; getting back to the pits on slicks when the early downpours came, and then driving on wet tires after the Safety Cars was really difficult, and it’s always important to just keep out of trouble and set a reasonable pace in such a chaotic race.

“We survived it all, which was key, and Algarve Pro Racing did a phenomenal job; we had to replace a data sensor in the middle of the night and they switched that out well, also executing perfect pit stops and a great strategy, and it’s super cool to stand on the 24 Hours of Le Mans podium. What more could you ask for?”

James Allen (#45 Algarve Pro Racing ORECA 07 LMP2): “This is the first time I’ve ever worked with George (Kurtz) and Colin (Braun), but I was really impressed with both of them when we first tested together at Monza, as they adapted well to the new aero kit and Goodyear tires on the LMP2 car. As a result, we hit the ground running and got everything sorted out quickly here at Le Mans, and it was soon our race to throw away.

“The 24 Hours of Le Mans is always a pretty special event, but particularly this year with it being the centenary. This is the third time I’ve been on the podium and the second time I’ve won, and it’s always amazing to see the entire pit straight full of people from the top step. It’s really impressive.”

CHEVROLET INDYCAR AT ROAD AMERICA: TEAM CHEVY RACE ADVANCE

CHEVROLET IN NTT INDYCAR SERIES
SONSIO GRAND PRIX AT ROAD AMERICA
PLYMOUTH, WISCONSIN
TEAM CHEVY RACE ADVANCE
JUNE 15, 2023

CHEVROLET REVS UP FOR THE SONSIO GRAND PRIX AT ROAD AMERICA

DETROIT (June 15, 2023) – The eighth round of the 2023 NTT INDYCAR Series season takes the Team Chevy drivers and teams to Plymouth, Wisconsin for this weekend’s Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America.

A 640-acre park-like road circuit deep in the heart of the Badger State, Chevrolet looks to add a fourth victory since 2012 in the V6 2.2-liter twin turbo direct injected era, capturing three wins already (2016, 2018, 2022). Entering the event weekend as defending winner and looking to go back-to-back, Team Chevy holds 11 podiums and 287 laps led since the 2016 series return to Road America.

Returning to competition this weekend with Ed Carpenter Racing in the No. 20 BITNILE.com Chevrolet, Ryan Hunter-Reay, after competing with the Bowtie brand in this year’s 107th Running of the Indianapolis 500 with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, looks ahead to getting back behind the wheel on a road course at Road America.

“This is a unique scenario where myself, coming in at this point, it gives potentially the team and myself an opportunity to come at it from a fresh perspective, looking at things a little bit differently than how they have been for the last two or three years straight. I am totally focused on getting to Road America, doing the best job I can for that group of people at Ed Carpenter Racing who I have a great relationship with, and that’s really where it is.”

“I’ve got a great relationship with Ed, but I also have had working relationships and really strong relationship currently with the team manager at Ed Carpenter, Matt Barnes, the engineer, my engineer, Pete Craig, added Hunter-Reay. “[I’ve] worked with them before. I’m in a position where I could potentially contribute to the team as a whole. Why not? What are the why nots? What are the whys? Just putting all that together, and in the end, it ended up coming down to the people.”

A fan and series-favorite alike on the INDYCAR schedule, Rob Buckner, Chevrolet Engineering Program Manager for the NTT INDYCAR Series at General Motors, also notes the technical nuances of the circuit and the racy nature of the favored venue.

“The variety of tracks that our Chevrolet-powered teams race on in the NTT INDYCAR Series is on of the main reasons the Series is so competitive and exciting,” said Buckner. “The Month of May at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway 2.5-mile oval, followed by the tight technical street course in Downtown Detroit now to the 4.08-mile Road America natural road course shows the versatility of our 2.2-liter V6 engine, and we are ready to maximize the performance at Road America.”

“The track presents a variety of engineering challenges,” he added. “It is very fast with long, wide-open straights but at end of these are hard braking zones for a number of 90-degree corners. Throw in high-speed corners like the Carousel and the Kink and a new surface that is an unknown with regard to tire wear and handling, it shapes up to be another exciting race in Wisconsin.”

The Sonsio Grand Prix at Road America kicks off with Practice 1 Friday, June 16 at 4 p.m. ET, with Practice 2 starting Saturday at 10:55 a.m. ET. Qualifications and the Firestone Fast Six also take place Saturday, starting at 1:55 p.m. ET. A final warm-up will start race day Sunday at 10:15 a.m. ET. All practice and qualifying will be live on Peacock, INDYCAR Radio and SiriusXM Channel 160. The 55-lap, 220.77-mile race Sunday, June 18 will take the green flag at 1 p.m. ET live on USA Network.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING (QUOTES):

Pato O’Ward, No. 5 Chevrolet at Arrow McLaren INDYCAR:

“After testing at Road America last week, I really loved driving the track with its new repaved surface. It is really fast, as it should be, and I’m curious to see how it races with either high or low tire degradation.”

Felix Rosenqvist, No. 6 Chevrolet at Arrow McLaren INDYCAR:

”We’re excited to be back to the most beautiful track in North America: Road America. We had a test day there last week, so I hope that will give us a little bit of an edge over our competitors. The track is newly paved, so it’s different from the past. It seems to be a lot quicker with more grip, so it creates a different challenge, and maybe it will reset the field a little bit.”

Alexander Rossi, No. 7 Chevrolet at Arrow McLaren INDYCAR:

”Road America is a place of great memories for me. Each race is a new challenge, a new opportunity, and this one is no exception. The repave has certainly changed the characteristics of the track, but we had a great test here last week and feel prepared for the weekend. This is the kind of race that can define a season, so we’re not taking anything lightly. We want to deliver a strong result for our team, our partners and, of course, the incredible fans who always show up to support us.”

Gavin Ward, Race Director at Arrow McLaren INDYCAR:

“Racing at Road America is always one of the highlights of the season with great fans and a stunning race track. It’s a classic road course that rewards bravery and punishes mistakes. The track has been freshly repaved since last year, so changes in grip, tire behavior and bumps will all be things that teams need to adapt to. All three of our drivers are in the top 10 in the points, and we’re looking to move upwards with more solid results this weekend.”

Ryan Hunter-Reay, No. 20 Chevrolet at Ed Carpenter Racing:

“I am looking forward to Road America! Obviously, it’s a tough situation, especially mid-season. A lot has happened in a short amount of time and it’s going to be a huge undertaking. I’ve been out of the car, at least in terms of turning right, for a year and a half. I have stayed current in prototypes and just came out of the Indy 500, but this will be new all-around. Even the small things I knew about Road America since I began driving there age 17, all of the little nuances are gone. It’s a new track surface, new team, new car and a new group of people to work with! I look forward to the challenge, but I am also a realist. I am approaching this from a pretty disciplined standpoint and curbing some expectations. There’s a lot to digest and consider, but we are plugging away, taking it hour by hour, day by day and looking forward to the race weekend ahead.”

Rinus VeeKay, No. 21 Chevrolet at Ed Carpenter Racing:

“Race week! I am very excited to drive the Direct Supply car, it is a really cool paint scheme and I always love to race in their colors. It’s nice to get back to Road America, it’s my favorite track. America’s National Park of Speed! Can’t wait to get there and go for a good result. I am also ready to begin learning from Ryan Hunter-Reay, my new teammate!”

Santino Ferrucci, No. 14 Chevrolet at AJ Foyt Racing:

“I think it’s a fun track, very European style, also incredibly quick and provides a lot of racing. It’s also nice that it’s a three-stop race as opposed to a typical two-stop which makes racing a little bit more fun and enjoyable for us drivers.”

Benjamin Pedersen, No. 55 Chevrolet at AJ Foyt Racing:

“Road America is such an iconic track. It’s the longest track on the schedule. The length of the track makes you feel like you are actually going somewhere during each lap. You are covering a lot of distance and ground. It just feels like a proper track instead of one that is changing each year.”

Callum Ilott, No. 77 Chevrolet at Juncos Hollinger Racing:

“We had a test at Road America last week, which was very productive. We showed good speed, especially on the new track surface. It’s a track which suited our car quite well last year, and so far continues to do the same. We are hoping for a good result this weekend to continue how we performed on the road courses last year. I’m pretty excited to be back, as it’s a great track for racing. It’s a long circuit and has a lot of history to it.”

Agustin Canapino, No. 78 Chevrolet at Juncos Hollinger Racing:

“We have Road America up next, which is one of the best tracks of the season. We come from a really good result in Detroit, so we want to continue our improvement. We will try to battle for a good result and points this weekend. Road America will be a really good opportunity for me to gain further experience as the season progresses.”

T3M has had great success at America’s National Park of Speed in previous years; the team claimed the Cooper Tires Pole Award and brought home a second place finish with INDY NXT driver Josh Green on the 4.014-mile, 14-turn road course last year and won the 2020 season opener in a dominant fashion with INDY NXT driver Danial Frost.

Turn 3 will once again run a fourth car this weekend with the addition of French Canadian driver Louka St-Jean driving the #3 Planiform / Proservin Construction car alongside teammates Michael d’Orlando, Jonathan Browne, and Jackson Lee.

Why You Need to Keep Your Fuso Trucks Maintained

The key to maintaining peak performance of Fuso trucks lies in a consistent, diligent, and comprehensive maintenance strategy. This involves a balance of proactive and preventative measures, primarily focusing on regular check-ups, adherence to the usage of quality OEM parts, and compliance with manufacturer guidelines. This type of comprehensive approach is essential to keep your Fuso truck in top-notch condition. So, let’s understand why such emphasis is put on maintenance when it comes to maintaining Fuso trucks.

The importance of routine check-ups and inspections

Scheduled maintenance is an integral part of any performance strategy for your Fuso truck. General servicing includes oil changes, tyre rotations, brake pad replacements, and other equally crucial checks required at specific intervals. Regular oil, fuel, and air filter inspections are also part of this maintenance program.

These seemingly minor checks play a major role in preventing an escalation of potential issues, helping to identify problems early on before they result in costly repairs or significant damage. By keeping up with these routine inspections and maintenance tasks, you help ensure that your Fuso truck continues to operate at its peak performance.

Maintaining quality in parts and fluids

Another aspect that directly impacts the life and performance of your Fuso truck is your choice of parts and fluids. It’s crucial to use OEM parts and high-quality fluids, as these are specifically designed to align with your truck’s unique specifications and requirements. The use of generic parts, while often seen as a cheaper option, can lead to major damages over time. These issues may manifest as performance irregularities, expensive repairs, and a shortened lifespan for your truck. The simple idea to remember here is that quality parts equate to quality performance.

Proper lubrication

Lubricants are crucial for the efficient operation of truck parts, ensuring smooth functioning and preventing wear and tear. In short, poor lubrication damages components, which can be costly and result in low performance. Therefore, using high-quality lubricants specifically designed for Fuso trucks is vital. Using the right lubricants guarantees a smooth and efficient operation and safeguards your truck from premature wear and tear, prolonging its overall lifespan.

Understanding load limits and overloading

Overloading is often an overlooked cause of truck damage. Overburdening your truck by exceeding its load capacity puts enormous strain on the engine, transmission, and other critical components. This undue stress can result in diminished performance, substantial damage, and in extreme cases, catastrophic failure. Ensuring that you always adhere to the designed load capacity of your Fuso truck is a straightforward measure for maintaining its peak performance and longevity.

Don’t forget about filter replacements

The condition of your filters directly impacts your Fuso truck’s performance. Air, fuel, and oil filters require regular check-ups and replacements as they can become clogged or worn out over time. Neglecting filter maintenance can result in decreased performance and increased fuel consumption. Regular filter changes, therefore, are a simple yet effective way to maintain peak performance in your Fuso truck.

In conclusion, maintaining the peak performance of your Fuso truck is not a one-off task but an ongoing commitment. Regular maintenance, including using quality parts and fluids, and respecting the truck’s designed limits, are the best ways to ensure continued high performance. Following these steps will ensure your truck’s safety, efficiency, and longevity and enhance your overall trucking experience.

International Union of Operating Engineers Partners with Stewart-Haas Racing

Trade Union Aligns with Driver Ryan Preece and No. 41 NASCAR Cup Series Team

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (June 14, 2023) – The International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) has partnered with Stewart-Haas Racing, with the trade union serving as the primary sponsor for two NASCAR Cup Series races with driver Ryan Preece and the No. 41 team.

The No. 41 IUOE Ford Mustang will debut during the inaugural Chicago Street Race Weekend July 1-2 in downtown Chicago. IUOE returns as a primary sponsor for the Bass Pro Shops Night Race Sept. 15-16 at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.

IUOE primarily represents operating engineers who work as heavy equipment operators, mechanics, pipeliners and surveyors in the construction industry, along with stationary engineers who work in operations and maintenance in building and industrial complexes, and in the service industries.

“We are excited to introduce more folks to the Operating Engineers through our partnership with Stewart-Haas Racing and the No. 41 team,” said IUOE General President James T. Callahan. “Our members go to work every day building and maintaining the infrastructure that keeps America moving, and we are looking for other hardworking men and women to join our team and jumpstart their career with the Operating Engineers.”

Founded in 1896, the IUOE has more than 400,000 members in 106 local unions throughout the United States and Canada. The IUOE International Training & Education Center, along with over 100 local training and apprenticeship programs, ensures that IUOE members are the safest, most productive and highly skilled craft workers in North America.

“I have a great appreciation for hard work and what it takes to put in the effort, day in and day out, to ensure the job is done right and done safely,” said Preece, a native of Berlin, Connecticut. “The IUOE helps ensure that its members are properly trained on the latest equipment and are up to date on all the right protocols to work in a safe and efficient manner.

“That’s what we do in racing. We perform at the highest level, with the highest level of safety and preparation, 38 weekends a year. There’s no room for complacency. What we do in NASCAR is what the IUOE instills in its members.”

Preece, a race winner across four NASCAR divisions – Whelen Modified Tour, ARCA Menards Series, Truck Series and Xfinity Series – saw firsthand the IUOE’s commitment to its members when he visited the IUOE International Training & Education Center in Crosby, Texas, earlier this year.

“The resources available at the International Training & Education Center were impressive,” Preece said. “The crane field alone, where they have more than 15 different cranes that allow instructors to create real-world scenarios, was larger than life. And their sim rooms were just as high-tech as the sim we use to get ready for races. They not only work on your mind at the International Training & Education Center, but your body too, with a full fitness center and complete dining facilities.

“It’s great that we can use the IUOE’s races with Stewart-Haas Racing to help tell their story and showcase all that the IUOE has to offer.”

Operating Engineer members enjoy paid, on-the-job training with free classes at over 100 local training sites and at the International Training & Education Center. The 265-acre campus near Houston is the largest and most comprehensive training facility for union operating and stationary engineers in North America. More information is available by texting “JOIN” to 41041 or at www.IUOE.org/41.
