American Association of Pet Parents Extends Partnership with Zachary Tinkle in the ARCA Menards East Series for the 2023 Season

Riverside, IL (March 14, 2023) – AmericanAssociation of Pet Parents is once again kicking in high gear to make the world a kinder, safer, more beautiful place for animals and the people who love them by extending its relationship with Zachary Tinkle and the Zachary Tinkle Foundation. Tinkle will be racing the 2023 season with Andy Hillenburg’s Fast Track Racing in the ARCA Menards East series.

AAPP and Tinkle partnered last year to support pet shelters and keep pets with their parents through their Lap 4 Love program and activations. One successful activation included making a stop with the Racing for Rescues trailer at Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter in Alabama prior to Tinkle’s race in Talladega.

CEO of AAPP, Tom Van Winkle noted, “We can’t thank Zachary, the Zachary Tinkle Foundation and the entire ZT team for their efforts in helping with our shared mission of helping animals in need. Pet’s touch the lives of people across generations, professions and hobbies, making Zachary’s dedication to keeping his fans informed about the important messages of his foundation and AAPP even more vital to making progress towards a society which values the wellbeing of all living creatures, human and non-human alike.”

In reflecting on the partnership with American Association of Pet Parents, Tinkle said, “AAPP was one of the first to support my vision with Racing for Rescues when we created the Zachary Tinkle Foundation. All of my pugs have been rescue dogs and brought so much joy and companionship to my family. I want to make sure all pets have a loving home and help support the people that adore and care for them. Economic status should not be a deterrent to families having a pet that is part of their family.”

Tinkle’s first race of the season will be held March 25, 2023, at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida in the NASCAR® owned ARCA Menards series. Prior to the race, Tinkle will be attending Global Pet Expo and is available with the American Association of Pet Parents Executives for meetings.

Cadillac aims for three-peat at Sebring

IMSA preview: Cadillac aims for three-peat at Sebring
Two Cadillac V-Series.Rs to contest 12-hour endurance race in second event of season

SEBRING, Fla. (March 14, 2023) – Cadillac will seek its third consecutive victory and fifth in the past seven years with two Cadillac V-Series.R racecars contesting the 71st Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on March 18.

The No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R, co-driven by Sebastien Bourdais, Renger van der Zande and Scott Dixon, and the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac V-Series.R with Pipo Derani, Alexander Sims and Jack Aitken sharing driving duties will make their second start in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class.

Their sister car, the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R co-driven by Earl Bamber, Alex Lynn and Richard Westbrook, will make its FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) Hypercar class debut March 17 in the 1000 Miles of Sebring.

Bamber and Lynn teamed with Neel Jani in a Cadillac DPi-V.R to lead a Cadillac sweep of the podium in the 12-hour race in 2022. Cadillac also won in 2021, 2019 and 2017 during the IMSA DPi era, including twice from the pole.

Last March, Bourdais set the qualifying lap record of 1 minute, 45.166 seconds (128.025 mph) in earning the pole.

Both entries in the GTP class tested on the bumpy 3.741-mile, 17-turn Sebring International Raceway circuit last month following a podium finish for the No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R in the season-opening Rolex 24 At Daytona.

“Cadillac Racing had a successful and insightful two days of testing at Sebring,” said Cadillac Racing controls specialist Aaron Pfeifer. “After the successful debut race of the Cadillac V-Series.R at Daytona, all groups were excited to get back to the track to continue development and improving. The day and night sessions were a beneficial step forward in preparation for the race weekend.”

Added Derani: “Excited to be going back to Sebring after two positive days of testing in February. The cars are still new but showing strong potential, especially on reliability like we saw at Daytona. It’s still early days and Sebring is another fantastic opportunity for us to continue to learn more about our racecar.”

Derani is among five drivers with three wins (and youngest) in the Twelve Hours of Sebring (2016, 2018, 2019), joining the likes of Phil Hill and Mario Andretti.

A Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing will be the pace car/safety car. The race weekend marks the kickoff of the 20th anniversary of the Cadillac V-Series performance vehicle lineup. The CT5-V Blackwing is a Car and Driver 10Best again for 2023: “…the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing is the greatest sports sedan on sale today, if not of all time.”

Peacock will stream flag-to-flag coverage of the race starting at 10:05 a.m. ET Saturday. USA will telecast the track action from 4:30-10:30 p.m. ET. IMSA Radio will air all on-track sessions at IMSA.com along with Sirius 216, XM 207 and SiriusXM Online 992 and 100.9 FM at the circuit.

See the exciting Cadillac V-Series lineup

Spectators can view the Cadillac V-Series performance vehicle portfolio at the Cadillac display in the midway, including the Escalade-V, CT5-V Blackwing and the CT4-V Blackwing. Hours are 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday.

Additionally, the 2023 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing Sebring IMSA Track Edition, with a special matte black paint in honor of the 12-hour race and a symbol of racing in the dark — along with other features — will be on display in the Cadillac Corral.

Spectators will also have the opportunity to participate in a Cadillac ride and drive program Thursday-Saturday with the exciting performance vehicle lineup at the track.

What the Cadillac V-Series.R drivers are saying

Sebastien Bourdais, No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R: “Sebring is a huge event on the calendar and an important race for everybody, and particularly for Cadillac. We definitely didn’t have a dream start to the season in Daytona, but a far better start than we had last year and a competitive car. I think there’s definitely room for improvement. It’s going to be a grueling Sebring 12 hours and it’s a track that I very much like. I’ve won there a couple of times and it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do that again. Looking forward to take the GTP Cadillac on the track and correct what happened last year after being on pole and then not being able to contend. We had a good test, so hopefully we’re in good shape and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Renger van der Zande, No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R: “Sebring is a big one for me, personally, as I think it’s some of the best racing you can find with how competitive it is, and how much of a battle it is to stay in the race, as well. With the bumpy track, it can really wear the car down. We’ve had a good start to the season and we’re still hoping that the car is reliable, as it was in Daytona, and we can find our way to Victory Lane.”

Scott Dixon, No. 01 Cadillac V-Series.R: “I’m looking forward to Sebring, where Cadillac has had quite a bit of success. It’s a race that I haven’t won; have come close a few times. With how Daytona went, I think the big surprise was how well all the GTP cars went. I think it will be an interesting weekend from a manufacturers’ standpoint to have both WEC and IMSA to see the performances and give us an idea of maybe where Le Mans will go as well. Always a fun race, a tough race especially with the bumps of the track and reliability, and then the craziness of when it gets dark. There always seems to be a yellow or two within the last hour and a half that kind of determines the outcome of the race. I think the team is doing a great job, especially at the last test, and we’re going there for the win.”

Pipo Derani, No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac V-Series.R: “Excited to be going back to Sebring after two positive days of testing in February. The cars are still new but showing strong potential, especially on reliability like we saw at Daytona. It’s still early days and Sebring is another fantastic opportunity for us to continue to learn more about our racecar and, as usual, with Sebring being a very difficult race on man and machine, it will be another great challenge for us to go through before Le Mans. On a personal note, of course I would love to win my fourth Sebring but a race win at the 12 Hours is never an easy thing to achieve. Hard work and resilience will be key to get to the end with a chance of victory.”

Alexander Sims, No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac V-Series.R: “We enjoyed a productive two-day test where we learned more about some aspects of the car’s performance. We are learning so much every time we are out on track, so I hope we can use the test sessions to get tuned in to the conditions on the race weekend which, with the WEC cars and other support races present, might be different again. The team is doing a great job as always and working very hard to keep improving things. The work has not stopped for them since Daytona and I’m grateful for all the hours that they’re putting in. Being able to drive with Pipo and Jack, it gives me great confidence that we can have a strong race and focus on being in the fight at the end. It’ll be an exciting race I’m sure and a great weekend of racing for all.”

Jack Aitken, No. 31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac V-Series.R: “The two-day test we had last month gave us the opportunity to keep dialing in our processes and, of course, the car itself. It’s a unique track because of how bumpy it is, but I loved it on my first time around. It has a nice flow and really forces the driver to be super precise. I think we made a huge amount of progress in the test and have even more improvements in the pipeline for the race itself, so I’m looking forward to it.”

Remembering the Last Time Fernando Alonso Was In Championship Contention

The 2023 Formula One season got underway on March 5th, with the annual curtain raiser taking place in Bahrain. The race weekend was dominated by Red Bull and their reigning back-to-back world champion Max Verstappen secured pole position on Saturday before romping to race victory on Sunday. His teammate Sergio Perez finished the race in second place, and another dominant season for Christian Horner’s team could be on the horizon.

But one thing that fans the world over were delighted to see was the return of Fernando Alonso to the front of the pack. The 42-year-old two-time world champion is the oldest driver on the grid this season, but he is beloved by many despite his villainous persona. The Spaniard secured third place and a spot on the podium for Aston Martin, the team he joined in the postseason following an acrimonious departure from Alpine.

Alonso is finally in a competitive car for the first time in over a decade. He will need a stroke of luck akin to something one would find at SlotsLV online casino if he is to compete for the championship this season. But fans can dream of Alonso rolling back the years, rolling them all the way back to 2012…

Seven Different Winners In The First Seven Races

Heading into the 2012 season, Formula One had a dominant champion, just as it has in 2023. He also drove a Red Bull and went by the name of Sebastian Vettel. The German sensation had picked up the last three world championships, and his performances throughout the 2011 campaign were unlike anything we had seen before.

The Heppenheim-born driver picked up 11 victories throughout the course of the season. He finished a whopping 122 points ahead of championship runner-up Jenson Button and his dominance seemingly knew no end. But as the 2012 season got underway, fans were in for a refreshing treat.

The previous year’s runner-up Button secured victory in the opening race of the season in Melbourne, Australia, with Vettel finishing in second. In Malaysia a week later, Fernando Alonso picked up the victory despite being in a car that was seriously inferior to the grid-leading McLarens and Red Bulls. Three weeks later in China, there was another different victor as Nico Rosberg picked up his maiden victory.

The surprises would continue in round four, and this time it was reigning champion Vettel who finally got his season up and running with victory in Bahrain. Round five threw up an almighty shock as Venezuelan upstart Pastor Maldonado picked up victory for Williams, the team’s first win since Juan Pablo Montoya won at Interlagos in 2004.

As the weeks progressed, the title fight continued to feature a number of protagonists. Mark Webber, Vettel’s teammate at Red Bull, won the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix while 2008 world champion Lewis Hamilton would win in Monreal for the third time in the last five editions of the Canadian Grand Prix. But two drivers would distance themselves from the pack throughout the middle of the season.

Vettel Vs Alonso

Victory from 11th on the grid on home turf in Valencia for Alonso was met with jubilant scenes in the grandstands. The race coincided with Spain’s run to glory in football’s 2012 European Championship, and with Vettel’s retirement in the same race, the Spanish driver catapulted to the top of the driver’s championship standings. He would win again a month later in Germany further strengthening his position at the top of the standings.

That was Alonso’s final victory of the season, but a series of podiums in the campaign’s latter stages allowed him to remain in contention. The problem for the 2005 and 2006 double world champion was that while he was picking up podiums, Sebastian Vettel was reeling off victory after victory. His Red Bull was far superior to Alonso’s Ferrari, and that began to show in the latter stages of the season.

Four consecutive victories for Vettel in Singapore, Japan, South Korea, and India, followed by third place in Abu Dhabi and second place in the United States returned him to the top of the championship ahead of the final showdown in Brazil. But Alonso was still in contention.

The Championship Showdown In Brazil

To secure his third consecutive championship win, Vettel had to finish fourth or higher when he arrived at Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace in Sao Paulo for the final race of the campaign. After a tight battle with Raikkonen during qualifying, the championship leader secured himself second place on starting grid with Alonso down in fifth. What followed was one of the most intense and thrilling races either driver had ever participated in.

Vettel would spin on the first lap, dropping all the way down to last place. Alonso meanwhile battled up to second and into a championship-winning position. But a heroic drive and a number of safety cars saw Vettel battle his way back up to sixth place. With the race coming to its conclusion it was clear that Red Bull’s main man was on course to become a triple world champion and that is exactly what transpired, with Alonso wondering what might have been, finishing just three points behind the eventual championship winner.

The facility features a 0.533-mile concrete oval race track with 28-degree corner banking and 650-feet straightaways that offers racing in several NASCAR touring series, highlighted by two major Cup Series weekends each year. In 2020, the track also served as host of the prestigious NASCAR All-Star Race, and in 2021 began converting to a temporary dirt track each spring to take the Cup Series back to its racing roots. While at the track, fans are offered a unique viewing experience courtesy of Colossus TV, the world’s largest outdoor center-hung four-sided video screen with a 540,000-watt audio system. The adjacent quarter-mile dragstrip, Bristol Dragway, offers more than 50 events annually, including the marquee NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals. The Thunder Valley Amphitheatre presented by Ballad Health transforms Bristol Dragway into a premier outdoor concert venue for the world’s greatest music performers. Three football games have kicked-off inside the oval, most notably the 2016 Pilot Flying J Battle at Bristol, where border rivals the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech met before an NCAA-record crowd of 156,990. In existence since 1961, Bristol Motor Speedway was purchased in 1996 by Speedway Motorsports, a leading marketer and promoter of motorsports entertainment in the United States.

Jr III Racing Kicks Off IMSA WeatherTech Season at Sebring

Sebring, Fla. (13 March 2023) – Jr III (“Junior-Three”) Racing will head to Sebring International Raceway for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring to kick off its 2023 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship campaign this weekend. The visit to the Florida track marks the second of two back-to-back IMSA event weekends for the Charlotte-based squad.

Piloting the No. 30 Airbnb Ligier JS P320 will be Jr III Racing regulars Ari Balogh and Garett Grist; Dakota Dickerson will complete the lineup for the second consecutive year.

The 2022 season marked Jr III Racing’s first IMSA WeatherTech championship campaign, and the team and drivers showed that they were well prepared for the challenge. Jr III Racing ended the season with four podium finishes, helping pave the path to finishing third in the championship point standings. Jr III Racing started its IMSA program in Prototype Challenge in 2019, growing its competitive presence in that paddock and then building on that program with a WeatherTech effort starting in 2022.

The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours weekend will mark Jr III Racing’s second WeatherTech start at the former Florida airfield. Last season, the trio of Balogh, Grist, and Dickerson teamed up to score a runner-up finish.

“We had a great race last year at Sebring, and I think we can do it again this year,” said Dickerson. “I enjoy racing with Ari (Balogh) and Garett (Grist) and honestly the whole Jr III Racing crew. This team is a family, and it’s great to be a part of it. Sebring can be a tough track, but I don’t doubt that we can get back on the podium.”

The Sebring event weekend will include the World Endurance Championship 1000 Miles of Sebring on Friday, followed by the marquee event on Saturday, March 18th, with IMSA’s Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring.

“We are ready to be back at the track,” said Grist. “We have been lucky to have some time testing at Sebring before the Twelve Hour. It seems like it has been such a long off-season since we didn’t compete in Daytona for the 24 Hour, but I think that time has been used to our advantage because we’ve had more time to prepare for the season ahead. We’ve made many improvements during the offseason, and I can’t wait to see how the season plays out.”

Catch live coverage of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring on Peacock TV starting at 10 am ET on Saturday, March 18th. Continuing coverage of all twelve hours will be on Peacock, with the final six hours also being covered on USA Network starting at 4:30 pm ET.

Gary Martin Hays & Associates Backs Gilliland at Atlanta

Brings Safety Message to NASCAR Fans

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (March 13, 2023) – Front Row Motorsports (FRM) and Gary Martin Hays & Associates, one of Georgia’s top personal injury law firms, announced today a partnership with Todd Gilliland and the No. 38 Ford Mustang team. Gary Martin Hays & Associates will be the primary partner of Gilliland for the Ambetter Health 400 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway this weekend.

The partnership is highlighted by a Gary Martin Hays & Associates design on the No. 38 Ford Mustang and a safety message for Georgia motorists that Gilliland will promote through his social media channels and other media. This is the company’s first partnership in the NASCAR Cup Series and are proud to do so with a third-generation family driver.

Gary Martin Hays & Associates has been impressed with Gilliland’s success in his career in such a short time. Hays knows that Gilliland will be able to compete for the win at the now unpredictable Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“My law firm is excited to partner with Todd and his team for this pivotal event at the Atlanta Motor Speedway,” said lead attorney Gary Martin Hays. “The new racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway has proved that anything can happen. We believe in Todd and his capability to win.

“We also want to use the partnership to promote safety behind the wheel. Our goal is to bring three major lessons learned in NASCAR to motorists in Georgia. One, don’t speed — leave that to the professionals on the racetrack; two, don’t text and drive; and three, check your car’s tires often. It’s simple, but it can save lives. We hope for a safe, fun, and exciting race weekend in Atlanta.”

Gilliland is eager to return to Atlanta with the new partnership.

“The new Atlanta Motor Speedway has become one of the most exciting races on our schedule,” said Gilliland. “It’s awesome to have Gary Martin Hays & Associates on the car this weekend and it’s cool they are helping to spread a safety message to motorists. It’s always good to get reminders or think about driving safely when you’re on the road. This is a good program for everyone.”

The Ambetter Health 400 is scheduled for this Sunday, March 19 with live coverage on FOX, the Performance Racing Network, and Sirius/XM NASCAR radio at 3:00 p.m. ET.
