What Causes a Truck Rollover Accident?

It’s frightening to think that, as recently as 2020, 50% of large truck occupant deaths occurred when their vehicles rolled over. Of course, when a truck rolls over it could also put others at risk.

But what are some of the common causes of a truck rollover accident? If you aren’t aware of the main culprits, this could increase your chances of your truck rolling over with potentially disastrous consequences. While it’s important to always be alert for any risks when driving, here are 4 possible truck rollover accident sources to look out for.

Keep reading to learn more.

System Failures

You don’t expect it to happen, but your vehicle’s braking or steering systems could fail, leaving you with little or no control. Even if you are traveling at a reduced speed, you could veer off the road or hit a barrier, overturning your truck in the process.

To reduce the risk of a system failure, take the time to check your vehicle’s parts for signs of wear and tear. It’s also essential to have your truck serviced on a regular basis.

Tire Blowouts

If tires are underinflated or worn out, they could blow out while you’re driving. You may be able to bring your truck to a safe stop, but it’s also possible you’ll lose control and your vehicle could roll over. This could be especially scary if you’re traveling at a high speed when the blowout occurs.

Performing a tire check before you set off on a journey can help you identify if they’re in good condition.

Incorrectly Loaded Cargo

If you see an overturned truck, the cause may be poorly loaded cargo. An experienced legal professional like Pius Joseph Truck Accident Lawyer can explain how the smallest imbalance can cause a trailer to flip over.

For example, if heavy goods are stacked on one side of the vehicle, the truck’s handling could be affected. In addition, if cargo is not secure, it could move around while the vehicle is in motion, contributing to a rollover accident.

Driver Error

Unfortunately, many truck crashes are caused by drivers making avoidable mistakes. This could include a driver using their mobile phone while driving, being on the road while overly tired, or trying to eat and drive at the same time.

It’s good to have legal support in these situations like truck accident lawyers in Miami, FL, who can help you get the compensation you deserve. When it comes to truck rollover accidents, prevention is always better than cure.

These behaviors could lead to a driver having an accident with another road user, resulting in injury or worse. If you’ve been in a collision with a truck driver, you may be interested in hiring truck accident attorney details

Reduce Your Risk of Having a Truck Rollover Accident

A truck rollover accident can pose a severe risk to life and property, and you’ll want to take every possible precaution. It’s crucial to always keep your vehicle in roadworthy condition and to ensure your cargo is secure. You should also check your tires regularly, and ensure you drive in a responsible manner.

This could help you avoid having a serious rollover accident in your truck.

Elton Sawyer Named NASCAR Sr. Vice President of Competition

Miller Named Competition Strategist After More Than 40 Years In Motorsports – Probst Promoted to Chief Racing Development Officer – Jacuzzi, Patalak, Thomas Promoted to Vice President

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 18, 2023) – NASCAR today announced that Elton Sawyer has been named its Senior Vice President of Competition, replacing Scott Miller, who will assume the newly formed role of Competition Strategist within the NASCAR Competition team after a more than 40-year career in motorsports.

NASCAR also announced the promotions of several individuals to key positions within its Competition leadership team. John Probst has been promoted to NASCAR Chief Racing Development Officer; Dr. Eric Jacuzzi has been promoted to NASCAR Vice President, Vehicle Performance; Dr. John Patalak has been promoted to NASCAR Vice President, Safety Engineering; and Brandon Thomas has been promoted to NASCAR Vice President, Vehicle Design.

“Elton Sawyer has shown incredible versatility throughout his four-plus decades in motorsports,” said Steve O’Donnell, NASCAR Chief Operating Officer. “Following his lengthy driving career, Elton held key leadership positions for several race teams and here at NASCAR for the last eight seasons. He will excel in this role, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow the Competition team during this crucial era in our sport’s history.

“We are thrilled that Scott Miller has chosen to remain a key part of the NASCAR Competition team. When he joined NASCAR in 2016, Scott lent immediate credibility to the position. A trusted voice in the garage, Scott used his decades of experience to lead our Competition team to new heights during a time that saw a new race format, a new playoff format and a new race car. The mark he leaves on the organization is significant.

“John Probst’s leadership and tireless devotion in the development of the Next Gen car over the last three years has been extraordinary. This project was among the most challenging and important endeavors in NASCAR history, and leaders like Probst, Dr. Eric Jacuzzi, Dr. John Patalak, Brandon Thomas and many others worked incredibly hard to not only put this car on the race track, but to make it a success for our industry and our fans.”

Sawyer joined NASCAR in February of 2015 as managing director of the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series. Most recently, he held the role of NASCAR vice president, technical inspection and officiating, a role he assumed in 2016. In that capacity, Sawyer oversaw race event management, transportation and NASCAR official training and development.

In his new role, Sawyer will oversee all aspects of on-track competition, inspection, rule development and officiating, focusing specifically on NASCAR’s three national series – the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.

“I have been a proud member of this extraordinary team for eight years, and I look forward to continuing to help grow the outstanding competition we’ve seen over the last several seasons,” Sawyer said. “NASCAR racing has been my life for decades. I have a deep passion for the sport, and am honored to be in a position to help shepherd the Competition team during these exciting times.”

Sawyer began his racing career competing at Langley Speedway in his home state of Virginia. He debuted on the NASCAR national series scene in 1983, racing in what is now the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Prior to joining NASCAR, Sawyer served as Director of Team Operations for IMSA’s Action Express Racing. He has also previously held competition roles at Red Bull Racing and Evernham Motorsports.

Miller has decided to step down from his post after seven seasons leading NASCAR’s at-track competition team, an era that included transformative growth and some of the strongest competition in the sport’s history.

“After more than 40 years around race cars week after week, it’s time to step back and look at the next chapter of my life in motorsports,” Miller said. “I’m thankful to the France Family and everyone at NASCAR for the opportunity they gave me seven years ago, and I appreciate the chance to stay in the fold to help however and wherever I can. We have a strong team at NASCAR, and I’m excited to remain a part of it.”

Joining NASCAR in December of 2015, Miller will remain with the sanctioning body as its Competition Strategist. In this capacity, Miller’s focus will center on a several ‘big picture’ special projects such as the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum, the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway and the Chicago Street Course race, as well as long-lead planning around NASCAR Competition strategy.

Probst, who most recently held the title of Senior Vice President of Racing Innovation, oversaw the development and evolution of the Next Gen race car, a groundbreaking innovation that produced several on-track competition superlatives – including a record-tying 19 different race winners during its debut season. Probst joined NASCAR in 2016, providing senior oversight of an engineering group that develops and incorporates new technology into all aspects of NASCAR competition. Prior to NASCAR, Probst spent 10 years as the Technical Director for both Chip Ganassi Racing (2011-16) and Red Bull Racing (2006-11). Probst began his career as an engineer for Ford Motor Company in 1994.

Jacuzzi, who manages aerodynamic engineering for NASCAR, joined the sanctioning body after working as a computational aerodynamicist for Corvid Technologies and assigned to Richard Childress Racing. Since joining NASCAR in 2014, Jacuzzi has led the team tasked to design the aerodynamic elements of the race vehicles for all three national series – including the Next Gen car – as well as the Garage 56 car scheduled to run in the 2023 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Patalak, who has worked at the NASCAR R&D Center since 2005, oversees NASCAR’s safety team, researching, developing and approving driver and vehicle safety systems. In this role, Patalak also investigates all crashes and driver protection issues. Prior to NASCAR John worked for an engineering consulting firm specializing in vehicle crashworthiness and occupant protection.

Thomas joined NASCAR in 2019 following time as a crew chief and engineer with Richard Childress Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, Petty Enterprises, Red Bull Racing and Hall of Fame Racing. Brought to NASCAR to help shepherd the Next Gen project, Thomas led the day-to-day management of the Next Gen car since the beginning of the development cycle in 2019.

New Driver, New Series as Jr III Racing Sets Sights on Daytona

Continues LMP3 program as VP Racing SportsCar Challenge debuts this weekend

Daytona, Fla. (18 January 2023) – Jr III (“Junior Three”) Racing will open the 2023 season being a part of history as the team is set to compete in the all-new VP Racing SportsCar Challenge (VPSC) during the Roar Before the 24 weekend at Daytona International Speedway. The inaugural event weekend is the first for the new IMSA championship, which features a 45 minute sprint format with two classes: LMP3 prototype machines as well as GT4 entries, known as the GSX class in VPSC.

Jr III Is looking forward to its first outing with new driver Bijoy Garg, who will be making his sports car debut in the No. 3 S2 Cyber Ligier JS P320. The team has a well-established record of success with the Ligier LMP3 platform, having competed in both the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship as well as the now-defunct Prototype Challenge.

The Daytona event will see Garg look to learn quickly as the rapid fire weekend builds to a double header with a pair of thirty-minute practice sessions, a quick fifteen-minute qualifying round, and then two 45-minute races. Garg has experience with the high-intensity schedule, having competed in the USF 2000 ranks ahead of his sports car debut.

“I am excited to see how the format works,” said Billy Glavin III, owner of Jr III Racing. “We have never run a sprint race in an LMP3, so it will be interesting to see how it works without pit stops and a longer race to settle into. Operating from the hot side of the pit wall will be a new experience. I am interested to see how it all works and what the field is like.”

The weekend will mark several firsts for Garg as he embarks on his IMSA debut.

“Bijoy has never been to Daytona or raced an LMP3, so he will have many new experiences, but we are excited about the potential,” continued Glavin. “He is excited about stepping into sports car racing for the first time, and we are excited to have him behind the wheel. There are a lot of unknowns so I think everyone is excited to get down there and see what the VP Racing Challenge series is like.”

With the added complexity that a multi-class race format brings, the VPSC debut weekend will be a learning one for everyone as the championship opens with the Daytona doubleheader.

“One of the biggest challenges going from IPC to VPSC will be how the new format works and managing traffic on the track,” said Glavin. “Mixing in the GT4s with the LMP3s should not be an issue for the first half of the race, but eventually, the LMP3s will catch the GT4s and getting through the field cleanly will be a challenge. Some of the LMP3 drivers are known to us from IPC and WeatherTech, but there are a lot of new drivers in the field, including Bijoy, so it will be challenging to learn how to race each of them.”

The season-opening IMSA event will kick off a big season for Jr III Racing, which is set for a return to WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition as the team builds on a strong rookie season in the top-level category in 2022. With a returning driver line up of Garett Grist and Ari Balogh, the team is well placed to continue to generate results that match the level of preparation from the team. The Jr III WeatherTech effort will kick off at Sebring International Raceway for the 12 Hour on March 15-18.

The season opener at Daytona will begin with two practices on Friday, January 20th. The green flag for race one will drop on Saturday afternoon (2:05 PM EST), followed by the second race on Sunday (12:20 PM EST). Both races will have live coverage on Peacock TV.

IPC Highlights

Jr III Racing started IMSA program in 2019, Kris Wilson won the Bronze Cup at Road Atlanta

2020 Jr III Racing competed in five IPC events with a highest finish of 5th

Between December 15, 2022, and February 12, 2023, women can sign up to race in the tournament, with the chance to participate in real life at the grand finale show in Las Vegas on March 4, 2023, during the weekend of the Pennzoil 400. The tournament is split into three separate phases, giving racers an opportunity to take part in some friendly competition.

Phase 1 began on December 15, 2022 with an asynchronous digital competition where sim racers can compete in Time Attack via iRacing. Registered participants will be able to spin as many laps as they can within a given timeframe, racing virtually on the Las Vegas Motor Speedway circuit in the Ford Next Gen NASCAR vehicle. Phase 1 will conclude on February 12, 2023, and the top 20 finalists will be chosen. Of the 20 finalists, 15 will be drivers that have the fastest lap time and highest social reach, with an additional 5 social media influencers.

The 20 finalists will then meet in Las Vegas for Phase 2, which is an in-person battle taking place on March 4, 2023. In this round, drivers will compete in Next Level Racing cockpit simulators while receiving coaching tips from KellyMoss Road and Race racer, Sabré Cook. Fans will be able to tune into the event live via stream on March 4 via Twitch, YouTube, and ESTV.

The winner will be announced on March 6, 2023 during Phase 3. The grand prize for the winning driver is $15,000 cash, a racing simulator, and a real-life track event with the KellyMoss Porsche race team. Throughout the competition, prizes will also be available to participants, including a trip to the live show in Las Vegas, an AMA (Ask Me Anything) with a professional female racer, gaming equipment, and much more.

Ryan Vargas has a new team and new series to call home for this upcoming season after it was announced that he will be campaigning on a part-time basis for On Point Motorsports for the 2023 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season.

The 22-year-old Vargas from La Mirada, California, will make his inaugural presence in the Truck circuit at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 18, where he will be piloting the No. 30 On Point Motorsports Toyota Tundra TRD Pro. He will then compete at Darlington Raceway (May 12), Nashville Superspeedway (June 23), Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (July 8), Richmond Raceway (July 29), Talladega Superspeedway (September 30) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (October 21).

The news comes as Vargas is coming off his fourth part-time campaign in the Xfinity Series, where he notched a career-best sixth-place result at Daytona International Speedway in August. Competing in 26 of 33-scheduled Xfinity events, he notched an average-finishing result of 25.4 before settling in 26th place in the final driver’s standings.

In 67 career starts in the Xfinity Series, Vargas has accumulated a total of two top-10 results, four laps led and an average-finishing result of 25.7. Prior to the Xfinity Series, he competed in the 2018 ARCA Menards Series East season with Rev Racing, where he notched six top-10 results before finishing in sixth place in the final standings. The Californian is also a two-time recipient of the Wendell Scott Trailblazer Award.

“I’m beyond thrilled to join On-Point Motorsports for the 2023 Season,” Vargas said. “I told myself heading into this offseason that it was time for a change. I knew that I was ready to take on a new challenge. Having never made a truck series start, I really felt that this year was the perfect time for me to make the move into a competitive Truck Series entry. There’s no denying what Bones and his team have done are nothing short of impressive. With a bunch of top-10 finishes and opportunities to make it to victory lane, I knew I had found myself a fantastic new home.”

In addition, Vargas will be receiving sponsorship support from Critical Path Security, Léargas Security, Swann Security, and Williamsburg Contracting throughout this season.

“Although I won’t be running the full schedule, I’m excited to engrain myself within the organization and work hands on with the development of my teammates and the truck’s on-track performance,” Vargas added, “Thank you to all my fans and followers for continuing to believe in me. I’m truly blessed and I really look forward to competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series in 2023!”

For this upcoming season, Vargas will become the 13th different competitor to compete for On Point Motorsports. The team’s No. 30 entry finished in 24th place in the 2022 Truck owner’s standings while being piloted by sixth different competitors. Their best result during the previous season included a 12th-place run at Las Vegas with Tate Fogleman followed by a 13th-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway with Kaden Honeycutt.

Vargas’ first Truck Series career start of the season is set to occur at Atlanta Motor Speedway on March 18. The event’s coverage is scheduled to occur at 2 p.m. ET on FS1.

Ryan Raddon, known as Kaskade, is a household name in electronic music with many impressive firsts credited to his name. He was the first solo electronic dance artist to sell out both Navy Pier in Chicago (his hometown) and the Staples Center in Los Angeles (his home now). Kaskade was also the first DJ to secure a Las Vegas residency, creating the landscape for the city’s future entertainment structure. He was the first electronic artist to headline Coachella. In July 2021, Kaskade came out of quarantine swinging as the first ever solo headlining musician to sell out and perform for a public event at LA’s SoFi Stadium.

This will be Kaskade’s second performance in the Snake Pit, as he also provided the Snake Pit’s soundtrack during the 99th Indianapolis 500 in 2015.

Kaskade has recorded 12 studio albums and received seven Grammy nominations. With collaborations under his belt with heavy hitters Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, Gwen Stefani and Meghan Trainor, he has the unique talent of creating his signature sound in any genre. Most recently Kaskade has teamed up with fellow producer and Snake Pit artist deadmau5 to form Kx5. Their debut single “Escape” has cracked the Top 40 and soared to the No. 1 Dance single on Mediabase charts.

Jesse Kardon, known as Subtronics, fuses his unique blend of cutting-edge sound design with hard-hitting bass to push the envelope with sound engineering.

In January 2022, Subtronics dropped his debut album “FRACTALS,” which charted at No. 4 on the Billboard Dance album chart and had a dedicated billboard in Times Square in New York. The album coincided with his massive 50-plus date, sellout national headline bus tour, the FRACTAL Tour, which featured state-of-the-art production and visuals. The tour traveled with a custom-built stage, including a floating DJ table within a reflective black hole dubbed The Wormhole.

Subtronics dropped his “ANTIFRACTAL” album in December 2022, featuring exclusive VIPs and remixes from himself and heavyweights including Virtual Riot, Wooli, Peekaboo, A Hundred Drums and more. He is gearing up for his 2023 ANTIFRACTUAL headline tour, which is a first of its kind touring deal across Live Nation, Insomniac Events and C3, along with their international properties.

Hailing from a city steeped in house culture, Chicago’s John Summit has quickly become one of the hottest names in dance music worldwide. His feel-good floor-fillers take the pumping grooves of his hometown’s classic house music, add a healthy dose of melody and top it off with 2020s studio polish.

Summit’s prolific output has resulted in the accumulation of 5 million monthly Spotify listeners, the top-selling artist across all genres on Beatport in 2021 and a No. 1 track on U.S. dance radio with his record “Human.” In 2022, he toured across the globe with key festival plays at Coachella, Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, Bonnaroo, Parklife and more. With the announcement of his new label/event brand Off The Grid, Summit is displaying no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

O’Neal is one of the most dominant basketball players in NBA history and is also one of the greatest entertainers on Earth as DJ Diesel. At 7-foot-1 and 325 pounds, Shaq’s larger-than-life personality and powerful athleticism have resulted in worldwide admiration and one of the most passionate fan bases in sports and entertainment. The Hall of Famer first discovered electronic dance music after crashing the festival TomorrowWorld in 2014, a milestone event that changed his life forever after being exposed to DJs such as Steve Aoki and Skrillex. He made his performance debut at the same festival a year later.

DJ Diesel has been passionate about music from a very young age. At just 14 after O’Neal saw Public Enemy live for the first time, while sandwiched in a crowd of 5,000 people, he became fixated on DJing. He cut his neighbors’ grass, walked dogs and scraped together any cash he could until he saved up $200 to buy his first set of turntables at a local pawn shop. Fast forward to 1993, O’Neal’s rap album, “Shaq Diesel,” did the unthinkable of selling over a million copies and peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard 100, cementing him as the only athlete ever with a platinum-selling album.

Jauz, the project of Sam Vogel, a 26-year-old Los Angeles-based icon collective graduate, combines brilliant production, energetic sets and underground vibes that have captivated the hearts of the dance community. Jauz’s release of the addictive mid-tempo original “Feel the Volume” earned him international recognition after its release. Gaining support early on from industry heavyweights like Zedd, Skrillex, Diplo and others, Jauz quickly became included on every major festival lineup. His euphoric originals and viral remixes seamlessly weave in and out of several musical categories.

Jauz has boasted two sell-out tours – “The Friendzy Tour” in 2016 and “The Bite America! Tour” in 2018 to launch his artist label “Bite This!” in 55 different cities across the U.S. and Canada. All while also releasing his debut album “The Wise & The Wicked” that reached No. 1 on the dance charts in under two hours and earned over 20 million streams in less than three weeks from its release.

Tickets for the 107th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Sunday, May 28 and the GMR Grand Prix on Saturday, May 13 are available at www.ims.com.
