CORVETTE RACING AT VIR: A GT-Only Challenge

Corvette Z06 GT3.R teams looking for additional successes at VIR

DETROIT (August 20, 2025) – Corvette Racing’s four Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R teams get the chance to take center stage this weekend during the only GT-only weekend for the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

The Michelin GT Challenge at VIR – Virginia International Raceway – comes at a pivotal time of the season for the Corvette Racing program. With cars in both GT classes – GTD PRO and GTD – there is plenty to think about ahead of the year’s final IMSA sprint race.

That’s especially true in GTD PRO as Chevrolet leads the Manufacturers Championship standings with three rounds to go. The program is in a good spot in the Drivers and Teams title races, as well, with the two Corvette GTD squads having plenty to race for in their class.

Corvette Racing has been a force at VIR over the years. The program has eight victories there – six in IMSA by the Corvette Racing factory team and two more in GT World Challenge America competition by DXDT Racing.

Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports (GTD PRO)

· No. 3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Antonio Garcia/Alexander Sims

· No. 4 Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Tommy Milner/Nicky Catsburg

With three rounds to go, Garcia and Sims continue to lead the GTD PRO Drivers Championship, as does the No. 3 Pratt Miller squad in the Teams standings. Both the No. 3 and No. 4 Corvettes have come on strong the last three races with racing luck going against each entry.

The pair of Pratt Miller Z06 GT3.Rs led early at Road America before being spun less than a minute apart while running up front. Despite that heartbreak, the potential for a breakthrough GTD PRO victory has been evident throughout the year with five podiums between the two entries.

A trip to VIR could be just what the doctor ordered. Corvette Racing’s factory team – run by Pratt Miller – claimed six victories at VIR since 2012. Garcia was part of four of those wins and Milner has two in Corvette Racing entries… plus a pair a year ago in GT World Challenge America competition.

AWA (GTD)

· No. 13 Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Matt Bell, Orey Fidani

Bell and Fidani hope to improve on last year’s sixth-place class finish VIR in AWA’s No. 13 Corvette. At Road America three weeks ago, the duo was in contention late but suffered significant contact that prevented a challenge for the team’s second win of the season.

The goal for VIR is for Fidani and Bell – a past prototype winner at VIR – to continue running toward the front in hopes of not just a podium finish but also another win in the chase for a repeat IMSA Akin Award. The AWA Corvette was the highest finishing GTD entry with a Bronze-rated driver at Road America, and another similar result will go a long way toward Fidani repeating at Akin Award winner and AWA returning next year to the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

DXDT Racing (GTD)

· No. 36 Corvette Z06 GT3.R: Alec Udell, Robert Wickens

DXDT’s No. 36 Corvette has been knocking on the door of a podium finish all season. Wickens and Udell led late at Road America before multiple rounds of contact knocked the Corvette from the lead in the final minutes. Qualifying up front has been the norm for the DXDT Corvette with second-row starts in the last four races.

Wickens has placed second and third the last two years at VIR in the Michelin Pilot Challenge’s TCR class. Meanwhile, Udell is a two-time winner at VIR in the Corvette Z06 GT3.R as he was Milner’s teammate in last year’s sweep in GT World Challenge America’s Pro class in a DXDT Corvette.

The Michelin GT Challenge at VIR is scheduled for 2:10 p.m. ET on Sunday, August 24. The race will air live on USA Network starting at 2 p.m. Live streaming on Peacock in the United States and IMSA.com outside the U.S. from 2 to 5 p.m. ET IMSA Radio will provide the audio call at IMSA.com, XM 206 and SiriusXM Online 996.

CORVETTE RACING BY PRATT MILLER MOTORSPORTS PRE-EVENT DRIVER QUOTES

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I obviously would like to win again at VIR, as we have as a team six times and myself four times. Our Corvettes have been very good there regardless of car or category. Being able to win that race this season would put us in a very good position to go forward and win the GTD PRO championship. We’ve been very close to a win this year and have been in position in almost every race. Road America was the latest example even though we were off the podium. So I hope it’s the same this weekend except we can finish it off this time.”

ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 3 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “VIR is another fantastic track to drive in the IMSA championship. Back in the GTLM days with no ABS, it was probably a little bit more of a challenge because the risk factor is so high there. You had a lot of combined braking zones that you had to manage. So going back there last year felt a little more straightforward with ABS, as you’d expect. But it is a great track with a lovely sequence of corners and fantastic undulation. It can be difficult to pass around there, and the fact that it is a GT-only race as I think it would be pretty sketchy with multi-class racing. But it’s an awesome track to drive and I’m looking forward to going back there.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Aside from the end result at Road America, things are trending in a good way for us going to VIR. Nicky and I were both really happy with the performance and balance of the Corvette, and it’s gotten better and better in this summer run. This obviously is a track that I really enjoy and is one of the great tracks in America. It’s always been a big thrill driving our Corvettes around there through the years and I see no reason why this year won’t be any different. What I do hope is different, though, is our luck and that we can finally break through with a win after all the hard work the team has put in this year.”

NICKY CATSBURG, NO. 4 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “Last year’s race at VIR wasn’t very successful for us. We had some issues on the pit stop that cycled us back, which is one of the unfortunate stories for us the last 18 months. Hopefully we can be clean this time around. We’re coming off the event at Road America where we were quite unlucky with both Corvettes. I felt like we were fast enough to fight for the win. Fingers crossed that at VIR we are able to manage our strengths and finish at the front. The championships are getting too close! We’re in the lead of the Manufacturers Championship, and Antonio and Alex are leading in Drivers points. So it’s getting more and more important to have clean races and that’s our goal at VIR.”

AWA PRE-EVENT DRIVER QUOTES

MATT BELL, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “VIR is another iconic IMSA circuit. It’s always fun to get back to this rollercoaster of a track! Our focus is to head into the last endurance events of the year with the Akin points lead. We’ve had a great car for the whole season so I know we’ll be competitive here again. I’m looking forward to getting involved into another great IMSA battle!”

OREY FIDANI, NO. 13 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I’m looking forward to being back at VIR. It’s a very technical and challenging circuit, but I think there’s a lot of potential for us to score a good result. We’re all determined to do well in the last sprint race of the season before we focus on the remaining endurance events. Our Corvette has had good pace, we have strong momentum coming out of the previous race, and we know this is an important opportunity to score points and accomplish what we’re setting out to do as a team.”

DXDT RACING PRE-EVENT DRIVER QUOTES

ALEC UDELL, NO. 36 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “VIR is an awesome racetrack. It’s a place that I think will suit the Corvette Z06 GT3.R well, which should play to our advantage. Everything has been trending in a positive way through the season. The DXDT team gave us really strong execution on strategy and pit stops in the last race at Road America. After not capitalizing on it, we’re feeling hungry and focused for the race this weekend. I’m excited to get back behind the wheel and put the pedal down.”

ROBERT WICKENS, NO. 36 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It’s last race this year for me. It’s been an incredible experience racing the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. I hope to have success at VIR with DXDT Racing and GM, and built for 2026.”

Raise a Glass: NASCAR Returns to Wine Country June 27-28, 2026

SONOMA, Calif. (August 20, 2025) – The high-speed action of NASCAR racing returns to wine country June 27-28, 2026, as Sonoma Raceway hosts Northern California’s only appearance by America’s most popular form of motorsports.

Set amongst the rolling hills of Sonoma Valley, the weekend will feature two premier events: a NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series race on Saturday, June 27, and the 36th running of the Toyota/Save Mart 350 NASCAR Cup Series race on Sunday, June 28.

“There’s nothing like NASCAR in wine country, and we’re fired up to welcome fans back to Sonoma in 2026,” said Brian Flynn, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Sonoma Raceway. “It’s the kind of weekend that captures everything fans love about NASCAR – heart-pounding action, stunning views and unforgettable memories.”

Coming just one week after the first-ever San Diego Street Race at Naval Base Coronado, the Sonoma weekend marks Race 18 of the season for both the NASCAR Cup and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series. It will also be the second road course stop of the year for each series—an early-season turning point as the playoff picture begins to take shape.

The Toyota/Save Mart 350 will also mark the beginning of TNT Sports’ highly-anticipated NASCAR Cup Series broadcast run, bringing fans a new wave of coverage starting in Sonoma.

Additionally, Sonoma’s race weekend will launch the second-annual NASCAR “In-Season Challenge,” bringing a new level of competitive intensity as drivers battle for five races in a bracket-style tournament for a $1 million bonus.

Drivers will once again take on the 1.99-mile, 10-turn road course, including the popular chute configuration, delivering high-speed corners, tight passing zones, and plenty of elevation changes—perfect ingredients for thrilling, strategy-filled racing in one of NASCAR’s most scenic settings.

Beyond the track, fans can look forward to a complete weekend experience, including practice and qualifying sessions, interactive displays, family-friendly entertainment, and one of the most picturesque viewing environments in the sport. With Sonoma’s sunny summer weather, hillside vantage points, and a vibrant fan atmosphere, the 2026 NASCAR weekend promises to be a true celebration of speed, strategy and West Coast racing culture.

On-track competition schedules and additional TV broadcast information will be provided at a later date.

Affordable tickets, camping, premium, upgrade, and parking options for the 2026 Toyota/Save Mart 350 race weekend are on sale now. Tickets for children ages 12 and under start at just $10. More information can be found by visiting SonomaRaceway.com or calling (800) 870-RACE [7223].

Sonoma Raceway is a 2.52-mile, 12-turn road course and quarter-mile drag strip located at Sears Point in Sonoma County, California. Built in 1968 the track is carved into rolling hills with 160 ft of total elevation change. It is host to one of the few NASCAR Cup Series races each year that are run on road courses. It is one of the world’s busiest racing facilities, with track activity scheduled an average of 340 days a year. A complete and versatile motorsports complex, it is home to one of the nation’s only high-performance automotive industrial parks with approximately 70 tenants.

LONG POND, Pa. (Aug. 20, 2025) – The NASCAR Cup Series stars will head to the Pocono Mountains next summer as Pocono Raceway plays host to the series for a 53rd consecutive year on Sunday, June 14, 2026.

The action-packed June 12-14 tripleheader showcasing the Cup Series also will include the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and ARCA Menards Series on the legendary 2.5-mile “Tricky Triangle.” The weekend will feature a race each day, beginning with the stars of ARCA on Friday, June 12.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts Series will compete Saturday, June 13, leading into Sunday’s highly anticipated Cup Series race – an event that has sold out three years in a row and continues to be one of the most in-demand stops on the NASCAR calendar.

A scheduling conflict led to the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series being unavailable for the 2026 weekend, but Pocono Raceway expects to welcome the series back in 2027.

Single-day tickets and weekend packages are on sale at www.poconoraceway.com, with Cup Series tickets beginning as low as $65. Meyer Shank Racing Duo Heads to Milwaukee for INDYCAR Homestretch

Armstrong will debut the No. 66 St. Thomas University Honda and wear a custom designed race suit created by a student in the Fashion & Merchandising program at STU

Pataskala, Ohio (20 August 2025) – Looking to put the finishing touches on the finest season in its history in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) heads to the venerable Milwaukee Mile for the penultimate race of the 2025 campaign.

Sunday’s Snap-on Milwaukee Mile 250 (2:00pm ET, FOX, SiriusXM ch. 218) not only sets the stage for the following week’s season finale, but it also gives the MSR duo a chance to put a bow on a year that has seen both drivers in the top 10 in the championship chase for much of the second half of the season.

Felix Rosenqvist’s (No. 60 SiriusXM Honda) and Marcus Armstrong (No. 66 St. Thomas University Honda) have set new standards for the Ohio-based MSR team through a season where MSR leads the entire INDYCAR SERIES in top-10 finishing percentage by a team with 20 top 10s in 31 starts (64.5%).

This weekend’s trip to the Milwaukee Mile gives both drivers a chance not only to boost their team’s standings, but also gives an opportunity for career-best year-end results for both drivers.

Rosenqvist is just five points out of sixth place in the title hunt, which would match his previous best, posted in his rookie season of 2019. Armstrong, who is ninth in the standings, but just two points out of eighth, looks to earn his first top-10 season finish since placing second in the FIA Formula 3 championship in 2019.

Armstrong will take to the track in Milwaukee with a fresh new look on the No. 66 Honda, featuring branding from Miami’s St. Thomas University (STU). The collaboration stems from a unique partnership launched in March between MSR and STU, aimed at giving students real-world experience across various disciplines including Fashion & Merchandising, Big Data Analytics, Culinary Arts, and Sports Administration.

As part of the initiative, students from the Fashion & Merchandising program were challenged to design a custom race suit for Armstrong to wear during the Milwaukee weekend. After a series of design submissions and an online fan vote hosted by MSR and STU, one design emerged as the favorite.

The winning concept—titled “Retro Motorsports Revival”—was created by Fashion & Merchandising student Lucia B. Her design has now been brought to life and will make its official debut this weekend. Lucia, along with several faculty and staff from STU, will be trackside to witness the exciting culmination of their creative collaboration.

The two-day weekend will feature a busy Saturday, with a morning practice (9 a.m., FS2) that leads into single-car qualifying at 2 p.m. (FS1). Final practice follows at 4:30 p.m., leading to Sunday’s 250-lap race which will air on FOX starting at 2 p.m. ET. SiriusXM will also host live INDYCAR Radio coverage of all sessions on XM Ch. 218.

Marcus Armstrong: “Short oval racing at a fun little track. I enjoyed it last year and we qualified well for the second race (P3). But unfortunately, we didn’t get to do a lot after we were taken out before the start. It’s a track I gelled with well last year, and hoping to get on the podium again after a strong oval result in Iowa. Also, looking forward to meeting everyone from STU! With their integration into the car and race suit, they can see it all come to life on race weekend.”

Felix Rosenqvist: “I’m very excited for Milwaukee, as it’s a great race track and with great fans. Definitley looking forward to a little oval action again. We’ve been fast on the ovals this year, so hoping we can string together a good result and at least another top-ten. It was probably one of the best races last year in terms of passing and action.
