Veteran Crew Chief Brian Pattie to Lead No. 51 Team in 2023

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Nov. 9, 2022) – Kyle Busch Motorsports (KBM) announced today that veteran crew chief Brian Pattie will join the organization and will be atop the pit box for the No. 51 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series beginning in 2023.

Pattie has spent the last 14 season atop the pit box in the NASCAR Cup Series, where his drivers have produced six wins, nine poles, 57 top-five and 131 top-10 finishes across 528 starts. In 2012, he guided Clint Bowyer to three victories and a runner-up finish in the Cup Series championship standings. In 2017, he guided Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to two wins and a berth in the playoffs. The Florida native has also recorded 11 wins in the NASCAR Xfinity Series and has one win across six starts as a crew chief in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

“As a racer, your ultimate goal is to be in a position where you can win races and the opportunity to work with Kyle and the other drivers on the No. 51 truck is one that I just couldn’t turn down,” Pattie said. “I’ve known Kyle since the early 2000’s when I was his crew chief for his first handful of Busch Series races and the same determination that I saw from him back then as a driver I’ve witnessed from afar as he’s built the most successful team in the history of the Truck Series. I’m very excited for the chance to reunite with him and grateful that he has the confidence in me to come in and help carry on the winning tradition he has established, which I plan to do for many years to come.”

“I’ve known Brian since my early days in NASCAR and he’s one of the smartest and hard-working crew chiefs in all the garage, so to be able to bring a guy of his caliber to KBM is a huge win for our organization,” Busch said. “He’s been a crew chief under the Chevrolet banner for the last three seasons at the Cup Level, so his knowledge of the way they operate and what tools and technologies they provide their teams will be very beneficial as we transition to that camp.”

Crew chief Mardy Lindley and KBM mutually agreed to part ways. Lindley guided the No. 51 team to six wins in his two seasons at KBM.

“We appreciate everything Mardy has done at KBM and wish him the best of luck in his next endeavor,” Busch said.

Hagan Ready to Drive Dodge Power Brokers Charger SRT Hellcat Into Fight for Funny Car World Championship at NHRA Finals

Tony Stewart Racing drivers Matt Hagan and  Leah Pruett, along with their Dodge Power Brokers Charger SRT Hellcat Funny Car and Dodge Power Brokers Top Fuel Dragster respectively, are ready for the 2022 NHRA Drag Racing Series season.
  • Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) will close out their first season competing in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Camping World Drag Racing Series this weekend with driver Matt Hagan and the Dodge Power Brokers Funny Car vying for a championship at the 57th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals
  • The three-time Funny Car World Champion has four wins and four runner-up performances this year aboard his Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat and remains in contention for the championship crown heading into the season finale 63 points behind category leader Robert Hight and two behind reigning titleholder Ron Capps
  • Hagan heads into the NHRA Finals with a chance to earn the Funny Car title for a fourth consecutive season and the ninth time in 15 years
  • TSR Top Fuel pilot Leah Pruett looks to finish off her team’s challenging first year together on a positive note and add to highlights that include a coveted win at the Dodge Power Brokers Mile-High Nationals in Denver and a No. 1 Qualifier position at the Sonoma Nationals

November 9, 2022, Auburn Hills, Michigan – While their first season competing in the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Camping World Drag Racing Series draws to a close at the upcoming 57th annual Auto Club NHRA Finals, Tony Stewart Racing (TSR) and driver Matt Hagan aren’t easing up on the throttle as the Dodge Power Brokers Funny Car remains in contention for the world championship heading into the final event of the six-race Countdown to the Championship playoffs.

Hagan began the year by driving his Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat to the winner’s circle in three of the first eight national events of TSR’s inaugural season, including his first career Gatornationals victory, and led the Funny Car points standings until the halfway point of the season. His playoff performance through five of six NHRA Countdown to the Championship events included three semifinals followed by back-to-back final rounds appearances to stay in the hunt.

His win at the penultimate race of the season, the Nevada Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, kept the team’s Funny Car title hopes alive by putting Hagan within 63 points of the category leader Robert Hight and just two points behind reigning world champ Ron Capps heading into this weekend’s points-and-a-half NHRA Finals at the legendary Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California.

It’s familiar territory for Hagan who comes into the final race as a title contender for the fourth consecutive season after finishing runner-up in the championship last season, earning the Funny Car crown in 2020, and ending up third overall in 2019. The three-time NHRA world champion has driven a Dodge Funny Car to a top-three finish eight times in 14 years.

For a chance to vie for the crown again on race day, Hagan will have to amass all the extra bonus points he can in four qualifying sessions to get within two rounds (or less than 60 points) of Hight. However, no matter what the result, Hagan is proud of what his TSR team has accomplished and looks forward to building on this season’s performance.

“It has been a real honor to drive for Tony Stewart Racing this year and I’m looking forward to next year also,” says Hagan who earned four Wally trophies and four runner-up finishes for TSR this year to date. “Obviously, we’re in the hunt to win TSR their first championship this weekend, so that would be huge. It is an uphill battle and we have to come out swinging. We have to gather up those small points to keep it under 60 (points) over two rounds to win. In 2010, when I was the runner-up, all I had to do was show up and go two rounds to win. I was eliminated in the first round, so (John) Force won the championship. I’ve been on Robert’s (Hight) side of it and lost it, so that’s why we’re going to go out there and dig deep to still give ourselves a shot. It’s still very possible.

“I’m happy to be a part of it and excited for what the future brings,” adds Hagan. “I think we’ll be in the mix of things for a long time to come. We just have to keep pushing hard and turning win lights on and things will fall into place.”

TSR Top Fuel pilot Leah Pruett and her Dodge Power Brokers dragster head into the last of 22 national events looking to finish their first year together on a high note. While she sits just outside the Top Fuel top 10 going into Pomona, the team made significant gains throughout the challenging season that had Pruett as high as sixth in points by August.

Pruett made her sixth career appearance in the NHRA postseason after she scored a memorable win at the Dodge Power Brokers Mile-High Nationals in Denver and earned the No. 1 Qualifier position at the Sonoma Nationals. The Denver victory wasn’t just the highlight of her season, but also the perfect representation of the kind of year TSR has had.

“My most memorable moment of this season has got to be a collage of moments from the Dodge Power Brokers NHRA Mile-High Nationals in Bandimere,” says Pruett of her 10th career win. “Specifically the first qualifier, where we were testing new components at our first mile-high race and ultimately blew the tires off harder than we ever had and were able to immediately make wholesale adjustments that provisionally put us in the No. 1 spot. From there, we worked on consistency. On race day, we had a very potent potluck of a good-running racecar, I was solid on the tree, winning a couple pedal fests, with a sprinkle of luck to cap the day off in the winner’s circle. Our whole season of highs and lows could be illustrated in that one race which is why it is so memorable, besides it being our first TSR Top Fuel Wally.”

Looking to close out his 30th season of competition in Funny Car on a good note is driver and team owner Cruz Pedregon. This year the two-time world champ qualified his Snap-on Tools Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat in the top-half of the eliminations ladder at 14 of 21 events to date and became just the third racer in the pro categories to record 600 race day starts.

After contending for last year’s championship until the final race and finishing fourth overall, the Cruz Pedregon Racing team battled among the top-five in the standings for the first half of the 2022 season and began the Countdown from eighth place. While the team hasn’t been involved in this year’s title fight, Pedregon would still like to go four rounds on Sunday and continue to help lay the groundwork for his 2023 season.

“It’s my home track and we want to end the year on a high note for Snap-on, Dodge and all the partners that support us,” says Pedregon who sits ninth in points heading into the weekend. “I think we have a good shot at six or seven (in the championship) still with points-and-a-half at Pomona. It gives us an opportunity to right some of the wrongs we’ve had this year. We’re all about trying to finish as high as we can in the points and work on getting a gauge on our clutch program. We plan for that to all come together to get stronger, more consistent runs. We’re ready to finish the season with solid runs and going rounds on the final race day of the ’22 season.”

The NHRA Finals, the last of six “Countdown to the Championship” playoff events, will take place Nov. 10-13 at Auto Club Raceway in Pomona, California, with a pair of Nitro qualifying sessions scheduled on Friday, Nov. 11, and the final two set for Saturday, Nov. 12. Final eliminations will begin at 11 a.m. PT on Sunday, Nov. 13. FS1 will broadcast a qualifying highlights show on Sunday, Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. ET and then begin race day coverage at 4 p.m. ET to conclude with the crowning of 2022 NHRA World Champions.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 9, 2022) – NASCAR, FOX Sports, and NBC Sports jointly announced 2023 race start times and networks for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series.

Twenty-one NASCAR Cup Series races will air on FOX or NBC broadcast networks in 2023, the highest number of broadcast races since 2009. The 2023 schedule marks the second consecutive year of growth on network television with one more race airing on broadcast than in 2022.

Eleven races will air on FOX, including the Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum (Sunday, Feb. 5, 8 p.m. ET), the DAYTONA 500 (Sunday, Feb. 19, 2:30 p.m. ET), and the next five points races to start the season. The Bristol Dirt Race returns to FOX in primetime on Easter (Sunday, April 9, 7 p.m. ET), while Talladega Superspeedway (Sunday, April 23, 3 p.m. ET), the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway (Sunday, May 28, 6 p.m. ET) and Sonoma Raceway (Sunday, June 11, 3:30 p.m. ET) are the final NASCAR Cup Series races on broadcast in FOX Sports’ portion of the season. FS1 will present eight NASCAR Cup Series races, beginning with the Duel at DAYTONA (Thursday, Feb. 16, 7:30 p.m. ET) and Richmond Raceway (Sunday, April 2, 3:30 p.m. ET).

In 2022, the NASCAR Cup Series experienced its highest viewership and share during the FOX segment of the schedule since 2017.

Ten broadcast races will air on NBC, one more than in 2022, including the kickoff of the NBC Sports portion of the season at Nashville Superspeedway in primetime (Sunday, June 25, 7 p.m. ET) and the NASCAR Cup Series’ first-ever Chicago Street Race (Sunday, July 2, 5:30 p.m. ET). The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course (Sunday, Aug. 13, 2:30 p.m. ET) and regular season finale at Daytona International Speedway (Saturday, Aug. 26, 7 p.m. ET) will be the other regular season races airing on the network. Once again, the final six playoff races will air on NBC beginning with Talladega Superspeedway on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 2 p.m. ET and culminating with the championship race at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 3 p.m. ET.

“Over the last few years, we’ve worked closely with our broadcast partners, tracks, teams, drivers, and industry stakeholders to deliver some of the most bold and innovative schedules in NASCAR’s history – 2023 is no exception,” said Brian Herbst, NASCAR senior vice president of media and productions. “We will always look for opportunities to expand the distribution of our world-class racing product to NASCAR’s loyal fanbase – by adding more broadcast and primetime races in 2023, our media partners are continuing their commitment to reach as many viewers as possible through their network platforms. This commitment was on full display in 2022, with a 4% year-over-year viewership increase for the NASCAR Cup Series and we look forward to continuing the momentum in 2023.”

Overall, 10 NASCAR Cup Series races will air in primetime during the 2023 season. The Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum, the Bristol Dirt Race, NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway (Sunday, May 21, at 8 p.m. ET, FS1), Charlotte Motor Speedway, Nashville Superspeedway, Chicago Street Race, Atlanta Motor Speedway (Sunday, July 9, at 7 p.m. ET, USA Network), Daytona International Speedway, Darlington Raceway (Sunday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. ET, USA Network), and Bristol Motor Speedway (Saturday, Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. ET, USA Network) highlight racing under the lights next year.

Additionally, five NASCAR Xfinity Series races will air live on broadcast in 2023. FOX will be home to the classic NASCAR action from Darlington Raceway (Saturday, May 13, 1:30 p.m. ET), while NBC will carry the Xfinity Series four times, including from Road America (Saturday, July 29, 3 p.m. ET), Michigan International Speedway (Saturday, Aug. 5, 3:30 p.m. ET), Kansas Speedway (Saturday, Sept. 9, 3 p.m. ET) and Homestead-Miami Speedway (Saturday, Oct. 21, 3 p.m. ET).

USA Network enters its second season as NBC Sports’ cable home for NASCAR and will present 25 NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series races in 2023. NASCAR Xfinity Series racing will begin from Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday, June 24, at 3:30 p.m. ET, while USA’s coverage of the Cup Series premieres at Atlanta Motor Speedway on Sunday, July 9, at 7 p.m. ET. This season, six Cup Series races on USA Network delivered year-over-year viewership gains versus NBCSN races in 2021 and USA Network was also the most-watched cable network on television for seven races.

CRAFTSMAN will make its triumphant return to the Trucks Series in 2023 with 22 races scheduled on FS1. The return to North Wilkesboro (Sunday, May 20, 1:30 p.m. ET) will air on FOX. Thirteen NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series races will run in primetime, highlighted by the playoffs opener at Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis on Friday, Aug. 11, at 9 p.m. ET and the championship at Phoenix Raceway on Friday, Nov. 3, at 10 p.m. ET.

CORVETTE RACING AT BAHRAIN: Farewell to GTE Pro

Looking back on an incredible era of manufacturer racing in WEC, IMSA

DETROIT (Nov. 9, 2022) – This weekend’s Eight Hours of Bahrain marks the last race for the GTE Pro class in the FIA World Endurance Championship, the end of a fantastic decade-plus of manufacturer vs. manufacturer competition.

Corvette Racing, naturally, has been part of GTE Pro in the WEC – including the 24 Hours of Le Mans – since the first year of the class in 2011. Its participation in GTE-rules racing was amplified in 2014 with the birth of the GT Le Mans (GTLM) category in IMSA, which used the same technical rules that existed for GTE.

Taking into account both championships, Corvette Racing has an exemplary record in GTE/GTLM competition with 32 victories at racetracks around the world to go along with five Drivers and Team championships and four Manufacturers crowns in IMSA. That number could increase next year with the team’s move to GTE Am in WEC with Ben Keating and Nicky Catsburg confirmed as the first two drivers for the full 2023 season.

Coincidentally, the first GTE rules victory for Corvette Racing came in 2011 at Le Mans with its No. 73 Corvette C6.R. Current Corvette WEC driver Tommy Milner was part of the lineup with IMSA regular Antonio Garcia alongside Olivier Beretta.

Milner also was part of the most recent GTE Pro win with Nick Tandy and the No. 64 Corvette C8.R at Monza in this year’s GTE Pro championship.

The Eight Hours of Bahrain for the FIA World Endurance Championship is scheduled for 2 p.m. Arabian Standard Time (AST) / 6 a.m. ET Saturday from the Bahrain International Circuit. Qualifying is set for 4:50 p.m. AST/8:50 a.m. ET on Friday. The race will air live on MotorTrend with live streaming coverage of the race and qualifying on the MotorTrend Plus app. Radio Le Mans will broadcast qualifying and the race.

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “This class has been a huge part of my career… actually it’s been my career realistically! It even goes back to my first at Le Mans in 2006 in GT2. The rules have changed slightly over the years, but it’s been roughly the same for the last 15 seasons. It’s been fantastic and some of the best racing we’ve seen around the world, whether it’s been at Le Mans or in IMSA. In the short term, we’re losing a professional GT class at Le Mans, but I don’t think that will be the case for very long. It seems like in many ways both in IMSA and Le Mans, the class has run its course and had its great years and some down years as well with lower car counts. So from that side of things, you understand the need to start fresh. But I think things will pick up where they left off soon in terms of professional GT racing.”

“Those years where we had 16-17 cars at Le Mans… it was just a remarkable with the competition level for the show. It shows what that class could have been in many cases. While you see many people dwell on low car counts – at least compared to the amateur classes – the racing was always super good and competitive. It seemed to get more intense and competitive each year with the usual suspects. It’s an era of sports car racing where people can look back on and most will settle on and dwell on those years from 2016-19 with how good those cars were. I don’t think that we’re losing something; I think it’s a chance to refresh the formula for professional GT racing as IMSA has continued with a professional GT class.”

NICK TANDY, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “With this class of GTE Pro and GTLM racing… the first experience I had with these types of cars and what I started my factory racing career was in GT in the American Le Mans Series. This was in 2013. The class effectively launched the rest of my career. It’s been a huge part of my life for the last years. So it is very sad to see the end of an era. I’ve been through the heartbreak of losing GTLM, and luckily I’ve been able to carry on racing GTE Pro cars this year. But it’s the end of this era and car specification, which is sad. But for me personally, I’m so happy I was able to be part of it. It has been the class that has provided me with great racing and the life I’m lucky enough to live and do.”

“The racing was spectacular on both sides of the world. The cars always looked awesome. They typified a souped-up sports car that you would draw up or dream of when you’re growing up as a child. They looked spectacular and sounded spectacular. All the cars in the class were different, of course. But the way the class was managed, the racing was always close. You’ve only got to look at different series when there were five factory teams racing at one time. The racing was absolutely the best in the world that I had seen or experienced. It’s been a great time for our sport. It’s given me so many lasting memoires, even dating back to 2011. It’s been my life. Good times…”

“I’ve been lucky to race in other cars and in other classes. When the heyday of LMP1 ended in 2017, we went to Le Mans in 2018 and GTE Pro was headlining. There were 17 proper factory-affiliated entries and all with a chance to win. The class has been ever-present and ever-popular while other classes had been up and down. That’s a testament to the regulations and the manufacturers who wanted to join in and go racing.”

LAURA WONTROP KLAUSER, GM SPORTS CAR RACING PROGRAM MANAGER: “GTE Pro in WEC – and GT Le Mans in IMSA – have provided some of the best racing between manufacturers that sports car racing has seen in a generation. The teams and the technology have been top-notch. Some of the most exciting races I’ve personally seen – as a fan and as part of the program – involved Corvette Racing in GTE Pro or GTLM. As a manufacturer, you can’t ask for better competition than against four, five and six other marques like we saw in 2017, 2018 and 2019. As we all look forward to the next chapter of production-based racing worldwide with GT3, I hope we can see more of the great battles between teams and manufacturers for years to come.”

IMPRESSIVE ROOKIES MAKE THEIR MARK AT SOUTH BOSTON SPEEDWAY

SOUTH BOSTON, VA….It was an impressive group of rookie drivers that competed for championships and post-season honors at South Boston Speedway in 2022, many of whom compiled statistics veteran drivers would have liked to have posted.

Parker Eatmon of Wilson, North Carolina (NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car Division), Carter Russo of Rougemont, North Carolina (Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division), B.J. Reaves of South Boston, Virginia (Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division) and Landon Milam of Keeling, Virginia (Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division) were announced as Rookie of the Year Award recipients during the South Boston Speedway Awards Banquet presented by PPG on Thursday night, November 3, at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, Virginia. The four drivers were the highest-finishing rookie driver in their respective division.

While Eatmon competed in only half of the races in the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series Late Model Stock Car Division, he compiled a record good enough to make him the division’s top rookie with a 15th-place finish in the final division point standings.

“I’m proud to win Rookie of the Year at South Boston Speedway,” remarked Eaton, a 16-year-old who is a junior at Rocky Mount Academy in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. “We had a decent year at South Boston. Obviously, I would have liked to have won a race but it’s difficult with the competition that is there at South Boston Speedway. You had Peyton Sellers and Layne Riggs, and, of course, Jacob Borst and Landon Pembelton. They were good competition all year and they are tough to beat because they have been racing there for so long. I feel like it was good for me to get accustomed to the level of competition here is at South Boston Speedway.”

Eatmon’s record was good with one Top-5 finish and 10 Top-10 finishes in his eight starts. Among his Top-10 finishes were a trio of sixth-place finishes to go along with his one Top-5 finish.

“I was going into it just expecting to do the best I could, try to learn and grow into these cars because they are so different from the Legends Cars I was racing in the past,” Eatmon explained. “We started gaining spots as the races went on into the year. We started doing pretty well and found some speed. It was all good.”

For Russo, winning Rookie of the Year honors in the Budweiser Limited Sportsman Division was something of a surprise.

“It’s always a surprise,” Russo remarked. “It’s pretty amazing. You race against the best-of-the-best. All of the rookies finished in the top five in points, so it was a tough battle for Rookie of the Year.”

Russo started picking up momentum just prior to the mind-point of the season. When the season concluded Russo placed third in the final point standings with five Top-5 finishes and 12 Top-10 finishes in his 13 starts.

Among his Top-5 finishes were a pair of runner-up finishes and a pair of third-place finishes. He recorded four sixth-place finishes among his dozen Top-10 finishes and was one of 10 drivers to lead laps in the division.

“You always want to win, but that wasn’t at the top of our list,” Russo pointed out. “We were just trying to finish races, get experience, get knowledge to go into next year. It’s real rewarding to win Rookie of the Year. It’s something you can put on your resume and say you have done at a track like South Boston Speedway. We’ll be back and we’ll run Limited Sportsman again and try to get two spots better and see if we can bring home the championship next year with some wins.”

Reaves, who competed in the Southside Disposal Pure Stock Division, was the only driver among the four Rookie of the Year Award winners to win a race. He finished third in the final division point standings with a win, seven Top-5 finishes, and 11 Top-10 finishes in his 12 starts. The win, a runner-up finish, a third-place finish and two fourth-place finishes were among his Top-5 efforts. He was one of five drivers to lead laps this season.

“It was super exciting,” Reaves said of receiving the award at the speedway’s awards banquet. “I thought it was great that the track held the nice a ceremony it did, and I had the opportunity to receive that award for Rookie of the Year. It meant a lot to me. It’s a big deal. It’s a plaque I’m going to mount on the wall and will be proud of.”

One of the things that made Reaves’ accomplishments extremely rewarding was that the 2022 season was his first season of stock car racing.

“It was my first year of ever doing any type of circle-track racing,” Reaves pointed out. “It was a big learning curve for me all around. I don’t watch that much racing, so it wasn’t like I had a real good background coming into it. I was a green as you could get.”

The South Boston, Virginia resident was proud to have won a race in 2022 and be the only driver among the four Rookie of the Year Award winners to win a race. However, he wanted the win to come about in a different way.

“I know it doesn’t take away from it, but I realize the reason I won the race that I won was that Johnny Layne’s throttle cable broke,” Reaves said. “If his throttle cable had not broken that night, I don’t think I would have had a chance at it. For me, that’s frustrating. I want to win when I outrun the fast guys. I want to get a win because I had the best car that night. It will happen.”

Milam, one of the youngest, if not the youngest driver competing in the Virginia State Police HEAT Hornets Division, finished fifth overall in the final division point standings. He recorded a pair of third-place finishes, and he posted eight Top-10 finishes in his 10 starts that included a pair of sixth-place efforts.

“It feels great to receive the award,” Milam said. “The season was better than I expected. I was hoping to have a good year and win Rookie of the Year. I had no idea I would finish top five in points. At the beginning of the year, I didn’t think I was going to get it. For the longest time I had bad luck and got into wrecks and stuff and got behind. When (fellow driver Jordaine Penick) missed a race I caught back up, got in the lead for Rookie of the Year, and kept the lead from there. Toward the end of the year, it all worked out well.”

Sheehan Survives TA2 Barrel for Top Twenty Finish

Austin, TEXAS – November 9, 2022 – New Hampshire’s Tom Sheehan made the long trip down to Texas worthwhile with what he called a fun drive in the final round of the 2022 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship season. One of the most experienced and skilful drivers on the circuit, Tom survived a minor shunt to finish in the Top 20 despite damage to the car slowing his progress over the final laps.

With a record field of 53 cars taking to the track at Circuit of The Americas for the TA2 Class race on Sunday morning, room to maneuver was always going to be at a premium. While the TA Class race had been caution free, the yellow flag was much in evidence in the TA2 race as drivers fought hard for position.

Tom qualified the No. 97 LTK Insulation Technologies Damon Racing Mustang at COTA in P19. The Ironman prospered in the early going, capitalizing on hard racing through the field, alongside crafty veterans. Tom displayed his impressive driving skills with good restarts to climb several places – running as high as P16. The LTK Damon Racing machine took damage to the front nose on the final restart. The air box and hood damage reduced air flow for the intake and cooling, the raising hood created extra drag reducing straight-line performance in the final laps. Tom was unable to continue hunting forward in the closing laps. The aero damage put the New Hampshirite on defense to the finish in the final round in Austin, Texas.

We spoke to Tom after the race and he was generous in his praise of the Championship winners and the other Mike Cope drivers, “Overall we came down to Texas to have a good time and race, have some fun and support my good friend Chris Dyson. He won his TA race and won the Championship. The silver lining is Thomas Merrill. It was an epic day for the Mike Cope guys coming from a tough circumstance in the VIR race and they brought home the TA2 Championship – that’s pretty sweet.”

Of his own experience he added, “For our day we went out and ran hard. We had some good restarts. Lots of banging and contact. We had some damage on the car, a bit of a parachute on the hood. My team gave me a great car, up to the light touch that resulted in a lot more damage than the actual contact, the front bumper of the Ford and the rear cover of the Dodge just don’t line up, it kind of sat on my hood instead of lining up. Good racing with the guys around me. It was disappointing to be a duck out there, in the final stint, but it happens in TA2. I was in the barrel of the gun!”

On lap four, he completed one of the minor long lap penalties on the schedule around Miller nook, and while he rejoined the race, he led Tony Arbolino by way of 1.2 seconds. While Arbolino crashed, the space between them elevated appreciably.

He cleared and dominated the race by more than 3.5 seconds, no matter a few late profits via Pedro Acosta, who turned into a war with Ajo Motorsport’s team-mate Fernandez.

After ten laps, Filip Sala crashed out of the fourth region at flip 1, giving Jake Dixon the final podium position because of his put-on.

On the last lap, Manuel González overtook Cameron Beaubier for fifth and Fermno Aldeguer for fourth, allowing Beaubier to drop out of competition for the rostrum.

Bastianini turned into not being able to develop to impeach 2. The Gresini rider came approximately to overtake Lex Rins to take 2d after setting the purple 2nd sector while he tripped the gradual KTM. He became the most effective zero .04 seconds away from the finish line.

Oliveira no longer tried to prevent the Italian. He was about to begin the exercise when Bastianini, the remaining rider throughout the line, ran after him. He assumed that every rider had completed their very last flying lap.

Accident Victim: How to Protect Your Legal Rights

Photo by Michael Jin on Unsplash

The unfortunate truth is that accidents happen every day and people are injured, often seriously. Therefore, if you are the victim of an accident and sustained any injuries, it is important for you to know how to protect your legal rights.

Causes Of Accidents

Drivers who are distracted by their cell phones, GPS devices, or other passengers in the car are more likely to cause an accident. Excessive speed is one of the leading causes of accidents. Weaving in and out of lanes, tailgating, and other aggressive driving behaviors increase the risk of an accident. Drugs and alcohol impair a driver’s ability to operate a vehicle safely. Slick roads from rain or snow can make it difficult to control a car, increasing the risk of an accident.

Truck accidents are a type of traffic accident that involves a large commercial truck, such as an 18-wheeler. Some causes of truck accidents are similar to regular car accidents, such as distracted driving, speeding, and weather conditions. However, there are some unique factors that can contribute to truck accidents, such as driver fatigue and mechanical problems with the truck.

The Legal Rights Of A Victim

If you’ve been injured in an accident that was someone else’s fault, it’s important to know your legal rights. Here are a few key points to keep in mind:

  • You have the right to seek medical treatment and be compensated for your medical bills.
  • You have the right to receive compensation for lost wages if you’re unable to work because of your injuries.
  • You may be entitled to pain and suffering damages.
  • You have the right to file a personal injury lawsuit against the at-fault party.
  • You have the right to an attorney to help you navigate the legal process and protect your rights.

What To Do Immediately After An Accident

If you’ve been in an accident, there are a few things you should do immediately to protect your legal rights. First, seek medical attention if you have any injuries. It’s important to have a record of your injuries for insurance purposes and to document what happened.

Second, get the contact information for any witnesses to the accident. Their testimony could be crucial in proving how the accident happened and who was at fault.

Third, take pictures of the scene of the accident and any damage to your vehicle. This will again be helpful in documenting what happened and will be evidence if you need to file a claim with your insurance company.

Fourth, call the police and file a report. This is another important step in documenting the accident and will help ensure that all of the facts are recorded accurately.

Finally, contact a personal injury lawyer to discuss your case and find out what legal options you have. An experienced lawyer can help you navigate the complex legal process and fight for the compensation you deserve.

Recordkeeping

It is important to keep a record of what happened. This can be done by taking pictures at the scene, getting contact information from witnesses, and keeping a journal of your injuries and treatment.

This will help you have a clear record of what happened and will be helpful if you need to file a personal injury claim. If you have any questions about your legal rights, be sure to speak with an experienced personal injury attorney.

Medical Records

If you are in an accident and there is an injury of any kind it is a good idea to obtain and keep all medical records related to the accident. This includes any records from your doctor, hospital, or other medical provider.

It is important to keep these records for two reasons. First, they will document the injuries you sustained in the accident. This documentation will be important if you decide to file a personal injury lawsuit against the responsible party. Second, the records will document the treatment you received for your injuries. This can be important if your insurance company denies your claim or if you have problems getting them to pay for your medical treatment.

If you do not already have a copy of your medical records, you should request them from your doctor or hospital as soon as possible. Be sure to keep copies of all bills and receipts related to your medical treatment as well. These documents will also be helpful if you need to file a personal injury lawsuit or seek reimbursement from your insurance company.

Reporting The Accident To Your Insurance Company

If you’ve been in an accident, you may be wondering how to protect your legal rights. One of the first things you should do is report the accident to your insurance company.

Reporting the accident to your insurance company is important for a few reasons. First, it will help to ensure that your medical bills are covered. Second, it will help to ensure that any property damage is covered. Finally, it will help to create a record of the accident that can be used if you need to file a lawsuit.

When you report the accident to your insurance company, be sure to include all of the relevant facts. This includes the date and time of the accident, where it occurred, what happened, and who was involved. You should also include any information about witnesses or any other evidence that you have collected.

As an accident victim, it is important to be aware of your legal rights and how to protect them. By understanding the law and working with a qualified personal injury attorney, you can ensure that you receive the compensation you deserve. If you have been injured in an accident, don’t hesitate to contact a personal injury lawyer to discuss your case.

Why Should Formula 1 Fans Get Into Casino Games?

Photo by Abed Ismail on Unsplash

Over the past few years, the gaming world has seen tremendous change. It is becoming more popular by the day and creating a huge fan base across the globe. Formula 1 games have also been added to the fun. This is why fans are often encouraged to engage in casino events as well. The best thing is that they have certain characteristics in common. First, they are both thrilling. The adrenaline rush that you will feel when your driver wins is usually the same as what you will feel when you correctly predict an outcome.

The sport has also attracted some of the big casino brands. We have seen gambling companies sponsoring Formula 1 events and the drivers involved. This can only show that this is a relationship that we will see grow for many years to come. With that aside, let us see why Formula 1 fans should also get into casino games.

The Thrill

There is always a lot of excitement and thrill whenever you are watching an F1 race. This is why most people love the sport. There is a certain adrenaline rush that you will experience as you wait to see if your driver takes the win. This is why you will always be looking forward to the race each weekend. It is the same with casino games. Whenever you play at the best online casino New Jersey, you are uncertain about what your results will be. You can only hope and pray that the outcome goes your way and you win. The suspense is always the same, whether you are playing at a casino or watching a race. But if you are really into thrills, you can combine the two activities and have even more fun.

Quick Payouts

Most people often engage in online gambling for various reasons. One of them is a convenience when it comes to payments. This is why they are preferred rather than going to physical brick and motor casinos. The payment methods used are quite convenient. They are also much faster when compared to others. With this, you will not have to worry about your cash running out. Another advantage is the fact that they accept more than one method of payment.

Source of Entertainment

Playing casino games can also be seen as a good source of entertainment. You can use it as a way of passing time while doing something interesting and fun. If you are a true fan of Formula One, you can cash in by betting on the races throughout the nine-month period of the season. You can also enjoy the bonuses offered when you bet on various drivers. With platforms like betParx you can say goodbye to boredom and enjoy your free time. When you continue engaging in casino games, you will still have something to keep you entertained when the season is over. This will also offer you a chance to practice or learn more about gambling.

Use of Different Currencies

Formula One is a popular sport. Many people around the world like watching it. It wouldn’t be a problem if you wanted to play online casino games from any part of the globe. Most of them accept payment using different methods. Some even accept cryptocurrencies. With this, you can pay and play from anywhere without worrying about your currency. But, when you are about to register for an online casino, make sure to check the transaction options that they use. They often accept different methods. With the variety available, you can access your online games as fast as your driver can race.

A New Hobby

Learning a new casino game can be fun, but it will take some time. You can engage in skill-based games to develop your strategies. As you continue to play, you will find yourself adopting a new hobby. The best part is that you can still enjoy the games even when the Formula One season is over. This can be the best way to entertain yourself and make some money during your free time.

Conclusion

As you’ve seen above, playing casino games could be just as fun as watching a race. They can complement each other very well. Both are able to provide you with the same exciting and enjoyable experiences. If you are a Formula 1 fan, try out casino games, the fun is endless.

NASHVILLE METROPOLITIAN MAYOR’S OFFICE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BRISTOL MOTOR SPEEDWAY PRESENTS ‘LANDMARK’ CONTRACT

FOR LEASE AND RENOVATION OF REVERED NASHVILLE FAIRGROUNDS SPEEDWAY TO FAIR BOARD FOR REVIEW

Return of NASCAR to historic Music City racing venue moves one step closer

BRISTOL, Tenn. (Nov. 8, 2022) – The Nashville Metropolitan Mayor’s office, in partnership with Bristol Motor Speedway (BMS), has reached an agreement on contract terms to renovate and lease the historic Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway (NFS) venue that includes the transformation of the Speedway campus into a year-round, multipurpose venue that will host NASCAR and non-racing, revenue-generating events.

Subject to approval by the Board of Fair Commissioners, Metropolitan Council and Sports Authority, BMS will begin its long-term lease to manage and operate NFS, and assume all financial responsibility for track renovations and ongoing maintenance.

“Partnering with Bristol allows Nashville to preserve our 131-year tradition of racing at the Fairgrounds and bring the legendary speedway back to life as a valuable and exciting part of the modernized Fairgrounds,” said Nashville Mayor, John Cooper. “Recognizing our obligation to maintain the track, we are leveraging investments from the state, the tourism industry, and facility users to make this a financial success for the city. We can put this landmark back on the national stage. I look forward to working with the Fair Board, Sports Authority and the Metro Council in the months ahead.”

Tonight the Nashville Mayor’s office delivered the multi-tiered contract to the Fair Board and presented the merits of the agreement to the gathered officials. As the commissioners begin their due diligence and review the contract, it is expected that the Fair Board will provide two open-forum discussions for the public to provide their feedback and continue on-going negotiations before a formal vote takes place in January 2023.

Once approved by the Nashville Board of Fair commissioners, the contract will then be presented to Metro-Council for review and approval, and then to the Sports Authority for the final sign-off, before the contract returns to the Nashville Metropolitan Mayor’s office for the binding signature.

“This is a tremendous step forward for Mayor Cooper’s office, the city of Nashville and our company to preserve history with a revitalized Fairgrounds Speedway,” said Speedway Motorsports President and CEO Marcus Smith. “It’s time to establish a bright future for NASCAR’s return to the fairgrounds and create impactful new entertainment that will benefit the city and region. We’d like to thank the NASCAR community, local racers, business and non-profit partners who’ve helped us reach this point, and we look forward to working with Fair Board and Metro Council in the coming weeks to make this vision a reality for Nashville.”

Said Jerry Caldwell, president and general manager of Bristol Motor Speedway: “It’s been a long multi-year process through selections and negotiations and we are eager to see this project through its completion. There is a lot of work ahead of us as we meet with city officials and work with the community to complete a truly comprehensive restoration of the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway for the enjoyment of future generations. We encourage race fans to continue to show their support for this special piece of motorsports history. We are thankful to all who have supported this venture throughout this process.”

Completing a comprehensive renovation of the Nashville Fairgrounds:

Planned renovations include installation of state-of-the-art sound mitigation components that will reduce racing noise by an estimated 50 percent over current conditions, modernizing driver and spectator safety features, grandstand replacement, and the addition of a new multi-purpose event facility.

Recent renovations to the Fairgrounds include a new MLS stadium, Fair Park and event expo facilities. The revitalized Fairgrounds Speedway will produce a significant economic impact for Nashville and the region. An analysis by Tourism Economics estimates the speedway would generate about $200 million annually in economic activity through visitor spending in hotels, restaurants and other local attractions.

One of the oldest auto racing facilities in the United States, Fairgrounds Speedway opened in 1904 and hosted annual NASCAR competition from 1958-1984. Its celebrated history includes race wins by stock car icons Dale Earnhardt, Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip and Sterling Marlin.

Currently, the All-American 400 featuring local racing with 10-classes of cars has been a staple event since 1981 with current NASCAR stars such as Chase Elliott, Daniel Hemric and John Hunter Nemechek capturing coveted titles.

BMS is part of the Speedway Motorsports family, which owns and operates 11 major sports and entertainment destinations around the country.

What they’re saying about the renovation of the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway:

“The Fairgrounds is such a special track for so many people in Nashville and in racing. It was an important place for me as I was starting out and I am so glad to see a plan to invest in the track again after all these years. I have known Marcus and his family for a long time and I cannot think of anyone better to take care of the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway going forward.” – Darrell Waltrip, NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and three-time Cup Series Champion

“I still remember the first time I came to the Fairgrounds to race. I fell in love with the place after the first lap. Nashville Fairgrounds is a historic and iconic venue, and Bristol Motor Speedway is the very best partner to continue that storied history. I’m looking forward to witnessing the next chapter in the life of this historic landmark.” – Dale Earnhardt Jr., NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and racing analyst for NBC Sports

“That racetrack and the history of that racetrack and its location is just something that we’re never going to replicate again. For the most part, all of these facilities that we have are 45 minutes to an hour outside whatever said market we’re trying to reach… With the Fairgrounds, you’d be drawing from an area that is 15 blocks away or so… That’s why I think as an industry we need to take advantage of that. We don’t need to let that place die.” – Chase Elliott, driver of the No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevy in the NASCAR Cup Series

“Nashville’s demand as a destination is at an all-time high at a moment when availability of venues and facilities is stretched in our city. A high-quality speedway for both motor sports and other major events is a missing piece for us. When you look at the Fairgrounds, investments have been made in new exhibit buildings, Geodis Park and the surrounding neighborhood. It’s time to invest in the most beloved and historic piece of that property. The public spoke in 2011 to protect racing, and this public-private partnership elevates the speedway to a level that creates economic activity in an improved, quieter and more controlled way for that neighborhood and the entire city. We believe so much in this project and the return on investment that we are investing our own dollars into it.” – Butch Spyridon, CEO, Nashville Convention & Visitors Corp

“If the enthusiasm we’ve heard from this community proves anything, it’s that Middle Tennessee fans are hungry for more NASCAR racing and are passionate and eager to support two Cup Series races. This city continues to become more of an entertainment destination and I believe adding the Fairgrounds Speedway, which is such a historic venue, to the mix will benefit not only motorsports in general, but also the fans of this region, who are certainly deserving of the best racing has to offer.”– Erik Moses, president and general manager of Nashville Superspeedway

“Wonderful news that the Fairgrounds Speedway is here to stay and better than ever. The track is a national historic treasure and perfectly linked to all the music, entertainment and sports that has put Nashville in the fast lane as the “coolest” city in the country.” – Rudy Kalis, Longtime Nashville sportscaster and media personality

“I am part of a racing family that has been involved at the Fairgrounds for years. A few weeks after losing my Dad to Covid, I won my first track championship in the Legends Division for 2021. My entire family is excited and welcomes Bristol and the Mayor’s effort to restore such a historic facility.” – Oliver Cordell, 2021 Legends Series champion at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

“I grew up at the Fairgrounds watching my dad race. Now my son is watching me race. I started in Legends and worked my way up to Late Models. It is time the speedway got the attention is needs. Nashville is fortunate that the folks from Bristol see our potential. I am looking forward to the bright future and stability for me and my family.” – Daniel Bolden, Pro Late Model competitor at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway

“We are very excited that Bristol will be a part of Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville. Their experience in motor sports has a long and positive history. The City of Nashville and Bristol have worked long and hard to make this better for the fans and competitors and safer for the drivers. Bringing NASCAR back to Nashville is a huge win for Nashville.” – Mike Alexander, retired racer and two-time Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway champion

“As a Nashville native, the Fairgrounds has been part of my life since 1959. My track has been ignored for decades and now is the time to move forward. The Bristol opportunity will make this a first-class facility that will remove politics and provide stability for future generations. This is a win for everyone involved and a great deal for the citizens of Nashville. Nashville is blessed that Speedway Motorsports is bringing NASCAR back to Nashville.” – Norm Partin, longtime Nashville resident and creator of the hashtag #Nascar2Nashville
