Lochie Hughes Crowned F4 U.S. 2022 Driver Champion

Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Earns Fourth Team Championship; Bryson Morris Most Improved Driver

AUSTIN, Texas (November 8, 2022) – With the 2022 Formula 4 United States Championship Powered by Honda (F4 U.S.) season officially complete, Lochie Hughes was crowned the Driver Champion with Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport awarded the Team Championship at the annual F4 U.S. Awards Reception on Friday night. Bryson Morris took home the Catherine Crawford Most Improved Driver Award.

“It’s been incredible,” said Hughes of his season. “Winning a championship is what you dream of. We couldn’t have won it in any better style than winning the last two races, and that’s all thanks to the team. When I came over [to America] this season, I knew no one. The team welcomed me like family, and for us to win this championship—I can’t thank them enough. It’s been a great year.”

“It’s been a pleasure working with Lochie,” said Jay Howard, Owner of Jay Howard Driver Development. “I couldn’t ask any more from him. He was all-in. His parents aren’t here; he lives by himself. He’s dedicated and it shows every time he goes on track. I really appreciate all the hard work from the whole team this year; it really was a team effort. Lochie’s a well-deserved champion.”

Moving from his native Australia to America, Hughes was tagged by Jay Howard Driver Development (JHDD) to compete in the 2022 F4 U.S. season. After being out of the car for two years during the COVID-19 pandemic, Hughes was announced as one of the JHDD drivers just days before 2022 season began. In his debut season racing in America, Hughes led the F4 U.S. field with six wins on Hankook tires, and tied championship rival Bryson Morris for the most podium finishes of the year with 10 podiums.

As the 2022 Driver’s Champion, Hughes has secured a scholarship to compete in the 2023 FR Americas season. Valued at $215,000, the prize package includes an engine lease from Honda Performance Development (HPD), a chassis lease from Ligier Automotive, tires from Hankook Motorsports for all official sessions, entry fees and a marketing package from Parella Motorsports Holdings, as well as $25,000 from HPD. Other prizes include a Bell Athlete contract, a carbon Bell helmet, a custom OMP Racing suit, a bespoke Omologato timepiece, Haas F1 Team guest experience at the Miami Grand Prix, and an invitation to the FIA Prize Giving Ceremony at the conclusion of the season. In addition, the Australian has earned 12 FIA Super License Points to assist in his journey on the Road to F1.

Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport took their fourth Team Championship this season. Averaging 5.5 F4 U.S. entries per race, and with two drivers in the championship hunt through the final event, it was no surprise to see the Dallas-based organization take the team honors. Their win, however, didn’t come without its challenges. In fact, they had to battle back from being ranked second at the season’s halfway point to take the title with their stable of drivers. Throughout the course of 2022, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport drivers have secured five wins, seven runner-up finishes and six third-place results, for a total of 18 podiums. The award was accepted by team co-owners Garry Orton, Teena Larsen and Gill Kaszuba.

“That was probably the toughest one to earn in the years that we’ve been doing this,” said Orton at the banquet. “It went down to the last race, which is actually bloody good. It could have easily gone either way, so I’m proud of the team. Just a fantastic result.”

“We have such deserving champions this season,” said Scott Goodyear, Race Director for F4 U.S. “The battle that our F4 U.S. competitors put on all season was nothing less than impressive. We had remarkable side-by-side racing, clean passing and a tight championship battle. I’m sure Lochie [Hughes] will be an excellent representative of the talent that F4 U.S. develops, and I look forward to seeing where he goes from here.”

Bryson Morris was awarded with the Catherine Crawford Most Improved Driver Award. Selected by Ligier Automotive North America, Morris received not only a trophy, but also a $5,000 credit from Ligier.

“It was definitely unexpected, but I’m happy to receive the Most Improved Driver Award,” Morris said at the conclusion of the evening. “Thank you to Ligier for selecting me. It was a good season; we were second at the end, so I’m happy for the recognition and to get whatever help is available.”

TPC Racing Seals Top-Three Championship Finish, a Portugal Podium and Solid Race Results in Season-Ending Lamborghini Super Trofeo Grand Finals

  • TPC Racing’s International Competition Debut at the Portimão Circuit sees Wesley Slimp and Tyler Hoffman Secure Third-Place IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo Am-Class Championship Honors in the No. 9 HNTB Companies Lamborghini Huracán
  • Billy Johnson Competitive to the Finish in Pro-Class No. 71 DSC Sport/Erin Levitas Foundation Lamborghini Huracán

JESSUP, Maryland (November 8, 2022) – TPC Racing sealed a top-three championship finish, scored a Portugal podium and secured a string of additional strong race finishes in the team’s international competition debut in the Super Trofeo Grand Finals at the Algarve International Circuit in Portimão, Portugal. A nearly week-long schedule that began last Tuesday, Portimão was a dual event featuring both Friday’s IMSA Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America doubleheader finale and the weekend’s global Super Trofeo Grand Finals.

Although TPC has been victorious in internationally-recognized major races in North America – including a GT-class victory in the 2006 Rolex 24 At Daytona – the Super Trofeo extravaganza in Portugal was TPC’s first overseas competition in the team’s 20-year history.

The highlight came in Friday afternoon’s Super Trofeo North America final race of the season with Wesley Slimp and Tyler Hoffman locking down third place in the Am-class championship with a second-place race finish in the No. 109 HNTB Companies Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2. The runner-up result, combined with a solid fourth-place run in Friday’s first 50-minute sprint, was enough for Slimp and Hoffman to jump from fourth to third in the final 2022 Super Trofeo North America Am-class championship standings.

The No. 109 team and drivers also grabbed some of the international spotlight in Sunday’s Grand Finals race. Hoffman, who rolled off from the outside of row two after a strong fourth-place qualifying run, battled in the lead group from the drop of the green flag. As he and the other leaders cycled through pit stops, Hoffman led for a lap with 22 minutes remaining. He pitted from first place and handed the car off to Slimp who, after recovering from a spin on cold tires, crossed the finish line for a top-10 finish.

The best race result in the Grand Finals races for TPC came from Billy Johnson in the Pro-class No. 171 DSC Sport/Erin Levitas Foundation Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2. Johnson shook off a pair of frustrating Super Trofeo North America races Friday to finish sixth in Sunday’s Grand Finals race. The result was even more impressive considering Johnson and TPC battled through some handling and mechanical issues throughout the event, including a complete gearbox change overnight Friday.

With the scheduled racing year complete, TPC Racing now shifts focus to the 2023 season. Plans and programs are being finalized and will be announced in the near future.

Harris Levitas, TPC Racing Director of Race Operations: “The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Grand Finals event was absolutely fantastic to take part in for our TPC Racing team. The entire team worked incredibly hard all week long. It was not an easy feat for the team, but we got the job done. We started the week a bit behind with both cars chasing the setup. We ended up getting the No. 109 car of Wesley and Tyler sorted out pretty well. The guys had great qualifying results, and Wesley and Tyler ended up with a P2 finish in the North American finale, their second best result of the season, and that clinched for them and TPC third in the Am-class championship. They accomplished so much this year and really developed and grew as drivers all season. I am proud of them and it has been just so great to witness. Billy Johnson’s car had a few mechanical issues we chased throughout the week, that was really tough, but the team never gives up. They did an amazing job. Billy was able to come home in P6 on Sunday and was the second fastest American driver in the top 10. We are going to regroup for the winter and have some really great plans in store for the 2023 season. We really can’t wait to get the ball rolling again.”

Tyler Hoffman, Driver – No. 9 HNTB Companies Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2: “We finished P2 and P4 in the final rounds of the official Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America season. Hell of a drive by Wesley to lock it in for third in the championship and a huge thank you to the guys at TPC for working nonstop for a great car. Wesley and I worked hard every session, and with TPC Racing and Billy Johnson, our car kept getting better and better. The only thing I knew about Portimão before coming here was how magnificent it was. It lives up to all of the hype. This is my absolute favorite of the European tracks I have been to and – don’t tell Road Atlanta, my home track – but they are very close at the top of my list! Portimão is a phenomenal race track and we really, really love it there.”

Billy Johnson, Driver – No. 71 DSC Sport/Erin Levitas Foundation Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2: “Grand Finals race two was pretty fun. We started P11 and worked our way up to P6 while holding off much faster cars. We threw the kitchen sink at the car and it really didn’t change much, indicating a major underlying issue in the chassis. Our fastest lap was 14th fastest in the field, so the sixth place finish was pretty awesome. I can’t thank TPC Racing and Mike and Harris Levitas enough for the opportunity to drive for them this season. It has been a lot of fun to help the team develop and learn this platform and coach and help setup the other team cars this year. The whole crew has worked with a lot of heart and effort to overcome so many challenges this year out of their control to give me a competitive car.”

TOKYO, Nov 8, 2022 – (JCN Newswire) – Having already announced the return of the celebrated Hornet name to its line-up for 23 year model, today at EICMA in Milan, Honda unveiled its full European motorcycle range for the upcoming season.

Highlights include the return of another Honda legend, a totally new urban naked machine, and the unveiling of Honda’s first European EV two wheeler.

XL750 Transalp

Headlining the unveiling is the return to the Honda line-up of the evocative Transalp name in the shape of the XL750 Transalp.

Inheriting the spirit of its illustrious predecessor, the XL750 Transalp is designed to be at home anywhere – from the rush hour commute to an extended touring trip, from a dusty trail to an Alpine pass.

This all-round ability is derived from Honda’s brand new 755cc parallel twin engine that combines a substantial top end punch with mountains of torque in the low to mid rpm range plus engaging character and sound from its 270 degrees crank and new exhaust. Peak power of 67.5kW arrives at 9,500rpm, peak 75Nm torque at 7,250rpm.

Electronic aids running via Throttle By Wire allow the rider to choose between 5 riding modes to select their preferred combination of Engine Power, Engine Braking and Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC) with integrated Wheelie Control.

The new engine is housed in a lightweight steel diamond frame to offer light, nimble, confidence-inspiring handling in any situation. For supple on-road performance and off-road bump absorption the Transalp is equipped with Showa 43mm SFF-CATM USD forks and rear shock operating through Pro-Link. A 21in front wheel paired to a 18in rear delivers versatility both on or off-road.

The Transalp’s rich specification list is headlined by a 5-inch TFT colour display which vividly supplies all the crucial information and allows management of all systems. Connectivity is available for both Android and iOS devices via the Honda Smartphone Voice Control system. All lighting is LED; the indicators auto-cancel and also include Emergency Stop Signal technology to warn other road users of sudden braking.

Styling for the Transalp has been led by Honda’s Rome R&D centre, under the guiding principle of ‘Friendly Toughness’. The long-legged stance makes a strong statement of adventurous intent, while the fairing and screen work together to deliver wind protection without bulk. The overall look is sleek, simple and clean.

The Transalp will be available in three striking colours: Matt Iridium Gray Metallic, Matt Ballistic Black Metallic and a modern interpretation of the classic Ross White Tricolour.

EM1 e:

Due for release in summer 2023, the EM1 e: is the first Honda EV two wheeler for customers in Europe, and the first model to be unveiled following Honda’s announcement of its plans to introduce 10 or more electric motorcycle models globally by 2025. It is a significant first step towards meeting Honda’s stated aim of carbon neutrality for all its motorcycle line-up during the 2040s.

The ‘EM’ stands for Electric Moped , and the model is aimed squarely at a young demographic, looking for easy, fun urban transport. It is compact, flat-floored, with a smoothed styling that marks out its difference and unique identity within the Honda range. Perfect for short hops around town and for making journeys to work or college efficient, quiet and emission-free, the EM1 e: syncs neatly with modern expectations for urban mobility.

The EM1 e: is powered by the Honda Mobile Power Pack e:, which is built with a relentless focus on durability, reliability and quality. A single charge will offer a riding range of over 40km, and the Mobile Power Pack (MPP) is designed to withstand different temperatures, humidity levels, impacts and vibrations.. As its name suggest, the MPP is a swappable battery that can be easily removed from the EM1 e: for charging in the comfort of home.

CL500

Taking its inspiration from the Honda CLs of the 1960 and1970s, the funky CL500 combines retro charm with modern equipment and technology to create a totally new kind of modern urban naked in Honda’s line-up. A strong statement for any young rider looking to stand out from the crowd, it is designed to fit neatly into an owner’s lifestyle with the ability to handle the daily commute, a long weekend ride, or even some light off-road.

The CL500 uses Honda’s hugely popular and energetic A2-friendly 471cc parallel-twin cylinder engine, which produces 35kW of power and 43.3Nm of torque. Unique ECU settings and short final gearing deliver sharp and responsive acceleration from a standstill, all the way up through six-speed gearbox.

The horizontal design line runs from the distinctive round headlight with four LED bulbs, back through the cleanly rounded tank to the upswept exhaust muffler with its classic drilled stainless steel heat shield. Details such as side tank pads, thickly padded seat with embossed Honda logo, small circular LED indicators, high handle bars and rubber fork gaiters come together to create a look that has a fresh kind of charm different to any other Honda machine.

The tubular steel trellis-style frame is both a style statement and foundation of easy handling. Long-travel suspension comprises 41mm telescopic forks and adjustable rear shock while the wheels – 19-inch front and 17-inch rear – wear block-pattern tyres.

The CL500 comes in four eye-catching colours – Candy Energy Orange, Matt Laurel Green Metallic, Candy Caribbean Blue Sea and Matt Gunpowder Black Metallic, and a range of genuine Honda accessories are available ready for personalisation to an owner’s preference.

CMX1100T Rebel

As a 21st century bobber the CMX1100 Rebel has a dual personality, with a stripped-back style that speaks volumes with its minimalism. It’s been designed for a leisurely laidback cruise, but also turns its hand to an exciting riding experience when a twisty road presents itself, thanks to the performance and character of a 1,084cc parallel twin-cylinder engine tuned for super-strong bottom and mid-range torque.

For 23YM, the family is joined by a dedicated Touring version, the CMX1100T Rebel. The T stands for Touring, and the CMX1100T Rebel is designed to bring extra comfort and practicality for longer days on the open road. The comfort comes from the new bespoke front fairing and screen that offer greatly increased weather protection; the practicality is provided by the new set of top-hinged hard panniers that fit in perfectly with the overall look and offer a full 35 litres of carrying capacity.

The CMX1100T Rebel will be available in a striking Gunpowder Black Metallic paint scheme.

Forza 125 and Forza 350

The Forza name has long been a powerful force in Honda’s two-wheeled line-up, offering a premium mix of sporty and GT elements. Both the Forza 350 and Forza 125 boast an extensive standard equipment list including HSTC, electric screen adjustment, USB Type-C socket, underseat storage space for two full-face helmets, full LED lighting and Smart Key operation. The two smaller Forza’s were joined in Honda’s line-up by the premium luxury Forza 750 for 2020, and the compelling Forza recipe has attracted over 170,000 customers since the arrival of the Forza 125 in 2012.

For 23YM, a brand-new front fairing give both the Forza 350 and 125 an even more elegant and refined identity – with styling cues taken directly from the range-topping Forza 750. Led by the new chiselled dual LED headlights, the new front end creates an impression of energetic

sportiness and premium desirability. A redesigned instrument panel attractively mixes analogue and digital displays.

A new Forza 125 Special Edition has also been added to the line-up. It features red detailing on the seat stitching, instrument panel surrounds and logos, set on a Matt Cynos Gray Metallic paint scheme. Blacked-out pillion footpegs, stainless-steel floor plates and red wheels complete the look.

MSX125 Grom

Honda has already announced a host of new colours for 23YM that span its range from the SH125 to the GL1800 Gold Wing, touching several points in between, including the Neo Sports Cafe range of naked CBs, the X-ADV, CRF1100L Africa Twin and NT1100.

The latest machine to benefit from a new look is the pocket-sized funster, the MSX125 Grom. It gains two new colours for 23YM: Splendid Blue and Matt Dim Gray Metallic, which features unique gold wheels and “Big Logo” graphics. With its retro-cool style, quick-detach body panels, LCD instrument panel, air-cooled engine and five-speed gearbox, the MSX125 Grom is set to continue its fresh and fun journey across Europe next year.

Ken Thwaits Claims P4 for Franklin Road Apparel in Austin Season Finale

Austin, TEXAS – November 8, 2022 – Ken Thwaits rounded off a terrific season in the top-level TA Class at Circuit of The Americas in fine style with a hard charging drive to claim P4 at the checkered flag. It was the Mission Foods SpeedTour festival with all the racing action happening on Sunday, November 6. It was an impressive drive from the Franklin Road Apparel principal in the final round of the 2022 Trans Am presented by Pirelli Championship season and means he finishes the year with P4 overall in the Driver Championship.

Ken qualified the Franklin Road Apparel Showtime Motorsports Chevrolet Camaro in P6 in class with a time of 2:08:115, ahead of podium rival Amy Ruman in P8. The race start at COTA takes drivers uphill into Turn 1 with a “hole-shot” battle for on track real estate and that’s exactly what happened on Sunday when the TA race went green. Ken’s Camaro was caught in the fray, resulting in succumbing his position. He got to work and really started charging, climbing to P4 midway through the race and posting a best lap of 2:10:839 on Lap 14. However, despite losing his power steering, Tomy Drissi hung on for P8 with Amy Ruman claiming P6.

It was a clean race with no pace car required at any stage. Franklin Road crew chief Gary Selix told viewers to the live coverage from the pits that the Camaro was running great, something Ken confirmed when we spoke to him in the pit lane afterwards.

“The weekend was kind of a struggle for us. We couldn’t get the right setup on the car, and I just don’t have enough time at this track to be competitive. But we got caught up in the Turn 1 crash and fell all the way to the back of the pack – so what are you going to do? You’ve just got to put your head down and start putting down the best laps you can. That’s why we lift those weights, right?”

He went on, “I had Dylan Archer up on the bridge spotting for me and I asked him how we’re looking, he said it looks great Ken, so after that I was gone!”

All in all, it was a fine season for Ken who made the podium four times and was one of the most consistent progress development teams in the paddock. Ken picked up 23 points at COTA for a provisional total of 231 in the Championship. Well done Ken!

CORVETTE RACING AT BAHRAIN: Let’s Go Out with a Bang!

Final GTE Pro race in WEC sees Milner, Tandy going for second victory of season

DETROIT (Nov. 8, 2022) – Corvette Racing will put a cap on its first full year in the FIA World Endurance Championship with its initial trip to the Middle East for the season-ending Eight Hours of Bahrain.

As they have all season, Tommy Milner and Nick Tandy will pilot the No. 64 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R in Corvette Racing’s first trip to the Middle East. A new venue doesn’t intimidate the team as it has a victory at Monza in its Italian debut. Bahrain will be the 33rd different track for the Corvette program.

Another victory not only would close out the WEC season in the best way possible, but it also would put Corvette Racing in the history books as the winner of the final GTE PRO race in the championship.

The category has been part of the WEC since the 2011 season, and the technical regulations matched the GT Le Mans (GTLM) class in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship from 2014-2021. In the GTE/GTLM era, Corvette Racing has recorded 33 victories across WEC and IMSA competition.

The 3.363-mile, 15-turn Bahrain International Circuit is unique in multiple ways. It features less than 17 meters of elevation change over the course of a lap, and the entire lap – all but the exit of Turn Four – is run below sea level.

As expected, it’s a very arid circuit with desert sands and rocks bordering the racing tarmac and runoff areas. In many ways, Bahrain is similar to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca on the IMSA calendar. There, sand and dust constantly blow across the track surface which puts a premium on generating grip and maximizing tire life.

While the track surface at Bahrain is much smoother and less destructive to tires compared to Laguna Seca, the significantly warmer air and track temperatures at Bahrain compared to the Monterey Peninsula will make it a challenge to prevent sliding of the tires across the track surface. To that point, tire performance will play a significant role in the outcome of Saturday’s race.

The No. 64 Corvette opened the WEC season with a strong second-place showing at the rain-shortened 1,000 Miles of Sebring. Things were trending the right way for the Tandy/Milner pairing at the Six Hours of Spa before a red flag just past the one-hour mark wiped out the team’s first planned pit stop and effectively put the Corvette a lap down before finishing fourth.

The 24 Hours of Le Mans was a cruel blow with the No. 64 C8.R eliminated while leading just shy of the 18-hour mark. Spirits lifted within the team following a thrilling class victory at Monza where the team won a fuel-mileage race for its first WEC win outside of Le Mans. Milner and Tandy finished fifth on a challenging weekend at Fuji in September.

The Eight Hours of Bahrain for the FIA World Endurance Championship is scheduled for 2 p.m. Arabian Standard Time (AST) / 6 a.m. ET Saturday from the Bahrain International Circuit. Qualifying is set for 4:50 p.m. AST/8:50 a.m. ET on Friday. The race will air live on MotorTrend with live streaming coverage of the race and qualifying on the MotorTrend Plus app. Radio Le Mans will broadcast qualifying and the race.

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “The track surface at Bahrain is pretty unique in general. To simplify it, you have big stones and little stones, polished and unpolished. It’s totally different than anywhere else we go. From the sim work we’ve done, it feels like there is a lot of grip. From what other drivers and teams have said, it’s a track that is aggressive on tires. That correlates pretty well with what we’ve seen in the simulator. I’d imagine the first practice session will be quite difficult as we dust off the track a little bit. It’s a circuit that is a little bit like Fuji with some long-duration corners and medium- and high-speed stuff. There are lessons we took from Japan that can apply here. The track surface being unique and its characteristics will play a big role in the strategy for the race.”

“I’ve raced in the Middle East once before at Dubai, so I have a little bit of understanding of the culture. It sounds like Dubai and Bahrain are similar in some ways. The fans were awesome when I went and it was a cool place to go see, and I’m sure Bahrain is similar in many ways. I’m excited to get there.”

NICK TANDY, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “I raced at Bahrain for the first time in 2010 and went there twice before in WEC. I’ve never driven a GTE car around there so this will be fun. The effect of the sand on the tire and how the tire interacts with the surface… how each car reacts to the sand blowing around – and it does quite a lot – can affect things quite a lot. It’s one of the challenges. It can be very gusty and windy, and the direction can change. This is another factor with the high-downforce cars that we have. When it’s windy, it does have an influence on the race and it can change lap by lap.”

“It’s an interesting circuit and good for racing and good to drive. Bahrain rewards consistency because you see the highest level of tire wear of any track we go to. You have to have consistent and clean driving, and the track punishes overdriving. This is good because you always want to influence a race as a driver.”

“One of the good things there is that you have linked corners… corners where what you do in the first corner influences what happens in the next. You have places like turns One and Two and then you have the Esses in the middle of the track, and the fastest section is in the middle. You have to figure out how to best get time out of them, whether you give up time in the first part to improve the second section or second corner. That’s always nice as opposed to have a straight, a hairpin and then another straight. Those races are kind of car-defined whereas with these types of corners, you can as a driver affect more of what’s happening and affect the laptime.”

Flying Lizard Motorsports Crowned LB Cup Champions at Lamborghini Super Trofeo Portugal Finale

PORTIMAO, Portugal. (November 8, 2022) – Flying Lizard Motorsports secured its 16th professional sports car racing championship in Portugal this weekend, celebrating the success of Slade Stewart, driver of the No. 14/114 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo2. The team participated in the two-season finale races for the IMSA-sanctioned Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America championship with drivers Stewart and Tom Tait, driver of the No. 64/164 Lamborghini. At the conclusion of the North American championship, the group went on to compete in the Lamborghini Grand Finals against the manufacturer’s European series.

“This has been an extremely successful inaugural season in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Series for us and we couldn’t have written a better finish,” said Team Owner Darren Law. “I have to thank all of the Flying Lizard crew, our drivers Slade Stewart and Tom Tait, and Lamborghini Newport Beach for making this season both successful and fun. We raced in many different series, and I am very impressed with what Lamborghini Squadra Corse has put together. To come away with the number of wins, podiums, and a championship in our debut season shows the level of commitment and quality of the Flying Lizard organization and we look forward to announcing plans for 2023 very soon.”

The flowing turns of Algarve International Circuit in Portimão, Portugal offered the perfect landscape for the season-concluding event. The track’s sweeping elevation through the hills of the property created exciting racing for the competitors. Though the circuit was new to the entire Flying Lizard team, the drivers and coaches of the organization used the two days of testing early in the week to learn the circuit, preparing for the final championship showdown.

Tait, driver of the No. 64/164 Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo Evo2 had the best drive of his career at Portimão. Regardless of the final results, his performance in the final four races was some of his strongest of the season. Tait climbed as high as second place, setting the fastest laps of his rookie season in the Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America series. He earned his fourth top-five finish of the year in round one in Portugal. He came into his own, gaining a new level of comfort in the car, continuing his season-long progression to the front of the Am class. His growth as a driver in his rookie season provides strong momentum to whatever may lay ahead in 2023.

With three wins, Stewart and the pink unicorn Lamborghini entered the weekend leading the driver points battle in the Super Trofeo North America series. His weekend got off to a rough start in the final practice when the car lost control, spinning off the track. Extensive damage caused the points leader to miss both qualifying sessions, starting the pair of races from the rear of the field with a not-so-pink Lamborghini. A failure in the right rear axle took the points leader out of the opening race, closing his points gap over the field. In race two, Stewart drove from last to second place, securing the 2022 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America LB Cup driver championship title. Equally impressive and challenging was the battle for the Grand Finals title. With a win in race one and a close battle until the final lap of race two, Slade missed the title for the Grand Finals by just a few points and finished with second place in the championship, an impressive run against the combined group of US and European drivers.

Together, Tait, Stewart, and the Lizards earned 16 top-five finishes in 14 races, earning five pole positions, eight podium finishes, and four wins, making it a successful debut season for the team in the North American one-make championship.

Now entering the off-season, Flying Lizard Motorsports continues to solidify plans for their 2023 championship endeavors.

Slade Stewart

The US Finals and Grand Final championship races in Portimão were absolutely amazing. We had our challenges and had to fight really hard but in the end, we came away with the LB Cup championship and finished in second place in the Grand Finals championship. This series is the pinnacle of spec series racing and Lamborghini pulled out all the stops to make it an event to remember. I have to thank Flying Lizard Motorsports for the immaculate support, Andy Lee for the amazing coaching all season, and my wife and children for being so supportive of my racing programs.

Tom Tait

It was an epic week here in Portimão, Portugal for the Lamborghini Grand Finals, essentially the world championship. We had a fantastic result in the North American races with a fifth and sixth place finish in classes and ran as high as second place in race one. I had a fantastic time. The weekend was epic overall. The European races were difficult, challenging, and fun. That was some of the hardest racing I’ve done in a long time. I truly enjoyed it. I got to know the car and had some great coaching from Corey Lewis. Flying Lizard Motorsports is the best team in the business. My teammate Slade Stewart won the North American LB Cup championship, giving Flying Lizard and Lamborghini Newport Beach a fantastic victory in their first year. I look forward to more years of this type of challenging racing.

Veloce Racing announces new-look driver line-up for Season 2 finale and 2023 campaign

8 November 2022, London: Veloce Racing have announced that 2021 Extreme E Champion Molly Taylor and former JBXE star Kevin Hansen will form the team’s new driver pairing for the Season 2 finale in Uruguay, continuing onto Season 3.

Veloce Racing’s new line-up boasts considerable Extreme E pedigree, with Taylor securing the inaugural title with Rosberg X Racing (RXR) last term and Hansen taking five podiums from his eight X Prix appearances so far.

The upcoming Uruguay Natural Energy X Prix in Punta del Este will not be the first time the duo have been paired together, having linked up at this year’s season-opener in NEOM, Saudi Arabia, for JBXE.

Taylor and Hansen replace outgoing drivers Lance Woolridge and Christine GZ.

For Taylor, it is a welcome return to the series after claiming the title with Rosberg X Racing (RXR) in the championship’s inaugural season. Alongside Johan Kristoffersson in Season 1, Taylor helped secure three victories for Nico Rosberg’s team and returns to Extreme E with all the knowledge that comes with winning the series.

In early 2022, as well as competing for JBXE at the Desert X Prix, Taylor became the first Australian woman to drive the gruelling Dakar rally and will take part in the event again in 2023.

Molly Taylor, Veloce Racing, said: ”I had an incredible year with Extreme E in 2021 and I believe wholeheartedly in what the competition represents, both with respect to its commitment to sustainability and to gender equality.

“Having had the benefit of a win in last year’s championship, it feels amazing to know that I’m going to be back in the Extreme E paddock. I think we are building a very special team with the combination of Veloce’s ambition and experience, as well as Kevin’s skill and commitment. We are setting our targets high and I’m looking forward to being back in the action.”

As a driver for JBXE, Hansen achieved an impressive run of four podiums from his four appearances in the inaugural Extreme E season.

Hansen took over from former Formula One World Champion Jenson Button to partner Mikaela Åhlin-Kottulinsky, and the Swedish pairing finished third in the Season 1 standings. Third place finishes in Senegal, where Hansen made his debut in the championship, and Sardinia last year were topped by second place finishes at the Arctic and Jurassic X Prix, respectively.

Hansen carried this mantle into Extreme E Season 2, competing alongside Veloce Development Driver Hedda Hosås, who joined Button’s outfit in Sardinia. The Scandinavian duo secured third place in the first round of the NEOM Island X Prix double-header.

Hansen has also been a fixture in off-road racing for several years through his efforts in the FIA World Rallycross Championship. The Swede has secured event wins and multiple podiums and currently sits fourth in this year’s standings for HANSEN World RX Team. His highest FIA World Rallycross Championship standing was third in 2019, the season in which he secured his maiden victory in the series.

Kevin Hansen, Veloce Racing, said: “I am absolutely stoked to be joining Veloce Racing on a long-term deal starting in Uruguay.

“To join a team which is young, ambitious, modern in its ways and doing things that no other team does is fantastic for me. It’s a huge opportunity to continue in Extreme E for the next X Prix and for Season 3.

“The team has high ambitions, as do I and Molly. I am really happy to have her alongside me – we raced in Saudi Arabia together and had a great time. We work well as a pair and we’re looking forward to building a partnership between us and the whole team.”

Daniel Bailey, CEO and Co-Founder of Veloce Racing, added: “We’re delighted to welcome both Kevin and Molly to our Veloce family and we’re excited to see what the future holds for us together.

“The challenges of Extreme E are unique in the world of motorsport, and Veloce is continuously evolving to adapt to this fast-paced and innovative series. Next year promises to be the team’s biggest yet, but first we are looking to finish Season 2 on a real high.

“All of us here at Veloce Racing want to thank both Lance and Christine for their commitment and contributions to the team, and we wish them all the best going forward in their careers.”

Veloce Racing’s new driver line-up will take on the final race of the season in Punta del Este, Uruguay, later this month (26-27 Uruguay) as the team looks to end Extreme E Season 2 on a positive note.

About Extreme E:

Extreme E is a radical new racing series, which will see electric SUVs competing in extreme environments around the world which have already been damaged or affected by climate and environmental issues. The five-race global voyage highlights the impact of climate change and human interference in some of the world’s most remote locations and promotes the adoption of electric vehicles in the quest for a lower carbon future for the planet.

To minimise local impact, Extreme E races will not be open to spectators, with fans instead invited to follow the action through live TV broadcast, and on social media.

The St. Helena, a former passenger cargo ship, has undergone a multi-million Euro refit to minimise emissions and transform her into Extreme E’s operations hub. The ship will be used to transport the championship’s freight and infrastructure, including vehicles, to the nearest port, minimising Extreme E’s footprint, as well as being used to facilitate scientific research through its on-board laboratory.

Extreme E is also pioneering hydrogen fuel cell technology which will enable its race fleet to be charged using zero emission energy. This innovative solution from AFC Energy uses water and sun to generate hydrogen power. Not only will this process emit no greenhouse emissions, its only by-product will be water, which will be utilised elsewhere on-site.

Clazzio Seat Cover Benefits For Prius Cars

Photo by Sven D on Unsplash

Seat covers are an essential accessory for any car. Without a seat cover, you may be putting your car seats at a risk. The engine is the most important part of a car. Nonetheless, an engine can’t be seen, unlike seats. Seats may not contribute to the performance of your car, but it surely has an intangible effect on the performance.

The interior of your car is occupied majorly by seats. Having unattractive seats can affect your mood and driving experience. You do not want to go out on a date with such boring and faded seats. Instead, you want eye-catching and appealing seats so as to create a good first impression.

Should I Buy New Seats if my current seats don’t look good?

It depends on you. We cannot out rule that option. However, for most of us, buying new seats would go way beyond our budget. We recommend that you opt for seat covers. Clazzio produces some of the best seat covers. Nowadays, seat covers are produced in different colors with different materials. It not only protects your existing seats but also enhances the interior of your car.

Clazzio Seat Covers

As mentioned earlier, Clazzio is one of the best leather seat covers brands. It focuses on customer satisfaction by delivering products of the highest quality.

Benefits of Clazzio Seat Cover for Prius

Durability:  Clazzio seat covers last longer than other brands. This is because of the material that they use. These seat covers come with a 3-year or one warranty period depending on the type of material you choose.

Leather: Leather seat covers by Clazzio are considered as a bargain. These seats are made up of 100% pure leather unlike some brands that claim to use leather but they actually use a blend of leather and cheap material. Leather seat covers will give your Prius the royal look it needs. If you are looking to upgrade your Prius without wanting to spend a lot, leather seat covers are the way to go about it.

Color: Clazzio seat covers come in various colors. Depending on the interior of your Prius, you can choose any color that compliments the interior. The options are endless. One can get customized seat covers as well. You simply need to head to the website and drop an email. Clazzio representatives will get back to you.

Fitting: The engineers at Clazzio are very particular with fitting. They take exact measurements of the dimensions of the seats in different cars. As different cars have different setups and dimensions, Clazzio offers seat covers dedicated exclusively to your car model. For instance, you will find five different sets of seat covers for Prius. You simply need to select the right car model online and you shall get tailor-made seat covers.

Easy installation: The installation process is very easy and simple to follow. It would take you 2 to 3 hours to get done with everything. Since the process is a DIY, you can save a few dollars as you would not have to seek professional help. Seat covers from other brands require professional help and the process is lengthy. At times, it could take up to 2 days. With Clazzio, you have to simply follow the instructions, and Voila! You are done.

Easy to wash: As we know that Clazzio seat covers take only 2 to 3 hours to install, you can wash these covers anytime you like. Further, Clazzio leather seat covers are less porous. This is beneficial for those who have pets and kids. The next time your kid drops his orange juice on the seat, do not panic. Just wipe the liquid off of the seat.

Fun Facts About Lamborghini

Photo by Dylan Pirozek on Unsplash

Are you considering a Lamborghini lease? If so, it might be a good idea to know a few things about the brand – especially if this is your first time. Here are a few fun facts for you to think about while heading over to the dealership.

It’s Named After Ferrucio Lamborghini

He was the founder of the brand, which came into existence in 1963. Lamborghini was also a veteran, having served in the Italian Air Force as a mechanic. This is where he got his love for cars.

The First Models Were Not Cars, Though

It’s hard to imagine this company making anything other than sleek cars that grab people’s attention when passing by. They made tractors, first. Yes, you read that correctly.

He built the tractor out of discarded military vehicles and it proved popular. There is a reason why there are no Lamborghini tractors zipping around though. That reason was a man named Enzo Ferrari.

The Lamborghini Car Was Created Due to a Challenge

Yes, it was because of an argument between the Ferrari founder and Lamborghini about the Ferrari car’s clutch. At the time, Lamborghini was content to be in the agricultural business. That changed when the Ferrari founder couldn’t make a clutch good enough.

Lamborghini decided to make his own sports car to show what a car with a good clutch was capable of. This was a big risk, since he was mainly known as a tractor maker. It all worked out for him, though.

The First Lamborghini Shown At An Auto Show Had No Engine

Lamborghini was determined to show his new car at the 1963 Turin Auto Show. That meant that there was an incredibly tight window for them to design and build the car model. He had to leave out certain things … like an engine, since the one he had made didn’t fit.

He took it to the show and there were bricks underneath the hood. It was still enough to get the ball rolling and get people interested in his sports cars.

Another fact was that he initially balked at having a racing team, seeing the sport as a waste of time and gas. That changed later, but at first, he didn’t join Ferrari and Maserati on the racetracks.

The models were named after bulls, like Miura. Lamborghini was always a fan of bullfighting.

These are just a few facts that you can tell people about when driving around in your leased car. Enjoy.
