Ford Performance NASCAR: Homestead-Miami Playoff Advance

FORD PERFORMANCE NASCAR: HOMESTEAD-MIAMI PLAYOFF ADVANCE

Homestead-Miami Speedway plays host to three playoff races this weekend, including an elimination event that will determine the Championship 4 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, while the NASCAR Cup and NASCAR XFINITY Series conduct the second of three races in the Round of 8. Here’s a look at the weekend schedule and where Ford drivers rank in the current standings.

This Week’s Schedule:

Saturday, October 22 – NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, 1 p.m. (FS1)
Saturday, October 22 – NASCAR XFINITY Series, 4:30 p.m. (USA)
Sunday, October 23 – NASCAR Cup Series, 2:30 p.m. (NBC)

FORD IN THE NASCAR CUP SERIES AT HOMESTEAD

· Ford has a manufacturer-best eight series wins at Homestead-Miami.
· Joey Logano (2018) and Kevin Harvick (2014) have NCS wins at HMS.
· Greg Biffle won three straight years at HMS (2004-06).
· Roush Fenway posted five consecutive wins at HMS (2004-08).
· Jack Roush is second for the most owner wins in the series at HMS with seven.

ROUND OF 8 NCS PLAYOFF STANDINGS (Top 4 advance after Martinsville)

  1. Joey Logano (Clinched: Las Vegas Winner)
  2. Chase Briscoe -9
  3. Ryan Blaney -11

FORD IN THE NASCAR XFINITY SERIES AT HOMESTEAD

· Ford has eight series wins by eight different drivers at Homestead-Miami.
· Dale Jarrett won the first NASCAR race held at HMS (1995).
· Chase Briscoe is the last Ford driver to win at the track (2020).

FORD IN THE NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES AT HOMESTEAD

· Ford has six series wins by six different drivers at Homestead-Miami.
· Dave Rezendes won the first series race held at HMS (1996).
· Chase Briscoe is the last Ford driver to win at the track (2017).

ROUND OF 8 NCWTS PLAYOFF STANDINGS (Top 4 advance after Homestead)

  1. Zane Smith (+18)

LOGANO PUNCHES TICKET TO CHAMPIONSHIP 4

Joey Logano’s win last weekend at Las Vegas Motor Speedway clinched a spot in the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway. Logano, who won the title in 2018, has now made it into the final group five times during his career, ironically in even years (2014,’16,’18,’20,’22). The Team Penske driver has three wins this season, not including his season-opening victory in the Clash at the Coliseum non-points event. In addition, Logano is sixth on the all-time Ford Cup Series win list with 28, which is also the most for a Team Penske driver with Ford.

BRISCOE LOOKING TO JOIN SELECT COMPANY

Chase Briscoe is looking to join Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick as the only drivers who have won a race at Homestead-Miami Speedway in all three of NASCAR’s top touring series, Briscoe, who enters the weekend in sixth place, nine points behind fourth-place Denny Hamlin, captured the first win of has NASCAR career in 2017 at the season-ending Ford EcoBoost 200 NCWTS race and followed that up in 2020 with a victory in the NXS Contender Boats 250. Busch has three NCWTS wins (2010,’13,’20), two NXS victories (2009,’10) and two NCS triumphs (2015,’19). Harvick has one win in each series: NCWTS (2009), NXS (2004), and NCS (2014).

BLANEY LOOKING TO BOUNCE BACK

Ryan Blaney was a contender at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, leading 39 laps to close out the second stage and begin the third. However, he hit the wall on lap 229 and received enough damage that resulted in him finishing seven laps down in 28th place. As a result, Blaney goes into Sunday’s race at Homestead-Miami Speedway trailing by 11 points for the final Championship 4 transfer spot (seventh place). In seven career NASCAR Cup Series starts at HMS, Blaney has one top-10 finish with that being a third place run in 2020.

SMITH GOING FOR THIRD STRAIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP 4 APPEARANCE

Saturday is a scheduled elimination race for the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series as the field will be trimmed from eight to four at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Ford’s Zane Smith finds himself third on the playoff grid and 18 points ahead of fifth-place Christian Eckes. While this marks Smith’s first season with Ford and Front Row Motorsports, Smith is no stranger to the Championship 4, having qualified each of the past two seasons and finishing second in the final standings in 2020 and 2021.

HOMESTEAD-MIAMI IS TOPS FOR HARVICK

Kevin Harvick is good everywhere on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit, but statistically Homestead-Miami Speedway is his best. Harvick has finished fifth or better in seven of the last eight events on the 1.5-mile track. In 21 career starts at HMS, Harvick has completed all but two of the 5,613 laps run during that time and has an average finishing position of 7.3. That includes 18 top-10 and 12 top-5 efforts.

CUSTER AND BRISCOE RETURN TO SCENE OF FIRST VICTORIES

Homestead-Miami Speedway is sure to bring back good memories for Cole Custer and Chase Briscoe, who both earned victories on back-to-back days at the track in 2017. Briscoe won the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race to kickoff the weekend, marking the first national series victory in his rookie season while Custer dominated the NASCAR XFINITY Series race the following day, leading 182-of-200 laps, to post his first career series triumph.

FIVE-YEAR WIN STREAK HIGHLIGHTS ROUSH HISTORY AT HMS

Car owner Jack Roush has had his share of success on intermediate speedways, but his streak of winning seven times in nine years at Homestead-Miami is arguably one of the best. Kurt Busch won the organization’s first Cup race at the track in 2002 before Greg Biffle won three straight from 2004-06. That was part of a five-year winning streak that saw Matt Kenseth and Carl Edwards go to victory lane in ’07 and ’08, respectively. Edwards eventually capped the run by winning for a second time in 2010. Since then, Roush has celebrated NASCAR XFINITY Series championships at the track, twice with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in 2011 and 2012, and once with Chris Buescher in 2015.

Josh Berry Returns to JR Motorsports’ No. 8 Chevrolet for 2023 NASCAR Xfinity Series Season

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Oct. 18, 2022) – Fresh off a victory at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and a berth in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Championship 4, Josh Berry will return to JR Motorsports as driver of the No. 8 Chevrolet Camaro for 2023, the team announced today.

The soon-to-be 32-year-old Tennessee native has won a career-high three races this season in the No. 8 car, posting victories at Dover Motor Speedway in April, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in May and on Saturday at Las Vegas. In 52 series starts with JR Motorsports, Berry has earned five victories, 17 top-five and 32 top-10 finishes, and claimed a spot in the NXS Playoffs in his first year of eligibility. With the Vegas win, Berry becomes the first of four drivers who will race for a coveted series title in the Championship 4 at Phoenix Raceway next month.

“We’ve been lucky to have Josh spend so much of his career with JR Motorsports. He’s been successful at every level for us,” said team owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. “He’s performed well and won races in our cars, and now he’s contending for NASCAR championships. He established our Late Model team as a championship-caliber program and is now contributing to our Xfinity program. And I couldn’t be more proud to have him back at JRM in 2023.”

Berry began with JR Motorsports in 2010, when he campaigned all across the Southeast with the team’s legacy Late Model team, earning 94 victories. Combined with his NXS victories, Berry is just one win shy of 100 career wins under the JRM banner.

He won at Martinsville Speedway in his sixth NXS start in 2021 and again at Las Vegas in the NASCAR Xfinity Series Playoffs as a substitute driver in the team’s No. 1 car. That win helped propel the No. 1 team into the Round of 8 in the NXS owner’s title battle, and Berry’s success earned him a full-time ride for 2022.

“JR Motorsports has always been my home as a racer, and I’m proud to return to JRM and the No. 8 team for 2023,” Berry said. “When I came here, it was as a Late Model driver and mechanic, and when I got the opportunity to race full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, it was a dream come true. We’ll race for a series championship next month, and that’s nearly full-circle for me with the team. I can’t thank Dale, Kelley, LW and Mr. Hendrick enough for this opportunity.”

Berry has won three championships for the team, all in Late Models. He was the 2017 CARS Racing Tour driver champion, a year after earning the owner’s championship in the same series. In 2020, Berry earned the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series championship, the first for both himself and for JRM. He remains the only driver in JRM history to have earned multiple championships for the team.

Partners for Berry and the No. 8 team will be announced in the near future.

SKITTLES Lime is Back: Kyle Busch Homestead-Miami Advance

KYLE BUSCH
Great To Be ‘Back’

HUNTERSVILLE, North Carolina (Oct. 18, 2022) – There are many reasons why Kyle Busch is looking forward to getting “back” to Homestead-Miami Speedway for Sunday’s 400-miler.

Busch, driver of the No. 18 SKITTLES Lime is Back Toyota Camry TRD for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), returns to South Florida filled with great memories at the 1.5-mile oval, where he has a pair of very special race wins that earned him the title of NASCAR Cup Series Champion in both 2015 and 2019.

Not only has Busch enjoyed plenty of success of intermediate tracks, in general, he’s been in the thick of several Cup Series championship battles at Homestead. He was one of the final four playoff drivers each of the last five seasons the championship race was held at Homestead until it was moved to Phoenix Raceway in 2020. Busch brought home the aforementioned titles in 2015 and 2019 at Homestead, and was the runner-up in 2017. His worst finish in his five-year Championship 4 run at Homestead was sixth place in the 2016 race.

With two wins and four top-five finishes at Homestead over the past seven seasons, Busch has become a strong contender at the variable-banked oval. But the SKITTLES Lime is Back driver hasn’t always been so strong on his visits to Homestead. His first seven starts there netted just one top-10 finish and only one other top-20. But starting with a fourth-place run there in 2012, Busch has reeled off five top-five finishes and nine top-10s in his last 10 starts at Homestead, topped of course by his impressive championship-clinching runs in 2015 and 2019, forever to be fond memories for the Las Vegas native.

With Skittles back on board Busch’s No. 18 Toyota Camry TRD this weekend, the brand will use the opportunity to highlight the return of its Lime flavor due to fan demand after an eight-year hiatus. Race fans can grab packs of Skittles featuring the reinstated Lime flavor at retailers across the country, and enjoy them while following this weekend’s racing action in South Florida.

As Busch heads to Homestead for Sunday’s 400-mile event, the SKITTLES Lime is Back driver may not have that familiar championship-race pressure to deal with, but he’s most certainly aiming to bring home his third Cup Series win at a place that has provided so many great memories over the years.

KYLE BUSCH, Driver of the No. 18 SKITTLES Lime is Back Toyota Camry for Joe Gibbs Racing:

Safe to say returning to Homestead brings back great memories for you?

“For sure. Obviously, any time you go back to a place where we got to celebrate not one, but two championships, those are great memories I will have, and my family will have, forever. It’s also just a fun place to race. I don’t think there’s any driver who doesn’t get excited to race there, you just have some many options on where to run. We’ve been very good there the last 10 races or so and hoping we can get our SKITTLES Lime is Back Camry TRD back to victory lane there. Would be special to get one more win with JGR and with Mars before we close the season out together.”

From your experience, how has Homestead changed over the last several years?

“The track seems to have aged a little more in recent years, for sure. Definitely a lot of grip for the first few laps, and then it really tapers off, and then everybody is running up next to the fence. I think that’s what we saw in years past. As it got darker in the November races, the track seemed to widen out. It’s just during the day, when it’s hot out and it’s slick out, that the best you can do is run right next to the wall, so expecting some of that this weekend with it being a little bit earlier in the fall. It’s definitely still a racey joint, but track temperatures are very conducive to that. It was definitely different racing there the last couple of years and not having it be for a championship, but it’s always going to be a place where it would be nice to get our SKITTTLES Lime is Back Toyota Camry TRD to victory lane.”

Has Homestead always been a fun track for you?

“Homestead is a fun racetrack, for sure. I didn’t run well there early in my career, but we were able to really step up our performance and we had some big wins there to show for it. It’s really challenging because of the way the race changes from the beginning to the end, and the way things change from the beginning to the end of your runs. You run the bottom, then you go to the top. You’re always moving around. You’re always thinking.”

Notes of Interest:

● All in the Stats:Busch has two wins, five top-five finishes and 10 top-10s and has led a total of 465 laps in 17 career Cup Series starts at Homestead. Busch’s average Homestead finish is 15.4.

● Homestead Turnaround: Busch did not take very well to the 1.5-mile South Florida oval at the start of his career. In fact, he didn’t record a top-five finish during his first seven starts there, including six finishes of 19th or worse. In 2012, Busch started to turn the corner when he recorded his first Homestead top-five. The Las Vegas native elevated his game there to a whole new level in 2015 when he not only won for the first time, but brought home his first Cup Series title that day. Starting with that 2015 victory, Busch has not finished outside the top-10 in those seven starts, which includes the two victories among five top-fives.

● 1.5-Mile Success: The two-time Cup Series champion has totaled 16 wins at 1.5-mile tracks among his 60 career victories in NASCAR’s top series.

● First Title Memories: Busch’s road to his first Cup Series title in 2015 was anything but ordinary. He showed a lot of heart and confidence leading into the Homestead finale that season, but the year started with Busch missing the first 11 races while recovering from leg and foot injuries suffered in February’s NASCAR Xfinity Series season opener at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway. The No. 18 driver rallied back from injuries to not only score enough points to qualify for the playoffs, he won four regular-season races in the process. Just being able to be Championship 4-eligible at Homestead was quite the feat for Busch and the No. 18 team. Playing with house money, so to speak, Busch drove impressively that November day, leading six times for a total of 41 laps and bringing home the title that seemed so unlikely earlier in the year.

● Close Calls: While Cup Series championships in 2015 and 2019 were memorable for Busch, he also had some close calls that could have netted him additional championships to celebrate at Homestead. In 2016, championship contenders Carl Edwards and Joey Logano got into a late-race accident that opened the door for another title for Busch. However, after heading to pit road for the last stop of the day, Busch rejoined the race too far back for a realistic shot to win with only a two-lap shootout left to go. Things looked good again in 2017, when Busch led 43 laps, but an untimely caution flag waved while he was a half-lap ahead of the next title contender. Busch rallied from just inside the top-10 but could not catch his now-JGR teammate Martin Truex Jr., who won the race and the championship with Busch finishing just .681 of a second behind in the runner-up spot.

● 224 and Counting: Busch will be aiming to add to his record 224 overall wins among NASCAR’s top three series this weekend at Homestead-Miami. In addition to his 60 Cup Series wins and 102 in the Xfinity Series, Busch has 62 wins in the Camping World Truck Series.

CORVETTE RACING RETURNING TO IMSA, FIA WEC IN 2023

Corvette C8.R to feature in GTD PRO stateside, GTE Am in FIA WEC

DETROIT (Oct. 18, 2022) – In its 25th season of top-level endurance racing, Corvette Racing will continue its long-running commitment to the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2023 as part of the GT Daytona (GTD) PRO class while taking on a new challenge by transitioning into GTE Am competition in the FIA World Endurance Championship.

For the second year in a row, Corvette Racing will enter one car in each of sports car racing’s most prestigious championships. The premier races in the world will be part of the schedule for the Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R including the Rolex 24 At Daytona, 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, among others.

“We learned a great deal this year about running dual programs in both IMSA and the FIA WEC – all of which will benefit the Corvette brand going forward,” said Laura Wontrop Klauser, GM Sports Car Racing Program Manager. “In IMSA, we will return to GTD PRO against a very competitive group of manufacturers while laying the groundwork for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R. Similarly, Corvette Racing’s FIA WEC program allows us the opportunity to continue growing the global presence of Corvette in a world championship.”

FIA WEC: Catsburg, Keating form partnership in GTE Am

The Corvette C8.R will again join the grid in the World Endurance Championship as a full-time entry, this time in GTE Am. The C8.R will be driven by Nicky Catsburg, who moves to full-time duty in a Corvette for the first time, and highly successful Bronze driver Ben Keating – widely considered one of the world’s best privateer drivers.

The sporting rules of the GTE Am category require at least one Bronze-level driver, as rated by the FIA. One professional-level driver is allowed along with a second Bronze or Silver-rated driver. Corvette Racing will confirm the final member of the WEC lineup at a later date.

The trio will contest the full seven-race WEC calendar including the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.

Keating is a past winner at Le Mans, Daytona, Sebring and many of the other premier races in WEC, IMSA and Intercontinental GT Challenge. The personable Texan began racing in 2006 and quickly established a reputation as one of sports car’s fastest and most reliable amateur drivers in both prototype and GT categories. He races with the support of Four Horsemen Racing and Wynns.

While Keating will race a Corvette for the first time, Catsburg has established himself as a fixture with the marque. Since joining the program in 2020, Catsburg recorded a victory at Daytona in 2021 and Sebring this year alongside Antonio Garcia and Jordan Taylor.

The 2023 campaign will be Catsburg’s first in the World Endurance Championship since 2019. He also has wins in long-distance races at the Nürburgring, Spa and Indianapolis Motor Speedway, among other venues.

Garcia, Taylor back in IMSA GTD PRO full-time

With two championships in three years together, the aforementioned Garcia and Taylor will reunite for another run at the GTD PRO title in 2023.

Like this year’s effort, the familiar yellow Corvette will run in a modified state to fit the C8.R in the performance window of GT3 cars that make up both the GTD PRO and regular GTD entries in the WeatherTech Championship. The 2022 season was a learning experience for both Corvette Racing and IMSA as the two groups work together on balancing the C8.R and the rest of the GTD category from technical and competitive standpoints.

The victory at Sebring for Garcia, Taylor and Catsburg was the highlight of the 2022 season, which also included runner-up finishes at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park and VIR.

Garcia is a five-time IMSA champion dating back to 2013. He has made 136 starts with the program since joining as a long-distance driver in 2009. Among his career highlights include two Rolex 24 wins, two Le Mans wins and five victories at Sebring.

Taylor is a four-time IMSA champion with two coming in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) ranks with Garcia in 2020 and 2021. He joined Corvette Racing in 2012 as a long-distance third driver and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2015. He moved to a full-time role in 2020 – the same season the C8.R made its competition debut.

Milner back to IMSA, focusing on GT3 development

Tommy Milner, currently contesting the full WEC for Corvette Racing, will take over the endurance driver role in the WeatherTech Championship for 2023. He will drive with Garcia and Taylor at Daytona, Sebring and the 1,000-mile Petit Le Mans.

Milner also will serve a key role as the primary testing and development driver for the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which will be available to customer racing teams starting in 2024.

Milner made his 130th start with Corvette Racing at the most recent WEC round at Fuji and has been part of the program as a full-time driver since 2011. He is a two-time IMSA champion, claimed a pair of victories at Le Mans and scored his first WEC race victory – outside of Le Mans – in July at the Six Hours of Monza.

Chevrolet is in the midst of an extensive development program for the Z06 GT3.R using both on-track testing and the manufacturer’s Driver-in-the-Loop simulator. The latter has been the focus for more than a year as Corvette Racing continues to refine items such as chassis platform, traction control, ABS and other tools that are features of GT3 racing.

The Corvette Z06 GT3.R will leverage the strong foundation provided by the mid-engine Corvette Z06 supercar. The Z06 GT3.R will share the same aluminum chassis, a production engine modified for use in the racecar, and similar aerodynamic features.

At the heart of the Z06 GT3.R is a 5.5-liter, DOHC LT6 V8 engine with the same flat-plane crankshaft architecture that powers the Corvette C8.R and the production Corvette Z06.

Corvette Racing’s 2023 IMSA campaign kicks off with the Rolex 24 At Daytona on January 28-30, while the FIA WEC season begins with the 1,000 Miles of Sebring on March 17.

NICKY CATSBURG, CORVETTE C8.R FOR FIA WEC IN 2023: “It’s been my goal from the get-go when I joined the team to be a full-time Corvette Racing driver. It’s super-cool to do races like Daytona, Sebring, Le Mans and Petit Le Mans. But I knew that I always wanted to do something full-time with the team. I’m super happy and proud that it’s happening and that I can call myself a full-time Corvette driver. It’s super-nice. It’s a dream come true and I can’t wait to get this going.”

“WEC is a cool program. You get to travel around the world and race at some of these great tracks. Ben is the best Bronze driver out there right now and consistently performs very well. I will miss GTE Pro because it was great fun being part of factory racing at Le Mans. But I’m excited to start working with Ben. I’ve been seeing him around for a number of years and he always does a fantastic job. I’m looking forward to this. This is a place that any driver wants to be.”

BEN KEATING, CORVETTE C8.R FOR FIA WEC IN 2023: “I really love the format of the World Endurance Championship and GTE Am. I’ve really wanted to race a Corvette for a long time and have been chipping away at this to make this happen because I want to race what I sell. I’m in the unique position of enjoying cars as a vocation and a recreation. This is something I’ve been dreaming of for a long time. I’m incredibly excited for this opportunity.

“I know that Corvette Racing is really excited about the program and I am too. There’s just something special about the 100th anniversary of Le Mans, the last year of GTE-spec cars and something special with an American driver racing for an American team. I’m excited that when – not if! – we win a race that we will hear the U.S. National Anthem. I haven’t had that because I’ve driven for British and German teams. So this will be awesome. The Corvette fans are crazy and fanatical! Getting to represent a brand that I sell and be part of that community is something that’s important to me and I’m excited about it all the way through.

“My number one thing about teammates is that I’m doing this for recreation and for fun, so I really want to enjoy who I’m racing with. Having been teammates with Jeroen Bleekemolen for a number of years and both of them being Dutch, Nicky was kind of always around! So I’ve always felt a good connection with Nicky. Even though we’ve never been teammates, I’ve paid attention very closely to him. I remember him testing a Corvette for the first time at Le Mans, and I wasn’t surprised when he went out and set the fastest GT lap of anyone in the field on the Test Day! So he is fun to watch. He’s extremely quick and is someone who knows all the tracks in the WEC and is someone I get along with extremely well. I’m super excited to be teamed with him.”

ANTONIO GARCIA, CORVETTE C8.R FOR IMSA IN 2023: “America has become a second home for me since I started with Corvette Racing in 2009. I enjoy the people, I enjoy the racing and I enjoy this Corvette. IMSA has a lot of great events and tracks – all of which I’m very familiar with now!

“I have to say that this season was very difficult and challenging, maybe more than previous years. Still I think we learned a lot as drivers and as a team about a new category that we can use to make us better in 2023. Hopefully Jordan and I can get back to winning races and being in the championship fight. It also will be an important year as we get closer to finishing testing and development of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which will be a big deal. I’m happy that Tommy will be part of that and with us for the big races in America. We were teammates in his first year at Corvette and we’ve raced against each other in previous versions of the Corvette since then. I’m glad to be able to race with him again.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, CORVETTE C8.R FOR IMSA IN 2023: “It’s great to be back with Corvette Racing for its 25th year. I remember as a kid watching my dad race, and Corvette already had a strong reputation for being competitive and winning big races. So it means a lot to be able to continue on with Antonio, Tommy and the rest of the team in 2023.

“We definitely want to be back stronger at Daytona than how we left Petit Le Mans. We had some decent races – winning Sebring in a Corvette was unreal – but I think we all were frustrated with how things went as a whole. We have an opportunity to improve on some things that we can control, which is what this team is so good at doing. By the time we get back to Daytona in January for the Roar, I’m confident we’ll be in a position to succeed to a greater level than a year ago.”

TOMMY MILNER, CORVETTE C8.R FOR IMSA AND Z06 GT3.R DEVELOPMENT DRIVER IN 2023: “I’ve not driven a lot in my career with Jordan or Antonio. But when I have, we’ve had success. I’m always excited to drive with those two guys. They’re obviously great drivers and great teammates, and they have been for a long time. I’ve raced against them quite a bit in my time so it’ll be fun to be teammates with them for a change.

“The process of developing the Corvette Z06 GT3.R will be an interesting one. I did quite a bit of this with the C7.R and C8.R. It’s different from racing of course, but it can be a rewarding process in its own right. This year was fun because it was something totally different. Next year will be something different again, and that’s a good thing to do different things every now and then. It’s an honor to be a part of this racing team and program. Having been part of testing many of the previous Corvettes, we’ve seen how fast and competitive those cars are. I’m excited and looking forward to keeping that lineage going.”

Busch Light Racing: Kevin Harvick Homestead Advance

KEVIN HARVICK
Homestead Advance
No. 4 Busch Light Ford Mustang for Stewart-Haas Racing

Event Overview

● Event: Homestead 400 (Round 34 of 36)
● Time/Date: 2:30 p.m. EDT on Sunday, Oct. 23
● Location: Homestead-Miami Speedway
● Layout: 1.5-mile oval
● Laps/Miles: 267 laps/400.5 miles
● Stage Lengths: Stage 1: 80 laps / Stage 2: 85 laps / Final Stage: 102 laps
● TV/Radio: NBC / MRN / SiriusXM NASCAR Radio

Notes of Interest

● Kevin Harvick has made 21 career NASCAR Cup Series starts at Homestead-Miami Speedway and only recorded one victory, but it was his most memorable win. When Harvick crossed the stripe first in the 2014 Ford EcoBoost 400 with a half-second margin over second-place Ryan Newman, Harvick became the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series champion. Harvick led four times for 54 laps in that race – second only to Jeff Gordon’s 161 laps led – to take his fifth win of the season and the 28th of his career. With 60 career Cup Series wins – 37 of which have come with Stewart-Haas Racing – Harvick is tied with Kyle Busch for ninth on the all-time Cup Series win list. Next on the all-time win list is NASCAR Hall of Famer and seven-time series champion Dale Earnhardt with 76 victories.

● In 13 of the last 14 NASCAR Cup Series races at Homestead, Harvick has finished among the top-10. And in seven of his last eight starts at the 1.5-mile oval – including last year when he delivered a fifth-place result – Harvick has finished among the top-five. A lone 26th-place finish at Homestead in 2020 is his only result outside of the top-10 in the last 14 years. To see the last time Harvick had finished outside the top-10 at Homestead meant going all the way back to the 2007 Ford 400 when George W. Bush was president and Harvick finished 19th. All but five of the 43 drivers in that race have officially retired from fulltime racing in the NASCAR Cup Series and eight have been inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame – Dale Jarrett (Class of 2014), Bill Elliott (Class of 2015), Mark Martin (Class of 2017), Jeff Gordon (Class of 2019), Bobby Labonte (Class of 2020), Tony Stewart (Class of 2020), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (Class of 2021) and Matt Kenseth (Class of 2023).

● Of the 5,613 laps available to Harvick in his 21 career NASCAR Cup Series starts at Homestead, he has completed all but two of those laps. He has led 414 laps and scored 12 top-fives and 18 top-10s to earn an average finish of 7.3. When it comes to top-fives and top-10s, no other driver is even close to Harvick. His closest competitor in top-fives at Homestead is Martin Truex Jr., with seven top-fives, which ties Truex with Jeff Gordon, the retired, four-time Cup Series champion. The active Cup Series drivers closest to Harvick in top-10s at Homestead are Truex and Denny Hamlin with 11 top-10s apiece. They still need two more top-10s to tie the driver with the second-most top-10s at Homestead – Gordon, who has 13 top-10s.

● Homestead is considered an intermediate racetrack, which has proven to be the bread and butter of Harvick’s NASCAR Cup Series success. Of his 60 career NASCAR Cup Series wins, 24 have come at intermediate tracks, and those tracks include Homestead (one win), Las Vegas (two wins), Atlanta Motor Speedway (three wins), Kansas Speedway in Kansas City (three wins), Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway (three wins), Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth (three wins), Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn (six wins), Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California (one win) and the defunct Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois (two wins).

Kevin Harvick, Driver of the No. 4 Busch Light Ford Mustang

What was your greatest race?

“I think the single best race has to be Homestead of 2014, just with the way everything went and the great call and the race at the end and everything that happened with coming to Stewart-Haas Racing that first year. All the adversity that we had at the beginning of the year, how fast the cars were, and then putting it all together in one day to win the championship, I think that single race is probably the one that I would circle just because of everything that happened and everything that it summarized and wound up, ultimately, with a championship at the end.”

Talk about that day, and the nerves and the preparation.

“If I could just show up and run the race and hang out with my team and do all the things that I want to do, it would’ve been fantastic. From the time I got off the driver intro stage and got in the car, once I got in the car it was fine. But the rest of it, I had to talk to myself throughout the day because it’s all stuff that you’d rather not do but you really have no choice, so you try to check the box and get to the point of actually doing what you actually like to do which, of course, is driving the car. From that standpoint, I knew what I was getting into. Tony (Stewart) kind of sat me down after we won Phoenix – actually he sat DeLana down – and said, ‘This is what he needs to do. This is what needs to happen this week. This is how it’s going to go. He’s going to be miserable all the way up until he gets into the racecar because he’s going to have to do stuff all week that he doesn’t want to do, so you just have to know that you’re getting into that and manage it.’ I just checked all the boxes and got in the car and it all worked out.”

What was the vibe like at Homestead back when it was the championship finale?

“I think a lot of that is, ‘Alright, this is the last one, finally we get to take a break.’ You know, it’s been a long year when you would get to that point and I think, as you go to Homestead now, it’s not in that same position, but it’s still a really meaningful race to be successful at.”

What are your expectations now when you race at Homestead?

“You better run the wall. That’s just going to be part of it. It’s the best way around Homestead. But I think as you look at this car, it’s a little more durable than what we’ve had with the old car as far as rubbing the wall and things like that, so you can be a little bit more aggressive with putting the car where it needs to be on the racetrack – at least I can in my thought process. I’m sure I’ll do something that won’t be right, but I think you have to be comfortable running up there.”

A lot of drivers call Homestead their favorite track. They like its layout, its banking and what they’re able to do with their racecar through the track’s corners. Are you one of those drivers who is pro-Homestead?

“I am. Homestead is a great racetrack because it’s just so different than all the other mile-and-a-half racetracks that we go to. It’s just got unique entries and exits to the corners that were designed for the flat track that it started as. The way that the asphalt has aged, the fast line for our Busch Light Ford Mustang is going to be right up against the wall, and to be able to carry that momentum through the corners as the tires wear out.”

Is it good to have Homestead a part of the playoffs, as it’s a unique track that helps diversify the playoffs?

“There are just certain tracks that have to be in the playoffs every year, maybe not in the same spot, and certain tracks that are good to host that championship race, and I think Homestead is one of those because it’s so different and so unique. It definitely needs to be in the playoffs and definitely needs to be in the conversation of racetracks that can host the championship race. It’s a great market for us, and who doesn’t like going to South Florida when it’s not way too hot. For me, I enjoy that and it’s definitely worthy of being in the playoffs.”

Can success at other intermediate tracks translate to Homestead, or is Homestead a track of its own?

“I think it’s its own thing. You have to have different things in your car to keep the tires on it, and you have to run in a different spot on the racetrack in order to make good lap times. So, it’s definitely a place that’s a little bit different than most.”

Mexico City. 18 October 2022 – Former racing legends will return to the racetrack to compete head-to-head in a spectacular support race for this year’s FORMULA 1 MEXICO CITY GRAND PRIX 2022 Presented by Heineken. A mix of international champions and race winners will return to the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez to take part in the Freightliner Legends Cup.

The late 1990´s and early 2000´s marked a golden era for American open-wheel racing and the IndyCar Series included the ‘world’s greatest spectacle in racing’ the famous Indianapolis 500.

The former race winners and champions returning to Mexico will drive in equally prepared 500hp V8-powered cars from the Gran Turismo México Series (GTM), capable of speeds of over 275km/h.

The full list of participants for this exciting support race over the F1ESTA weekend will be:

Adrián Fernández (Mexico)

The 5 Most Sought After Used or New SxS Parts

The SXS market is booming, with many new players entering this field daily. The most sought-after used or new SXS parts combine quality and affordability. If you’re looking to replace your stock SXS parts with something new and improved or just buy a used part for your personal use, then these are the five most sought-after used or new SXS parts:

1. Spare Tire Mount

The spare tire mount is a metal bracket that holds your spare tire. It is usually attached to the rear of the vehicle but can also be found on the top or in the back of the trunk. The purpose of this part is to secure one end of a spare tire to your vehicle so you can use it if needed.

Spare tire mounts come in several different shapes and sizes depending on when they were made, but they all have some things in common:

• They are made from steel (or another sturdy material), so they can hold up under heavy stress

• They have holes for bolts where a jack will fit into place when you are changing out your flat tires

2. Front Windshield

The front windshield is one of the most common parts to break side by side. However, it is easy to replace, so you don’t have to go without your vehicle for long. You can also find used or new front windshields online at any collection of SxS parts websites, making it easy to get the right part for your vehicle.

Replacing a front windshield is straightforward as long as you have access to basic tools and instructions. It will take less than an hour from start to finish; all that’s required is removing five screws, prying out two plastic clips (with a flathead screwdriver), popping in the new part, and securing it with those same five screws.

3. Roof

The roof of a bow is almost as important as the limbs themselves, and it is an often overlooked area in terms of performance and aesthetics. Roofs can be made from fiberglass, carbon fiber, or Kevlar depending on what you are looking for.

The most popular roof material is fiberglass because it’s affordable, durable, and easy to work with. However, while carbon fiber roofs offer better performance than their counterparts due to their lower weight, they tend to be more expensive due to manufacturing costs. On the other hand, kevlar roofs are lightweight but expensive, considering how heavy they are compared to other materials used for bows’ “tops.”

Roofs are made-to-order so if you have something specific in mind when purchasing one, then make sure it has been pre-ordered by your local retailer before going there!

4. Rear Windshield

The rear windshield is a common part that breaks on side-by-side vehicles. It can happen in accidents or just through everyday use. The good news is that it’s easy to repair if you have the right tools and parts.

The rear windshields are available in used and new versions. In addition, both glass or polycarbonate rear panels are available in stock for most models at low prices, guaranteed to save you money over other dealers’ prices on used or new SxS parts.

5. Skid Plates

Skid plates help to protect the engine, transmission, and fuel tank from rocks and other debris thrown up by tires. Skid plates are useful for off-road driving but are also available for street use. Skid plates can be made of metal or plastic and are available for many different SxS models.

Conclusion

Some sellers can be generous with their prices but offer low-quality products, while others will charge more than necessary just because they think people will pay it without thinking twice. Don’t fall into this trap by paying too much money for something that doesn’t meet all your expectations or needs; always consider all aspects before making such an important decision.

When choosing what you want to buy, keep in mind the quality to ensure that the part doesn’t work well and lasts long and the cost. Knowing some of the most sought-after used or new SxS Parts in the market is important.

How Video Annotation Improves AI Applications for Sports

Undoubtedly, AI applications are becoming increasingly popular in the sports world. However, one of the challenges with using AI in sports is a lack of high-quality data to train the AI models.

It is where video annotation comes in. By manually annotating past game videos, AI can be trained to recognize patterns and make predictions. It can be time-consuming for the in-house staff. Hence, it is better to outsource video annotation services.

It can help teams better understand their strengths and weaknesses and make the necessary adjustments to improve their performance in the following ways.

Object Detection and Tracking

Video Annotation can help AI systems better understand players’ actions in a video. It is because manually labeling objects in a video can provide more information about the context of an action and you can learn more about it at oworkers. For example, if a computer vision system is trained to recognize soccer players, it will be able to understand players’ actions better if it knows the ball’s position in each frame.

Activity Recognition

Activity recognition is identifying and labeling individuals’ activities from data collected by sensors or other devices. For instance, if a player uses a heart rate monitor, the activity recognition system can identify when the player is running, walking, or resting. This information can better estimate the player’s energy expenditure and optimize their training.

Hence, AI algorithms can use video annotation to understand better and recognize different activities, such as a player shooting a basketball or a coach giving instructions to his team.

Player Identification

AI can track players’ movements, analyze their playing styles, and predict their future performance. However, getting accurate data is one of the challenges in using AI for player identification. Tracking players’ movements require access to video footage of them playing, and this cannot be easy to obtain.

One solution to this problem is to use a video annotation service. A video annotation service can provide accurate data about players’ movements by manually annotating the video footage. This data can then train and improve AI player identification algorithms.

Future Action Prediction

One way that AI applications can be improved for sports is by using manual future action prediction. It involves a person predicting what they think will happen in the future and then inputting this information into the AI system. It can help the AI system better understand the game and predict what will happen next.

It is especially useful in sports, where there are a lot of variables, and it can be difficult for the AI system to take all of them into account. Hence, video annotation services can give the AI system a better understanding of the game, leading to improved performance.

If you are looking for ways to improve the AI applications for Sports, the dedicated and professional services of Mindy Support are there to help you out!

Conclusion

Data Annotation (Video annotation) is the process of adding labels or tags to video data to improve the accuracy of AI applications. In the context of sports, sports teams can use video annotation to identify specific events, players, or movements in a game. This information can train AI algorithms to recognize better and predict these events.

9 Essential Accessories of Tesla Model 3 You Should Know About

There are thousands of Tesla 3 models on the road. When a person gets a new Tesla Model 3, she finds the car fairly well equipped. However, it still needs a few accessories. If you need accessories for your Tesla Model 3, then you need to read this guide. This guide outlines the accessories to enhance the look of your new Model 3.

Car Mats

With fancy and attractive car and trunk mats, new or existing owners can make the interior of their Model 3 look nice. The Tesla Model 3 does not come with attractive mats, and the company has not given much importance to the mats for the Model 3. Some owners claim that the original mats are thin and move aroundYou can have carpet mats and also custom-made rubber mats for your Tesla.

Front Trunk Mat

In addition to car mats and trunk mats for the Tesla Model 3, you can also have mats for the front trunk. Again, you can get them customized.

Screen Protector

To keep the large screen in the center of the dashboard safe, a screen protector is a must. The screen protector sits on the glass and is barely noticeable. It can also be easily cleaned with a damp cloth, something you should do carefully with the original screen.

Center Console Liner

The original center console of the Tesla Model 3 is usually covered in a high-gloss lacquer. However, this makes it very obvious that it is made of plastic. For this reason, many Tesla owners choose a center console liner. This gives your console a more luxurious, matte look. This finish, called “piano lacquer” by some, is very prone to dirt build-up. Handprints are immediately visible, and fingerprints are even worse. Thanks to the console liner, you can give your Tesla the style you want. Many people even cover the dashboard.

Door Sill

In addition to screen protectors and console trim, many people use custom trim to protect their chrome door sill. Trims are easy to fit and protect the chrome on the door sill from scratches.

Wireless Phone Charger

The wireless phone charger allows you to charge two phones at once without cables. In addition to that, the wireless charger is compatible with all phones that use Qi technology. You’ll have to empty your pockets if you buy it directly from Tesla. Compatible chargers are much cheaper.

Center Console Organizer

A clean and organized console is a must for most Tesla drivers. Thanks to the multifunctional organizers, your console will always be tidy. We also have various dashboard organizers at your disposal. The interior of the Tesla is extremely slippery. So everything will be on the dashboard or in the center console, thanks to the organizer.

Roof Racks

Going on vacation and need more space for your luggage? Roof racks are the first thing that will come to mind. Unfortunately, the Model 3 does not have a roof rack. Therefore, you can get one.

Roof Sunshade
