Are Carrots Suitable For Adding In Keto Diet?

They are very beneficial for boosting your eye health, immune system, and growth. Carrots entirely do not contain an active vitamin A. But a substance called beta carotene must be converted into active vitamin A by the body. Beta carotene absorption is improved when eaten with fats, which the keto diet provides plenty of it.

Carrots are rich in carotenoids, pigments that give color to vegetables and fruits. Studies show that a diet rich in carotenoids, such as those included in a kidney disease diet will prevent cancer like breast cancer, prostate cancer, stomach cancer, and colon cancer.

Other vitamins content:

Biotin B vitamin: was previously known as vitamin H and plays. A vital function in fat and protein metabolism.

Vitamin B6: It is a chemically linked group of vitamins that aid in the breakdown – of food into energy.

Do carrots fit the ketogenic diet?

DID YOU GUYS GET A CHOICE OF WHICH NASCAR XFINITY RACES YOU WANTED TO DO? IF SO, WHY DID YOU PICK THIS ONE?

“Yeah, we did. The process was kind of up in the air based on what JRM could do, as far as a fifth car, and what races they also had open for HendrickCars.com to support. We did have a choice and I wanted to do this one. I just feel like I’ve struggled here the last couple of years and I haven’t done a great job. So, I wanted some extra laps. I don’t know if it will help or not, but I wanted to give it an effort to do so and try to be better for Sunday.”

EARLY ON, THERE WERE SOME HEAT CONCERNS ABOUT THIS CAR AND SOME CHANGES WERE MADE. HAS ALL THAT BEEN CLEARED UP? AND ADJACENT TO THAT, WHAT’S THE HOTTEST YOU’VE BEEN IN A RACE CAR?

“Yeah, honestly we haven’t really had any really hot races yet. So, I think it’s kind of tough to say. It’s really been a pretty mild spring; mild start to the year. It was fairly warm at COTA. I’d say that was probably the hottest one we’ve had, so far. And really outside of that, it’s been pretty cool about everywhere we’ve been. I’m not really sure just yet until we get to the summer months. This weekend is fairly warm, but it’s not as hot as it has been down here on other trips.

We’ll see. I don’t know, man. I’ve been hot plenty of times in the car. Just the right circumstance and the right car configuration can certainly bake you.”

DID LAST WEEK’S WIN CHANGE YOUR ATTITUDE ABOUT GOING FORWARD THIS SEASON AND WHAT YOU GUYS CAN ACCOMPLISH?

“Honestly, no. I feel like for us, like I said last weekend and the weeks leading up to last week, I feel like we’ve been solid at times and had a lot of pace. We just hadn’t been able to put an entire race together until last Sunday. We just have to do more of that and try to be better. Better execute the entirety of an event. I think as long as we’re doing those things, I think we can run and compete with the best of the garage. I feel confident in that; just as confident in that today as I did three weeks ago.”

YOUR DAD IS IN THE FOX BOOTH FOR STAGE THREE THIS WEEKEND. HAVE YOU HAD A CHANCE TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT IT? WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THAT?

“Not a ton. Just logistics of getting over here and getting home. I think it’ll be interesting. He’s not much of a TV guy, so that should be fun for him. He didn’t have to do it, so somehow or another they talked him into doing it. Why that was, I don’t really know. But I think it will be entertaining. For him, it’s not something he does all the time. He wasn’t one of those guys that got done racing and wanted to go do TV. It will be a good vantage point for him and I look forward to seeing how he does.”

CAN YOU GIVE ME A SENSE OF THE EVOLATION OF WHAT CHEVROLET HAS DONE THE LAST FEW YEARS? OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS THAT STRETCH WHERE EVEN WITH SOME SUCCESS, THEY WEREN’T GETTING CARS IN THE FINAL FOUR. NOW, IT SEEMS LIKE IF YOU’RE NOT IN A CHEVROLET, YOU’RE STARTING BEHIND IN A WAY. JUST KIND OF THAT EVOLATION YOU’VE EVEN EXPERIENCED OVER THE LAST FOUR OR FIVE YEARS AND HOW YOU’RE SEEING THE GROWTH IN THAT PERIOD FROM YOUR EYES.

“I think it’s like what my dad has always said over the years and has tried to teach me – it’s a rollercoaster and it’s going to continue to evolve. There is going to be a time where that’s not the case. I’m a Chevy guy and I want that to always be the case. But that’s just not how it works. You’re going to go through periods where you’re going to struggle and you’re going to have to go back to work and get better. I think 2016, ’17, ’18 – I guess more ’17 and ’18 – we were certainly behind and needed to be better. We tried to come together as a manufacturer and, fortunately, we were able to do that.

I think Chevrolet should take a lot of pride in that; and the teams within that banner should take a lot of pride in that, too. I can’t say that anything just miraculously changed overnight. I think it’s just the way this deal works. You’re going to go through those periods and you have to ride that wave while it’s good in a positive manner, just like you do when it’s bad. And just accept that’s the way it’s going to be sometimes. That can be a hard thing to accept in certain periods, but I am a believer that I think that’s just how this works and I don’t ever see that really changing.”

WILLIAM BYRON SIGNED A CONTRACT EXTENSION, SO NOW EVERYONE AT HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS IS SIGNED AT LEAST THROUGH 2023. DOES IT MATTER? PRO ATHLETES ARE USED TO CHANGE, BUT DOES IT MATTER THAT EVERYBODY IS SETTLED?

“I think it’s great. Those three guys deserve their opportunities in my eyes and I think they’ve done a great job. They’ve had a lot of success and have run really well over the course of the last couple of years. So yeah, I think it’s a great thing. When a guy or a girl is deserving of an opportunity and they’re able to achieve that and have one presented to them in a manner like all of our guys have, I think it says a lot about them. I think HMS is in a really solid place right now. I feel like we all work pretty well together. It’s just kind of an easy flow in operation, which is good. I think it’s a great thing. I’m happy for William (Byron) and, in light of his news this week, I think he’s very deserving. I look forward to racing with him and working with him over the next few years too.”

YOU’VE MENTIONED YOU HAVEN’T DONE WELL AT DARLINGTON LATELY, BUT IN 2014 WHEN YOU FIRST SHOWED UP IN THE NASCAR XFINITY SERIES, IT WAS AN INCREDIBLE FINISH. HAVE YOU LOOKED BACK ON THE TAPE FROM THAT AND KIND OF GET INTO YOUR HEAD OF WHAT YOU DID AND HOW YOU MADE ALL THOSE PASSES HAPPEN?

“Yeah, it seems like I’ve just gotten worse here over time. So, I guess ignorance was bliss. But as it pertains to that night in particular, the win was great, don’t get me wrong. But I was really more proud of how we ran. I felt like we were one of the best couple of cars that night. I thought us and Kyle Busch were really good that night. (Kyle) Larson was also good that night. But I thought we were right there amongst the best and I thought that was something to be really proud of as a group and as we were getting started.

As far as how the end of the race went, the seas kind of parted for me. Just the way it kind of worked out. I had the outside lane and the opportunities were just kind of laid there in front of me for me to pickup as I came along. But that was probably more of good fortune and being in the right place at the right time on a fresh set of tires in all reality. Beyond that, we were solid all night and that kept us in a position to have a shot at it. I think that’s something to be more proud of than having things just go your way in the right time. It was a great night and hopefully we can get back in that direction.

I feel like we’ve been really sporadic here for whatever reason. I feel like we had a really good run here in one of the races in 2020, and then struggled really bad in the race in 2021. I don’t know if we raced here once or twice last year; but if there were two, neither one of them stuck out so they must not have been very good in my eyes. So, hopefully this week is better.”

HAVE YOU HAD A CHANCE TO TALK TO JIMMY MEANS ABOUT THE THROWBACK PAINT SCHEME?

“No, I haven’t. Not at all actually. Just in my talking with the folks at NAPA, they were excited about it. If they’re excited about it, then I’m excited about it. It’s a good looking car. I’m excited to represent their colors as always and hopefully we can give it a good run.”

IF YOU’RE NOT GIVING SOMEONE THE FINGER ON THE TRACK, THEN YOU DON’T REMEMBER (LAUGHS).

“Well, yeah I guess (laughs). That was in 2020, wasn’t it? Yeah, that one stood out, for sure. Not the ones last year. But I thought we were really good that night. That was part of my frustration. I thought we had a real shot at winning that thing.”

AFTER HAVING THE CAR LIKE YOU HAD LAST WEEK, HAVE YOU EVER BEEN THE GUY TO BE LIKE ‘MAN, I WANT TO HAVE THAT CAR FOR THIS TRACK OR THAT TRACK’? IF YOU HAVE BEEN LIKE THAT, HOW DOES THAT CHANGE WITH THIS CAR BECAUSE I’M SURE IT’S JUST A ROTATION RIGHT NOW OF WHERE THEY’RE GOING.

“I used to be like that when I was racing late models and stuff. We only had a couple of cars, so we would find one you liked and ran good with. If you were fortunate enough to not tear it up for a period of time, you wanted to keep bringing it back and you kind of had a little bit of a connection with it.

Since I got into the NASCAR world, not so much. I feel like everything is so precise, as far as the builds go. And from where I sit, I told you guys before – aside from the sticker over there on the dash, I couldn’t tell you one from another, to be honest with you. I really have no idea, as far as what chassis number we’re on or which one we ran last week; which one we’re bringing this week or whatever. I don’t really have a tie to it now.

And two, with the setup stuff, I think it’s really more about if you go somewhere and you have success with a certain balance of a car. I think it’s maybe more about going back and looking through some of that stuff and trying to replicate it. But you can implement those types of things in any car that we have. I think they’re all so close now that the number on the frame doesn’t really matter to me.”

TRACKSIDE LIVE SHOW TO DELIVER STAR-STUDDED GUEST LINEUP FOR NASCAR ALL-STAR RACE WEEKEND

FORT WORTH, Texas (May 6, 2022) – It is only fitting that Trackside Live will showcase a litany of stars stretching from NASCAR to sports and entertainment during the NASCAR All-Star Race weekend set for May 20-22 at Texas Motor Speedway.

Trackside Live, an entertaining, interview-style show hosted by PRN on-air personalities, will be held all three days from its outdoor stage situated in the Texas Motor Speedway Fan Zone near Gate 3. The day-long shows will feature drivers from the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series; greats from the fields of country music, NFL, boxing and NHL; and some of the exciting performers who will be entertaining in the Fan Zone.

The three-hour Trackside Live show on Sunday, May 22, which begins at 1:30 p.m., has an extraordinary lineup of guests that opens with country music superstar Blake Shelton and NASCAR on FOX television analyst and former Cup Series star Clint Bowyer.

Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee and former Dallas Cowboys great Drew Pearson, WBC, IBF and WBA welterweight world champion Errol Spence Jr., and former Dallas Stars goaltending great Marty Turco also will visit Trackside Live that day along with NASCAR Cup Series drivers Brad Keselowski, William Byron, Christopher Bell, Daniel Suarez, Austin Dillon and Austin Cindric.

The show will close with a 4:15 p.m. visit from a National Medal of Honor recipient, U.S. Army Master Sgt. Matthew Williams. The Medal of Honor, established by President Lincoln in 1861, is our nation’s highest recognition of valor in combat.

Throughout the three days of shows, more than two dozen drivers from the NASCAR Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Camping World Truck Series will visit the Trackside Live stage.

CORVETTE RACING AT SPA: Tandy, No. 64 C8.R Qualify Third in Class

Steady progress for Milner, Tandy through two days in WEC’s second round

SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS, Belgium (May 6, 2022) – Nick Tandy qualified Corvette Racing’s No. 64 Chevrolet Corvette C8.R third on the GTE Pro grid Friday ahead of the Six Hours of Spa, the team’s second race in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship.

Tandy set a time of 2:16.606 (116.383 mph) in the Mobil 1/SiriusXM Corvette. It put him three-tenths of a second off Gianmaria Bruni’s GTE Pro pole-winning time and has Corvette Racing in a strong position to challenge again for a victory Saturday in its first full season in the WEC.

This is the second straight appearance for the mid-engine C8.R at Spa, but the gap in qualifying shows how quickly the team has gotten back up to speed at a still-unfamiliar location. The Corvette Racing engineering team and crew spent much of Thursday and Friday running through a number mechanical and aero adjustments to get the C8.R into a good configuration for Saturday’s race.

This is Milner’s first career appearance at Spa while Tandy is a former winner at the circuit and has two previous WEC starts to his credit at the 4.35-mile, 19-turn circuit. Both drivers were satisfied with the feel and balance of the Corvette after Friday’s sessions with optimism present within the team heading into Saturday. They are looking to equal or improve on a runner-up finish from Sebring in the season opener.

The Six Hours of Spa for the FIA World Endurance Championship is scheduled for 7 a.m. ET/1 p.m. CET on Saturday, May 7 from the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The race will air live on MotorTrend TV with live streaming coverage of the race on the MotorTrend On-Demand app. TV and streaming coverage will begin at 6:30 a.m. ET, as does Radio Le Mans’ live audio broadcast.

NICK TANDY, NO. 64 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R – QUALIFIED THIRD IN GTE PRO: “Overall, I’m really pleased with the second day here – not just the qualifying but also the two free practice sessions. We obviously came here without the vast knowledge that our competitors have in their toolboxes. So we’ve been making steps every session. To be this close to pole position and the front row in qualifying is very pleasing. It seems a bit like a Sebring situation where we don’t have the outright, single-lap pace of the Porsche but a six-hour race isn’t won in qualifying. We’ve been working hard in practices to make the car good over the two-hour stints and not one lap. Hopefully that will pay off tomorrow.”

Saturday outlook: “The weather for tomorrow looks like it could be changeable. Not that I feel that I already have all the experience that I need here, but I felt very comfortable in the Corvette. I’m very happy with the pace overall. For me obviously this is a bit of an unknown. Every time you come somewhere new, you wonder if you are going to be on the pace but I’m quite happy with the progress so far.

“This morning it was all about getting the car a bit better and Kyle (Millay, chief engineer) has done an awesome job with the setup changes and the ideas overnight to help improve the car. By the end of the session, the car was the best it has been all weekend. We stayed on old tires the whole session when everybody else changed tires at some point. So in that respect we’re super happy.”

Christian Rose Charges Forward to Music City

NASHVILLE, Tenn: On the heels of a top-10 finish in last Friday afternoon’s General Tire 125, ARCA Menards Series East rookie Christian Rose treks on during his freshman campaign eyeing his third straight top-10 run in Saturday night’s Music City 200 at Nashville (Tenn.) Fairgrounds Speedway.

Rose aboard the No. 42 West Virginia Tourism Toyota Camry for Cook Racing Technologies experienced his toughest short track yet last weekend at the Monster Mile, but progress was made throughout the race including in the final sprint to the finish which gives Rose motivation as his learning curve continues.

“Dover was definitely a challenge but start to finish I feel like we went forward, especially at the end of the race,” said Rose who also captured a top-10 finish at Five Flags (Fla.) Speedway in March.

“Dover can certainly be intimidating because things can happen in a hurry but I feel like that as our No. 42 West Virginia Tourism Toyota Camry improved handling wise, especially late in the race – I wish I could have taken with what I had learned during those first 100 laps and I suspect our race result would look a lot different.”

Tackling Dover for the first time with a car intact and a top-10 finish would suffice as a victory for some, but Rose admitted that his Cook Racing Technologies team is hungry about winning.

“I know that I am learning behind the wheel and my team stands behind me 100 percent, but they have already visited Victory Lane as an organization this year and I know they want to do it again. I’d love to do for West Virginia Tourism and everyone who supports our team. This isn’t easy – especially in ARCA.

“The series is full of very good drivers who compete for some of the best race teams out there, but we are improving and we are heading in the right direction. Nashville is a place that I have prior experience at and I’m hoping that will pay dividends ahead of the race on Saturday night.”

In 2019, Rose competed in a CARS Pro Late Model Tour event at the historic half-mile short track.

“I feel like Nashville is pretty close to your typical short track,” Rose added. “Its confines are tight and the bottom groove is the preferred line, but it’s also a momentum track where if you can carry that speed through the corners and onto the straightaways, your chances of passing cars and making moves.

“It’s important to make sure we get our No. 42 West Virginia Tourism Toyota Camry dialed in and practice and then utilize the race to keep making gains to put us in contention. The track is going to change a lot throughout the night so it’s crucial that we keep up with those adjustments to keep our drive off strong that will hopefully put us in contention for a top-five finish on Saturday night”

No matter the outcome of his fourth career ARCA Menards Series East start this weekend, it’s already been an amazing week for the Martinsburg, West Virginia native.

On Tuesday, May 3rd – he was inducted into the University of Maryland Eastern Shore Wall of Fame for his Division 1 baseball achievements.

“Tuesday was very special,” sounded Rose. “I appreciate everyone at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore for giving me the honor and it brought back a lot of great memories. I’m ready to make new memories though on Saturday in one of the coolest cities in the United States.”

This season, Rose who competes in the ARCA Menards Series and the ARCA Menards Series East will continue to strengthen a relationship with the West Virginia Department of Tourism.

Following Nashville, Rose and CRT plan to compete in the ARCA Menards Series event at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway on May 27th.

The Music City 200 (200 laps | 119.2 miles) is the fourth of seven races on the 2022 ARCA Menards Series East schedule. Practice begins on Saturday, May 7th at 1:30 p.m. for an hour and fifteen-minute session. Herr’s Snacks to Become Entitlement Sponsor of ARCA Menards Series Race at Salem Speedway

Racing fans in southern Indiana will have an opportunity to Break Out the Herr’s when the ARCA Menards Series returns to the historic high-banks of Salem Speedway in the Herr’s Snacks 200. It will mark the 108th time since 1956 the series has raced at the legendary half-mile oval located between Indianapolis and Louisville.

The Herr’s Snacks 200 will be the 19th race of the 20 that comprise the 2022 ARCA Menards Series season. It will also be the series’ annual throwback race, allowing teams to celebrate days gone by with unique paint schemes from the past on their cars.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with ARCA and Menards,” said Bob Clark, VP of Marketing, Herr Foods. “That partnership is now in its eleventh year. It continues to expose our brand to millions of great race fans that follow the ARCA Menards Series. We’re excited to move the Herr’s Snacks 200 to Salem Speedway this year, one of the most exciting and historic tracks on the circuit.”

The relationship between Herr Foods, ARCA, and Menards started with current NASCAR Cup Series star Chris Buescher winning at Madison International Speedway on his way to the ARCA Menards Series title in 2012, kicking off a three-year run at the Wisconsin half-mile that also saw 15-year-old sensation Kyle Benjamin and Justin Boston score wins. The entitlement then moved to the legendary high-banked half-mile Winchester Speedway in Indiana for two years, with current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Austin Wayne Self winning in 2015 and future NASCAR Cup Series star Chase Briscoe scoring his first career series win on the way to the 2016 series championship.

The sponsorship transitioned to the mile dirt track at the Illinois State Fair in 2017 where former series champion Grant Enfinger scored the most recent of his 16 career ARCA Menards Series wins. Current NASCAR Camping World Truck Series star and nine-time ARCA Menards Series winner Chandler Smith celebrated his first career ARCA win with a potato chip shower in victory lane at Madison in 2018 and followed with another at Lucas Oil Raceway in 2019. The 2020 version of the race was part of the ARCA Menards Series East schedule at Toledo Speedway and rising superstar Ty Gibbs earned the victory, one of seven he scored on the ARCA Menards Series platform throughout the year. Last year’s Herr’s 200 was also at Toledo Speedway, again part of the ARCA Menards Series national tour, with Gibbs again celebrating in victory lane.

HSR Barber Historics Up Next at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama

CLEARWATER, Florida (May 6, 2022) – A memorable 44th HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta came to a grand conclusion last Sunday after an eventful weekend of activity on and off the race track. Featured marque Sports 2000 and the inaugural Gene Felton Memorial Challenge were in the main spotlight but those events were just two of the highlight happenings at one of the biggest HSR Mittys in history.

The Historic Stock Car #MoreDriven by Goodyear Racing Award launched its second season at the 44th Mitty and added another competitive component to a great weekend of HSR Group 8 Stock Car racing. The #MoreDriven by Goodyear Award began at last year’s HSR Mitty at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta and honors top performers in HSR Historic Stock Car competition with a certificate for a set of Goodyear Racing vintage stock radials, which are already a premium tire of choice for HSR Group 8 competitors.

The next round of the 2022 #MoreDriven by Goodyear Award will be back at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta at the Fall Historics, October 13 – 16.

“Super Dave” Hangs Up The Cape – “Super Dave” Bondon (pictured below) an HSR regular and Mitty competitor since the early years, announced during the event the 44th HSR Mitty would be his last weekend of competition. One of the first competitors to enter this year’s Mitty in his glorious 1964 No. 72 Morgan 4/4, “Super Dave” was quickly named a Mitty Grand Marshal and gave the “Drivers Start Your Engines” command for Saturday’s Sports 2000 feature race. Bondon then happily watched his daughter Stacy Schepens, who wheels a similar open-cockpit Morgan, drive to a third-place finish in her HSR WeatherTech Sprint race.

Gann’s Walter Mitty Award – Another special honor was presented to Carlus Gann (pictured below) who was awarded the HSR Mitty Award for the competitor that best typifies the adventurous spirit of the fictitious daredevil daydreamer, Walter Mitty, who is the namesake and inspiration for the 44-year-old HSR Mitty. Gann is a competitor, constructor, restoration specialist and a primary organizer of the impressive collection of HSR Group 8 Stock Cars that have become a fixture in HSR events at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta in recent years.

Sunday Mitty Winners – Sunday’s final events included some weekend first-time and repeat winners. Saturday Sports 2000 Feature Race winner Fritz Seidel went two-for-two in his 2004 No. 02 Carbir CS with another victory in Sunday’s sprint that showcased “S2000” as the 44th HSR Mitty Featured Marque for the final time of the weekend. Sunday morning’s B.R.M. Chronographes Endurance Challenge one-hour race for Prototype, Historic and GT Modern (GTM) cars was won overall for the second-straight race by the 2014 No. 4 Oreca FLM09 Le Mans Prototype Challenge “PC” car co-driven by Matthew Miller and James French. Miller and French also scored an overall B.R.M. Endurance Challenge victory in the season-opening HSR Spring Fling at Sebring International Raceway in March.

Teen Driver Tops at Mitty – The 44th HSR Mitty wasn’t just about celebrating road racing’s glorious past. Emerging second-generation driver Alex Berg (pictured below), 15, won both of his HSR WeatherTech Sprints in Group 11 at the wheel of his 2007 No. 57 Elan DP02. Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and now living in Buford, Georgia not far from Road Atlanta, Berg is the son of former Canadian Formula 1 driver Alan Berg.

Barber Historics Up Next – The 44th HSR Mitty set the stage for the HSR Barber Historics at Barber Motorsports Park, in Birmingham, Alabama, May 19 -22. The event gives competitors and race fans a pristine racing circuit and a chance to visit the amazing Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum. The Barber Historics features all HSR run groups and classes, but the event has also become a showcase of vintage and historic open-wheel race cars that are right at home on the 2.38-mile Barber Motorsports Park circuit. THERE’S SOME EXCITING NEWS FOR YOU THAT WAS RELEASED A LITTLE BIT EARLIER TODAY ABOUT YOUR CONTRACT EXTENSION WITH HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS. BEFORE WE GO TO THOSE QUESTIONS, CAN YOU JUST GIVE US A QUICK OVERVIEW OF WHAT THAT ANNOUCEMENT MEANS TO YOU?

“It certainly means a lot. It’s just been a special few weeks – to get the wins that we did and then have this announcement today is obviously great. I’m really excited for it. Excited for the next few years and just want to keep building what we’re doing with our No. 24 team. I feel like we’re really starting to build good momentum. I’ve got great people around me with my Crew Chief Rudy (Fugle) and all the people he has assembled under me. Just really excited, thankful and hopefully keep it going.”

WAS THERE ANY PART OF THIS NEGOTIATION THAT WERE DIFFICULT FOR YOU, JUST FROM THE SENSE OF NOW THAT YOU’VE REALLY ESTABLISHED YOURSELF. “It was a little different, but I think it’s really fair. I think they’ve done a great job. I connected with Rod Moskowitz this off season; started working with Pro Sport. It was definitely different. This is kind of my first deal outside of my rookie contract and I think that it’s good to kind of understand the economic sense of the sport a little bit more as I’ve gotten older, and start to understand all of the moving parts and what goes into it.

I thought it was educational and fair. Definitely left me excited and looking forward to the years ahead. It was different, for sure. But I’m happy with it. I’m happy with how everything turned out.”

SPEAKING OF THE ECONOMICS OF THE SPORT – CHASE (ELLIOTT) SIGNED A FIVE-YEAR DEAL. THERE ARE SOME PEOPLE THAT SAY WITH THE TV DEAL COMING FOR RENEWAL AND NOT KNOWING HOW MUCH THE TEAMS ARE GOING TO BE GETTING STARTING IN 2025, THAT YOU SHOULDN’T GO ALL THAT FAR OUT. I’M CURIOUS IF ANYTHING WAS DISCUSSED ABOUT PUTTING IT BEYOND THREE YEARS? WAS THERE ANYTHING IN YOUR THOUGHTS OF SAYING – OK, LET’S NOT GO TOO FAR INTO THE FUTURE WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT THE TV DEAL IS?

“Yeah, I think those things are all at play, for sure. I think our sport is going through a big change; a change for the better, really. We’re really thriving I think as a sport – seeing how much the fans are turning out to the races, how the TV ratings are and things like that. It’s exciting. For somebody like me coming into the sport, I’m 24-years-old and hopefully have a long career ahead. I want to see this sport do well. I want to see fans be interested in what I’m doing. I’ve got a lot of support from friends from high school, and things like that, that are watching the races. I didn’t get those messages a few years ago, so it’s cool to see that. Hopefully, as drivers, we can continue to benefit from the success of the sport.”

FROM A NEXT GEN STANDPOINT, WHAT HAS BEEN THE HARDEST MUSCLE MEMORY ADJUSTMENT THAT YOU’VE HAD TO MAKE GOING FROM THE GEN 6 CAR TO THE GEN 7?

“I think with this car, you drive it a lot straighter. The old car, you had skew. You had things in the car – skew and side force where probably the biggest differences. With that came some ability to lean on the right side of the car; lean on the right rear especially. Typically the cars didn’t build so loose throughout a run. I think this car builds a little bit looser and I think, overall, you just drive it a lot more off the right front tire. It’s an adjustment, but it’s not that hard of an adjustment because I feel like there has been cars throughout my career that have driven like that. It’s just different.

I think the biggest thing that we’re seeing is the track change. We’re seeing a lot of change in the race track as the weekend goes along. And with that comes a lot more confidence by the end of the weekend. You don’t see guys wrecking as much by the end of the races. I think there’s a shift going on in the race track that we’re not used to. Goodyear has brought different tires and in a lot of ways, they’re softer than we’ve ever had. So, that’s creating some variables.”

MAYBE YOU COULD GO CUP RACING THERE IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS OR SO?

“Yeah, I’m really excited. Nashville is an awesome race track. I got a chance to go test there on Tuesday and just that experience was a little bit different than what I’m used to. The last time I went there was six years ago. So, to kind of see how the race track has evolved and like you said, see the potential for that race track that it has is really cool. I think it’s almost a perfect race track for super late models because it’s so low in grip; there is a lot of tire fall-off, but it’s fast as well. So, you get to kind of see the horsepower of those race cars, but also see tire fall-off. I think that’s, obviously, the perfect equation. I think it’s a cool race track. I felt good about our car and hopefully can get back to getting a win there in that car; it would be fun. I haven’t been in it in a couple of months, so it took a little bit of an adjustment time. But hopefully it’s a lot of fun on Saturday.”

IF NASCAR DOES GO THERE, THEY’RE PROBABLY GOING TO PAVE IT, SO IT’S NOT GOING TO BE THE SAME. DO YOU THINK THE NEXT GEN CAR WOULD RACE WELL THERE?

“I do. It seems like a big, heavy stock car races well with some banking. I think some of our worst races are unfortunately the flatter tracks. They’re just so heavy that it’s hard to make much work, I guess. But the banked tracks, like Nashville, would be kind of a perfect race track. It’s probably half the banking of Bristol, so I think it would be perfect.”

AS YOU WERE GOING THROUGH THESE CONTRACT TALKS – THE SUCCESS YOU’VE HAD EARLY THIS SEASON, HOW DID THAT IMPACT BOTH PARTIES?

“It’s hard for me to say. I feel like we kind of started them right around that time, so it’s hard for me to say the differences there. But definitely seems like both sides are happy. I’m happy where I am. They are happy with the progress that I’m making. I feel like there’s that excitement for the future of what we’re going to do together. I’m looking forward to it. To answer your question, I don’t know how much it changed it. But I think everyone is happy. Jeff (Gordon) was excited when he saw me at Dover and I’m excited, too.”

MOTHER’S DAY IS COMING UP THIS WEEKEND. THERE WERE SOME CHALLENGES OVER THE LAST YEAR. DID THAT CHANGE HOW YOU APPROACH MOTHER’S DAY AS A HOLIDAY THIS YEAR? DOES IT HAVE ANY MORE MEANING THAN IT DID PREVIOUSLY?

“I think for sure. That whole series of events has kind of changed my perspective, in general, on life. I think it does make it different because last year at this time, it was weird. None of my family went to the Darlington race I don’t think. So, it was weird and just a different kind of weekend. This week has already been good. We’re doing a family dinner tonight, so getting to see my cousins and things like that will be fun and celebrate the mom’s in our lives. And just enjoy the weekend, in general. Obviously, the race at Darlington to cap it off. It should be a fun weekend. I’m excited for her to go to the race; my sister as well. Looking forward to it.”

CONGRATULATIONS, WILLIAM. YOU SELDOMLY DO AN INTERVIEW WITHOUT MENTIONING JEFF GORDON. I’M CURIOUS – HOW MUCH OF A MENTOR HAS HE BEEN TO YOU AND HOW MUCH HAS HE HELPED YOU ACCLIMATE TO YOUR ROLE AT HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS?

“Yeah, he’s (Jeff Gordon) helped quite a bit. I think he’s just made me comfortable in the Cup Series and made me understand what’s important. He’s really good at managing both sides of it. He’s good at managing the off-track and the on-track; knowing the importance of both. That’s been what I’ve learned from him over the years. And also, little tidbits of information about racing, too. He’s been good for me, but also good for the race team and good for Rudy (Fugle, crew chief). He’ll come into our 24 room and he’ll talk about race tracks, what to expect and what he thinks is important. That’s cool because he’s won at a lot of places, so I think it’s great information.”

YOU’VE GOTTEN A LOT OF YOUR TRAINING DURING SIMULATION. YOU’VE ALSO INTEGRATED A LOT OF DIFFERENT VEHICLES. YOU’RE RACING DIFFERENT VEHICLES OUTSIDE OF JUST YOUR TRADITIONAL NASCAR STOCK CARS. WHAT’S BEEN MORE BENEFICIAL TO YOU – INCREASING YOUR WORK ON SIMULATION OR THE EXTRACURRICULAR RACING?

“That’s a great question. I think that’s the question we’re all trying to answer every week. What’s more important – is it going to the simulator? Is it going to a real race track and running something else? I think the answer is both. As much racing as you can do is important and with my age, I fortunately don’t have a ton of other distractions and I can get a lot of time to go and sit in the simulator at my apartment, go to the Chevy simulator, or go to Nashville to test a super late model.

I think all that experience is great. Monday wasn’t the best day for me at Dover and I was able to go to Nashville the very next day; get in something else and kind of erase that memory of the weekend and get on with it. For me this year, it’s been awesome for just my mental thought process; to be able to go get into different cars. It just keeps me fresh I think.”

THIS YEAR, IT’S SEEMINGLY KIND OF HARD TO PICK OUT WHO’S EMERGING AS A POSSIBLE CHAMPIONSHIP FAVORITE. BUT YOU’RE ONE OF THOSE GUYS – YOU’RE ONE OF ONLY TWO DRIVERS WITH MULTIPLE WINS. AT THIS POINT IN THE SEASON, WHO WOULD YOU CONSIDER IS YOUR BIGGEST COMPETITION, IN TERMS OF GETTING TO THAT CHAMPIONSHIP FOUR IN PHOENIX?

“To your point, it’s definitely been hard to learn this car at different race tracks. We’ve nailed it at certain tracks and then there are certain tracks that we’ve been way off. So, I think it’s just learning the car – learning what it needs, the balance that it needs and kind of erasing those old memories of what the car used to drive like at that track because it doesn’t really matter.

I don’t know. When it comes to the competition, I still think that if we can just do our deal and just continue to build a notebook that’s a good foundation, I think we’ve got all the tools and resources to do well. I’m not too worried about anybody else. I continue to see my teammates, if they hit on the setup, they can win; and I feel like we’re just the same. So, I’d say it’s really just internal focus. Try to be good every single week and try to build that notebook. Knowing that your teammates are going to be right there to challenge you for wins is a good thing.”

LOOKING AHEAD TO NEXT WEEK, YOU AND ALL OF HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS HAVE SHOWN A TON OF SPEED AT 1.5-MILE TRACKS. WHAT ARE YOU EXPECTING WHEN YOU GO TO KANSAS SPEEDWAY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THIS NEW CAR?

“I’ll answer that after I get through Darlington. I think Darlington is kind of my biggest question mark, just getting through that. We’ve been to a couple of high-speed race tracks. It’s been awhile since we went to Las Vegas, but we were obviously good there. We finished fifth and had a good result. I’d see us being strong at Kansas, for sure. I just haven’t put much thought into it.”

JUST TALK ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH RUDY (FUGLE, CREW CHIEF) AND HOW YOU’VE GROWN SINCE YOU’VE BEEN TOGETHER NOW A FEW YEARS. HOW HAVE YOU ALL RE-FOCUSED THIS YEAR AND PRETTY MUCH SET YOUR GOALS UP FOR THE SEASON TO MAKE IT FURTHER INTO THE PLAYOFFS AND TRY TO WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP?

“For us, it’s just learning this new car. Everything we did last year was great and it kind of set a good foundation for what is important to us and how we’re going to approach our season. What we want to go for – obviously Playoff points was a big part of that and trying to get more of those. But yeah, it’s all just about communication. I feel like Rudy (Fugle, crew chief) and I communicate well. We’re really good at that and we can have a lot of success. We’ll just keep working on our communication. What I like about him is that after a tough race, he digs his feet in deeper and figures out how to solve problems. He’s a problem solver and I like that aspect. I think that’s why we’ve always been good. We’re able to rally from bad races, get closer together and go work on it.”

CAN YOU JUST TALK A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH RUDY, MAYBE SOME OF THE THINGS YOU DO OUTSIDE OF THE TRACK TO GET CLOSER; OR HOW YOU ALL FOCUS ON A DAY-TO-DAY BASIS?

“Yeah, I mean we don’t go get a beer together or anything (laughs). It’s not like we’re best friends off the track, but we care about each other and our families. I like to see what his son is doing and all that. And he cares the same about me. We text a lot and talk a lot on the phone. At this level, that’s pretty constant in our relationship.”

HOW HAS A YOUNG CORE AT HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS PROVIDED YOU GUYS WITH A NEW SPARK AND A NEW OUTLOOK COMPARED TO SOME OF THE OLDER GUYS IN THE CUP SERIES?

“I think it’s just circumstances that we’re all the age that we are, but I think it’s just our paths to the Cup Series and the way that we’ve all come together. We all have different experience levels from different race cars. I think we all get along really well because we’re similar in age and we all like similar things. A few of us play golf; a few of us go race other things. So, we all have kind of common interest, I’d say.”
