LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 21, 2025) – Cooper Shipman has been flawless thus far in Formula 4 United States Championship (F4 U.S.) this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Fastest in practice and qualifying, Shipman (No. 14 Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F422) led the field down the starting grid after securing his second pole of the season. Alex Popow (No. 55 Dr. Michael Thompson MS DDS PPLS / MLT Motorsports Ligier JS F422) rolled off second, but it was actually third-place starter Kekai Hauanio (No. 29 N-E-Where Transport / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F422) who was making forward progress during the opening laps of the race. Overtaking Popow for second in Turn 1, Hauanio smoothly moved past Shipman to take the lead as they raced toward Turn 2. Shipman battled back, and the two raced side by side through Turns 3, 4 and 5. While Hauanio was initially able to hold the position, Shipman challenged again as they raced through the same sector the following lap, this time emerging with the race lead. From there, he never looked back, steadily pulling ahead and putting a gap on the field. With Popow making the pass on Hauanio during the latter stages of the race to overtake second, he tried to pull Shipman into his grasp, but was unable to do so before the checkered flag waved.

As they crossed the finish line, it was Shipman leading the way, followed Popow in second and Hauanio in third.

Notes of Interest:

  • Cooper Shipman earned his first-career F4 U.S. win during Saturday’s opening round at Mid-Ohio.
  • With his second-place result, Alex Popow earned his fourth podium of the 2025 season.
  • Coming off a weekend sweep at Road America, Kekai Hauanio finished third, marking the sixth time this season that he has finished inside the top three.
  • Shipman’s victory marked the first win for Kiwi Motorsport in F4 U.S. this season. The Dallas-based organization joins Crosslink Motorsports, MLT Motorsports and LC Racing Team as winners in 2025.

“It’s been a long time coming,” said Shipman from atop the podium. “We’ve shown the pace throughout the season, but haven’t really been able to put it together. It wasn’t the best start for us today—we got back to P2—but I stayed calm and was able to get back to the lead. I knew it would come eventually, and today we were able to finally put all the pieces together and come up with the win. I’d like to thank both my parents and everybody at Kiwi Motorsport for making this possible. They put a really good car underneath me today, and I couldn’t have done it without them.”

F4 U.S. returns to the track tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. ET for Race 2 from the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour. The race will be live streamed on SpeedTour.TV. Additional news and updates from the weekend will be posted on the series’ Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Bruno Ribeiro and Nicolas Ambiado Win on First Day of Mid-Ohio SpeedTour

Nicolas Ambiado Retakes Points Lead with Win in Race 2 at Mid-Ohio LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 21, 2025) – Nicolas Ambiado earned his third Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) win of the 2025 season in Race 2 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. The victory gave him an edge in the battle for the title, allowing him to recapture the championship lead with a seven-point margin. Starting the race from the second position, Ambiado took the lead from polesitter Bruno Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) racing into Turn 1 on the first lap and never looked back. After a car stalled on the starting grid to bring out the safety car, Ambiado overcame the challenge of an early restart to maintain the lead and race toward the checkered flag. The Chilean’s biggest challenge came with just over five minutes left on the clock when Ribeiro pulled wheel to wheel with Ambiado to challenge for the lead. With slight contact made between the two, Ambiado went from just a 0.352 lead to pulling away from the field. Ambiado crossed the line first, with Ribeiro in second, while Jett Bowling (No. 22 Bullhorn / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) completed the pass on Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3) during the closing laps to snag the third and final podium position. LEXINGTON, Ohio (June 21, 2025) – Bruno Ribeiro put on a dominating performance to claim the victory in Formula Regional Americas Championship’s (FR Americas) opening race of the Mid-Ohio SpeedTour weekend. Taking on the challenging Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, Ribeiro (No. 01 Alfa Cem / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) set the pace from lights to checkered in an all-green race. Leading the field down the starting grid after securing his first-career pole in yesterday’s qualifying session, Ribeiro successfully held off his Kiwi Motorsport teammate Nicolas Ambiado (No. 55 Velox USA / Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3), as well as third-place starter—and finisher—Titus Sherlock (No. 31 Rayne Nutrition / Ronald McDonald House Charities / Crosslink Motorsports Ligier JS F3). Unchallenged in his fight to the finish, Ribeiro easily claimed his first victory of the 2025 season, becoming the fifth driver to win this season in FR Americas.

  • Three nations were represented on today’s podium, with Brazilian Ribeiro winning the event, Ambiado hailing from Chile, and Sherlock, an American.

“I’m just super thankful I managed to get P1,” said Ribeiro after climbing from the car. “On the last few laps, we were battling an issue with the tire. I don’t know what happened exactly, but I thought that maybe I wasn’t going to make it to the finish. It’s a pretty hot day today. I’m just super happy to give the guys the result they deserve today; I have no words.”

Kaulig Racing Race Recap | Explore the Pocono Mountains 250

No. 16 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevrolet

Start: 15th
Stage 1 Finish: 5th
Stage 2 Finish: 5th
Finish: 3rd

Christian Eckes fired off strong in the No. 16 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevy, gaining six spots in two laps, before the first caution flag came out. Radioing that he was happy with the handling of the car, Eckes continued fighting through the top 10 and finished the opening stage in fifth place. Crew chief Alex Yontz made the call to pit during the stage break for tires and fuel, and Eckes started Stage 2 from 14th place, as some were on different strategies. Having worked his way back up to eighth place when a caution came out on lap 41, Eckes reported that the No. 16 Chevy was “pretty damn good,” and stayed out to restart sixth with five laps remaining in the second stage. He gained one spot, once again finishing the stage in fifth place. With a plan in place, Eckes stayed out during the second stage break, being told that it was crucial to maintain track position on the first laps after fire-off on older tires. Continuing with that plan, he made his scheduled green flag pit stop on lap 68 for tires and fuel. The caution flag came out just two laps later, as Eckes was the last car on the lead lap, while teammate Daniel Dye was the lucky dog. The No. 16 team’s race continued according to plan, as the field pitted under caution, and Eckes restarted third with 25 laps remaining. When the caution flag came back out four laps later, Eckes had slid back to sixth, reporting that the No. 16 Chevy was sideways that run. He stayed out to restart in the same position with 17 laps remaining. Another caution led to an exceptional restart for Eckes, who went from fifth to second place with 12 laps remaining. Following another late-race restart, Eckes battled with the No. 2 car, ultimately crossing the line in third place, his best-career finish and second-consecutive top five.

“I’m really proud of this Kaulig Racing team that went to work after we struggled a bit in practice and qualifying. Our No. 16 LeafFilter Gutter Protection Chevy was really fast in the race, and we were able to contend for a win. It feels good to run where we are supposed to run and continue building in the right direction. Hopefully we keep this momentum going, as we try to make a playoff push.” – Christian Eckes

No. 11 Alloy Employer Services Chevrolet

Start: 26th
Stage 1 Finish: 17th
Stage 2 Finish: 23rd
Finish: 15th

Josh Williams was running in 27th when the caution came out on lap three, and immediately upon the restart, another yellow appeared. He restarted in 26th on lap 14 and methodically picked up positions on pace and through several lead runners flipping pit strategy. After finishing Stage 1 in 17th, Williams pitted under caution for tires and fuel, firing back off in 22nd for Stage 2 on lap 32. One lap after the restart, Williams avoided a multi-car pileup. While pacing, he expressed concern about how free the No. 11 Chevy was when firing off, but the team decided to keep the car off of pit road for the time being. The green flag reappeared on lap 38 with Williams restarting on the outside line in 24th. In what was becoming a trend before the midway point of the 250-mile race, the caution came out just a few laps after the restart, setting up a five-lap shootout to the green-white-checkered flag. Williams restarted in 13th after staying out with the goal of mitigating any potential lost ground before stopping under the stage-break caution. He finished Stage 2 in 23rd and pitted for tires, fuel, and right-rear adjustments. He took the green in 23rd place on lap 57, and after losing three spots initially, he settled into 24th until green-flag stops began around lap 68. During the pit cycle, a spin brought out the caution, and Williams stopped for the final scheduled time under caution for tires, fuel, and right-rear adjustments, and he restarted with 25 laps to go in 21st. A spin brought the yellow flag out with 21 laps to go; Williams took the green again with 17 laps to go in 18th. Avoiding another two wrecks, Williams leaped into 16th after the 10th caution of the day. In a six-lap run to the checkered, Williams brought the No. 11 Alloy Employer Services Chevy home in 15th.

“We stayed in it all day. The car kept firing off real loose, more than we wanted it to, but we kept fighting. Appreciate the No. 11 crew, appreciate Alloy Employer Services for being behind me. Definitely got a solid finish from that.” – Josh Williams

No. 10 Champion Container Chevrolet

Start: 18th
Stage 1 Finish: 16th
Stage 2 Finish: 36th
Finish: 31st

Daniel Dye spun, bringing out the caution on lap three, but he kept the No. 10 Champion Container Chevy damage-free. He pitted for fresh tires and fuel and restarted from 36th, before gaining 20 spots to finish the opening stage in 16th place. Dye started the second stage from 21st place but was collected in a wreck that gave him significant damage on lap 32. He pitted multiple times to address a right-front fender rub, losing two laps in the process. Dye went on to finish the second stage in 36th place, receiving the free pass and getting one lap back. After pitting for tires and fuel, Dye started the final stage from 36th, the only car one lap down. A timely caution on lap 70 saw Dye sitting in the free-pass position once again, putting him back on the lead lap in 33rd with 25 laps remaining. Dye nursed the damaged No. 10 car to a 31st-place finish.

“I’m disappointed with how today went for this No. 10 Champion Container team. I felt like we had some speed in practice and qualifying. Unfortunately we got some damage early and lost a couple laps working on it. We kept at it and got the free pass a couple times, but by that point much of the speed was knocked out of the car. We did what we could given how the race started, and I’m proud of the fight from this team.” – Daniel Dye

RCR NXS Race Recap: Pocono Raceway

Jesse Love and the No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet Team Show Speed and Earn Runner-Up Finish at Pocono Raceway

Finish: 2nd
Start: 10th
Points: 4th

“I’m very proud of our No. 2 Whelen Chevrolet team. First off, I’m happy for Connor (Zilisch) and the No. 88 team. Finishing second bums me out, but I’m still trying to be grateful for the situation. We had a fast car and were in a position to win. I feel like I let my guys down, but I’m proud of the effort. We’re all brothers on this race team, and we really want to do well for each other. It was a great day overall, so nothing to hang our heads about. At the end, Connor and I both drove into the corner way, way too deep. I knew he was going to try to get to my left rear free on entry, and I tried to drive him hard, but couldn’t paint the line. I probably should have put more value on just being accurate to my line, but then we were just playing games down the frontstretch. I’m interested to see how far we drove into the corner. I couldn’t quite finish the corner, and he had enough grip to finish it. I wish I had a couple more laps. I’m happy with RCR for building fast cars and ECR for the power. Hopefully, we can keep this momentum going. We have a rough couple of weeks, but our team is capable of winning, and we’ll keep ticking away.” -Jesse Love

Austin Hill and the No. 21 Global Industrial Chevrolet Team Sustain Damage in Multi-Vehicle Wreck at Pocono Raceway

Finish: 35th
Start: 14th
Points: 2nd

“Not the result we wanted with our Global Industrial Chevrolet. It wasn’t a fun one for our team, so we will put this one behind us and shift our focus to Atlanta next week. The top line was extremely slick on the initial start, and as the cycles were put on the tires, our balance got tighter and tighter. I had to over slow to turn in the corner. Chad (Haney, crew chief) and the guys made a big swing at it, and we were hopeful that it would free up. Unfortunately, shortly after that pit stop, we were involved in a crash and had significant damage to our car. From that point on, we were simply making the most of our day and grinding it out. The No. 21 team doesn’t give up and we showed that again today.” -Austin Hill

Matthew Brabham Leads 1-2 Finish for CD Racing at Mid-Ohio on Rob Dyson’s Birthday

Bryson Earns First XGT Victory, Carey Grant Wins in SGT, Coffey Takes Fourth GT Win of 2025, DeGaynor Tops GT1 Challenge

LEXINGTON, Ohio, (June 21, 2025) ― In a stunning display of dominance, Matthew Brabham was the class of the field in the Trans Am Series presented by Pirelli’s TA/GT event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, leading a 1-2 finish for CD Racing. Brabham (No. 21 GYM WEED Ford Mustang) consistently maintained commanding gaps over second place while exciting battles waged on behind him. Ultimately, he took the checkered flag in front of team owner Chris Dyson (No. 16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang), and the two celebrated the birthday of Dyson family patriarch Rob Dyson on the top-two steps of the podium. Paul Menard (No. 3 Pittsburgh Paints/Menards Ford Mustang) claimed the final podium spot after fighting his way back from two off-track excursions and engaging in fierce battles along the way.

The action started immediately after the green flag waved, with polesitter Brabham pulling ahead while chaos erupted behind him. Second- and sixth-place starters Menard and David Pintaric (No. 57 Kryderacing Ford Mustang) went off course in the first turns of the race, and the two fell to the very back of the TA field, requiring them to fight tenaciously to make it back to the front. Menard’s recovery led to him being scored fourth by lap 16, but he had to fight tooth and nail to make it around third-place Tomy Drissi (No. 8 Trench Shoring Co./Motul Chevrolet Camaro). When he finally made the pass on lap 23, he went off course once again, spared from damage but losing two hard-fought positions. Menard was fifth when the caution flag waved on lap 28, and with the field re-racked on the lap-32 restart, he was up to the third position two laps later, getting to the rear bumper of second-place Dyson. The two engaged in a passionate battle to the checkered flag, with Menard unable to make his way around Dyson. When the race ended under caution, it was Brabham, followed by Dyson and Menard. Ohioan Amy Ruman (No. 23 McNichols Co./Valley Automotive Group Chevrolet Corvette) was fourth, and Drissi finished fifth.

Notes of Interest:

  • Matthew Brabham claimed his second victory of the 2025 season in dominant fashion, earning the third win of the season for CD Racing. Brabham previously took the checkered flag at Road Atlanta while filling in for an injured Chris Dyson, and Dyson tallied his first win of 2025 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.
  • Brabham led from start to finish, extending multi-second leads over second place under green-flag conditions.
  • Advancing from his third-place starting position on lap one, Dyson held second place for the duration of the race.
  • Paul Menard’s third-place finish was his fifth podium of the year. Menard has three victories this season and currently leads the TA point standings.
  • Adam Andretti was forced to retire early in his 100th-career Trans Am start following an engine issue on lap 15, finishing ninth in class.
  • Wally Dallenbach Jr., who was making his final Trans Am start this weekend, also faced mechanical issues and was relegated to an eighth-place finish after retiring with just 26 laps completed.
  • David Pintaric, who fell back to eighth in class after his early off, recovered to finish sixth in class.
  • Wadsworth, Ohio’s Aaron Quine (No. 2 Weaver Concepts/Mobil 1 Dodge Challenger) finished seventh overall in his Trans Am TA class debut.

“First, a big thank you to my family,” said Brabham from the top step of the podium. “I want to thank Kim, my fiancée, my dad and Kim’s dad for coming out and supporting me. Brumby [the dog] as well. Obviously, it’s great to have family support and we’re only a few hours from Indianapolis. Then, obviously, Chris Dyson, big thanks to you for having me back in these cars, and thanks to the team as well. The boys and girls at CD Racing gave me a fantastic car. We’ve really made this car fast this weekend, it’s been an absolute joy to drive. Big thank you to GYM WEED. I love drinking GYM WEED before the start of the race. It keeps me nice and focused. I didn’t make any mistakes out there, so I appreciate that. Finally, a big thank you to all the fans. I tried to lay down some 11s and I tried to do some drifting at the end there and put on a show. Thank you so much, guys. Cheers.”

TA Top Five:

  2. Chris Dyson, No. 16 GYM WEED Ford Mustang

EMCO Gears Lap Leader:

Matthew Brabham, No. 21 GYM WEED Ford Mustang

Both XGT competitors faced mechanical issues that kept them from completing all of the laps in today’s event. Austin Hill in the No. 0 Ferris Mower/Aluma Trailers Chevrolet Corvette was the first to face a gremlin, ultimately retiring four laps in due to an issue with the throttle body. Kaylee Bryson had a cam sensor issue in her No. 02 Logical Systems Inc. Chevrolet Corvette, requiring multiple trips to pit lane. However, her team fought hard for her to make it to the checkered flag, and she ultimately took the top step of the podium in her first-career XGT victory.

“That was a bit of a trial and error, but my guys worked their butts off to get us back out there,” said Bryson after the race. “We had a cam sensor that was melting. It was getting way too hot in that car, and it was just melting. The guys got it fixed up and we went back out there and made some solid laps. It’s been a minute since I’ve been in the car, so I’m really enjoying being on the top step of this podium. I appreciate all the hard work my team puts in to get me a fast car to go out there and rip some laps.”

XGT Results:

  1. Kaylee Bryson, No. 02 Logical Systems Inc. Chevrolet Corvette
  2. Austin Hill, No. 0 Ferris Mower/Aluma Trailers Chevrolet Corvette

The first half of the SGT battle was dominated by newcomer and Columbus, Ohio native Ray Mason (No. 82 Alloy Employer Services Ford), but a full-course caution on lap 28 reset the field for a lap-32 restart. Carey Grant (No. 6 Grant Racing 2 Porsche GT3 Cup) had an excellent restart, making his way around Mason when the green flag waved, and seven laps later, Grant’s father Milton Grant (No. 55 Sentry Self Storage/Springhill Suites Porsche 991.1) made the pass for second. The two Grants maintained their positions at the front of the field, with Carey earning his first win since 2022. Mason took the checkered flag in the third position in his Trans Am debut, and was followed by Tim Gray in the No. 60 Ryan Companies Ford Mustang in fourth.

“I had a great race today,” said Carey Grant. “I had to keep my head down to try and catch Ray Mason, who was in front of me. When we had the restart, I had a really good restart, and he made a mistake. It was enough for me to get by, and then I was able to stay in the lead from there on out. It was a great weekend. Thanks to Trans Am. Thanks to everybody for coming out, and all our sponsors. Thank you to my crew chief, Larry Johnson, and Mike Hoover as well.”

SGT Results:

  1. Carey Grant, No. 6 Grant Racing 2 Porsche GT3 Cup
  2. Milton Grant, No. 55 Sentry Self Storage/Springhill Suites Porsche 991.1
  3. Ray Mason, No. 82 Alloy Employer Services Ford Mustang
  4. Tim Gray, No. 60 Ryan Companies Ford Mustang

Chris Coffey dominated the GT race in his No. 97 Norwood Auto Italia/Traffic Grafix Maserati MC GT4, leading the class from green to checkers to take his fourth victory of 2025. His teammate Colin Cohen (No. 38 Norwood Auto Italia/Traffic Grafix Maserati MC GT4) solidly held the runner-up position for the entire race, while behind him, the three new Howe Racing Enterprises HR6 machines battled it out for the final podium spot. It was ultimately Todd Napieralski in the No. 39 Synergy Composites Howe HR6 who took the third step of the podium, while Jack Rinke (No. 12 Sadev Howe HR6) finished fourth and Rich Rinke (No. 11 Xineering Howe HR6) came home fifth.

“Yeah, that race was pretty incredible,” said Coffey. “It’s great to have such great competitors to race with. Everybody out there in TA, SGT and XGT really ran clean and great. It was an absolute blast. I hope these guys bring those [Howe] HR6 cars to some more of the races. I want to thank my wife, Morgan, my son, Sam, my team, Xavier and Alex, and Colin [Cohen] here. Without Colin, I couldn’t be here. This is just an incredible moment and I hope to keep building on it.”

The sole competitor in the GT1 Challenge, Jon DeGaynor in the No. 04 Speed Dream’n Racing Ford Mustang showed early speed, running up with the TA drivers for the first half of the race. Unfortunately, he went off the track and into the grass on lap 28, bringing out the first full-course caution of the day. Although he was unable to complete the race, he still took home the victory in his class.

Zilisch wins the Explore the Pocono Mountains 250 at Pocono Raceway

JR Motorsports’ Connor Zilisch made a pass with five laps remaining on Jesse Love to win Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Pocono Raceway. He led 34 of the 100 laps en route to his third career Xfinity Series win and his first at an oval. His previous wins were at Watkins Glen and Circuit of the Americas.

“I’ve been dying for this one for a while now, I’ve been so close on the ovals lately,” Zilisch said. “I finished second at Charlotte, second at Nashville.”

JR Motorsports team co-owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. served as the interim crew chief for Zilisch and the No. 88 Chevrolet team after crew chief Mardy Lindley was suspended for one race due to a lug nut infraction this month at Nashville.

“Pretty cool to have him up there. Thank you so much to the entire JR Motorsports team. This one is definitely special. I’ve been chasing an oval win for a while now.”

“We had a lot of things going our way,” Earnhardt said. “I missed the thrill of competition. I love broadcast, don’t get me wrong,” he continued. “But,” he explained, “nothing compares to driving or just being part of the team. Being an owner doesn’t really deliver like this. This is a lot of fun.”

Jessie Love finished second, and Christian Eckes claimed a career-best third-place finish in the No. 16 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing.

“Hats off to him. He ran a good race.” Love said. “Once I was able to get a draft, I was able to get back to him, but that bums me out,” he continued. “I’m not going to lie, but I’m still trying to be grateful we have fast race cars and are in position to win. Hats off to Connor.”

Chase Elliott, competing in both the Xfinity and Cup Series races this weekend, led the most laps (38 of 100). But while contending for the lead with Justin Allgaier with 13 laps remaining, he nearly crashed. He went up the track to avoid an accident and fought back to finish in fourth position.

Ryan Sieg finished fifth, and Carson Kvapil, Sam Mayer, Sammy Smith, Taylor Gray, and Justin Allgaier completed the top 10.

After Pocono, Justin Allgaier holds an 82-point lead in the Xfinity Series points standings over Austin Hill and 110 over Sam Mayer.

The race featured 10 caution flags for 41 laps, and 10 lead changes among seven drivers.

The NASCAR Xfinity Series heads to EchoPark Speedway in Hampton, Georgia, for the Focused Health 250 on Friday, June 27, at 7:30 pm ET on CW.

TORRENCE, WILKERSON & DAVIS GET MISSION #2FAST2TASTY CHALLENGE WINS AT AMERICAN REBEL LIGHT VIRGINIA NHRA NATIONALS

B. Force, Beckman and Davis all qualify No. 1 at Virginia Motorsports Park

DINWIDDIE, Va. (June 21, 2025) – Less than two weeks after winning in Bristol, Top Fuel standout Steve Torrence continued to roll on Saturday at Virginia Motorsports Park, defeating Shawn Langdon in the final round of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge as part of the fifth annual American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals.

Daniel Wilkerson (Funny Car) and Brayden Davis (Pro Stock Motorcycle) also won the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge, while Brittany Force (Top Fuel), Jack Beckman (Funny Car) and Davis (Pro Stock Motorcycle) qualified No. 1 at the ninth of 20 races during the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season.

In the heat, Torrence made a strong run during all three qualifying sessions on Saturday, finishing it off with a run of 3.877-seconds at 324.28 mph in his 12,000-horsepower Capco Contractors dragster to slip past Langdon’s 3.927 at 325.45 and earn his first Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge win of the year.

Torrence broke a long winless streak in Bristol and he followed it up with a fantastic Saturday in Richmond, which could bode well for raceday as the four-time champion looks to win back-to-back races for the first time since 2021.

“We’re just going to keep on doing what we’re doing,” Torrence said. “The consistency of the car has not been there, and so we need to work on that. That’s been the main focus for the last few years, and we’ve lost that, and it seems to be coming back around right now, with three good runs on a very tricky racetrack. We carried over some of the momentum from Bristol to the same conditions here.

“The points we get here (in the Mission Challenge) will help after the Countdown resets that that’s something that could be a huge benefit. We’re going to try to gain as many points as possible after skipping the race at Phoenix and not doing well at the first of the year, which has kind of put us far back in points.”

Force, meanwhile, took the No. 1 qualifier for the second time this season and the 54th time in her career after an impressive 3.839 at 327.98 in her 12,000-horsepower Chevrolet dragster. It was a standout run in the heat, as Force made two solid passes on Saturday. She’s after her second victory this season and at Virginia Motorsports Park, looking for the win at a track where her father, legendary driver John Force, was involved in a massive crash a year ago.

She’ll open eliminations against points leader Tony Stewart, who struggled during all three qualifying sessions on Saturday.

“It’s definitely tough coming back to this racetrack with the memories I have from this place,” Force said. “We won here in ’22 and won the [Mission Challenge] here last season, and it’s all kind of forgotten. It’s like the only thing I really remember is Sunday last year when my dad wrecked and everything that came with that. It is tough to come out here. I’m glad he’s out here with me, but it’s everywhere I look, I see something that reminds me of that day.”

Clay Millican qualified second with a 3.864 at 324.90 and Torrence is in the third spot thanks to his winning run in the specialty race.

In Funny Car, Daniel Wilkerson inched closer to the biggest weekend in his racing career, winning the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge for the first time after going 4.038 at 320.74 in his 12,000-horsepower Scag Power Equipment Ford Mustang to hold off Ron Capps’ 4.063. Wilkerson had advanced to a final round earlier this year, finishing as the runner-up in Pomona, and took another step on Saturday with the specialty event win.

He defeated Paul Lee earlier in the day and then led wire-to-wire against Capps en route to the victory. Wilkerson was thrilled with Saturday’s results and is hopeful it will lead to something even bigger on Sunday.

“Honestly, I wasn’t sure winning would mean this much until it did. I feel like I let the team down a couple times this year and last, and to not mess it up this time,” Wilkerson said. “That was really the most important part for me. I like winning and everything, but I feel like I let 10 guys down a couple times, and to be able to be able to make something happen for them, I’m very proud.

“There are a lot of people that work on these cars out here on a rough track or hot track, Tim (Wilkerson, crew chief and father) is my choice.”

Driving Force’s 12,000-horsepower PEAK Chevrolet SS, Beckman took the No. 1 qualifying spot with a run of 3.988 at 320.51. It was the only three-second run on Saturday in the Funny Car ranks, as the former world champion collected his third No. 1 qualifier of the year and the 31st in his career. He’ll open eliminations against Jim Campbell, looking to hand another win to Force in what has already been a banner year for the veteran.

“Our car is superb on cool racetracks with throwdown runs,” Beckman said. “I actually think our car is even better on hot race tracks and I think we’ve proven that a few times, but Richmond is the smoothest racetrack on tour.

“Our goal always is for Austin [Prock] and I to qualify on opposite sides of the ladder and our goal always is for Austin and I to race each other on race day. If we start from opposite sides of the ladder, that makes it a final, and if it gets to that point, John Force Racing has won.”

Points leader and defending event winner Austin Prock qualified second with a 4.004 at 320.36 and J.R. Todd’s 4.018 320.05 handed him the third spot.

The meteoric rise of Pro Stock Motorcycle rookie Brayden Davis continued on Saturday in Richmond, as he defeated teammate Richard Gadson in the final round of the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge and grabbed the No. 1 qualifier for the second straight race on his Powertrain/RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Suzuki.

Racing in his first NHRA specialty race, Davis went 6.772 at 198.70 to defeat Gadson, last week’s winner in Bristol, picking up his first Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge victory. Earlier in the day, Davis went 6.757 at 198.65 to claim the top spot for the second straight race. It is only Davis’ third career start in the Pro Stock Motorcycle ranks, but he’s quickly proven to be a major factor in the class.

After another fantastic Saturday, he’ll open eliminations against Marc Ingwersen, looking for a clean sweep at Virginia Motorsports Park and his first career NHRA win as well.

“I’ve said a million times, but when you race for the Vance & Hines team you know, you have top-notch equipment, and with Andrew [Hines, crew chief] on the keyboard, when he says it’s going to do something, it’s going to do it,” Davis said. “It’s proved it every pass this weekend. You never go up there with any doubt, and it’s left up to you, and if you get beat, then it just wasn’t your day

“I’m enjoying the moment and the ride while I have it. I really feel like we have a good shot at it tomorrow. I had the bike to beat in Bristol and I just messed up. It’s going to be interesting, but I think if I stay .020 on the Tree, and the bike stays consistent and stays healthy, then we should make it an interesting day.”

Matt Smith is currently in the second spot after a run of 6.768 at 201.43 and John Hall’s 6.787 at 199.97 puts him third.

Eliminations for the American Rebel Light Virginia NHRA Nationals begin at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday at Virginia Motorsports Park.

TAYLOR GRAY LEADS TOYOTA WITH NINTH-PLACE FINISH AT POCONO
Gray posts seventh top-10 finish of the season

POCONO, Penn. (June 21, 2025) – Taylor Gray found himself among the top-five for much of Saturday’s Pocono Mountains 250 NASCAR Xfinity Series race, but a flurry of late race cautions caused him to lose track position. Still, the driver of the No. 54 Operation 300 Toyota GR Supra for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) brought home a ninth-place finish and his seventh top-10 of the season.

Gray currently sits 12th in the standings, 11 points above the cutline with 10 races remaining in the regular season. His JGR teammate Brandon Jones is already locked into the playoffs by virtue of his win earlier this year at Darlington Raceway.

TAYLOR GRAY, No. 54 Operation 300 Toyota GR Supra, Joe Gibbs Racing

Finishing Position: 9th

Did the timing of the late cautions make a difference in your day?

“We put together an ok day with our Operation 300 Toyota GR Supra. We were a top-three car a lot of the races, but things didn’t fall our way with the cautions and we lost a lot of our track position and ended up with ninth. Not what we hoped for today, but we’ll move on and look forward to Atlanta next week.”

  • It is the Kiwi driver’s fifth appearance in the Firestone Fast Six this season

“Pretty good day. Fastest Chevy, in the end. We didn’t run another set of reds. I think we could have got pole there, but we’re thinking long game. I think that’s about as good as a pole. We saved a set of tires and we’re in a good spot for tomorrow. So, I’m excited.”

  • Christian Lundgaard, No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet, will roll off fifth after making the Fast Six for the fourth time this season

NTT INDYCAR SERIES QUALIFYING RESULTS FROM THE XPEL Grand Prix at Road America Presented by AMR

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING (Quotes):

Scott McLaughlin, No. 3 DEX Imaging Team Penske Chevrolet qualified 4th:

“Pretty good day. Fastest Chevy, in the end. We didn’t run another set of reds. I think we could have got pole there, but we’re thinking long game. I think that’s about as good as a pole. We saved a set of tires and we’re in a good spot for tomorrow. So, I’m excited.”

Christian Lundgaard, No. 7 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet qualified 5th:

“Good Qualifying. It’s nice to bounce back from last weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway. We didn’t quite have it. Pace is close. We obviously saw in the Fast Six how close the qualifying times are. There are a couple guys we’re fighting in the championship, the 27 and the 10 used a third set of alternates, so me and the 3 car are in a better position for the race, and I think that was really our goal: don’t sacrifice the race and make sure we think about the long game. I think we did, and at the end of the day we can fight from fifth. I’m happy, hot, sweaty, and conditions will be even worse tomorrow.”

David Malukas, No. 4 Clarience Technologies/A.J. Foyt Racing Chevrolet qualified 7th:

“I think we’re really happy. I mean, we’re almost just trying to, like, make it to the Fast 6 and commit to a sixth-place finish because we really want to save these red tires. Just save all tires, to be fair. I think we did a good job there. P seven is kind of, I think, right where we want it to be. It’s a good starting spot and just have some good stops and try to make these tires last.

Will Power, No. 12 Verizon Team Penske Chevrolet qualified 8th:

“The Verizon Chevy was really good in the second round (of qualifying). It was just unbelievably tight there, which is always the case in the INDYCAR SERIES. We only missed by a fraction. It was a hot afternoon, and it will be tomorrow, so we have to be ready for that. Plenty of speed in the car and we’ll go to work tonight on the strategy to be ready.”

Callum Ilott, No, 90 PREMA Racing Chevrolet qualified 9th:

“The car was good; we improved a lot since FP2. It was great to be third in our group. The first run in the Top 12 was not so good, the tyres were quite used and just didn’t have a good feeling or rhythm. On the second run we put the new tyres on, it felt really good on the first lap but unfortunately everyone else backed up in front and so I didn’t get to complete it. I think it would have been a Fast Six lap. On the last lap the tyres are gone a little bit, so we’re P9 which is the first top 10 start for the #90 car and everything feels pretty good for tomorrow.”

Josef Newgarden, No. 2 PPG Team Penske Chevrolet qualified 10th:

“With a track this big you don’t think you’ll have an issue with traffic, but we absolutely did in that second round. A top-10 starting spot isn’t the worst here with the amount of passing zones you have but we definitely had enough speed in the PPG Chevy that we should have been fighting for a pole position.”

Pato O’Ward, No. 5 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet qualified 11th:

“I was happy with the balance of the Arrow McLaren Chevrolet today, and I think all the changes we made were definitely helping us improve. We had a very strong Round 1 and just lost half a second of engine performance on the straight line in Round 2. That put us at a bigger deficit to transfer into the Firestone Fast 6. It’s frustrating because I thought we had something to fight for pole with.”

Nolan Siegel, No. 6 Arrow McLaren Chevrolet qualified 13th:

I think we’re in a good spot. It’s, I think, like, a tenth and a half would have moved us to, like, second in our group or something ridiculous. So, it’s very, very tight, and I think we have a good race car, I missed it a little bit in that session. It’s frustrating. I think we had potential for sure to be in the fast-12. But, I think there are probably a lot of people saying that and a lot of good cars that didn’t transfer. So, we’re in a good spot for tomorrow. We’re you know, I don’t know if it really matters if we were two spots up the grid from where we are, we’ll do what we can. And, it’s a place where we can pass too, so I’m really excited to race here again, and it always produces such a fun race.”

Robert Shwartzman, No. 83 PREMA Racing Chevrolet qualified 17th:

“Overall, I’m having mixed feelings. On one side I am happy that we managed to improve the car balance, on the other hand we had an issue where I just lost straight-line power on my second run. When I compare to Callum, it was like around four tenths on the straights so it should have been enough to put me in the top six of our group. That said, I was quite happy with my run, I managed to improve and generally get a bit more confidence and feel with the car so overall it’s good. We’re going to be starting 17th tomorrow so we’ll do our best in the race to get some positions and move forwards.”

Santino Ferrucci, No. 14 Bommarito Automotive Group/A.J. Foyt Racing Chevrolet qualified 18th:

“Obviously, we’re really happy with the base on the black tires or prime tires. I think we understand what happened, which is a bummer, but also a good thing. So, we’ll make the changes for tomorrow. Three sets of sticker alternates. Drive it forward. Man, I feel like you can pass on this track, and I’m not afraid to race. So, I’ll get it up there. I think we just kind of missed something in the mid corner rotation. Like I said, I’m not afraid to brake late, and get on it. So, I guess I’m just at this point padding my passing stats for the season, unfortunately.”

Christian Rasmussen, No. 21 ECR Splenda Chevrolet qualified 20th:

“We’ve been struggling for pace all weekend long, through practice one, through practice two, and, same here in qualifying. It seems like no matter what we do to the car, it just doesn’t really respond to our our changes. So, yeah, I think I think we could have qualified a little bit better. My problem in qualifying was just getting the the tires up to Tim quick enough for for that second run compared to my first run, I was, like, three tenths down coming out of 14, but still ended out improving my lap time. So had we had that three-tenths, we would have transferred. So for us, it was just we couldn’t get the tires switched on quick enough. But, yeah, we still we have some work to do to for the race car tomorrow for sure. It’s, not where we wanna start. We started far down last weekend, and that obviously went alright. So, hopefully, we can do something tomorrow.”

“We’ve had some good weekends in a row. You know? The 500 was good for us. I think overall, Detroit was really good for us. Just didn’t get the result because of an mechanical failure, as well as getting my first podium last weekend. So it’s it’s we’ve been on a good steam. This has definitely been the weekend where we’ve struggled the most for pace, I think, for in a in a while. We’ll just have to keep working at it, try to improve the car for tomorrow, and then see what we get.

Conor Daly, No. 76 Juncos Holliger Racing Chevrolet qualified 21st:

“We’ve had a bit of a struggle overall on any road or street course. The hybrid weight that’s been added has been a bit of a challenge for us for sure on these circuits. We made a great improvement. We were only a tenth and a half from transferring, so I’d say that’s pretty good, from where we were. Much more in the game now. Again, we’re about a session behind all the time, so we need a little bit more work. Hopefully, tomorrow we can race our way forward.”
