USAC/CRA SPRINT CARS 70th SALUTE TO INDY AT PERRIS AUTO SPEEDWAY THIS SATURDAY

(Perris, CA, May 17, 2021) This Saturday night, May 22nd, Perris Auto Speedway will host one of the nation’s oldest sprint car races when the 70th running of the Salute to Indy returns after a year in hiatus due to the COVID crisis.

Headlining the racing card on the famous Riverside County half-mile clay oval will be the popular 410 cubic inch Amsoil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars.  The PAS Senior Sprints will also be in action.  Spectator gates will open at 5:00 P.M. with racing at 7:00.  Due to COVID mandates, tickets must be purchased online at the following link  https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7/event/1219096.  There will be no walk-up ticket sales for this race.

The “Salute to Indy,” which is a tip of the hat to the Indianapolis 500, dates back to 1948 when Dempsey Wilson captured the inaugural running of the now prestigious event. From 1948 through 1990, the race was contested in all but five years.  After legendary Ascot Park closed in 1990, it was put on ice until The PAS hosted it in 1996.   Since its rebirth in the Inland Empire, the famed race has taken place each year with the exception of 2008 when it was canceled by rain, and 2020 when it was wiped out by COVID.

While this weekend’s affair comes 73-years after the race was initially held, it will be the 70th running.  You may be wondering how that can be as the race did not take place 12-times since its introduction.  The answer is a simple one.  Some years in the 1970s and 1980s, Ascot held multiple races over Memorial Day weekend and each race was called the Salute to Indy.  In 1971, 1978, 1981, 1982 and 1983, there was two Salute to Indy races.  In 1980, three editions of the race took place on the revered grounds located at 190th and Vermont in Gardena, California.

Over the years, National Sprint Car Hall of Famers Dean Thompson and Bubby Jones recorded the most Salute to Indy wins with five victories each.  However, all of Thompson’s wins came in years when the race was held multiple times.  In addition, three of Jones five triumphs took place when the race was held more than one time per year.

Only two drivers have won the race four times.  One is National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Billy Wilkerson and the other is eight-time USAC/CRA Sprint Car champion Damion Gardner of Concord, California. Unlike Thompson and Jones, Wilkerson and Gardner’s triumphs all came when the race was only run one time per year.  Wilkerson’s victories came at Ascot in 1968, 69,’ 72’ and 73.’ Gardner’s triumphs came in 2003, 04,’ 14,’ and 17’ and all were at The PAS.  A win on Saturday by Gardner would tie him with Thompson and Jones for the most wins in Salute to Indy history.  In addition, if Gardner wins on Saturday, it will be his 98th victory in combined SCRA, and USAC/CRA competition.  That would tie him with racing great Cory Kruseman.  In the all-time history of the original CRA, SCRA and the Current USAC/CRA dating back to 1946, only Thompson with 105 wins, and Rip Williams with 104, have more victories than Kruseman and Gardner.

“Had Damion Gardner not spent six years racing with the USAC National Series in the Midwest, he probably would have more wins than any other driver in the Salute to Indy,” PAS promoter Don Kazarian said.  “He will have a lot of extra incentives to win on Saturday.  In addition to tying for the lead in all-time wins for the Salute, and tying Cory Kruseman for third on the all-time West Coast victory list, he also has new sponsor Performance Online on board.  He wants to get a first win for them.”

In addition to Gardner, two other past winners of the Salute to Indy will be in action on Saturday.  One is Yorba Linda’s Matt Mitchell and the other is “The Big Game Hunter,” Austin Williams, of Corona.  Mitchell sipped the traditional chocolate milk that PAS winners get at the Salute to Indy, in 2011 and 2013.   Williams did likewise when he crossed the finish line first in 2016 and 2018.

Saturday will be the 24th edition of the Salute to Indy at The PAS.  As mentioned earlier, it was not held in 2008 due to rain, and in 2020 when COVID intervened.   Other years in the race’s history that it did not take place were 1950, 1951, 1960, 1965, 1970, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, and 1995.

Saturday’s show will include qualifying, 10-lap heat races, a 12-lap B Main event and a 30-lap A Main for the USAC/CRA drivers.  The Senior Sprint Cars, for drivers 40-years-old and over, will contest an eight-lap heat race and a 20-lap main event.

COVID rules will still be intact on Saturday. In addition to no walk-up ticket sales, all fans will have to wear face coverings and distance from others not in their group in the grandstands.  PAS concessions will only be available via the “FanFood” app.  The app is a free download from the App Store.  Fans will order and pay for their food order from their seats.  When the order is ready, they will receive a text to pick up the order at the designated station nearest where they are sitting in the grandstands.

Online tickets for 2021 Perris Auto Speedway races are on sale at  https://www.tix.com/ticket-sales/pas/7.   Fans will be able to purchase tickets online at the above tix link up until 7:00 p.m. each race night.  The entire 2021 schedule is available at the bottom of this release.

Yamaha Unveils All-New 2022 YZF-R7 Supersport Motorcycle

Yamaha’s Proven CP2 Engine Joins the Next Generation of R World

MARIETTA, Ga., May 18, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Yamaha Motor Corporation, USA, today introduced the all-new 2022 YZF-R7 as the latest model in the company’s Supersport motorcycle segment. Built from the ground up with a sleek ultra-thin lightweight chassis powered by Yamaha’s proven 700cc-class CP2 engine, and enhanced with track-focused supersport features, the R7 embodies the R-Series’ rich history of aggressive performance and racing dominance.

R World is Calling
Yamaha has a rich heritage of building the most sought after Supersport motorcycles designed to deliver the pinnacle of performance on and off the track. From the rider-friendly YZF-R3 to the exclusive and track-focused YZF-R1M, the Yamaha R-series model lineup provides options for riders of all skill levels to experience the pure exhilaration of R World.

The all-new 2022 YZF-R7 bridges the gap between the entry-level YZF-R3 and the prestigious YZF-R1, offering a midlevel option for both new riders looking to grow into a more powerful motorcycle, as well as experienced riders seeking a fully-faired motorcycle with Supersport performance that fits within their budget. With a unique package of performance, price and sporty styling, the R7 is true to its R-Series DNA and the lineup’s aspirational history of racing success.

All-New YZF-R7
The all-new 2022 YZF-R7 delivers proven power, a narrow chassis, and new styling that reflects the exhilarating next-generation of R World. It is packed with a range of features that include an engaging 689cc CP2 engine, a slim and lightweight frame with excellent aerodynamics, an inverted front fork with excellent front-end feel, and a racing-inspired cockpit with a supersport rider position.

689cc CP2 Engine
YZF-R7 uses Yamaha’s proven 689cc liquid-cooled, four-stroke, in-line two-cylinder, DOHC CP2 engine, giving the rider a feeling of a direct connection from the throttle to the rear wheel. Forged aluminum pistons with direct-plated cylinders integrated with the crankcase makes for lighter weight and excellent strength at higher temperatures, ensuring reliability at higher rpm. The crossplane engine’s 270-degree crank provides an uneven firing sequence with a more characterful exhaust note that emphasizes torquey acceleration and linear power delivery for outstanding response at all engine speeds. Additionally, the R7 has an optimized secondary gear ratio that creates an exhilarating ride and a sporty feel.

Ultra-Narrow Lightweight Chassis
The YZF-R7’s ultra-narrow, high-strength steel frame provides excellent rigidity for a sporty and responsive ride by mounting aluminum center braces near the swingarm pivot which improve torsional rigidity. Rake, trail, and wheelbase dimensions have also been optimized for superb handling while cornering on a racetrack or a twisty section of pavement. The narrow, lightweight frame design has resulted in the slimmest bodywork found in Yamaha’s Supersport lineup and reduces air resistance while incorporating the rider’s body into its design.

Sporty New Suspension
The 2022 YZF-R7 features an inverted KYB 41mm front fork with optimized spring rate and damping settings for an excellent front-end feel during cornering and braking. The product-specific settings make for easy and predictable behavior, with a stiff feel for twisty roads and racetracks. The fork is fully adjustable for preload, rebound and compression damping force. The inverted KYB front forks are mounted to the steering tube via a forged aluminum lower triple clamp, and a gravity-cast aluminum upper triple clamp.

A linked-type Monocross single-shock with adjustable spring preload and rebound damping strikes a balance between ride comfort and sporty performance for capability across a wide range of uses, from urban commuting to track days. The rear shock unit is mounted horizontally, fastened to the crankcase for efficient use of space and weight, contributing to mass centralization and further enhancing the bike’s compact size.

Potent Braking Power
The 2022 YZF-R7 is equipped with a new radial brake master cylinder from Brembo. This new Brembo radial master cylinder provides a more linear supply of hydraulic pressure to the radial mounted-mounted, 4 POT front brake calipers creating excellent controllability and stopping power through dual 298mm front brake rotors.

Comfort-Focused Racing-Inspired Cockpit
The YZF-R7’s new racing-inspired cockpit puts the rider in a comfortable and confidence-inspiring position that evokes an eagerness to ride. A comfortable new seat with material and cushioning used in the YZF-R1, combined with new low-profile fuel tank covers with deep knee pockets for optimal hip and knee positioning gives the rider freedom to adjust positions while also providing a firmly planted feel when leaned over and a sturdy body hold under braking. Separate clip-on handlebars are set in relation to the rider’s hips and footpeg positions for an aggressive position allowing the rider to naturally grip the machine with confidence, especially when tucking behind the windscreen on twisty roads or on the racetrack.

New LCD Instruments
The 2022 YZF-R7 features a new full LCD instrument panel. The high-contrast negative dashboard and its compact and lightweight multifunction display with larger displays for the clock, gear, trip meters and tachometer provide clear information. The use of spot color gives an accent for the high-rpm range display – and new handlebar switches enables the rider to operate the meter more easily and efficiently.

New LED Lighting
The iconic R-Series M-shaped intake duct and twin-eye front design of the new YZF-R7 houses an adaptive bi-functional LED headlight. The R7 is also equipped with a new LED taillight and front and rear turn signals. Light and compact, the new LED lighting complements the next-generation style of the bike and reinforces the premium specification of the Supersport class. Not only do the LEDs offer long life with minimal power draw, they provide brilliant illumination for confidence and visibility day or night.

2022 YZF-R7 Key Features

  • 689cc crossplane technology CP2 engine
  • 270-degree crankshaft for linear power delivery
  • First Assist and Slipper clutch on a CP2 model
  • Optional Quick Shift System for smooth upshifts

First Indigenous Dirt Track Racing Docu-Series on APTN; “Friday Night Thunder”

Big Soul Productions announces the May 7th premiere of Friday Night Thunder, a fast-paced docu-series following racing families at the Ohsweken Speedway—the only track on Indigenous land in Canada. Equal parts poignant and light-hearted, Friday Night Thunder challenges viewers’ perceptions of the world of dirt racing.

Produced by Big Soul Productions, a 100% Indigenous-owned production company, and airing on APTN Fridays at 8 pm and Saturdays at 12 pm, Friday Night Thunder captures the emotions, community, and connection at the core of the dangerous sport. Spectators watch as drivers careen around a 3/8 mile track with low visibility—crashes are inevitable and devastating, while winning has little material reward. Friday Night Thunder digs deeper into what makes dirt racing at the Ohsweken Speedway a time-honoured tradition among many families in the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in southern Ontario.

“It’s not necessarily about racing, it’s about the family dynamic of racing—both real and track families,” says Laura Milliken, producer and director. “It’s about how important living is, looking for the light in your life.”

The series follows Glenn Styres, the founder and owner of Ohsweken Speedway, in the aftermath of a career-ending crash. Styres acts as a mentor and role model to the drivers, providing support on and off the track. Styres built the track 25 years ago and it has been a staple in the region ever since. “It’s really a good thing that Glenn did, because I think it has brought the community together and gives them something to do and keep busy on Friday nights,” said driver Alex Hill in an interview with the CBC. Hill, a 21-year old sprint car racer, is currently the only Indigenous woman to compete in the American Sprint Car Series.

Friday Night Thunder focuses on the lives of these drivers first, and the high-octane world of dirt racing second. Echoing the community on the track, Friday Night Thunder invites viewers into this tight-knit and adrenaline-packed club.

ABOUT BIG SOUL PRODUCTIONS
Big Soul Productions Inc. is a Toronto-based production company owned by Anishinaabe producer/entrepreneur Laura J. Milliken. Big Soul Productions is dedicated to creating, developing, and producing films and television representing the Indigenous voice while generating much needed capacity for Indigenous creatives in the industry.

Friday Night Thunder was produced with the participation of APTN and CMF.

Colorado Becomes Sixth State to Reach 2bn in Lifetime Betting Revenue

Following the passing of the HB19-1327 bill back in 2019, the Centennial State become the nineteenth US states to legalize online sports betting activities within its borders. Once the bill was signed into law by the voters, both online and retail sports betting sites were allowed to start offering their services and products in Colorful Colorado as of the 1st of May last year.

Almost one year later, the state of Colorado became the sixth US state to generate USD 2 billion in lifetime betting revenues. Since May 2020, many renowned Colorado betting sites emerged on the scene and all of them are fully licensed and regulated by the Colorado Division of Gaming regulatory body that grants licenses alongside being responsible for overseeing all sorts of iGaming activities within the state’s borders.

The launch of online sports betting sites on the 1st of May 2021 allowed the newly thriving Colorado iGaming market to offer Colorado residents awesome betting deals on various betting markets with all major leagues covered including the NBA, NFL, MLB, and others. With awesome opportunities, Colorado bettors invested over USD 300 million in bets in March only.

Sportsbooks in Colorado Generated Over USD 300 Million in Bets in March

After looking into these staggering official numbers, it becomes obvious that Colorado sportsbooks have managed to bounce back quickly from the previous month’s decline. With over USD 300 million generated by Colorado sportsbooks in March, the thirty days of the month were enough for the state’s iGaming sector to surpass a staggering USD 2 billion in lifetime betting handle. Reaching this milestone came only eleven months after the iGaming industry officially launched.

Before Colorado, only five states surpassed this USD 2 billion mark in lifetime betting revenues. March Madness and the biggest NCAA tournament most certainly fueled those March growing numbers as the state’s retail and online sports betting sites took in over USD 300 million in wagers. According to the official report by the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming, revenues from betting on sports like football, basketball, and NASCAR increased by around 12% percent when compared to February, and USD 266 million generated in wagers that month.

Colorado Sports Betting Revenue Report

According to the official report by the Colorado Department of Revenue’s Division of Gaming, Colorado bettors wagered around USD 9.7 million daily in March which is slightly more than February when they wagered around USD 9.5 million daily. March has also been more successful as USD 20.4 million was generated in gross gaming revenues as opposed to USD 10.4 million taken in back in February. Eleven months after launching, Colorado sportsbook gave away USD 5.6 million to the state in taxes.

In March, Colorado sportsbooks gave away to the state USD 1.1 million in taxes. This is way above the state’s biggest competitor in terms of their market size Indiana which generated around USD 2.5 million in taxes from USD 316 million in wagers.

The most bets were placed on the NCAA and the NBA. Basketball and NCAA online bets generated USD 103 million and USD 69 million respectively and USD 3.2 million and USD 1.2 million in retail. So, 35.5% and 23.6% of all wagers by Colorado bettors were placed on the NBA and NCAA basketball. The top ten sports in Colorado by total bets placed include:

  • Ice hockey with USD 12 million in online wagers
  • Tennis with USD 10 million in online wagers
  • Soccer with USD 8.9 million in online wagers
  • Table tennis with USD 8.8 million in online wagers
  • Golf with USD 4.8 million in online wagers
  • MMA with USD 3.4 million in online wagers
  • Baseball with USD 599,147 in online wagers
  • Motorsports with USD 601,850 in online wagers
  • Parlays generated over USD 55 million from online bettors
  • Other bets generated over USD 15 million from online bettors

North American Road Star: How to Earn Serious Money from Your Car?

With millions of Americans unemployed thanks to the virus, it’s highly likely you’re bound to ask yourself if there’s a way you can make a fast buck in these trying times. It’s definitely better to bring something to the table even if you’re not the breadwinner of the family, right? Or you could be just wanting to make a sideline income, an add-on to a regular job. What you may not realize as a car owner is your vehicle can actually be a means to that end. Indeed, you can make money from your car other than exploring the prospects of selling it.

First things first, however. Before you plunge your car into a money-making scheme to earn some dollars, know you need to ensure your vehicle is in tiptop shape. If not, you could be subjecting your fave wheels to overloading and sudden stress that could be destructive in nature. In the process, you end up facing a bigger problem than when you started. So a visit to your go-to mechanic is wise in this regard.

The good news is there are plenty of tried-and-tested ways you can earn money from your car. Even better, some of these jobs have become full-time for many, a possible option you can explore while you let the virus run its course.

Become a Ridesharing App Driver

It’s simple actually. You get people from point A to point B. The more you do it, the greater you earn. Plus, you need not work the job full time. As many have done before you, they’re earning from ridesharing on the sides.

What’s the catch? Well, you’ll have to pass through screening to be part of a ridesharing app’s army of drivers. There’s background checking, criminal record checking and your driving record have to be sterling. Your vehicle too must meet the standards, age-wise and quality-wise. Plus, you’ll have to shoulder all the car expenses: gas, maintenance, insurance, and in the long run, repairs.

Then bear in mind that this is not a delivery job so your income will vary according to the demands on the street. Usually, we’re talking about weekday rush hours and weekend nights before bars close.

A peak hour could get you $25 but it’s not an assurance. Some trusted apps you can tap are:

  • Lyft
  • Uber
  • Wingz

Deliver Goods

If you really want a full-time job that gives you a full-time income, exploring delivery jobs may be your best option. Make sure you look up the cost of delivery driver insurance.

You can do start to work for multiple restaurants and with COVID-19 stay-at-home protocols in place delivering food are in great demand. Some of the apps you can tap are:

  • Uber Eats
  • DoorDash
  • Grubhub

The downside is food delivery rises with lunch and dinner. So you may not have much to do in between. But if you’re really serious about earning, here’s another delivery that’s bound to exact every energy in your body. We’re talking about delivering just about anything on the planet.

Top of that list is Amazon. Yes, you’ve heard that right, the Jeff Bezos company. The downside? As you’ll be running after a daily quota of packages to deliver (usually 100), you’ll be so busy you may not have time to pee in a decent bathroom. And your guess is as good as our where Amazon drivers take a leak.

Take note that the package delivery business is global. For one, you could end up delivering a product that people send to other parts of the world. For instance, it’s easy to send a package to the Philippines from Canada these days.

Some of the most common businesses you can apply to as a delivery guy are:

  • Amazon Flex
  • Shipt
  • Instacart
  • Postmates

Rent Your Car

You won’t be using your car the whole day right? Not unless you’re going on a road trip. So a good idea for you to earn is to rent it. You can make your car available so people who want to use a car but don’t have one (e.g., travelers) can make the most of one. It’s a matter of supply and demand.

In theory, car rental sounds the best of both worlds. But be warned: it could break your heart. The advantage here of course, if you’re earning in times when your car isn’t in use. Remember, however, that short-term car rentals can not only mean more miles on your car but also it can mean added repairs. After all, strangers who use your car may not think much of the car when using it.

Well, still that doesn’t take away the fact that this could be a lucrative venture. And why not? If you have a second car that nobody uses or if your company has given you a ride to and from home every day. That you’re earning even if you’re doing something else is a good addition to your income. It can pay loans and your insurance premium.

Some legit short-term car rental businesses you can tap are:

  • Hyrecar
  • Getaround
  • Turo

Now that you know you can earn money from your car, you should get moving and start counting your dollars as soon as possible.

NASCAR Top-10 Power Rankings: Dover

Alex Bowman leads the field during the NASCAR Cup Series Drydene 400 at Dover International Speedway on May 16, 2021 in Dover, Delaware. (Photo by James Gilbert/Getty Images)

Note: The quotes in this article are fictional.

1. Denny Hamlin: Hamlin finished seventh at Dover, posting his tenth top 10 of the season.

“I unveiled my new racing shoe,” Hamlin said. “It’s called the ‘Jordan Racer 1,’ and it comes with a heat shield built right into the heel. Chances are very good that it will eventually be the hottest shoe on the market.”

2. Martin Truex Jr.: Truex finished 19th at Dover, one lap down.

“It just wasn’t our day,” Truex said. “And that sucks, because I’m really fond of that ‘Miles The Monster’ trophy. Now, I can’t tell you exactly why I like that trophy so much. In other words, I can’t give you a ‘concrete’ reason why it appeals to me.”

3. William Byron: Byron dealt with early brake issues at Dover, but overcame them on his way to a fourth in the Drydene 400.

“My brake pedal was going all the way to the floor,” Byron said. “That’s not good, although technically, I did have the ‘pedal to the metal.'”

4. Kyle Larson: Larson won Stages 1 and 2 but couldn’t hold off Hendrick teammate Alex Bowman for the win. Larson finished second as HMS took the top four spots.

“Losing is the pits,” Larson said. “Oh, did I say ‘Losing is the pits?’ I meant to say ‘Losing in the pits,’ because that’s what we did. Did I say ‘we?’ I meant to say ‘they.'”

5. Kevin Harvick: Harvick took sixth at Dover and is now eighth in the points standings.

“It was good to see fans in the stands at Dover,” Harvick said. “Especially some without masks. Now, the fans’ full return won’t be complete until they’re allowed to be out full force in a track infield. And experience tells me that the only way to fully appreciate infield fans is without a mask, because they smell so bad you can taste them.”

6. Alex Bowman: Bowman won the race off pit road on the final pit stop and led the final 98 laps to win the Drydene 400 at Dover.

“Hendrick Motorsports cars swept the top four,” Bowman said. “They call that a ‘train,’ and they tell me no one’s run one that well at HMS since Tim Richmond.”

7. Brad Keselowski: Keselowski suffered a lug nut mishap late at Dover, which forced an extra pit stop to correct. The lost track position left the driver of the No. 2 Penske Mustang with a 16th-place finish.

“Did you see the guy dressed as Kyle Busch in the stands?” Keselowski said. “It made my day. Now there’s two Kyle Busch’s I can call an ‘ass.’ That would be called the ‘ass-ass-ination’ of Kyle Busch.”

8. Joey Logano: Logano finished fifth at Dover behind the Hendrick Motorsports 1-2-3-4 finish.

“That’s the epitome of a ‘sweep,'” Logano said. “So, basically, Hendrick took the broom to the rest of us. And speaking of ‘taking a broom,’ that’s also how Teresa Earnhardt traveled.”

9. Kyle Busch: Busch suffered early engine issues at Dover and finished 27th, seven laps down, in the Drydene 400.

“There was a fan in the stands dressed exactly like me,” Busch said. “I’m flattered, but mostly surprised, that anyone would go out of their way to look like me.”

10. Chase Elliott: Elliott finished third at Dover as Hendrick Motorsports swept the top four spots.

“I started from the rear because of multiple inspection failures,” Elliott said. “That seems to be a weekly occurrence for me. You know it may be a problem when NASCAR officials spend as much time under your hood as your mechanics.”

Camden Murphy to drive for Spencer Davis Motorsports at Circuit of the Americas

MOORESVILLE, N.C.: Spencer Davis Motorsports (SDM) announced today that Camden Murphy will pilot the team’s No. 11 truck for Saturday afternoon’s Toyota Tundra 225 at Circuit of the Americas (COTA).

A native of Itasca, Ill., Murphy is poised to make his second NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) start of the season after posting a solid and career-best 13th place finish in the second race of the year at the Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway Road Course driving for NEMCO Motorsports.

Launching his NASCAR career in 2014, Murphy, 24, has gained notoriety as being the only driver to compete in both NASCAR and Monster Jam driving a Monster Truck.

While continuing a part-time presence in NASCAR in 2017, he was crowned Monster Jam Rookie of the Year and two years later 2019 Monster Jam Rising Star.

Continuing to broaden his racing resume, Murphy is looking forward to returning to the NASCAR world behind the wheel of the No. 11 INOX Supreme Lubricants truck for team owner and mainstay driver Spencer Davis.

“I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel of the No. 11 INOX Supreme Lubricants truck for Spencer Davis Motorsports for NASCAR’s first stop at the Circuit of the Americas,” said Murphy. “I have been turning wrenches for Spencer (Davis) ever since the last time I was behind the wheel at the Daytona Road Course back in February and it has been a blast.

“The entire SDM team works hard to bring the best trucks they can to the track every week and being that I have laps at COTA, I know that we will have a great run and make all of our partners and fans proud!”

With much of the field expected to have little to no track time around the 3.4-mile road course, Murphy is hoping his previous experience at COTA in a road racing coaching role will pay dividends throughout the weekend.

“I am very thankful to have practice and qualifying on the schedule this weekend,” added Murphy. “If the weather doesn’t get in the way, the extra track time at COTA with the Spencer Davis Motorsports team will put us in a good spot for the actual race on Saturday afternoon.

“All things considered, I think we have the opportunity to contend for a top-10 finish this weekend and that would be a huge blessing not only to me but for this team and all of our partners.”

In February, SDM announced that INOX Supreme Lubricants will serve as the team’s primary partner this season.

INOX product range was first released in 1989 with the Original INOX MX3 Lubricant. The original MX3 product was in development stages for two years prior to release with testing and focus on creating the right product for the market.

The INOX product range continues to grow with 12 products on the market, each with their own many specialized qualities used in all different industries. All their products are tested and trialed before hitting the market to ensure the best of quality is maintained in the INOX name. INOX products are available at all major industrial, electrical, automotive, hardware,
bearing and mining, marine, fishing and tackle outlets, plus many more locations.

A wholly owned Australian company Candan Industries is now exporting to over 25 countries including United States of America, Canada, France, South Africa, New Zealand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Team principal Spencer Davis is happy to have Murphy behind the wheel.

“Camden has been a great asset to our Spencer Davis Motorsports team this season,” added Davis. “Now, he has a chance to continue our solid season on the track with a strong performance at COTA. I know he is excited, and we are thrilled that with his craft for road course racing, we have a legitimate chance of being in the headlines on Saturday afternoon.”

In addition to INOX Supreme Lubricants, Spencer Davis Motorsports welcomes Marshall Thermocouples, KSDT CPA, Wet Sounds and SimGear Simulators for the second road course of the 2021 NCWTS season.

Murphy is poised to make his 28th career NCWTS start in the NASCAR tripleheader weekend in Austin, Texas.

Off track, Murphy is continually active in the community, serving as an ambassador for the Ronald McDonald House Charities since 2012 and visiting numerous Ronald McDonald Houses throughout the world.

The Toyota Tundra 225 (41 laps | 139.81 miles) is the ninth of 22 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races on the 2021 schedule. Practice begins on Fri., May 21st from 2:05 p.m. – 2:55 p.m. Qualifying is set for the following morning beginning at 8:05 a.m. The field will take the green flag later in the day shortly after 12:30 p.m. CT with live coverage on FOX Sports 1, the Motor Racing Network (Radio) and SiriusXM Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 90. Spencer Boyd Looks in the Mirror with HairClub® Sponsorship Extension

Mooresville, NC (TBD, 2021) – NASCAR Driver Spencer Boyd is debuting a never-before-seen paint scheme with longstanding partner HairClub, as part of their recent partnership extension. The theme, focused on building confidence when looking in the mirror, will debut on the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado later this season.

“The past year has been crazy,” reflected Spencer Boyd. “Taking care of yourself has never been more important. Everyone looks in the mirror every day and I can honestly say I am more confident because of what HairClub products have done for my hair. This reverse paint scheme is certainly different but a great reminder to take care of yourself.”

This year’s partnership will have some great giveaways and fan involvement including a chance to race Spencer in a go-kart on September 18 in the Charlotte, NC area. As they did last year, HairClub is offering NASCAR fans a free hair health checkup and a free hair care kit as part of the partnership. Find a location near you at www.hairclub.com/find-a-center/.

“We asked Spencer to train with UFC Hall of Fame inductee, Forrest Griffin, last year,” said Mike Nassar, President and CEO of HairClub. “I’m not sure we’ll ask him to take any more punches, but Spencer will be giving us a look at some behind the scenes content and we may bring back Hair Wars, so stay tuned.”

NASCAR driver Spencer Boyd is a client of HairClub visiting Centers regularly and using EXT products to help his hair growth and scalp health. The Rear-View Mirror HairClub No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado will make its first appearance later this season and will appear throughout the year as an associate sponsor.

Idemitsu Lubricants America and Mazda Motorsports Cap Record-Setting Race Weekend with Podium Finish at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

Source: Idemitsu Lubricants America Corporation

LEXINGTON, Ohio, May 17, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Under nearly perfect weather conditions at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, the Idemitsu Lubricants America-sponsored No. 55 Mazda Motorsports Mazda RT24-P DPi, driven by Harry Tincknell and Oliver Jarvis, qualified on pole and led the first half of the 122-lap race, before finishing third at the IMSA Acura Sports Car Challenge sprint race Sunday.

The podium finish capped a weekend that saw Tincknell smash the Mid-Ohio track record for the Daytona Prototype international class cars to qualify number one. Tincknell stormed the 13-turn, 2.258-mile road course in 1 minute, 10.027 seconds (116.080 mph) during qualifying to lower the IMSA DPi track record by almost 0.7 seconds, a record previously held by Mazda and Oliver Jarvis.

At the drop of the green flag, Tincknell and Jarvis dominated for the first half of the race before relinquishing the lead and fighting hard for the podium finish. “It definitely hurts that the trophy has a number 3 on it,” said Tincknell after the race. “A 15-second lead in the race but the roll of the strategic dice didn’t fall our way this time. Super proud of every member of the team for a fantastic job and turnaround this weekend.”

The record-setting effort was met with enthusiasm by the Idemitsu support team. “It was a great weekend for Idemitsu and Mazda, setting a track record in qualifying and running strong in the race,” said Mike Park, Senior Director OES and Automotive Aftermarket, Idemitsu Lubricants America. “We have three podium finishes this year and are challenging for every win.”

The Mazda Motorsports Idemitsu No. 55 team resumes action June 11-12 when the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season continues at the Detroit Grand Prix.
