Spencer Boyd Announces Credit MRI Darlington Throwback with Jack Sprague

Mooresville, NC (May 11, 2021) – Long-time sponsor of Spencer Boyd, Freedom Warranty, will be the primary sponsor for the No. 20 Chevrolet Silverado at the inaugural NASCAR weekend at Circuit of the Americas. This race will be Boyd’s 100th start in all three of NASCAR’s national touring series and will be memorialized with a special edition Lionel Racing diecast.

The 25-year-old driver out of the Young’s Motorsports stable commented on the milestone, “If you asked the 14-year-old me, who somehow convinced his parents to move to Charlotte to chase a racing dream, if I’d be at this point in my career, I might have laughed. Everyone who ever steps into a racecar wants to make it big. I’d like to think that my 100th race is big considering what had to be done to get here, but I’ve got more goals and I intend to be here for a while.”

Spencer Boyd’s first start was at Martinsville Speedway on April 2, 2016 with the late Mike Mittler and fellow St. Louis native. Among 3 NASCAR Cup Series starts, 41 NASCAR Xfinity Series starts and 55 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts, he has one win to his credit coming in the 2019 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Talladega. It was at this race-winning weekend that Freedom Warranty first joined Boyd as an associate sponsor; a relationship that has continued to grow through the years.

Freedom Warranty is unveiling their first unique primary paint scheme for this race. Their previous primary sponsored race was in 2020 with a Todd Bodine throwback at Darlington Raceway. The scheme highlights the different protection plans of their business, Complete, Drive, Vital, and Classic while flying the Red, White, and Blue. The paint scheme will be made into an officially NASCAR licensed diecast by Lionel Racing and will be available at this link: https://www.lionelracing.com/search?keywords=Spencer%20Boyd

The Austin weekend will be jam-packed for Boyd. Practice will be on Friday at COTA leading up to the first ever NASCAR race on Saturday. Later Saturday night, Boyd will join Freedom Warranty at Buck’s Backyard in Buda, TX for a rock and roll concert with Mitch Malloy, lead singer of the band Great White. Then on Sunday, Boyd will be the guest of honor at COTA’s neighbor and associate sponsor, Bob’s Container’s Shake & Bake party where an exotic car show with E1 Motorsports and free samples of Texas Ranger Whiskey will prime fans for the NASCAR Cup Series race.

The Toyota Tundra 250 at Circuit of the Americas will be a double header with the NASCAR Xfinity Series on Saturday, May 22. Television coverage starts at 1:00pm ET on Fox Sports 1 and can be heard on the Motor Racing Network or Sirius XM Radio Channel 90.

“Dover has historically been a good place for me personally, but the thing I like most about it is all the unique challenges it brings with managing each corner and the brakes. NASCAR Top-10 Power Rankings: Darlington

Martin Truex Jr., driver of the #19 Auto-Owners Insurance Toyota, celebrates with a burnout after winning the NASCAR Cup Series Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway on May 09, 2021 in Darlington, South Carolina. (Photo by Sean Gardner/Getty Images)

Note: The quotes in this article are fictional.

1. Martin Truex Jr.: Truex swept Stages 1 and 2 at Darlington and held off Kyle Larson in the closing laps of the final stage to take the win, his third of the year.

“I could feel Kyle coming,” Truex said. “Heck, I thought he was going to pass me. When he got to within a second, I said a word that needed to be censored, out of my own frustration.”

2. Denny Hamlin: Hamlin grazed the wall late at Darlington, but held on to post a fifth in the Goodyear 400.

“I’m still winless,” Hamlin said, “and it’s very frustrating. Since I can’t win any, I’m offering ‘bonus points’ to anyone who can tell me how to break this slump.”

3. William Byron: Byron finished fourth at Darlington and is third in the points standings.

“Daytona, Darlington, and Kansas announced that upcoming summer and fall races will be held with fully open grandstands,” Byron said. “And you can best believe the same people that complained about not being able to attend a race will be the same ones complaining that they’re sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with a fellow NASCAR fan.”

4. Kevin Harvick: Harvick finished sixth at Darlington.

“I think all drivers can agree that the ‘higher horsepower-lower downforce’ package is great,” Harvick said. “We all call it the ‘How Tim Richmond Liked His Women.”

5. Kyle Larson: Larson finished second in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington after falling just short of catching Martin Truex Jr. in the final stage.

“I was so close to Truex I could taste it,” Larson said. “But I couldn’t quite get there. Therein lies the difference between me and Truex: ‘I got caught.'”

6. Brad Keselowski: Keselowski started on the pole and finished 24th at Darlington.

“It was true for me on Sunday,” Keselowski said. “Darlington is the track that’s ‘too tough to tame.’ My No. 2 Ford Mustang, at least for the day, was called the car that’s ‘too tough to tame.’ The handling was off all day.”

7. Joey Logano: Logano suffered a pit lane speeding penalty on the final pit stop of the race and finished a disappointing 13th at Darlington.

“The No. 22 Ford’s paint scheme honored Mario Andretti’s first Formula 1 victory in 1971,” Logano said. “But really, I doubt NASCAR fans care at all about Formula 1, or Formula 2, 3, or 4, for that matter. In other words, it’s a matter of ‘zero F’s given.'”

8. Kyle Busch: Busch overcame an early spin to post a third-place result at Darlington.

“My car’s paint scheme celebrated M&M’s 80th anniversary,” Busch said. “M&M’s has been a sponsor of mine for years, and I’m sure having their logo on my car has made them millions. So, they’ve really exploited me and my car for their gain. Talk about ‘milk’ chocolate.”

9. Chase Elliott: Elliott finished seventh at Darlington and is eighth in the points standings.

“My car honored 1992 Cup champion Alan Kulwicki,” Elliott said, “and featured the throwback Hooters paint scheme. Rumor has it that Kulwicki once visited the ‘private back room’ at one particular Hooters, where he allegedly received a ‘Polish victory lap dance.'”

10. Ryan Blaney: Blaney tagged the wall late while running in the top five and settled for an eighth in the Goodyear 400.

“NASCAR just revealed the ‘Next Gen’ car,” Blaney said. “At first glance, it looks really cool, sleek, and futuristic. On second glance, it didn’t pass inspection.”

2021 Mid-Engine Corvette Stingray Convertible To Lead Field to Green Flag of 105th Indianapolis 500 Presented by Gainbridge

This is 18th time a Chevrolet Corvette has paced ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing’

INDIANAPOLIS (Tuesday, May 11, 2021) – The 2021 mid-engine Chevrolet Corvette Stingray hardtop convertible will lead the 33-car field to the green flag for the 105th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on May 30, 2021. The Arctic White Stingray will be the first convertible since 2008 to pace the iconic race.

Chevrolet and Corvette have led the starting field more than any other manufacturer and nameplate, respectively. The 2021 race marks the 32nd time for Chevrolet to pace dating back to 1948, and the 18th time since 1978 for America’s favorite sports car.

“The Chevrolet team is privileged every time we’re invited to pace the Indianapolis 500,” said Steve Majoros, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing. “We are confident the track-capable Corvette Stingray Convertible will catch every race fan’s eye as it leads the pack toward the Yard of Bricks. From the color scheme, to the special race weekend decals and how the safety lighting is skillfully integrated into the nacelles of the hard-top convertible Corvette’s revolutionary appearance, we’re putting Chevrolet’s best on display for the fans.”

The exterior and interior of the Corvette Convertible will be on full display as the car fulfills responsibilities on and off track. Sky Cool Gray and Strike Yellow upholstery selected for the cabin influenced the racy exterior appearance of the pace car. A close look at the car reveals Indianapolis 500 logos adapted specifically for pace car use, an exclusive stripe package, unique Stingray decals and more.

For racers, highly visible safety lighting on the pace car is a top priority. Corvette designers prioritized form and function by incorporating four lights into each of the tonneau cover nacelles, in addition to strobe lights in the headlights, front louvers and taillights. This maintains the Corvette Convertible’s signature silhouette and eliminates need for a traditional lightbar.

“The 2021 Corvette Stingray hardtop convertible is such a world-class performance car that’s a perfect match to lead the talented field of 33 drivers to the green flag in ‘The Greatest Spectacle in Racing,’” Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles said. “We continue to be grateful for our strong, enduring partnership with Chevrolet and its many contributions to the success of our events and the exciting appeal of competition at the Racing Capital of the World.”

The mid-engine 2021 Corvette Stingray was engineered first and foremost as a convertible. The convertible maintains the tunnel-dominant structure and use of high-integrity die-cast parts found in the Stingray coupe.

Like the coupe, the Stingray convertible’s design was inspired by fighter jets. The tonneau cover features aerodynamically shaped nacelles influenced by the housing used for jet engines. The nacelles, which were also used as inspiration on the Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle (CERV) I and II, as well as the Corvette SS and SR2 concepts, help reduce air recirculation into the cabin and provide a remarkably exotic profile with the top up or down. The tonneau also provides a rear power-adjustable window and a vent for mid-engine cooling.

The 2021 Corvette Stingray convertible is powered by the next-generation 6.2L Small Block V-8 LT2 engine, the only naturally aspirated V-8 in the segment. It will produce 495 horsepower (369 kW) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque when equipped with performance exhaust — the most horsepower and torque for any entry Corvette.

The LT2 is paired with Chevrolet’s first eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which provides lightning-fast shifts and excellent power transfer. This transmission is uniquely designed to provide the best of both worlds: the spirited, directly connected feeling of a manual and the premium driving comfort of an automatic. The double-paddle de-clutch feature even allows the driver to disconnect the clutch by holding both paddles for more manual control.

When combined, the advanced propulsion system, revised chassis tuning and retractable hardtop make the Stingray the most no-compromise Corvette convertible in history.

Chevrolet has a storied history at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Chevrolet was founded in 1911, the year of the inaugural 500-mile race. Company co-founder and namesake Louis Chevrolet, along with brothers Arthur and Gaston, competed in early Indy 500s. Arthur competed in the 1911 race and Gaston won in 1920.

Nine drivers with Chevrolet engines have combined to win “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” 11 times, with Rick Mears, Emerson Fittipaldi, Arie Luyendyk, Al Unser Jr., Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan, Juan Pablo Montoya, Will Power and, most recently, Simon Pagenaud in 2019.

Team Chevy also has won the NTT INDYCAR SERIES manufacturer championship six times since 2012.

Visit IMS.com for more information about this year’s schedule.

The race will be televised live on NBC for the third consecutive year, with the pre-race show starting at 11 a.m. The INDYCAR Radio Network will provide live coverage of the race to its affiliates and on Sirius 211, XM 205, indycar.com and the INDYCAR Mobile App powered by NTT DATA.

PLANTERS Teams Up with Newman, Roush Fenway for Nashville Race

MR. PEANUT to Appear on Newman’s No. 6 Ford During Nashville Race Weekend

CONCORD, N.C., (May 11, 2021) – The 115-year-old snack brand PLANTERS and the iconic MR. PEANUT have teamed up with Roush Fenway Racing and will serve as the primary partner aboard Ryan Newman’s No. 6 Ford during NASCAR’s race weekend at Nashville Superspeedway, June 19-20.

“PLANTERS and MR. PEANUT are looking forward to partnering with Ryan Newman and the Roush Fenway Racing team this season,” said Rafik Lawendy, Head of Marketing for Planters. “This may be the nuttiest car in NASCAR’s history, and with Newman at the wheel, it’s sure to go a nut above the competitors.”

In addition to having the primary livery in Nashville, PLANTERS will be on Newman’s Mustang as an associate for the four races leading up to Nashville – COTA, Charlotte (Coke 600), Sonoma and Texas (All-Star). The return to Music City is featured as one of the many schedule changes on NASCAR’s revamped 2021 slate.

“We’re excited to team up with an iconic brand like PLANTERS, for what should be a good race weekend in Nashville,” said Hall of Fame team owner Jack Roush. “We’re looking forward to putting the No. 6 PLANTERS Ford on the track and it’s our hope and full intention to have MR. PEANUT up front and competing for the win at Nashville.”

The 1.33-mile concrete track in Lebanon – about a 40-minute drive from Nashville – hosted NASCAR, ARCA and IndyCar events during its operation from 2001-11. Dover Motorsports, which owns and oversees Dover International Speedway, built and owns Nashville Superspeedway.

Newman has never raced at the facility, but the race weekend schedule is one of the few throughout the year to feature both practice and qualifying. Teams are scheduled for one 50-minute practice session on Saturday, with qualifying set for Sunday just prior to the race rolling off at 2:30 p.m. CT/3:30 p.m. ET. Newman has more than 340 starts on 1-2-mile tracks in his veteran NASCAR career, with 11 wins and 125+ top-10s on those tracks.

No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 Team Eager for the First Sprint Race of the Season for the Acura Sports Car Challenge Presented by the TLX Type S

Brownsburg, Ind. (May 11, 2021) The current 2021 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship leaders will compete at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this weekend for the first sprint race of the season. Ricky Taylor and Filipe Albuquerque will co-drive the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 around the 2.258-mile, 13-turn track for the two-hour, 40-minute Acura Sports Car Challenge Presented by the TLX Type S.

Although the No. 10 Konica Minolta team has yet to achieve a victory at the famed Ohio sports car course, Acura, as a manufacturer, has won the past three races in a row at this venue. Earning their first Mid-Ohio podium last year the team hopes having last year’s race winner, Ricky Taylor back in their Acura ARX 05 cockpit, will bring them to the top rung In Victory Lane.

Ricky Taylor, who has two victories and one pole position at Mid-Ohio, is eager to produce the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05’s first victory at the track and, equally importantly, extend the team’s championship lead.

“It’s been too long a break since Sebring,” said Ricky Taylor. “I can’t wait to get in the rhythm of the season with Filipe and I working together. Mid-Ohio has always been a great track for the Acura ARX-05, so we need to capitalize on that and build on our championship lead and try and get the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 its first victory at that racetrack.”

“I can’t wait to go to Mid-Ohio,” noted Filipe Albuquerque. “It’s a track that suits the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 perfectly. This will be the first sprint race of the year and my first sprint race with the team and with Ricky. I always came to Mid-Ohio with a bad perspective because I was never competitive there with my previous car, so I’m really looking forward to going with the Acura because they were so competitive in the past. Now we just need to deliver a win.”

“We are really looking forward to going to Mid-Ohio this weekend,” said team owner Wayne Taylor. “ After such a long break, it feels like we’re starting a new season. It’s the only track we haven’t won as a team which is strange for us. The last three years the Acuras have dominated there, so hopefully going there with a better car can get the job done. Brian Pillar and the crew have been doing a great amount of work to prepare. Filipe recently won at Spa, so he’s coming over after winning another race and I think that Ricky and he are ready to give it what it needs to get that win at Mid-Ohio.”

Practice for the No. 10 Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 team begins on Friday, May 14th at 4:30 p.m. ET. Qualifying for Sunday’s main event begins at 12:20 p.m. ET with green flag on May 16th at 2:40 p.m. ET. Live coverage of the Acura Sports Car Challenged Presented by the TLX Type S will begin at 2:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports.

Spire Motorsports Partners With Drydene for Drydene 400

CONCORD, N.C. (May 11, 2021) – Spire Motorsports announced today that Drydene will serve as the primary sponsor of Corey LaJoie’s No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE in Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) Drydene 400 at Dover International Speedway.

Drydene Performance Products, an American-owned and -operated company, is headquartered in Warminster, Pennsylvania. Drydene’s reputation as the “hardest working brand in heavy-duty lubrication” is backed up by a complete line of automotive, commercial, and industrial lubricants, including engine oils, diesel exhaust fluid (DEF), transmission fluids, grease, and hydraulic and gear oils. From grassroots to NASCAR, Drydene is also known for its love and support of all levels of racing.

“We are excited to have Corey continue to be a part of Team Drydene for a third consecutive year and also partnering with Spire Motorsports for the Drydene 400 race at Dover International Speedway,” said Dave Klinger, President of Drydene Performance Products. “Corey is an amazing competitor on the track and a true Drydene brand ambassador off of it. Everyone at Drydene is looking forward to seeing Corey drive the No. 7 Drydene Camaro and hopefully parking it in victory lane.”

LaJoie’s association with Drydene dates back to 2019 during his time in the cockpit of the No. 32 entry for Go FAS Racing.

LaJoie announced his move to Spire Motorsports in November 2020 and has made 12 starts for the Concord, N.C., organization this season. He jump-started the 2021 campaign with a spirited ninth-place showing at the season-opening Daytona 500. In recent weeks, the 29-year-old has logged a trio of top-25 finishes, including a just-miss top 20 at Richmond Raceway where he came home 21st.

He picked up his third top 25 of the season last weekend following a solid 22nd-place showing at Darlington Raceway in the Goodyear 400 during the Official Throwback Weekend of NASCAR. While he may not have won the race, LaJoie’s Alan Kulwicki inspired throwback paint scheme was the talk of the sport and given high praise throughout the weekend by competitors, broadcasters and industry insiders alike.

LaJoie has seven previous NCS Dover starts and logged nearly 2,200 laps on NASCAR’s senior circuit at the “The Monster Mile.” He is currently 30th in points 12 races into the 2021 schedule, just nine points back from 29th.

In NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition, the Concord, N.C., native has recorded five starts at the high-banked, one-mile concrete oval, notching one win, three top-five and four top-10 finishes.

“It’s great to have Drydene back on board this weekend at Dover International Speedway,” said LaJoie. “Drydene has been a great supporter of mine over the years, so I’m proud to continue that relationship after making the transition to Spire Motorsports. As the entitlement sponsor of both the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity races this weekend, it’s obvious Drydene is committed to our sport. I can’t thank Drydene enough for continuing to invest in both NASCAR and my career. We’re looking to put a good run together on Sunday at the Monster Mile.”

“We’re proud that Drydene thought enough of Spire Motorsports to join Corey for another year when he signed with our team,” commented Spire Motorsports co-owner T.J. Puchyr. “We’re still a very young team and this is our first year running two cars, but we’re making gains every week. Corey has proven that he knows his way around Dover and can get the job done. We know he’ll do a good job for Drydene on Sunday.”

The Drydene 400 from Dover International Speedway will be televised live on FS1 Sunday, May 16 beginning at 2 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The 13th of 36 races on the 2021 NCS schedule will be broadcast live on the Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

Brown on Dover:
“I’ve had Dover circled on the calendar for quite a while now; with its intensity, speed and demanding driving style, it has quickly become one of my favorite race tracks on the circuit. For me, it really brings back the feeling of short track racing and it’s also pretty close to home, so I know that I’ll have family and friends in the stands as well as some of the Brandonbilt Foundations employees, so that’s going to be really special.

“This weekend will be the third time this season that the Brandonbilt Foundations car has been on track, but the first time in front of employees and I can’t wait for that.

“With our past performance at Dover, I feel like this could be a good opportunity for us to capitalize on stage points and really try to go for a stage win or maybe even grab the checkered flag. Really, my goal is to maximize points and get us back in playoff contentions, so hopefully we can have a smooth, consistent race and maybe even tame the Monster Mile in the process.”

About Brandonbilt Motorsports

Brandonbilt Motorsports is a family-owned, professional stock car team competing full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS). Owned and operated by Woodbridge, Virginia native, Jerry Brown, Brandonbilt Motorsports has quickly become a household name in the NASCAR Xfinity Series through hard work and determination. As a smaller team in the NXS, Brandonbilt Motorsports’ goal has always been to do the most with less, while also becoming a contending organization in every race that it enters. Brandonbilt Motorsports shocked the racing world in 2020 as driver, Brandon Brown, secured the team’s first playoff berth in only its second, full-time season in the NXS, before going on to finish the year 11th in the overall points standings. On the horizon in 2021, Brandonbilt Motorsports looks to pick up where it left off as a playoff-caliber team at each event it enters. To learn more, visit bmsraceteam.com.

THAD MOFFITT NEXT GENERATION BRAND AMBASSADOR FOR GOODY’S® HEADACHE POWDERS

Moffitt Continues the Family Legacy with Prestige Consumer Healthcare Inc.

WELCOME, N.C. (May 11, 2021) – Thaddeus “Thad” Moffitt, driver of the No. 46 Ford Fusion in the ARCA Menards Series for David Gilliland Racing (DGR), has entered into a personal services agreement with Prestige Consumer Healthcare Inc., the largest independent provider of over-the-counter products in North America, to become the next generation brand ambassador for Goody’s® Headache Powders.

Through this new partnership, the 20-year-old will carry Goody’s® branding on the No. 46 Ford Fusion throughout the 2021 ARCA Menards Series season. Goody’s® Cool Orange branding will be included on Moffitt’s suit.

A fourth-generation driver, Moffitt is the second member of the Petty family to be part of the rich history with Prestige Consumer Healthcare Inc., trusted brands.

“I am excited to partner with Goody’s® Headache Powders,” Moffitt said. “Goody’s® has been a part of the Petty family for a long time – and curing our headaches for as long as I can remember. It will be cool to work with Grandpa, and continue the family history with Goody’s®.

“To carry Goody’s® Cool Orange is exciting, and I am looking forward to growing with the brand.” Moffitt, the grandson of NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty, will represent the entire Goody’s® Headache Powders line, with an emphasis on Goody’s® Cool Orange targeted to introduce a younger audience to the product. Richard Petty has been a Goody’s® spokesperson since 1977 – the same year Goody’s® became one of the first non-automotive sponsors of NASCAR. The partnership is the longest continuous span as a brand collaboration in racing – and arguably the longest of its kind in all of sports.

“We are excited to welcome Thad Moffitt to the Goody’s® team, while also continuing Goody’s® legacy with the Richard Petty organization,” Goody’s® brand manager Dee Scates said.

Moffitt made his ARCA Menards Series debut in 2017. In the ARCA Menards Series, Moffitt has four topfive finishes and 16 top-10 finishes in 32 career starts. The Trinity, N.C.,-native earned a career-best thirdplace finish at the Phoenix (Ariz.) Raceway on March 12, 2021.
