CORVETTE RACING AT SEBRING: Aiming for Florida Sweep

· First race since 1-2 GTLM finish at Daytona to open 2021
· Twelve wins at Sebring for Corvette Racing program
· No. 4 Corvette looking for second Sebring win in nine months
· Chevrolet Motorsports Display, Chevy Ride and Drive a must-see for Sebring fans

DETROIT (March 16, 2021) – Corvette Racing seeks the second leg of sports car racing’s Triple Crown this weekend as it heads back to Florida for the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring presented by Advance Auto Parts.

The two-car team is coming off a 1-2 class finish in Rolex 24 At Daytona to start its 2021 season. Antonio Garcia, Jordan Taylor and Nicky Catsburg were winners in the GT Le Mans (GTLM) category of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the No. 3 Mobil 1/SiriusXM Chevrolet Corvette C8.R. They were only a handful of seconds – 3.519 to be exact – ahead of No. 4 Corvette teammates Tommy Milner, Nick Tandy and Alexander Sims.

That puts Corvette Racing and Chevrolet 1-2 in the early-season GTLM points standings. The No. 3 Corvette group leads over the No. 4 C8.R in full-season points, but the positions are switched in the Michelin Endurance Cup. The four-race championship is made of IMSA’s four long-distance races with Milner, Tandy and Sims claiming the most points at the pre-determined marks of the Rolex 24. Sebring serves as the second round of the MEC.

All signs point toward Corvette Racing contending for its 13th victory at Sebring International Raceway and 12th in the annual 12-hour enduro. The program’s last two Rolex 24 victories in 2015 and 2016 led to race wins at Sebring only weeks later.

The Sebring 12 Hours is steeped in Corvette Racing history. The event has witnessed the team take 11 class victories since 2002, and four of the six drivers have previously won there. Garcia is a three-time winner with Corvette at the event, and Tandy has won the last three years at the 12 Hours. Milner has three Sebring wins with Corvette – two in the 12 Hours plus July’s sprint race – and Taylor was part of one overall winning effort in the 12 Hours.

This is the third race at Sebring for Corvette Racing and the WeatherTech Championship in the last nine months. The team finished 1-2 in July’s Cadillac Grand Prix of Sebring with Tommy Milner and Oliver Gavin winning in the No. 4 Corvette C8.R. Garcia and GTLM pole-winner Taylor were second on their way to the GTLM Drivers, Manufacturers and Team championships; Garcia also was the GTLM pole-winner for November’s 12 Hours.

The mid-engine C8.R and Corvette Stingray street car were developed simultaneously, and the race car and production vehicle share more technology and parts than any previous-generation Corvette. When initial Corvette C8.R design and development work began more than six years ago, Corvette Racing engineers worked closely alongside Corvette production personnel with a heavy emphasis on wind tunnel and simulation testing.

Chevrolet Motorsports Display, Ride and Drive Return to Sebring
In addition to happenings on the racetrack at Sebring, fans will have no shortage of things to see and do from Chevrolet. That’s because two locations at the circuit – Chevrolet Motorsports Display and Chevrolet Ride and Drive – will be full of Chevrolet vehicles that spectators can learn more about throughout the weekend.

The Chevrolet Motorsports Display opens at 9 a.m. Thursday, 8:30 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday in the Sebring Midway. Numerous Chevrolet vehicles and other highlights include:

• Coupe and convertible models of the mid-engine Corvette Stingray.
• Additional Chevrolet products such as Blazer, Silverado, Tahoe and the Bolt EV.
• An opportunity to receive a Team Chevy t-shirt via a QR code scan.

The Sebring Skidpad outside of Turn 17 can sample a Chevrolet vehicle for themselves at the Ride and Drive event. Starting at 9 a.m. each day, spectators have the chance to test a wide variety of Chevrolets include Tahoe, Camaro, Bolt EV, Blazer, Trailerblazer, Colorado and Silverado.

The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET on Saturday, March 20. The race will air on NBCSN from 10 a.m.-noon and 7-10:30 p.m. ET. The full race will be streamed on TrackPass via NBC Sports Gold and the NBC Sports App. IMSA Radio will air full qualifying and race coverage at IMSA.com along with Sirius 216, XM 392 and SiriusXM Online 992.

ANTONIO GARCIA, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “Getting the Rolex 24 win is the best way we can start the season. We now have that elusive endurance win for the Corvette C8.R. Naturally we want the next win to be Sebring. This always has been a fantastic event for Corvette Racing. We have completed many miles in testing, practicing and racing. I feel like I’ve been over every bump around the circuit! The 12 Hours is always a really big challenge for what lies ahead of us for the balance of the year. This is another excellent chance to test ourselves.”

JORDAN TAYLOR, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “The Sebring 12 Hours last year was crucial to the success we’ve already had this year. Development-wise from a performance point of view, we learned a lot of stuff throughout that weekend. Sebring is a great test track. From a reliability and durability point of view in 2020, an endurance win was the only thing missing. The Sebring 12 Hours last year set us up perfectly. It pointed out some of our weaknesses and things we needed work on. It forced us to do that and learn and develop. Already in 2021, that’s showing in our success at Daytona. It’s exciting for us to start the season so strong that like, and it gives us more confidence going into Sebring.”

NICKY CATSBURG, NO. 3 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “It will be a thrill going back to Sebring again after a few visits in recent months. I feel like the Corvette continues to get stronger but there is nothing you can take for granted at Sebring. It is the hardest, most physical 12 hours of racing we will do this year. The bumps, the layout of the track and the heat this time of year can take a lot out of a driver. But I personally feel very prepared just like everyone at Corvette Racing. Even though we finished 1-2 at the Rolex 24, we all feel like we have something to prove again at Sebring.”

TOMMY MILNER, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “To be honest, this feels normal… going to Sebring in March for the 12 Hours. That feels normal to us. It doesn’t feel weird going back already. We’re not too far removed from the 12 Hours, but there have been quite a few changes for us with new drivers and a renewed push on the engineering side to buckle down and tighten up all the issues we had in November. One thing we always do at Corvette Racing is learn lessons from the past and use those to improve ourselves. Daytona obviously was a strong race from both cars and the team as a whole. The cars were quite reliable on all fronts. With two new teammates, it’s all very different driving with Alexander and Nick. They both have so much experience at big events like Sebring that it doesn’t feel like a big change from the driving aspect. We’ve had a couple of tests at Sebring with everyone, so it should be business as usual for everyone once we get to the race.”

NICK TANDY, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “I’ve won the last three 12-hour races there and hope to keep that going to make it a fourth. The first few times I raced the 12 hours, it wasn’t my favorite event because we never got on particularly well. Recently, it just seems to be a race that has come to me at the end of it. There have been situations and circumstances that suited me, along with a bit of luck. Being able to be around to pick up the pieces and be quick when needed is key. I’m hoping to bring some of that magic and use it this year.”
“The thing about Sebring is that it is the toughest track on man and machine that we go to. It’s normally pretty hot that time of year. Starting in the day and going into the night makes it a long race. What has made it special to me is the people that are there and the ones that create the atmosphere around Sebring. It’s been one of the most fun events I’ve competed at over the years.”

ALEXANDER SIMS, NO. 4 MOBIL 1/SiriusXM CHEVROLET CORVETTE C8.R: “Sebring is one of the big events that I have looked forward to since joining Corvette Racing. The track and event have a fantastic history, and the fans there create a great atmosphere. It’s a shame we can’t interact with them like normal but hopefully that day is coming soon. The race itself is one of the toughest any driver can do around the world. It’s an absolutely brutal lap around Sebring but also one of the most memorable the times you get it right. The bumps and tarmac changes present challenges you don’t find anywhere else in motorsport. It will be good to get back there.”

Wright Motorsports Enters New Carrera Cup Series with Three Car Effort

BATAVIA, Ohio, (March 16, 2021) – The newly-established Porsche Carrera Cup North America begins its inaugural season this weekend at Sebring International Raceway in support of the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Presented by Advance Auto Parts. Wright Motorsports has joined the premier one-make series with three Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car entries, to be driven by John Goetz, Hutton McKenna, and Max Root.

“I’m very proud of the program we’ve been able to assemble,” said Team Owner John Wright. “The new Porsche Carrera Cup is the perfect addition to the North American sports car racing ladder. This will make for excellent proving grounds for John, Hutton, and Max, now a Porsche Junior Program driver. I’m excited to see how this series will go, and grateful we get to be a part of it.”

Sanctioned by the International Motorsports Association (IMSA) and managed by Porsche Motorsport North America (PMNA), the one-make series is scheduled to host 16 rounds at eight venues in North America, most often in support of the WeatherTech Sports Car championship. Two 45-minute races will take place each weekend, with drivers competing in three classes: Pro, Pro-Am, and Pro-Am 991.

As the sole gentleman driver on the team, John Goetz is returning to Wright Motorsports with ample experience racing a Porsche with Wright Motorsports. He previously competed in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama after a decade of club racing in the Porsche Club of America and the Trophy East Series. Goetz will race the No. 57 Porsche this season in the Pro-Am class.

“I’m excited to join Wright team in the Carrera Cup inaugural season,” said Goetz. “It’s been over five years since I last raced with Wright. Frankly, I’ve missed being part of the tight ship they run. As a gentleman driver, I’m honored to be sharing the space with two exceptional young drivers that I can learn from and also be supported by an excellent crew. Sebring is a challenging track with a challenging field—all the better to be pushed hard.”

Hutton McKenna, son of IMSA race winner Danny McKenna, is setting out on his own professional racing journey. After a successful run in the Porsche Trophy West USA where he earned six wins and two second place finishes, McKenna is now stepping up to the next level of competition to race the No. 88 Porsche, which will sport a special livery for the occasion. The car’s look will pay homage to the Alex Job Racing Porsche his dad raced in the 2000s, sponsored by McKenna Porsche dealership.

“I’m very excited to be racing with Wright Motorsports this season,” said McKenna. “The level of professionalism from this team is unparalleled, and I look forward to achieving great results with an amazing team behind me.”

After winning the GT World Challenge America Am championship last season with Wright Motorsports and Fred Poordad, Root is back to continue his racing career, now as a Porsche Junior Program North America driver. He closed out the 2020 season with seven wins and an additional four podiums to add to his resume, including a class victory at the Indianapolis 8 Hour. He’ll run the No. 7 Porsche this season, as a partnership effort between Moorespeed and Wright Motorsports.

“I’m extremely humbled to be joining the Moorespeed-Wright Motorsports collaboration in the inaugural season of the Carrera Cup North America in the Porsche Junior Program,” said Root. “This is an amazing opportunity, and I cannot wait to get down to Sebring, get my feet on the ground, and to really focus on the championship this year. It is an amazing driver field from all over the world, and to participate in such an amazing series as Carrera Cup with Carrera Cup Germany celebrating its 32nd anniversary this year. It is a really special thing to come to North America, and I can’t think everyone with this program together enough.”

The collaborative effort between old friends David Moore and John Wright came together after last minute sponsorship changes to Moorespeed’s program resulted in the loss of their driver. Wright learned of the news and extended an offer to Moore, presenting an option for the two to join together and create an opportunity for Max Root to drive.

“Others had offered to buy the car, but I was pretty adamant that I wanted a young driver in the car, as we’ve steered our program lately more towards preparing young drivers for the top ranks,” said Moore. “Johnny [Wright] was the only guy that suggested a plan that put a young American, Max Root, in the seat. It was all his idea. Our relationship as friends and competitors goes back to the mid-90s, and I’m really humbled that our friendship took the lead helping Max get in the car.”

The deal came together just days before last week’s series test at Sebring International Raceway, allowing Root to participate in the final two sessions. The 2009 Rolex 24 At Daytona race winner and longtime Porsche racer RJ Valentine contributed to the effort, helping pull together the resources needed to support the youngster.

“Even though David Moore and I have been competitors over half of our lives, we have always shared a passion for racing and giving young drivers opportunities to grow and develop in order to rise through the ranks,” said Wright. “I’m grateful to David and his help to get the third car on the grid. Our friendship goes back over 25 years, and I’m proud to be working with him on this effort.”

The race weekend festivities for the Porsche Carrera Cup North America will start with a 30-minute practice series on Wednesday, March 17, followed by qualifying the following afternoon. The new series will officially begin its season with race one on Thursday at 5:30PM ET. Race two will follow on Friday morning at 10:10AM. Both races will stream live for free on imsa.tv. Smart Car Ownership: Weighing out Options When Buying a Secondhand Car

Buying a car is an exciting yet stressful experience. Not only will you have to set a budget, but there’s plenty of factors involved, such as the model, engine, workmanship, brand, and price. In fact, all these things play a big role in your decision-making process as they can affect your lifestyle and finances in the next few years.

But as prices of brand-new cars continue to soar, it became harder for car buyers to buy a new vehicle these days. This led them to turn to used car markets or dealers to buy cheaper secondhand cars. With a small budget, your choices will certainly revolve around affordable options. After all, a used car is an affordable alternative to a new ride.

For some, deciding whether they want a new or used car is an easy decision. But other prospective buyers place more focus on saving more money. Whatever side you’re on, this article will weigh all the options when buying a used or brand-new car.

Benefits of Getting a Used Car

Most car buyers will never consider getting a new car because of high costs, but used cars have plenty of benefits besides lower prices.

Depreciation takes the largest portion of the costs of owning a car. Getting a used vehicle means lesser depreciation hit. Car depreciation happens once you drive off the new car out of the dealer’s shop and its value starts to drop.

Basically, any vehicle loses a large amount of its value during the first few years of ownership. Depreciation will only slow down in the later years. Sadly, most car owners don’t place too much attention on their cars’ depreciation value until they sell them.

Aside from depreciation, buying a used car saves more money when getting car insurance and paying for taxes. Although the interest rate remains high, you will likely pay a lower interest while paying for the loan. Not only that, a used car will fit easily into your monthly budget because of low monthly payments. You also avoid applying for a loan that often takes more than six years, making the buying experience more horrible.

For example, if a new car costs 20% less after the first year, wouldn’t it be better to get an almost brand-new car and save more money? Although car owners rarely sell their car after buying one, you can find vehicles on second-hand dealerships less than two years old.

Also, buying a nicer vehicle is possible with a used car. Since used cars are much cheaper than brand-new ones, you can purchase a better model you never thought you could afford. For example, instead of buying the smallest Ford vehicle, buying a used Ford Explorer will provide more space for your family.

Benefits of Getting a Brand-new Car

Getting a new ride comes with several benefits. As the first owner, there is no need to worry about previous issues. You don’t have to investigate the vehicle’s history and its engines. It is also easier to find the preferred model. If it is not available at the dealership, they will help you swap or order it with other dealers.

Car companies often provide great incentives for vehicles that will be out of the market soon. It can be a cashback deal or a no-interest finance deal. Financing incentives help reduce the interest amount as you pay for the auto loan, while cashback deals decrease the price of a vehicle.

Another reason for buying a new car is getting access to the latest car technology in the market. This is very important if you value the safety of the car. Newer car models include safety technology systems, such as lane-keeping assist, accident avoidance systems, tire pressure monitors, and traction control.

Newer cars also have better connectivity and infotainment. For most car owners, a build-in navigation tool is not enough, as they prefer to stay connected to other services and monitor real-time road conditions and traffic. Brand-new cars also have full warranty coverage and better fuel efficiency, saving you more money in the long run.

Shopping and Comparing

Whatever your financial situation, buying a used or brand-new car will depend on your budget and preference. Before making a decision, make sure to find an auto loan that works for you, negotiate and discuss the sale price with the dealership, and compare all the available options. Whether you are paying by cash or loan, make sure that you will not end up buying more than you can afford.

In the end, there is no right or wrong choice, whichever car you plan to buy. Just make sure to do your research and read reliable customer reviews. If you have little knowledge about cars, consult a trusted mechanic to help you.

NASCAR Top-10 Power Rankings: Phoenix

Note: The quotes in this article are fictional.

1. Denny Hamlin: Hamlin finished third at Phoenix and maintained his lead in the points standings.

“It was a good day for the No. 11 Toyota,” Hamlin said. “So I’m happy. I would have been happier if Bubba Wallace Jr. had held on to a top 10. We think Bubba’s gonna be great. How can he not with me and Michael Jordan mentoring him on the things we know best? It’s perfect—I talk to Bubba about racing and Michael talks to him about championships.”

2. Brad Keselowski: Keselowski started on the pole and finished fourth at Phoenix, posting his third top-five of the year.

“Unfortunately,” Keselowski said, “we had two missing/loose lugnuts in post-race inspection. I’m not saying we’re looking for an advantage, but if you’re gonna ‘cut corners,’ the Phoenix track layout is the place to do it.”

3. Martin Truex Jr.: Truex pulled away late and won the Instacart 500 at Phoenix, ending a 29-race winless streak.

“It’s good to be back in Victory Lane,” Truex said. “I’d forgotten what it looked like there, and asking Kyle Busch to describe it was a waste of time.”

4. Joey Logano: Logano led a race-high 143 laps at Phoenix and finished second.

“It was about one year ago that the COVID-19 outbreak shut down our sport,” Logano said. “It’s times like those that make you take stock and be thankful you’re alive. It was the same feeling I got after being confronted by an angry Ryan Newman.”

5. Kevin Harvick: Harvick finished sixth at Phoenix.

“Jeff Gordon and Clint Bowyer had a memorable feud at Phoenix back in 2012,” Harvick said. “I think they probably would have thrown hands had an army of crew members not stepped in between them. So, much like Sunday’s race at Phoenix, nothing happened then either.”

6. Kyle Larson: Larson started at the rear after failing inspection but worked his way back to the front for a seventh-place finish.

“I failed two inspections,” Larson said. “As you know, NASCAR inspections are pretty routine, monotonous, and boring. That being said, both of mine were more exciting than the race itself.”

7. Chase Elliott: Elliott finished fifth at Phoenix, recording his second top-five result of the year.

“I started from the rear due to unapproved adjustments,” Elliott said. “For those of you not familiar with it, ‘starting from the rear’ is another term for ‘qualifying is virtually meaningless in NASCAR.'”

8. Christopher Bell: Bell finished ninth at Phoenix.

“Actor Jason Biggs served as Grand Marshal for the race,” Bell said. “His ‘start your engines’ command was awesome. And boy, did he put ‘everything into it,’ much like he did to that pie in the movie ‘American Pie.'”

9. William Byron: Byron came home eighth in the Instacart 500 as Hendrick Motorsports placed three cars in the top 10.

“Trucks series driver Stewart Friesen and his wife Jessica will be racing in the same race at Bristol on March 26th,” Byron said. “In a perfect world, the two will make contact and wreck each other, allowing a witty race reporter to ask one of them, ‘How did you two meet?'”

10. Kyle Busch: Busch finished 25th at Phoenix, his day sidetracked by a number of problems.

“Let’s see,” Busch said. “To start with, I had a penalty for an uncontrolled tire. Then, I got spun into the wall by Ross Chastain. And there was more. It was a run of bad luck matched only by my run of expletives I uttered on my radio.”

Reddick collected a total of three top-five and nine top-10 finishes during his rookie campaign in 2020.

Snider, who drove for RCR part-time in the Xfinity Series last year, has had a great start to the 2021 season, as he captured his first national touring series career win in February at Homestead-Miami Speedway. During last year’s limited starts with the team, Snider impressed with one pole award, two top-five and six top-10 finishes.

“Everyone at RCR is proud to be continuing our relationship with Alsco Uniforms during the 2021 season,” said Torrey Galida, President of Richard Childress Racing. “Our partnership has grown over the years but maintains the same core values that brought our two organizations together in the beginning, all while still continuing to outfit our crew in Alsco Uniforms. Spire Motorsports, NFL Alumni Partner to Support Folds of Honor Children’s Fund

CONCORD, N.C. (March 15, 2021) – Spire Motorsports announced today that it will partner with the NFL Alumni Association (NFLA) to support the Folds of Honor Children’s Fund for Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series (NCS) Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Corey LaJoie’s No. 7 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 1LE will feature a patriotic red, white and blue paint scheme and will showcase the NFL Alumni Association logo on the hood, decklid, TV panel and in front of the rear wheels. Meanwhile, Folds of Honor will be displayed on the upper-rear quarter panels and on the decklid of LaJoie’s machine.

The NFL Alumni Association was founded in 1967 and is the oldest and most recognizable national organization of retired professional athletes. NFL Alumni consists of former NFL players, coaches, executives, spouses, cheerleaders, and associate members. Part of NFL Alumni’s dual mission is “Caring for Kids”. Player alumni give back in their local communities by raising funds for youth-related charities through their 38 regional chapters. It is a tradition that has existed for more than 50 years. Alumni support typically raises more than $1.5 million, annually, for worthwhile causes.

The other half of NFLA’s mission, “Caring for our Own” is to serve, assist and inform its members and their families. Alumni members are offered a diverse package of wellness, business, career, and legal services to help members and their families be healthy, productive, and connected to one another.

“We want to thank T.J. Puchyr, Jeff Dickerson, Corey LaJoie and the entire Spire Motorsports team for partnering with us to help support Folds of Honor’s mission to provide scholarships to spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members,” said NFL Alumni Association’s Chief Executive Officer Beasley Reece. “This is a cause that aligns perfectly with our mission of Caring for Kids and we are honored to help improve the lives of those children. Please make sure you go to NFLalumni.org/foh to help us in this mission.”

Folds of Honor is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that provides educational scholarships to families of military men and women who have fallen or been disabled while on active duty in the United States armed forces. Folds of Honor educational scholarships support private education tuition and tutoring for children in grades K-12, as well as higher education tuition assistance for spouses and dependents.

Founded in 2007 by Lt Col Dan Rooney, a PGA member and F-16 fighter pilot currently stationed at Tyndall AFB Florida as a member of 301st Fighter Squadron who served three tours of duty in Iraq, Folds of Honor is proud to have awarded more than 29,000 scholarships in all 50 states, as well as Guam, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, including more than 4,500 in 2020 alone.

“When we were approached about flying the colors of Folds of Honor on the No. 7 Spire Motorsports NASCAR entry at Atlanta Motor Speedway, we were blown away that two great organizations such as the NFL Alumni and Spire Motorsports would go to such great lengths to help us raise money for our scholarship fund,” explained Ben Leslie, Executive Vice President of Folds of Honor. “On behalf of the recipients of our scholarships, thank you!”

LaJoie is a third-generation racer whose father and grandfather are members of the New England Auto Racing Hall of Fame. He kicked off the 2021 season with a spirited ninth-place effort at the Daytona 500. The Concord, N.C. driver is currently 29th in the NCS point standings heading into the sixth race of the year.

His passion for charitable work has raised over $240,000 for the Christian organization SamaritansFeet.org. In 2019, he hand-wrote the names of each donor onto his car and attended driver introductions at Watkins Glen International with bare feet, underscoring the need to provide shoes to less fortunate individuals all over the world. He was acknowledged for his efforts by being recognized with the 2019 National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA) distinguished Spirit Award.

“It’s always exciting to support a great cause like the Folds of Honor on our race car,” offered LaJoie. “NFL Alumni does incredible work within their community and to see that organization integrate the Folds of Honor to support scholarship opportunities for veterans and their families is incredibly admirable. I’m proud to represent both organizations in the Quik Trip Folds of Honor 500.”

“When we were presented with the opportunity to partner with NFL Alumni to support the Folds of Honor Children’s Fund, we jumped at it,” added Dickerson. “Both current and former players have a proud tradition of supporting veterans and making a positive impact in their communities. At the same time, Corey has made it a priority to be involved with charitable causes that truly make a difference. We think this program goes hand-in-hand with both Corey’s passion to help others and the NFL Alumni’s mission of ‘Caring for Kids.’”

Spire Motorsports worked in cooperation with WaV Sports Agency from conceptualization to execution in bringing the program from the drawing board to the famed 1.54-mile Atlanta Motor Speedway.

“WaV Sports is honored to have played a small part in aligning all of the parties involved to support such a worthy cause,” said WaV Sports Agency CEO Brain Klaasmeyer. “Thank you to T.J. Puchyr, Jeff Dickerson, Corey LaJoie and the entire Spire Motorsports team as well as Beasley Reece, Bart Oates and the NFL Alumni for making this happen. Most importantly thank you to the entire Folds of Honor team for carrying out this mission every day.”

The Folds of Honor Quik Trip 500 from Atlanta Motor Speedway will be televised live on FOX Sunday, March 21 beginning at 3 p.m. Eastern Standard Time (EST). The sixth of 36 races on the 2021 NCS schedule will be broadcast live on the Performance Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio Channel 90.

Despite Challenges, Bridget Finds Personal Success at Phoenix

TOOELE, UT, March 15, 2021 – Bridget Burgess and her team BMI Racing rolled into Phoenix on Friday for the first round of the ARCA Menards Series West race. This race was a combined race with the ARCA Menards Series with a stacked field of 30 cars.

The goal for the weekend was to finish the race and to continue to gain experience in a new car.

The day started of with a hour practice, which provided the opportunity for Bridget to get accustomed to her new HMH Construction Chevrolet. Even though Bridget was able to do a shake down at her home base at Utah Motorsports Campus, the practice session allowed Bridget the opportunity to really see what the car was capable of doing on the 1 mile oval.

Unfortunately, the clouds rolled in and it started to rain 10 minutes before qualifying was set to start. Qualifying ultimately was cancelled and the field was set by practice times with Bridget and the HMH Construction Chevrolet starting in 24th.

The green flag finally dropped after a 25 minute delay for the rain and track drying, and the 30 car field accelerated past the start/finish line. Bridget had a solid start but just as soon as the race started, the caution flag waived for and accident in turn one. Bridget avoided the wreck and provided the update that the car felt good and got ready for the restart.

As Bridget was nearing the half way point she lost fuel pressure and needed a push back to her pit box. The team finished up pushing the car behind pit wall to try and identify and solve the issue. The diagnosis being a fuel pick up problem and with the help of others, the team managed to get the HMH Construction Chevrolet fired up and back on track.

Bridget got back on track 32 laps down from the leaders, and with little chance of improving her overall position, Bridget and her spotter worked together on improving her race lines, passing and racecraft. Bridget and the HMH Construction Chevrolet finished the race in 22nd place.

Bridget is powered by these great companies: HMH Construction, GEARWRENCH, Rugged Radios, Cometic Gasket, Ferrea Racing Components, FK Rod Ends, Fragola Performance Systems, GC Cooling Fan, GT Radial, Hawk Performance, Impact Race Products, K&N Filters, Konig, Miller Electric, ProAm, PSC Motorsports, Sunoco Race Fuel, Tilton, XS Power

Buescher Fights Back for 18th-place Finish at Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 14, 2021) – After battling the handling on his race car all day, Chris Buescher and the No. 17 Roush Performance Ford team worked their way up to an 18th place finish at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday Afternoon.

Buescher rolled off the grid 17th but began to lose positions in the early laps with reports of an extremely tight Ford Mustang. The team pitted with the competition caution at lap 32 for fuel, four tires, air pressure and track bar adjustment. The driver restarted 21st on the bottom lane and was moving forward when he narrowly avoided a wreck at lap 46. The team stayed out under the caution to gain track position and restart 14th. By lap 64, he was shuffled back to 28th and ultimately finished stage one in 29th.

At the stage break, Buescher reported that his Ford Mustang was still very tight and the team took four tires, and fuel while making another track bar change and air pressure adjustment. The driver restarted 23rd on the bottom line and held track position until another caution came out at lap 89. The team pitted for four tires, fuel and a track bar adjustment. After restarting 26th, Buescher worked his way up to 20th despite a series of cautions. However, handling continued to hamper the Ford and with 13 to go in the stage Buescher lost a lap and finished the stage 24th.

The No. 17 team went to work for the final stage in Phoenix with adjustments to fix a vibration and tight handling Ford. After restarting 24th, the Prosper, Texas native toggled between 23rd to 26th, eventually losing a second lap to the leaders. At lap 261, the team stayed out with a caution to take a wave around and gain a lap back. After restarting 25th, Buescher held position until a late race caution at lap 281 enabled the team to be back on the lead lap. The team made one final pit stop for fuel, tires and an air pressure adjustment to restart 22nd. With a little less than 30 to go, Buescher made the most of the last laps of the race, gaining four spots to take the checkered flag 18th.

The No. 17 team returns to the track next Sunday, March 21 at Atlanta Motor Speedway at 3 p.m. EST on FOX, PRN and SiriusXM Channel 90.

Newman Finishes 28th in Phoenix

AVONDALE, Ariz. (March 14, 2021) – After sustaining damage midway through Sunday afternoon’s race, Ryan Newman finished 28th at Phoenix Raceway in the Guaranteed Rate Ford.

After rolling off the grid 19th for his 37th Cup start at the 1-mile track, Newman finished in the same spot to close out stage one, a segment that featured two yellow flags to open the 312-lap race. Restarting 16th for the second stage, Newman was poised to make a run before contact with the wall halted his progress.

The damage was an issue for the remainder of the afternoon for Newman, who finished the second stage in 30th, two laps off the pace. From there, he fought to work his way back on the lead lap and did so with a pair of late yellows, but ultimately finished one lap off the pace.

Newman and the No. 6 team return to action next weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Sunday afternoon’s race is set for 3 p.m. ET on FOX. Coverage can also be heard on PRN and SiriusXM Channel 90.
