Layne Riggs Notes

Layne Riggs is back in action this Friday night, and at a track where he has proven himself, the Bristol Motor Speedway. The Tennessee track holds a special place in Riggs and Crew Chief Dylan Cappello’s hearts, serving as the venue for the duos second career win together in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series in September of 2024 and going back-to-back in the series’ playoffs. Love’s RV Stop will join Riggs for the event and hope to return to the speedway’s Victory Lane Friday night.

Following the 200-lap event at the Martinsville Speedway, Riggs sits 8th in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series Driver Championship points standings. With just two previous starts at the Bristol Motor Speedway, Riggs has two top-10 finishes, finishing 10th in March of 2024 and first in September of 2024.

“Bristol is my favorite track,” said Riggs. “I had two great runs there last season, and I know myself and the team have what it takes to win. We’re in a really good spot as a team. We’re still looking for our first win of the season, but I know it’s coming soon, hopefully this weekend.”

Third in the Truck Series Driver Championship points standings, Smith heads to the Volunteer State with heavy momentum from his fourth-place finish at the Martinsville Speedway.

In his four previous truck starts at the track, Smith has one win, three top-five, and four top-10 finishes. Smith’s Xfinity Series results are as equally impressive, racking in two top-five finishes at the track with a third-place finish with Joe Gibbs Racing in 2024 and a fifth-place finish with Kaulig Racing in 2023.

“Bristol is one of those places I’m super confident in my abilities to bring a trophy back home,” said Smith. “Our guys have been working hard and bring fast trucks to the track each week, and I think we’re close to these Top Tens turning into wins. Bristol would be a heck of a place for that to start.”

Zane Smith and the No. 38 Aaron’s Lucky Dog Ford Team
Bristol Motor Speedway Competition Notes
Food City 500

Date: Sunday, April 13, 2025
Event: Race 10 of 38
Series: NASCAR Cup Series
Location: Bristol Motor Speedway (0.533-mile)
#of Laps: 500
Time/TV/Radio: 3:00 PM ET on FS1/PRN/SiriusXM channel 90

Zane Smith Notes

The Bristol Motor Speedway is up next on the NASCAR Cup Series schedule. Carrying momentum from their 12th place finish last Sunday at the Darlington Raceway, Zane Smith and the No. 38 team look to build on the result with another strong finish at the “Last Great Colosseum”.

Smith and Aaron’s Rent-to-Own will bring some NASCAR nostalgia with them when they unload at the 0.533-mile short track, bringing back the fan-favorite Aaron’s mascot, Lucky Dog, for the 500-lap race. Lucky will make his return in a classic throwback wrap on Smith’s No. 38, paying homage to his legendary past while celebrating the present.

The Lucky Dog scheme has a deep-rooted, nostalgic history in the NASCAR Cup Series, having been driven by David Reutimann, Brian Vickers, Michael McDowell, Michael Waltrip, and many more.

In two previous NASCAR Cup Series starts at the Tennessee track, Smith has one top-20 finish, finishing 16th in the famed “Night Race” in September 2024. In the Bristol Dirt race in the NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series, Smith has two top-10 finishes. On concrete, Smith has five starts in the Truck Series, earning two top-five and three top-10 finishes.

“Bristol is a challenging track, but it is a lot of fun,” said Smith. “You’re constantly looking for grip all while trying to navigate traffic. Ryan (Bergenty) and the team have been bringing some fast Ford’s to the track and with the momentum we have from last weekend, I think we can have a solid weekend at Bristol.”

“It’s really cool that Aaron’s is bringing back Lucky Dog for this weekend,” said Smith. “It was one of my favorite schemes as a kid, and it means a lot that I get to share a scheme driven by some of the Cup Series veterans and alumni.”

Toyota GAZOO Racing Weekly Preview 04.09.25

This Week in Motorsports: April 7 – April 13, 2025

  • NCS/NXS/NCTS: Bristol Motor Speedway – April 11-13
  • NHRA: The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway – April 11-13

PLANO, Texas (April 9, 2025) – NASCAR is off to Bristol Motor Speedway with all three national series in action this weekend on the famed 0.533-mile, concrete short track. NHRA is also on-track this weekend in the first four-wide national event of the season at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

NASCAR National Series – NCS/NXS/NCTS

Camry XSEs win five of the first eight races … With Denny Hamlin’s win at Darlington Raceway last weekend, following up his win at Martinsville Speedway two weeks ago, Toyota has won five of the first eight NASCAR Cup Series races in 2025. Hamlin’s current run follows Christopher Bell’s incredible three-race win streak that spanned Atlanta Motor Speedway, Circuit of the Americas and Phoenix Raceway earlier this season. Another Camry XSE victory this weekend would be the 195th for Toyota in the Cup Series.

Toyota drivers maintaining positions near top of the standings … Now eight races into the 2025 Cup Series season, Toyota continues with six drivers inside the top-20 of the series points standings. With his two straight wins, Hamlin has bolted his way to second in the series points standings, with Bell, who captured another top-five result last weekend in Darlington, right behind in the third position. Tyler Reddick, who also came home in the top-five last weekend, moved up to fifth position in the standings, with 23XI Racing teammate, Bubba Wallace, in eighth. Chase Briscoe and John Hunter Nemechek are the others inside the top-20, sitting in the 14th and 19th positions, respectively.

Hamlin goes for another historic win … Hamlin returns to Bristol Motor Speedway in search of his third straight victory, as well as a repeat win in the Bristol spring race from a season ago. The 0.533-mile, concrete short track has been kind to the driver of the No. 11 Toyota Camry XSE for Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR), where he’s amassed four career wins, 12 top-fives and 19 top-10s – with five straight top-10s there entering this weekend. Another victory by Hamlin would move him to three away from tying Kevin Harvick for 10th on the Cup Series all-time wins list at 60.

Bell returns to favorable Bristol … Like his JGR teammate, Bell has also had recent success at Bristol Motor Speedway. The driver of the No. 20 Toyota Camry XSE for JGR enters the weekend with four consecutive top-10s as well on concrete Bristol, including a fifth-place result last fall. Bell is also a recent winner at the famed speedway in the 2023 spring Bristol dirt race.

Double duty racers take on Bristol … Toyota will have a pair of drivers taking part in both the Xfinity and Truck Series races this weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway with Corey Heim and Brandon Jones. Heim will make his Xfinity Series debut at Bristol in the No. 24 GR Supra for Sam Hunt Racing, along with his fifth career Bristol Truck Series start the night before in the No. 11 Tundra TRD Pro for TRICON Garage. In four previous attempts in his Tundra TRD Pro, Heim has one career win (2023) and four top-10 finishes. Jones, coming off a Xfinity Series win at Darlington last week, will run the Truck Series race Friday night for TRICON Garage in the No. 1 Tundra TRD Pro, his second Truck start of 2025. Jones has five top-five Xfinity Series results in the last six Bristol races as he looks for a second victory in his No. 20 GR Supra for JGR.

Friesen’s strong start continues … After a ninth-place finish at Martinsville Speedway two weeks ago, Stewart Friesen has three top-10 results in the first five races of the 2025 Truck Series season and sits fifth in the series points standings. Heading to Bristol Motor Speedway this weekend, Friesen has top-10 finishes in five of his 10 previous starts at the speedway. Friday night will also be the 190th Truck start of Friesen’s career.

NHRA – Top Fuel/Funny Car

Toyota Top Fuel Dragsters leading standings … Three races into the 2025 NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series season, Toyota’s Top Fuel racers are at the top of the standings. With a final round appearance, a race win and the Mission Foods #2Fast2Tasty Challenge win so far this season, Shawn Langdon holds the category points lead by 77 points over his teammate, Doug Kalitta – who seeks a repeat win at the Las Vegas Four-Wide Nationals. In third is Antron Brown, who captured victory at the season opener in Gainesville.

Ashley’s 100th race … This weekend’s Four-Wide Nationals in Las Vegas will be the 100th race in Justin Ashley’s NHRA career. The driver of the SCAG Power Equipment Toyota Top Fuel Dragster has had an impressive young career to-date, with 15 career wins and six No. 1 qualifiers entering this weekend.

Allgaier’s most recent victory at Bristol came in the fall of 2023, when the Illinois native started 10th and led the way for 110 laps before securing the checkered flag.

Justin Allgaier

“Bristol has always been one of my favorite tracks on the schedule. There’s just something about this place that has suited my driving style. It’s definitely a special feeling whenever we get to race here and I can’t wait to get to the track this weekend and see what we can do with our Jarrett Chevrolet. We’ve had extremely strong cars here in the past and I know that will be the case again come Saturday.”

“I’m looking forward to Bristol this week. I’ve had some good runs there the last several years and this No. 8 Pilot Chevrolet team has been putting in the work to unload a competitive car. We’re focusing on running up front so we’re there at the end when it counts.”

Connor Zilisch will make his first NXS start at Bristol on Saturday afternoon. The driver of the No. 88 Axalta Chevrolet competed in both the Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series races at Bristol in 2024, winning the pole position in both races at the 0.533-mile track. The pole was his second in both the Truck and ARCA series competition.

Zilisch scored a sixth-place finish last week at Darlington, his third top-10 of the 2025 season and second on an intermediate track. He enters Bristol sixth in the NXS driver standings, 122 points behind leader and JRM teammate Justin Allgaier, and is 23 outside the top-five. Zilisch has gained 26 positions over the past six races.

Zilisch enters Bristol as the only NXS driver to win multiple poles this season, capturing the top starting position at Circuit of the Americas and Martinsville Speedway.

This weekend marks the first race with Axalta onboard the Np. 88 Chevrolet as the primary partner.

Connor Zilisch

“Bristol is such a cool racetrack, high-banked, high grip. I won the pole for the Truck race last fall and had one of the fastest Trucks all day. We had a really good race going, so I feel really confident going back to Bristol. The Xfinity cars have a little bit less grip and are going to be a little bit tougher, but I’m excited to see what that’s like and how it’s different. Sometimes you have to be aggressive to get by people and that can make or break your race as well. I’m confident that we’ll have a good Axalta Chevrolet and I feel like we’ll be really fast.”

JRM Team Updates

Noah Gragson Notes

Rural King, America’s Farm and Home Store, joins Noah Gragson and Front Row Motorsports for multiple races in a new partnership for the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season. Their first primary race kicks off this weekend in Bristol with additional races on April 27 at Talladega Superspeedway and May 18 for the NASCAR All-Star Race at North Wilkesboro Speedway. This marks the Mattoon, Illinois-based retailer’s first-ever foray into NASCAR team sponsorship, bringing its well-known commitment to rural values, hardworking communities, and American heritage to race fans across the country.

“Our partnership with Front Row Motorsports and NASCAR is an exciting new chapter for Rural King,” said Steve Barbarick, President & Chief Executive Officer, Rural King. “Many of our customers—and our associates—are loyal NASCAR fans, and this is a great way to connect through something they feel passionate about. With a Rural King store just down the road in Bristol, this race feels especially meaningful to us. We’re proud to see our brand on the car and can’t wait to cheer on Noah Gragson as he hits the track representing our community.”

The spring race at the Bristol Motor Speedway will mark Noah Gragson’s third NASCAR Cup Series start on the concrete-clad, .533-mile oval. The 26-year-old Las Vegas native last raced in September, starting 16th and finishing 12th in the Bass Pro Shops Night Race. In total, he has four Cup Series starts at the East Tennessee short track—two on dirt and two on concrete. Gragson is very familiar with Bristol’s high banks and short straights – in addition to his four Cup Series starts, he also brings his Xfinity Series experience to the track, with six career starts at Bristol that include two wins, two additional top-10 finishes, and an impressive average finish of 7.8.

“Bristol is definitely one of the most intense tracks we go to,” said Gragson. “Even though it’s one of the slowest in terms of speed, it feels like the fastest because everything happens so quickly—your side-by-side, sometimes three-wide, and constantly in traffic. It’s wild. You think the car’s not going to grip, but somehow it sticks. It’s a real rush every lap. You’ve got to be disciplined, but not necessarily patient. From lap one, it’s go time. If you don’t make moves early, you’ll get swallowed up. You can go in with a game plan, but you don’t really know what you’ve got until you hit the track and see how the grip and traction compound are working—whether the bottom’s fast or if it moves up.”

“I’m excited to head back to Bristol, but I’m even more pumped to welcome Rural King to the team,” said Gragson. “It’s always great to bring a new partner into the sport. We’re kicking off the partnership with a store visit, and I’m really looking forward to getting to know the Rural King community. It’s going to be a fun weekend all around.”

Common Mistakes to Avoid When Buying an Electric Scooter

Electric scooters are the most common mode of transport today, offering a sustainable and efficient way to get around. Buying one can be intimidating with so many options. To avoid buyers making costly mistakes, you should be aware of common pitfalls.

This guide outlines common mistakes to avoid so you can invest wisely in an electric scooter.

Common Mistakes When You Buy an Electric Scooter

Overlook Battery Life

One important factor people often overlook when buying an e-scooter is battery life. Many buyers focus on speed or design without considering how far the scooter can travel on a single charge. Evaluating battery capacity and charging time is essential, especially when comparing brands such as KOOLUX electric scooter and other manufacturers, where range and reliability play a key role in everyday usability.

Buyers often prioritize speed or design but do not consider how far the scooter can travel on a single charge. Evaluating battery capacity and charging time is essential. Greater reliability and longer battery life mean fewer interruptions. They should also consider usage; for instance, if users commute long distances or ride for leisure, they could choose scooters with sufficient battery life.

Ignore Weight Capacity

The weight capacity of your e-scooter is also an important factor to consider. A scooter that can’t handle the minimum weight requirements will perform poorly or be dangerous to ride. Most manufacturers will outline a maximum weight limit. Following these guidelines guarantees peak performance and durability. When assessing a scooter’s carrying capacity, it is also advisable to account for additional weight from bags or other items.

Ignore Your Terrain Compatibility

Electric scooters for different roads: certain models perform well on paved surfaces, while others handle rough surfaces. Buyers often fail to associate the scooter’s possibility with its utility. Regardless of the type of scooter, one should research whether their scooter can be guided along the routes they choose to ride. Scooters with stronger tires and better suspension perform better on rough trails, resulting in a more comfortable ride.

Focus Solely on Price

Price usually takes precedence when making a purchase decision. That makes price an understandable focus for any buyer, but a singular focus on cost can lead to poor decisions. While a cheap scooter may save money at the time of purchase, it can cost more in the long run due to maintenance or even needing to be replaced early. By comparing features and quality, as well as customer experiences, the totality of value is greater than price. Quality trumps cost, and as a result, it is more fulfilling and sustainable in the long haul. In the long run, quality is more fulfilling and sustainable than cost.

Take Safety Features the Wrong Way

Safety functions must never be sacrificed. Ignoring these can lead to accidents or injuries. Brakes, lights, and reflectors are important parts needed to maintain safety out on the road. It is crucial to have functional brakes, lights for nighttime rides, and reflective materials to enhance visibility. Buyers should constantly look for Teverun scooters for sale that have full safety features so that motorists and motorcyclists are protected from dangers on the road.

Overemphasizing Speed

Many buyers are enamored with speed, but that should not be the only focus. That makes for some exciting rides, yet those speedy scooters can be difficult to manage for beginners. How to do it well involves an element of speed, of course, but also an element of purity of motion, of safety. Riders looking to adapt to different conditions and skill levels can opt for models with variable speed settings. Typically the safest and most enjoyable experience is at a more moderate speed range.

Misjudging their Maintenance Needs

However, new buyers and car owners often overlook the importance of maintenance. All vehicles require maintenance, and electric scooters are no exception. Knowing how to maintain your car—to check the battery, tire, and brakes—will keep you out of trouble from completely breaking down unexpectedly. Following the guidelines provided by the manufacturer and maintaining a solid schedule will increase the life of the scooter and provide a higher level of safety.

Under-Researched and Not Followed Up By Reviews

Not every impulse purchase turns out well, and you may experience buyer’s regret. A lot of people forget about proper research and client reviews. This means taking your time with exploring options, comparing features, and reading user feedback. Reviews tend to point out common problems or benefits that are not evident at a glance. By doing research, buyers are less likely to regret later and make the right choice.

Conclusion

Choosing the best-looking electric scooter is not all you have to do when purchasing one. Steering clear of these basic errors makes for a beneficial investment. Taking these factors into consideration — battery life, weight capacity, terrain compatibility, and safety features — will help buyers make an informed choice. Quality over price, knowing its maintenance protocols, and doing proper research are some of the vital steps that can help you in picking the most suitable electric scooter for you. After all, these factors enable a seamless ride, which is safe and pleasurable.

TOP FUEL’S CLAY MILLICAN EYES FIRST FOUR-WIDE WIN THIS WEEKEND IN LAS VEGAS

LAS VEGAS (April 8, 2025) – Coming off one of the biggest wins in his NHRA career – and certainly the earliest of any season in his NHRA Top Fuel career – Clay Millican now has the opportunity for another special victory at this weekend’s 25th annual NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

It’s a special milestone weekend and celebration for the annual spring race in Las Vegas and Millican is a huge fan of going four-wide racing in his 11,000-horsepower Parts Plus dragster for Rick Ware Racing.

The only thing he hasn’t done in the wild and unique four-wide setup is win the race, something the fan-favorite hopes to change this weekend in Las Vegas. Millican and his team are riding high after a victory at the Winternationals in Pomona and that momentum could bode well in Las Vegas at one of the biggest spectacles in motorsports, one that features nearly 50,000-horsepower when four nitro machines blast down the track at the same time.

“We’re definitely in a good place,” Millican said. “It’s just cool to say you’re the Winternationals champion. It stacks right up there for us. That’s a major for us in this sport and we’re rolling right into Vegas for the 4-Wide Nationals. I enjoy the chaos of four-wide racing. I think everybody has gotten better about all that comes with four-wide racing, but I really enjoy it and the chaos of it.

“I’ve absolutely done everything there is in a four-wide except win. I feel like there’s no reason we can’t win the thing this weekend. Anytime I get to drive the car, I’m happy, but it’s pretty obvious looking at the grandstands people come to watch four-wide racing. It’s one of those things where we’re exposing our sport to people who maybe wouldn’t come otherwise, so it’s a good thing.”

Last season, Doug Kalitta (Top Fuel), Bob Tasca III (Funny Car) and Jeg Coughlin Jr. (Pro Stock) claimed four-wide victories at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. This season’s event will again be broadcasted on FS1, including eliminations coverage starting at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday, April 13. It is the fourth of 20 races during the 2025 campaign and the first of two straight four-wide races.

That makes April four-wide season in the NHRA and Millican is eager to take advantage of the opportunity. The Winternationals win pushed him to sixth in points and he’ll also be taking part in the Mission #2Fast2Tasty Challenge on Saturday. He’s in a quad that features Brittany Force, Jasmine Salinas and Scott Palmer, while the other quad in the bonus race features Pomona runner-up Tony Stewart, Shawn Langdon, Doug Kalitta and Josh Hart.

The top two in each quad advance to the final on Saturday, bringing competitive racing, a bonus purse and bonus points to the qualifying schedule. Langdon is undefeated in Saturday racing in 2025, while Millican knows it’s a loaded field from top to bottom in the Top Fuel category.

But after a Pomona win, Millican believes the sky is the limit for his team.

“This year we’ve got the regular season championship and that’s the first thing on the agenda,” Millican said. “I let us down a little bit in Phoenix and that put us in a little bit of a hole. The win (in Pomona) dug us out a little bit and early wins, I can’t say I’ve ever had any in the NHRA. It’s certainly a momentum changer.

“To win the way we did, it was a total team effort. The team has stuck together. It’s such a cool deal when you all come together as a group and win a Wally. This team is a winner.”

Bob Tasca III wowed fans at Las Vegas last year when he won the NHRA 4-Wide Nationals with the first triple holeshot in Funny Car history over Austin Prock, Ron Capps and Matt Hagan. Prock claimed the Funny Car championship thanks to his eight event wins, while early-season standouts in 2025 include points leader Jack Beckman, Phoenix winner Paul Lee and Gainesville champ Chad Green.

Five-time Pro Stock champ Jeg Coughlin Jr. returned to full-time racing in 2024, picking up his first Vegas 4-Wide Nationals victory and his first Vegas win in 15 years. But KB Titan Racing has dominated early in 2025, with Greg Anderson winning the past two races and Dallas Glenn winning the opener in Gainesville.

The NHRA 4-Wide Nationals also will feature thrilling competition in the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series, featuring some of the top racers in the country. Fans will also be invited all weekend long to the Nitro Alley Stage, which will help create a festive atmosphere leading with Nitro School, meet and greets and much more.

Race fans at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway can enjoy the special pre-race ceremonies that introduce and celebrate each of the drivers racing for the prestigious Wally on Sunday and includes the fan favorite SealMaster Track Walk. The final can’t-miss experience of any NHRA event is the winner’s circle celebration on Sunday after racing concludes, where fans are invited to congratulate the event winners.

As always, fans also get an exclusive pit pass to the most powerful and sensory-filled motorsports attraction on the planet in Las Vegas. This opportunity gives fans a unique chance to see teams in action and service their hot rods between rounds, get autographs from their favorite NHRA drivers, and more.

In Las Vegas, NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series qualifying will feature two rounds at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. PT on Friday, April 11, and the final two rounds of qualifying on Saturday, April 12 at 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Eliminations will begin at 12 p.m. PT on Sunday, April 13. Television coverage includes qualifying action at 9:30 p.m. ET on Friday and 11 a.m. ET on Sunday, leading into eliminations coverage at 6:30 p.m. ET on FS1.
