Firestone to continue as title sponsor of the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg through 2028

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Feb. 27, 2025) – Bridgestone Americas (Bridgestone) today announced a three-year extension for its Firestone brand as the entitlement sponsor of the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. This agreement with Green Savoree Racing Promotions marks the continuation of a successful relationship that began in 2014. The new deal keeps the Firestone name on the opening race of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES season through 2028.

“St. Pete is always an exciting event as we reconnect with fans and wave the green flag for a new season of racing,” said Lisa Boggs, Director, Bridgestone Americas Motorsports. “We take great pride in Firestone’s rich history in the sport, and starting each season at the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg has become a big part of that. We’re excited to extend this tradition as part of our ongoing commitment to driving excitement and innovation in racing for years to come.”

The renewed entitlement agreement for the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg continues to reinforce the Firestone brand’s support for the fastest racing on earth. In September 2024, Bridgestone and Penske Entertainment announced a long-term extension for Firestone as the exclusive tire supplier for all INDYCAR-sanctioned racing.

“Firestone has been an integral part of the growth and success of the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg as title sponsor. This latest extension will take our partnership to a remarkable 15-year span,” said Kim Green, co-owner, chairman and CEO of Green Savoree Racing Promotions, organizers of the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding. “It’s an iconic brand that’s helped champions redefine limits in racing for generations, which aligns perfectly with the energy and excitement that embody this event.”

The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg presented by RP Funding has become a marquee event, combining the excitement of INDYCAR racing with a stunning waterfront backdrop and a unique urban street circuit. This year’s event is scheduled for Feb. 28-March 2 to open the 2025 NTT INDYCAR SERIES season.

The Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg marks the start of the 26th consecutive season for Firestone as the exclusive tire supplier. This year is also the 125th anniversary of Firestone’s founding in Akron, Ohio on August 3, 1900. Known for its durability, dependability, and unwavering dedication to quality, Firestone remains a trusted name in tire performance both on the road and on the track.

The brand’s storied history in motorsports began in 1911 with a win at the inaugural Indianapolis 500®, and its roots run nearly as deep in the Tampa/St. Petersburg area. Firestone Complete Auto Care opened its first local retail location in 1933 on Kennedy Boulevard in downtown Tampa. For more than 90 years, it has continued to grow and strengthen its legacy as a trusted tire and automotive service provider for the local community.

Both the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and the INDY NXT by Firestone development series races on the streets of St. Petersburg will be televised on Sunday, March 2. The INDY NXT by Firestone race will air on FS1 at 10 a.m. ET, and the NTT INDYCAR SERIES will make its debut on FOX network television beginning at 12 noon ET.

Bridgestone motorsports activities are leveraged globally as co-creation platforms to help deliver the values of the Bridgestone E8 Commitment. This corporate commitment outlines eight areas where the company is focused on contributing to a more sustainable world. The ongoing relationship with the NTT INDYCAR SERIES supports the values of emotion, energy, ecology, and empowerment.

CORVETTE RACING AT QATAR: TF Sport Nabs Hyperpole Spot

No. 81 Corvette to start on LM GT3 fifth row to kick off FIA WEC season

LUSAIL, Qatar (Feb. 27, 2025) – TF Sport’s No. 81 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 GT3.R will start the Qatar 1812 Km and FIA World Endurance Championship season from the fifth row of the LM GT3 grid following Friday’s two-stage qualifying.

Rui Andrade qualified the No. 81 Corvette ninth in class after teammate Tom Van Rompuy advanced the Z06 GT3.R from the full-field first qualifying session. Van Rompuy, the 2024 Qatar pole-winner in LM GT3, was the ninth-quickest driver in the 12-minute opening qualifying run at 1:56.248 (104.266 mph). Teammate Andrade went faster to 1:55.424 (105.012 mph) in the 10-car Hyperpole session.

The duo will team with Charlie Eastwood in the No 81 Corvette for the second consecutive WEC season. Van Rompuy starts two rows ahead of Ben Keating in the No. 33 Corvette Z06 GT3.R, which just missed moving into the Hyperpole contest. He will drive with Jonny Edgar and Daniel Juncadella.

The 3.37-mile, 16-turn Losail International Circuit was the site of the Corvette Z06 GT3.R’s WEC debut a year ago. Armed with the lessons learned from the venue at year ago plus a win and runner-up finish to start 2025 in the Rolex 24 At Daytona, TF Sport is hoping to continue the momentum from last year’s double-podium finish at the season finale in Bahrain and spring ahead to championship contention in a stacked 18-car LM GT3 field.

TF Sport and the rest of the FIA WEC field will open the season with the Qatar 1812 Km at 2 p.m. Arabian Standard Time / 6 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday, February 28.

TF SPORT POST-QUALIFYING QUOTES

RUI ANDRADE, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “I feel like our weakness so far has been the low-fuel, new-tire runs. We’ve struggled with it since the Prologue. Besides that, our car is super-strong on the long run with full fuel. We showed it earlier today. Charlie had mega pace in FP3, which is the part of the race where it counts. It’s a long race with a lot of time to move up. Obviously I’m frustrated and wish I could have done a bit better. But we have something to work toward for the next race to see if we can improve a little bit the single-lap balance. Other than that, I’m happy with the balance for this race. There is a long time to go and anything can happen.”

CHARLIE EASTWOOD, NO. 81 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “We’ve been up at the pointy end of things since we got here. The difference from this time last year is astronomical. We are in a pretty good spot. I’d say we’re slightly better when it’s hotter. The weather change hasn’t hindered us but I think it’s brought some of the cars that are using the tires too much closer. The pack actually seems close together, which is nice for the racing. From our side, it’s been seamless the last three or four days. Coming back with Rui and Tom, it’s good that we all know the car and we’ve all driven the car here. You kind of get into the business end of the performance way earlier than you would expect. With that we’ve been making some good steps forward. As always, I think long runs and tire deg are in our wheelhouse so we should be in good shape.”

DANI JUNCADELLA, NO. 33 CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 GT3.R: “It has been straight-forward for us. Last year we were trying to understand the car and what we could do with it in certain scenarios. Now we are fully focused on performance, and that makes a massive difference. Every season we have learned things about setup and trying to go forward. That is what makes such a difference from last year. We have a fully reliable GT3 car that we can push forward as a team.

“Hopes are high. The weather has changed quite a bit since the Prologue. The wind has picked up and the aero sensitives are something that is tricky in the Corvette. It’s such a well-made GT3 car with a big aero platform, and that has set us back a little bit during free practice. We were a bit caught by surprise with how much the wind was affecting our performance in some of the corners. We’re trying to assess those little issues and try to set up the car in a different way. Where we were in the Prologue, we were very confident and now we need to find a way around some of those wind gusts that pick up in some high-speed corners. But we have a strong lineup, a strong GT3 Corvette and a strong team. I’m confident we can score big tomorrow.”

Black’s Tire Celebrates Grassroots Racing with Kaulig Racing

Christian Eckes to Drive No. 16 Black’s Tire Chevrolet at Darlington and Rockingham

LEXINGTON, N.C. (February 27, 2025) – For the third consecutive year, Kaulig Racing has teamed up with Black’s Tire Service (BTS) to celebrate grassroots racing in NASCAR. BTS, a longtime partner in NASCAR, will be the primary sponsor onboard Kaulig Racing’s No. 16 Chevrolet with driver Christian Eckes for the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) races at Darlington Raceway (Saturday, April 5) and Rockingham Speedway (Saturday, April 19).

Black’s Tire, which celebrated its 95th anniversary in 2024, has more than 70 locations in both North and South Carolina and remains a local, family owned-and-operated tire seller and wholesaler. With many of those locations located in the footprint of both Darlington and Rockingham, BTS is partnering with Rockingham Speedway to celebrate the return of NASCAR to this historic track for the first time in over a decade. Black’s Tire will be the title partner for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race and presenting partner for the NXS race at Rockingham.

“On behalf of the over 1,000 team members at Black’s Tire & Auto Service and BTS Tire & Wheel Distributors, we are honored to continue our relationship with Kaulig Racing for these special events,” said Rick Benton II, President of BTS. “Our relationship with team president, Chris Rice, goes back over many years, and we are excited to continue working with the Kaulig Racing family at these grassroots tracks in our backyard.”

While many of the teams within NASCAR’s national ranks stem from grassroots backgrounds, Kaulig Racing has a unique makeup within its race shop, as many of its employees — from at-shop mechanics to team president, Chris Rice — come from the short track ranks. Those humble backgrounds ring true for BTS, which coined the phrase, “Let’s Go Together,” as it ensures that everyone feels like family when they walk through the doors of any of its locations spread across the Carolinas.

“Not only are we excited to team up with the Black’s Tire family for the third year in a row, doing so at two iconic race tracks makes it that much more exciting,” said Rice. “We’re proud to continue this relationship with an organization that puts as much emphasis on family as we do at Kaulig Racing.”

In honor of NASCAR going back to Rockingham, BTS will hold a special BTS Family and Customer Hospitality event at Rockingham prior to the North Carolina Education Lottery 250 presented by Black’s Tire on Saturday, April 19th. Coverage for both the NXS race at Darlington Raceway and Rockingham Speedway will be on the CW, MRN, and SiriusXM NASCAR: Channel 90.

ShineHeroes Services: A Closer Look

ShineHeroes offers a comprehensive range of services designed to keep your car in showroom condition. Let’s explore their flagship offerings: CERAMIC COATING AND PAINT PROTECTION FILM LOS ANGELES, and how they utilize top brands to deliver exceptional results.

Ceramic Coating at ShineHeroes

Ceramic coating is one of the most popular ways to protect and enhance a vehicle’s exterior, and ShineHeroes excels in this arena with products from Ceramic Pro and XPEL. But what exactly is ceramic coating, and why should you consider it for your car in Los Angeles?

What is Ceramic Coating?

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer applied to a vehicle’s exterior surfaces. Once cured, it forms a durable, hydrophobic layer that bonds with the paint, providing long-lasting protection against environmental hazards. Unlike traditional wax or sealants, ceramic coatings offer superior durability, chemical resistance, and a glossy finish that lasts for years.

Ceramic Pro at ShineHeroes

ShineHeroes proudly offers Ceramic Pro, a globally recognized leader in nano-ceramic technology. Ceramic Pro’s coatings are known for their exceptional hardness (rated up to 9H on the pencil hardness scale) and ability to shield your car from UV damage, oxidation, bird droppings, and acidic contaminants. In a city like Los Angeles, where the sun shines relentlessly and traffic exposes cars to pollutants, Ceramic Pro is a game-changer.

The team at ShineHeroes applies Ceramic Pro with precision, ensuring even coverage across your vehicle’s hood, doors, roof, and more. The result? A mirror-like finish that not only looks stunning but also repels water and dirt, making your car easier to clean. Whether you opt for Ceramic Pro’s Gold, Silver, or Bronze packages, ShineHeroes customizes the application to suit your budget and protection needs.

XPEL Fusion Plus Ceramic Coating

In addition to Ceramic Pro, ShineHeroes offers XPEL Fusion Plus, another premium ceramic coating option. XPEL is renowned for its advanced formulations, and Fusion Plus takes it a step further by providing a hydrophobic topcoat that enhances water beading and simplifies maintenance. This coating is particularly effective when paired with XPEL’s paint protection film (more on that later), creating a dual-layer defense for your vehicle.

With XPEL Fusion Plus, ShineHeroes ensures your car’s paint stays vibrant and protected from LA’s harsh elements, including salty coastal air and freeway grime. The glossy finish also amplifies your vehicle’s color depth, giving it that just-detailed look every day.

Benefits of Ceramic Coating at ShineHeroes

  • UV Protection: Prevents paint fading from the intense LA sun.
  • Hydrophobic Properties: Repels water, reducing water spots and making washing a breeze.
  • Chemical Resistance: Guards against acidic contaminants like bug splatter and tree sap.
  • Longevity: Offers years of protection compared to months with traditional wax.
  • Enhanced Gloss: Elevates your car’s aesthetic appeal.

For Los Angeles drivers, ceramic coating from ShineHeroes is an investment in both protection and style.

Paint Protection Film (PPF) at ShineHeroes

If ceramic coating is the shield, paint protection film is the armor. ShineHeroes specializes in PPF installations using top-tier products from XPEL and 3M, ensuring your car’s paint stays flawless despite the rigors of daily driving.

What is Paint Protection Film?

Paint protection film, often called “clear bra,” is a transparent, urethane-based film applied to a vehicle’s exterior. It acts as a physical barrier, protecting the paint from rock chips, scratches, road debris, and minor abrasions. PPF is especially popular among LA drivers who navigate busy freeways like the 405 or venture off-road in areas like Malibu.

XPEL Paint Protection Film

ShineHeroes is an authorized XPEL installer, offering a range of PPF options like XPEL Ultimate Plus and XPEL Stealth. XPEL is a leader in the PPF industry, known for its self-healing technology and exceptional clarity. The Ultimate Plus film, for instance, features a topcoat that heals minor scratches and swirl marks when exposed to heat—perfect for keeping your car looking pristine without constant touch-ups.

For matte-finish enthusiasts, XPEL Stealth provides the same robust protection with a satin finish that preserves the unique look of flat paint. ShineHeroes’ technicians are trained to apply XPEL PPF with precision, covering high-impact areas like the hood, bumper, and side mirrors—or even the entire vehicle for maximum coverage.

3M Paint Protection Film

ShineHeroes also offers 3M PPF, a brand with decades of innovation behind it. 3M’s Scotchgard Pro Series film is a favorite for its durability and scratch resistance. While it may not feature the same advanced self-healing properties as XPEL, 3M PPF is a reliable, cost-effective option for drivers seeking solid protection. ShineHeroes tailors 3M installations to your specific needs, ensuring a seamless fit that blends with your car’s design.

Benefits of PPF at ShineHeroes

  • Impact Resistance: Shields against rocks, gravel, and debris common on LA roads.
  • Self-Healing (XPEL): Minor scratches disappear with heat exposure.
  • Invisible Protection: Maintains your car’s original appearance.
  • Durability: Lasts up to 10 years with proper care.
  • Resale Value: Keeps paint in pristine condition, boosting your car’s worth.

Whether you choose XPEL or 3M, ShineHeroes delivers expert PPF installations that stand up to LA’s toughest driving conditions.

Why Ceramic Coating and PPF Together?

At ShineHeroes, many customers opt for a combination of ceramic coating and paint protection film—and for good reason. While PPF provides unmatched physical protection, ceramic coating adds a layer of chemical resistance and hydrophobic properties. Together, they create a comprehensive defense system for your vehicle.

For example, applying XPEL PPF to high-impact areas like the front bumper and hood, then topping it with XPEL Fusion Plus or Ceramic Pro across the entire car, ensures maximum protection and ease of maintenance. ShineHeroes’ technicians can recommend the best combo based on your driving habits, budget, and aesthetic preferences.

Whether you’re protecting a Tesla Model S, a classic Mustang, or a daily commuter, their Ceramic Pro, XPEL, and 3M offerings provide the durability and style you need.

Cody Ware Ready to ‘Unpack’ at COTA

Road-Course Racing a Welcome Reprieve After Pack-Style Racing at Daytona and Atlanta

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Feb. 26, 2025) – The 200 mph freight trains of the last two pack-style races that seemed destined for derailment before the green flag even dropped are getting smaller and smaller in the rearview mirrors of NASCAR Cup Series drivers.

This is especially welcome for Cody Ware, driver of the No. 51 Arby’s Ford Mustang Dark Horse for Rick Ware Racing.

Ware saw a top-five result in the season-opening Daytona 500 vanish a mile from the finish line when he was collected in a last-lap accident in the race’s final corner. Then, last Sunday at Atlanta Motor Speedway, the spinning car of Daniel Suárez tagged Ware’s red-and-white Arby’s machine, sending him hard into the frontstretch wall and out of the race.

With the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix next up on the NASCAR Cup Series docket, Ware is ready to “unpack” from pack racing and embrace the twists and turns of road-course racing at Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, Texas.

“I’m definitely ready to reset at COTA, and I know I’m not the only one,” Ware said.

He’s right. Ware is among a bevy of drivers who have been impacted by the pitfalls of pack racing. NASCAR Cup Series regulars Noah Gragson, Cole Custer, Brad Keselowski, Josh Berry, Ryan Preece, Ty Gibbs and A.J. Allmendinger all join Ware outside of the top-25 in points heading into COTA.

The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix serves as the first of six road-course races in 2025. For Ware, who has an eclectic road-racing background that spans sportscars and Indy cars, the opportunity to turn left and right and rip through the gears around sweeping turns, hairpins and elevation changes provides a needed change of pace.

“Road racing is where I did a lot of my growing up and learning how to race,” Ware said. “There was a lot of back and forth between stock cars and GT cars and sportscars over the years as I found my place in NASCAR. So I’m always, ‘The more the merrier,’ when it comes to road racing.”

Ware won the 2019-2020 LMP2 championship in the Asian Le Mans Series with co-driver Gustas Grinbergas. In a prelude to that title, Ware was the 2014 Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America Rookie of the Year. Last January at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway, Ware piloted a Ligier JS P320 to a podium finish in the IMSA VP Racing SportsCar Challenge LMP3 class. Ware has also competed in Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup and the NTT IndyCar Series.

“There are a lot of things you can’t really learn about a road course until you’re in a car that’s really been built to attack a road course, and the current Cup car drives a lot more like a sportscar than they ever have before,” Ware said. “They’re somewhere in between a TA and a TA2 car in the Trans Am Series. Obviously, we have a lot more horsepower than a TA2 car, but not quite the downforce and maneuverability that a TA car has.”

The biggest difference, says Ware, between a typical sportscar and the current-generation NASCAR Cup Series stock car, is durability.

“The thing that causes a bit more chaos in our road races compared to the more traditional road-racing series is the fact that these cars are so durable, and they’re handling a lot better than the previous cars did. It’s led to a lot of beating and banging, and it’s really become a left-and-right-turn short-track race more than a road-course race.”

With road-course racing emulating short-track racing more and more, expect action at COTA, especially since the track is shorter than it’s ever been for the NASCAR Cup Series.

After four years of competing on COTA’s full, 3.426-mile, 20-turn layout, the NASCAR Cup Series is racing on its shorter, 2.4-mile configuration. There are still 20 turns, with the addition of another tight hairpin corner at turn six that eschews turns 7-11 of the full layout, eliminating the massive .62-mile straightaway connecting turn 11 to turn 12.

“I was actually on the sim the other day getting my feet wet with the new configuration,” Ware said. “Everyone’s baseline level of road-course proficiency is significantly higher than it was a decade ago. And when you look at COTA, you really have just one significant portion of the track cut off. We’re still racing on the same parts of the track we’ve always raced on, so there’s still a good bit of data from last year that’ll be useful. You’re not going to really change the setup of the car much just from having a short chute versus a long straightaway there on the back, because we still have some long straightaways and heavy braking zones despite what’s been eliminated.”

This means the rough-and-tumble ways of past COTA races will remain prevalent in this year’s race at COTA, and the most drama-fueled corner will continue to be turn one. That is where the 37-car field attempts to funnel itself through an ultra-tight left-hander after scaling a 133-foot hill with a 17 percent gradient.

“The aggression level of the guys you have in front of you and behind you, it’s almost similar to a speedway race,” said Ware about tackling turn one at the start and on subsequent restarts. “It’s about knowing who you can work with to try to get some track position on those restarts versus not wanting to be around someone that might approach turn one like a wrecking ball.”

Everyone’s approach will be on full display come Sunday. The EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix goes green at 2:30 p.m. CST/3:30 p.m. EST with live coverage on FOX and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

About Rick Ware Racing:

Rick Ware has been a motorsports mainstay for more than 40 years. It began at age 6 when the third-generation racer began his driving career and has since spanned four wheels and two wheels on both asphalt and dirt. Competing in the SCCA Trans Am Series and other road-racing divisions led Ware to NASCAR in the early 1980s, where he finished third in his NASCAR debut – the 1983 Warner W. Hodgdon 300 NASCAR Grand American race at Riverside (Calif.) International Raceway. More than a decade later, injuries would force Ware out of the driver’s seat and into full-time team ownership. In 1995, Rick Ware Racing was formed, and with his wife Lisa by his side, Ware has since built his eponymous organization into an entity that competes full-time in the elite NASCAR Cup Series while simultaneously campaigning successful teams in the Top Fuel class of the NHRA Mission Foods Drag Racing Series, Progressive American Flat Track and FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX).
