Speedway offers exciting new fan interaction to benefit MIS Cares
BROOKLYN, Mich. (April 15, 2011) — Show that special someone you care with a personalized birthday message on the Michigan International Speedway scoreboard this summer! MIS is excited to announce its new scoreboard message capabilities, allowing fans a chance to see their birthday message on the scoreboard during race days.
For a $25 donation to MIS Cares, fans can have a special message posted on the scoreboard for the entire crowd to see. This new race weekend feature is intended to be a fun and exciting way for fans to celebrate their special birthday event at MIS this June or August. “This is a great opportunity for fans to post a special birthday message on our scoreboard during race weekend and help out our non-profit arm, MIS Cares, in the process,” Director of Government and Community Affairs Alisha Cottrell said. “It is just another avenue for fans to be involved with MIS and their donation will be put to a good cause in the process.”
Messages will be shown prior to pre-race ceremonies throughout the weekend. All personalized messages will be a maximum of 50 characters and are limited to the first 25 sold for each weekend. The deadline to make a purchase for the June race weekend is May 15, 2011 after which individuals will be contacted by an MIS representative to finalize the details of the message. The deadline for the August race weekend will be July 15, 2011. Messages will be displayed on the speedway’s scoreboard, which is currently receiving a makeover for the 2011 season. The scoreboard, the first of its kind in motorsports when it was installed in 2008, is being increased in overall height from 108-feet tall to nearly 155-feet tall, a difference of 47 feet.
The LED display that shows the running order of the race, various sponsor advertisements and track messaging, including birthday messages, will also increase from 57 feet tall to 85 feet tall.
