MAY 20, 2011
CLINT BOWYER, NO. 33 BB&T CHEVROLET met with media and discussed the upcoming Kansas race and also the All-Star. Full Transcript:
HOW EXCITED ARE YOU ABOUT RACING IN KANSAS IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS?
“I just went back there and did a media day, just kind of pumping up the upcoming race. The soccer field is just about done. I’m waiting for the casino. I know that’s going to be a big hit when they get that done. But I’m just looking forward to going back there. I’m really excited about the way our cars are running on these 1.5-mile tracks. The car was good here in practice and we’ve got a brand new bullet in store for Kansas, so I’m looking forward to it.”
WHAT’S THE MOST DIFFICULT THING ABOUT RACING IN THE COCA-COLA 600?
“Just making sure your car is good. If your car is good and you’re handling good and you’ve got a good balance on it, it doesn’t seem any longer than any other race. They all seem long. But man, I’m telling you, if you’re having a long day and things aren’t going good, oh you think it’s never going to end. I’ve been on both sides of that fence and I’m pretty excited about which side of the fence I think I’m going to be on. We’ve got a good car. It’s the same car we ran second with in Texas. Things are good. This is not our typical spring race in Charlotte. Usually we’re here and then we’re struggling for speed and miserable already talking to you guys (media) and the All-Star practice. And after one practice our car is good and it’s got good speed and I’m looking forward to tonight and also the 600.”
IS THERE ANY WAY YOU CAN HAVE A STRATEGY FOR THE COCA-COLA 600 OR IS IT JUST ABOUT SURVIVING UNTIL THAT LAST 100 MILES?
“I think the biggest strategy is just trying to keep it up front in clean air all day long and managing that track position and the balance on your race car. That’s the biggest thing; just making sure that you keep a good balance and keep that car underneath of you and up front in clean air all day long and out of trouble. If you do that, you’re going to be all right.”
