Miguel Paludo Kansas Speedway Advance

Miguel Paludo No. 7 Stemco/Duroline Toyota Tundra NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 8 of 25  Kansas Speedway

COMING INTO HIS OWN: Although Miguel Paludo has never stepped foot onto the majority of the tracks that he will encounter this season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, he is still one of the top drivers.  According to NASCAR’s loop data statistics Paludo is only one of 22 drivers who have led at least one lap during the 2011 season.  Paludo led the field earlier this season at Martinsville Speedway for four laps.  The laps led category is not the only one in which Paludo scores in.  He is also ranked in the top 25 of driver’s who have completed multiple laps in the top 15.  Of the 1,134 total laps completed this season in the Truck Series, Paludo has been scored running 15th or better 284 of those laps.

WE’RE BACK!: Last year Paludo competed in the Auto Racing Club of America (ARCA) race at Kansas Speedway.  The Nova Prata, Brazil native started the event from the 18th position.  Paludo completed 97 of the 100 laps in the event and finished 18th.  The laps on the speedway will hopefully prepare him for this weekend’s event as he pilots the No. 7 Stemco/Duroline Toyota Tundra around the 1.5-mile oval in Kansas.

MIND, BODY AND SPIRIT: Racing is a tough sport, not only physically, but mentally as well.  In order to prepare for all facets of the sport, Paludo has a strict regimen he sticks to.  Each week Paludo travels to Red Horse Racing’s sister company Performance Instruction and Training (PIT) to work out at least two to three days each week coupling each work out with a run.  Paludo also works out his mind by seeing a therapist two days each week via Skype.  Paludo’s doctor is still in Brazil.  He talks with him about the race weekend and anything else that is on his mind.  Paludo’s wife Patricia encourages these weekly sessions as she is a licensed psychologist herself.

CHASSIS HISTORY: The No. 7 team will unload chassis No. 123 this weekend at Kansas Speedway. This is the same truck that Paludo drove earlier this season at Nashville Superspeedway.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Two weeks ago at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Paludo and the No. 7 team had a solid top-10 run going until a mechanical failure on lap 25 ended the night for the team.

Miguel Paludo Talks about Kansas Speedway You had such a good run going in Charlotte, does it give you confidence going into this weekend in Kansas? “Yes, the run in Charlotte has given our team a lot of confidence as we head to Kansas this week.  We took the same truck we ran in Homestead last year to run in the top 10.  Even though it did not turn out as we would have hoped it has made Charlotte my favorite track so far.

Do you think running the ARCA race last season will help you this weekend? “I think we are going to have a positive experience this weekend not only because of how we ran last week in Charlotte, but because I did run the ARCA car last year and I have track time.  I really think we are going to have a top-10 truck. ”

As we approach the busy summer season in the Truck Series which track are you most looking forward to getting to? “I’m really looking forward to Bristol.  I had a lot of success there last year.  I am also looking forward to going to Talladega.  It appears to be very similar to Daytona, where I had my best result so far this season.  I’m comfortable at those types of tracks.  I also like Texas and Homestead.  I think we will have good results at all of these tracks.”
