PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY, JOSTENS OFFER FANS EXCLUSIVE MEMORABILIA CONTAINING PIECES OF TRACK’S RACING SURFACE

Race fans can own a piece of history as 47-year old NASCAR venue undergoes facelift

(PHOENIX, Ariz.) – Beginning today, July 25th, Phoenix International Raceway, in conjunction with Jostens, is offering a line of limited edition memorabilia containing actual track pieces from PIR’s iconic, 1-mile oval. Race fans and collectors will now have the rare opportunity to own a piece of racing history following the 2011 repaving of Phoenix International Raceway by visiting http://www.jostens.com/phoenix www.jostens.com/phoenix.

In February, PIR President Bryan R. Sperber announced details related to the 47-year old NASCAR facility’s first major track paving project since 1990. Construction began in March with the removal of the facility’s former racing surface and the subsequent installation of a new surface is in progress, with a series of changes designed to promote side-by-side racing. While maintaining the integrity of PIR’s oval – including the 1-mile distance – the slight configuration changes will produce a racier track with average speeds that are expected to increase two to three miles per hour. The project is slated to conclude in September.

Jostens was chosen by Phoenix International Raceway to authenticate and secure a limited number of pieces of the track surface in order to produce authentic memorabilia products never before available to fans and collectors. Jostens worked with PIR to develop a proprietary authentication process to create seven unique products – all with precision cut track incorporated into the designs. A full catalog of memorabilia will be available for purchase starting today, Monday, July 25th at http://www.jostens.com/phoenix www.jostens.com/phoenix

“As Phoenix International Raceway prepares to unveil a brand new racing surface this fall, we wanted to make sure our fans had the opportunity to own a piece of the rich history they helped create,” Sperber said. “In closing the book on this era at PIR, we knew Jostens would approach the project with the same passion as our dedicated fan base and we’re very excited to unveil a variety of authentic, collectable Phoenix track pieces.”

While there is a limited amount of available track, Jostens is producing authentic products suitable for every race fan and every budget. From genuine track piece mementos to actual track from the start/finish line, there will be an opportunity for all fans to own an authentic piece of PIR.
