Matt Kenseth – Crown Royal – Watkins Glen Advance

Matt Kenseth – NSCS ADVANCE

Team:          No. 17 Crown Royal Ford Fusion

Crew Chief:  Jimmy Fennig C

hassis:      Primary: RK-771 (Brand new chassis)

Kenseth on racing at Watkins Glen International: “Road course racing hasn’t exactly been my favorite kind of racing, but I’ve gotten more experience with it over the years and I think I’ve gotten a lot better.  It’s really fun to race at Watkins Glen and I think I prefer the style of racing at the Glen better because it’s faster-paced and really drives more like a speedway at times.  The Glen doesn’t have the big hills and elevation changes like we have at Sonoma, which makes it a little easier for me. Watkins Glen is more about momentum and going fast, and I really like those aspects of the track.”

Crew chief Jimmy Fennig on racing at Watkins Glen International: “Looking ahead to Watkins Glen, it’s a track where we focus on fuel mileage, brakes, and making sure that our car’s handling is the best it can be for Matt.  We only race at two road course events during the season, and the difference between the two of them is that Watkins Glen has a few segments where the cars tend to pick up a lot of speed, but then have to brake quickly for some of the tight turns.  Drivers focus on getting a rhythm down as they go through the course in order to find the lines that work best for them.  Road course success is about having a great-handling car and being able to avoid trouble on Sunday.”
