MAX JONES NAMED TEAM MANAGER AT EARNHARDT GANASSI RACING

CONCORD, NC (December 21, 2011) – Earnhardt Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates announced today that long-time NASCAR veteran Max Jones has been named team manager of the organization’s NASCAR operation. Jones takes over the role effective immediately in preparation for the 2012 season.

“We are all pleased to get someone like Max into the organization,” said Team Owner Chip Ganassi. “He has a track record of success as a leader and has experience at just about every level of the sport. We think his impact will be immediate.”

Most recently Jones was president and general manager at Richard Petty Motorsports for two years from 2009 through 2010 where he oversaw the transition and successful partnership between Richard Petty Enterprises and Yates Racing which would ultimately become Richard Petty Motorsports.

“I am really happy to become a part of Earnhardt Ganassi Racing,” said Jones. “They have a group of championship caliber people here that I am really looking forward to working with and helping them achieve the success that they are both capable of and deserve.”

Jones retired from a successful career as a road racer in 1991 to become general manager of Roush Racing’s road racing team. In 1996, the Long Beach, Calif. native also took on the management of the Truck teams at Roush Racing and in 2000 won the Craftsman Truck Championship. He spent 2002 to 2004 as general manager of Red Bull Cheever Racing in the IndyCar Series. Jones returned to Roush in 2004 as general manager of the organization’s Nationwide Series teams before being promoted to General Manager of their NASCAR Sprint Cup program in 2006. Under his direction, Roush put multiple drivers in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint cup in both 2006 and 2007. After the 2007 season he left Roush to become part owner and general manager of Yates racing.

Jones resides in Davidson, NC with his wife Linda.
