This weekend, NASCAR Nationwide Series Driver Tayler Malsam will make his first start at Iowa Speedway aboard the #19 G-Oil Toyota Camry from TriStar Motorsports. Fans can tune into the Pioneer Hi-Bred 250 this Sunday, May 20 at 1:30 pm ET on ESPN.

• Currently in his first full season of Nationwide competition, Malsam, 23, stands 11th in the 2012 NNS championship after being in the top 8 through the first 8 races.

• TriStar is the top non-Cup affiliated team in the 2012 NNS standings after the first nine races. Iowa Record:

Malsam previously started at Iowa Speedway in the 2009 Camping World Truck Series, driving the #81 PC*Miler Navigator Toyota to a 10th place finish in the Lucas Oil 200.

Just Drive! Last week, Tayler’s role as National Spokesman for National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS®) took him to Washington D.C. to promote a “Million Messages in May,” a campaign influencing up to 80 million people in the U.S. and 200 million people worldwide to use social networking to send traffic safety messages.

May is the most dangerous time for youth traffic safety and Malsam helped by making a public service announcement on the dangers of texting and driving. You can view the video here. Malsam and Sadollah talk about the challenges of their respective sports in this video.

Tayler Malsam Comments: On Darlington: “We got the G-Oil Toyota off to a pretty good start at Darlington and picked up a number of places, but we lost the transmission and that ended our day. I’m kind of bummed that we are out of the top ten in NNS driver points for the first time all year, so we will just have to fight that much harder to get ourselves back up there.”

On Iowa: “I’m looking forward to Iowa, I haven’t raced here in the Nationwide car before, but I did run here in the Truck Series so at least we’re not starting from scratch. The team has been working really hard but we just haven’t been getting the finishes we’ve wanted. Hopefully we can start turning that around this week.”

Rick Carpenter, TriStar General Manager, Comments: “We should give a shout out to G-Oil. When they came into the Nationwide Series, some people questioned how well G-Oil would work in our racing engines. That question got answered at Daytona. Thanks to G-Oil, the performance and engine wear have been excellent all year. You can see that with Tayler and Mike Bliss, both in the top 11, and TriStar as the top non-Cup affiliated team.” “This will be the tenth race of the season for Tayler and the G-Oil Toyota Camry and it would be great to get back into the top ten after the first ten races. Tayler did a good job at Darlington and picked up a number of places early and that gives us something to build on for Iowa.”
