TREVOR BAYNE – No. 21 Good Sam/Camping World Ford Fusion – “I’m sweating. I was so nervous going out there. I was sweating before I got in the car. I felt like we did well getting to pit road. That’s what I was the most nervous about was making sure I got there quick, but then speed and we smoked them a little bit, but we were slowed down enough. I was pumped about that. I don’t know where we lost the time at because we were a half-second off of third and we’re like sixth or seventh, so it’s tight. The pole right now is really fast, but a half-second can be on the track because the track was a little free, or it could have been on pit road. They said they hit it good, but not as good as they wanted. It could be a million different things. I spun the tires leaving the box, so when you’re going three laps and you’ve got a pit stop involved, a half-second isn’t a whole lot to be in the top three. I’m excited to get that under my belt. The next time I won’t be so nervous and I can just go out there and go for it because I was sweating bullets this time.”
WHERE IS THE STRESS METER FOR THIS COMPARED TO REGULAR QUALIYFING? “Pegged out. I was telling them if qualifying wasn’t already nerve-wracking enough – that’s the worst time for me anyways because you’ve got one lap to go out there and give it all you’ve got. This was like qualifying on steroids.”
DAVID RAGAN – No. 34 US Shredder Ford Fusion – “It went by a lot faster than I wanted it to. That’s a lot of fun. It’s a good opportunity for the Front Row US Shredder Ford to be in an All-Star Race and it was a lot of fun. I’d love to do it over again. You feel like you give up so much just from not knowing what to do and I look forward to going back and kind of dissecting everything. Hopefully, we’ll have another opportunity to do this in the future and we can do a little better. The car is not bad. Obviously, it’s a big learning weekend for us. We’ll go out and give it our best shot tomorrow night, but tonight was certainly new and a good learning experience.”
MATT KENSETH – No. 17 Fifth Third Bank Ford Fusion – “It was OK. I thought the car felt pretty good. I don’t know what our times were compared to everybody, but the car felt a lot better than it did in practice. That’s a good thing. We might have had a penalty or two, but the car felt pretty good.”
CARL EDWARDS – No. 99 Fastenal Ford Fusion – “I’m gonna go watch it. It didn’t feel real bad, but it just wasn’t real fast. We’ve got a fast race car, though, and it’s gonna be a fun race.”
MARCOS AMBROSE – No. 9 Stanley Ford Fusion – “I had a lot of fun for my first go at it. I was worried about getting on pit lane. I was worried about busting a fast lap. I was worried about getting forward drive. I wasn’t even thinking about the pit box and got in a little deep and got everyone a little flustered, I guess. We didn’t have the best pit stop there, but I’m just proud to be an All-Star for a night and looking forward to the race.”
GREG BIFFLE – No. 16 3M/American Red Cross Ford Fusion – “I’m really proud of the guys. They did a great job with a great stop. The car was pretty good on the track. I just couldn’t get going on pit road. I don’t know why. I practiced three times today and the car just spun going forward. I don’t know why it did that, but it did and that cost us a lot of time. Those are precious seconds almost ticking by when you can’t get going. We only missed the top by six-tenths, but it was a pretty good time for us.”
YOU LIKE YOUR SPEED? “Yeah, the car really has the speed so we’re excited about that. The car is running really good and we just can’t wait for tomorrow night. It’s gonna be fun. We’re starting up front and that’s where we need to be.”
