Pit Notes #1: Coca-Cola Summer Cookout & Track Walk Adds Value for Race Fans

Coca-Cola Family Track Walk & Summer Cookout

Coca-Cola 600 ticket holders are invited to the fourth annual Coca-Cola Family Track Walk and Summer Cookout, which takes place Friday, May 25, from 11a.m.-2 p.m. Partnering with HISTORY Channel Smoker and Grill, the cookout will be held on the frontstretch and pit road at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Race fans can partake from a menu foods such as hot dogs, hamburgers and grilled chicken. Several Coca-Cola Family drivers are expected to attend, including Denny Hamlin, Jeff Burton, Tony Stewart and Greg Biffle, as well as a special appearance by Ned Jarrett. The event will fire up following the Coca-Cola Family Track Walk.

Race Fans Get Latest News & Information with New Charlotte Motor Speedway App

As race fans head to Charlotte Motor Speedway for this weekend’s activities, the speedway has launched a new smart phone app for iPhone and Android. Fans can get all of the latest news from the track, view maps schedules and even purchase tickets, all from their smart phones. Fans can also log on to Charlotte Motor Speedway Facebook and Twitter pages directly from the app.

Local High School Junior ROTC Program Raise Funds During Race Week

Students of the A.L. Brown High School Junior Navy ROTC program located in Kannapolis, NC help will raise money for their program by working at Charlotte Motor Speedway during this weekend’s racing activities. Funding for this program is earned twice a year as students support food and beverage delivery to corporate sky boxes and club suites.

“It is an honor to continue our long-standing partnership with the Navy Junoir ROTC from A.L. Brown high School,” said Marcus Smith, Charlotte Motor Speedway president and general manager. “Programs like this instill values and traits in today’s youth that will last a lifetime.”

This is the primary fundraising activity for the program that also helps with community events.

Charlotte Motor Speedway has supported the A.L. Brown Junior Navy ROTC program through their partnership for the past eight years. During this weekend’s events, more than 50 students will be on hand.
