TEAM CHEVY DRIVER RACE NOTES & QUOTES

June 3, 2012

REGAN SMITH, NO. 78 FURNITURE ROW RACING/CSX PLAY IT SAFE CHEVROLET – INVOLVED IN 13-CAR INCIDENT ON LAP 9

WHAT TOOK PLACE FROM YOUR VANTAGE POINT? “I got into the back of the No. 14 and started the whole thing. I will take full blame for that. Somehow they got checked up in front of me. I just didn’t have time to get slowed up with it. I hate that there are so many wrecked race cars here. It’s not fun for anybody especially my guys on the Furniture Row/CSX Play it Safe Chevy. We will work hard to get it back out and get as many points as we can. It’s kind of tough here and certainly this doesn’t help things out. These guys will bust their butts and we will get every spot that we can.”

TONY STEWART, NO. 14 MOBIL 1/OFFICE DEPOT CHEVROLET – INVOLVED IN 13-CAR TRACK INCIDENT ON LAP 9

REGAN SMITH HAS ALREADY SAID THAT HE GOT INTO THE BACK OF YOU, BUT WHAT ACTUALLY STARTED IT? “The No. 83 was trying to get back down to the bottom and we were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. It wasn’t Regan’s (Smith) fault. He was right behind us and he didn’t have anywhere to go either. Just not a real good deal at the beginning of the race like this.”

CAN YOUR CAR BE REPAIRED? “I don’t know. It’s pretty damn tore up. We will see. I don’t know, it’s just a crappy weekend. You get back there with some of them guys and you’ve just got to be more patient. But, as far back as we started I didn’t really have the luxury to be as patient as I would have like to have been. Just was under a guy and he came down.”

JUAN PABLO MONTOYA, NO. 42 TARGET CHEVROLET – INVOLVED IN 13-CAR TRACK INCIDENT ON LAP 9

WHAT HAPPENED OUT THERE?

“I think Landon (Cassill) spun and you try to slow down. I got rammed from behind and I think the No. 38 (David Gilliland) just never slowed down and it killed our car and that’s it.”

ARE YOU DONE FOR THE DAY OR CAN YOUR CAR BE FIXED?

“Well, we’re going to try to at least get out and make some laps to score some points ahead of the go-or-go-homers. We’re going to have to do the best we can and run for a little bit; but not much, I think.”
