3rd Annual Catwalk for a Cause Raises $50,000

MOORESVILLE (June 13, 2012) – The third-annual Catwalk for a Cause fashion show benefitting the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation (MTJF), raised an astounding $50,000 on May 16th, bringing the show’s three-year fundraising total to more than $80,000!!

“We are overwhelmed by the amount of support at this year’s Catwalk! We had a full house at our shop this year, so many people came out to support the event that we’re going to have to move into a bigger space next year,” said Sherry Pollex, Truex’s girlfriend.  “What an awesome problem to have! We feel so blessed.  Thank you to everyone that had a small part in making our event such a huge success!”

Proceeds from this year’s event will again benefit the “Martin Truex Jr. Special Needs Fund” at Levine Children’s Hospital.  The fund provides qualified patients and families of children being treated at Levine’s who need assistance, the necessary medical services and supplies they need to get healthy.

NASCAR drivers and celebrities Martin Truex Jr., Ryan and Krissie Newman, Michael Waltrip, Max and Tati Papis, Ray and Erin Crocker-Evernham and Greg and Nanette Zipadelli joined more than 270 guests for the sold-out fashion show at Martin Truex Jr. Motorsports in Mooresville, NC.

A silent auction and raffle were held during the evening’s activities displaying items such as a Bulova diamond watch, a vacation package to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, designer apparel, diamond jewelry, and sports memorabilia. But the most-coveted items from this year’s auction were 10 pieces of hand-painted pottery created by children from Levine Children’s Hospital!

The highlight of the night was seeing the Foundation’s special guests, five children from Levine, strut the Runway in their fashions from GAP Kids!  At the end of the show, the Foundation presented a check to Levine Children’s Hospital for $30,000. Due to the tremendous support from the community, MTJF was able to contribute an additional $20,000 to the fund for a total 2012 contribution of $50,000!!

The date for next year’s 4th Annual Catwalk for a Cause will be announced in the coming months!  For now, the MTJF staff is gearing up to host its annual fan event and golf tournament in Truex’s hometown of Mayetta, New Jersey on September 26 and 27.  To learn more and support the MTJF or to participate in future events, please visit www.martintruexjrfoundation.org.
