ANOTHER CAREER BEST FINISH FOR MARTIN ROY

July 15, 2012.  Martin Roy began the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series swing through western Canada with a sensational result in round number five on the season.  In a brand new racecar the Napierville, Quebec native collected his first ever series top ten finish in the #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge and extended his lead in the rookie point’s battle.

During the afternoon practice Roy got the feel his new #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge.  “There were a few little things we needed to address during the practice but the new car felt very good” said Roy.

During qualifying Roy was still adjusting to the feel of the new car and managed a 13th place starting spot on the grid for the 300 lap feature event.

As the green flag dropped for the main event Roy immediately began moving forward in the #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge and quickly found himself inside the top ten.  “After we corrected those issues during the practice and qualifying, the car was very good” said Roy.

As the race progressed Roy continued his strongest run of the season  to date moving up into the top five to run with the series elite.  The #90 Veloce/Gamache Truck Centre Dodge team performed beautifully during scheduled pit stops to keep the team up front with the leaders.

As the race wound down Roy remained consistent in his lap times but would slip just outside the top five at the end, resulting in a sixth place finish, his best to date in the series.  “This new car that my Crew Chief Mario Gosselin built is very good and I’m extremely pleased with our result tonight.  And I know we are going to be even better as the season goes on” said Roy.

While she did not participate in round five in the #07 Frank Lyman Design Dodge, teammate Isabelle Tremblay continues to prepare for her next race.  Tremblay will be back in action soon and is still welcoming new partners to expand her race schedule to even more events this season.

Race fans will be able to watch the race from MotoPlex Speedway on July 22nd at 5PM on TSN and August 11th at 7:30PM on RDS2. (All times Eastern).  The next event on the race schedule is Sunday July 22nd at the Edmonton Indy weekend.
