Cassill Booming into New Hampshire

Statesville, N.C. (September 18, 2012) – Landon Cassill, driver of the No. 83 Burger King/Dr Pepper Toyota, is feeling good about this weekend’s Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. His team has finished inside the top 25 in five of the last six events. Cassill aims to continue his team’s hot streak this Sunday and close out the remaining races of 2012 with a bang.

Cassill has competed in four Sprint Cup Series races at New Hampshire. His best finish was 26th, which came in 2011. In his lone Nationwide Series start in 2008, he scored the pole, but was derailed by a crash for a 34th-place finish.

Doug Richert, crew chief of the No. 83 team, has called 18 races at New Hampshire. He’s scored three top-five and four top-10 finishes.

Comments from BK Racing Driver Landon Cassill heading into New Hampshire:

“New Hampshire is a one-mile, flat oval. You don’t have very much banking, so you’ve got to have your car set up to roll through the corners. It has to be free through the turns or it will be a long race for you. You need your car to feel kind of like it does at Richmond and Phoenix. Both of those tracks require a similar setup. Fortunately we’ve had good-handling cars at both of those tracks this year. We’ve had two top-20 finishes at Richmond. We ran well at Phoenix, but got caught up in an accident. We’ll use our info from those tracks to prepare for this weekend. I feel like that will give us a good base to start with.

“You’ve got to be disciplined at New Hampshire and not use up your brakes. It’s easy to drive really hard early in the race and not have anything left for the end of it. Of course it’s a lot easier to manage your equipment when you’re running well and you have a good-handling car. It seems like you’re twice as hard on it when it’s not handling the way you need it to and you’re fighting to get it to turn.

“We have a lot of momentum on our side. We’ve finished in the top 25 in five of the last six races. I’m really excited about how we’re looking for the final races of the season. We may not be in the Chase, but all of the remaining races are so important to us. We need to learn all we can and collect as much information as possible so we can come back stronger next season.”
